How can anyone buy this when these are the same types who shoot from inside schools to draw return fire and then parade the dead children in front of the media? I lived in Israel and have friends in the IDF who have seen this with their own eyes.

I must admit, the militants have done an excellent job of recognizing the white liberal guilt and incredible left-wing nature of the media and the UN, and have found a way to capture attention and win the PR war.

To credit the Ottawa Citizen (not something I normally do), last week there was a terrific essay about how the last decade has seen the true disappearance of free speech in Canada. People have become afraid to speak their minds and to side against any cause out of fear of being painted as a racist, an anarchist, or someone unconcerned with the plight of the "under-priviledged."

Surely such a march will offend nearly all non-muslim Brits. It will be time to fish or cut bate. Will ordinary Brits get up in arms and confront the enemy living within their borders, or will they sit idly by? It would seem that most of them will do nothing, and the brave will be held back by police, who will undoubtedly arrest any non-muslim who dares voice his displeasure.

I'll say one thing only. If such a march does take place, thousands of cops will be there ensuring that radicals can perform their slap in the face to their adoptive country free from "racist interference". If Gordon Brown is serious about not wanting an Islamist march through that town, all he needs to do is cancel their permit and make the cops stay in the station.

This would seem to be the central problem facing Britain these days. Muslim radicalism exists there only because it is funded and guarded by the British government.

Btw - have you noticed how "nicely" AFP put the responsibility for Afghani civilian deaths on British forces?
