CAVUTO: You`re okay with, in this case, profiling?

KOCH: Absolutely. All I care about is that, when I get on that plane, I want to have a reasonable assurance that I`m going to land safely....

CAVUTO: And you also mentioned about the message we`re sending the world when we try to step back from calling this for what it is-

KOCH: Right.

CAVUTO: -a war. Now, the administration`s tried to avoid that to have better relations and to reach out--

KOCH: Has it helped?

CAVUTO--to those 1.4 billion Muslims.

KOCH: Has it helped?

CAVUTO: Well, his approval and America`s regard has gone up in those countries. He says and they say--

KOCH: Isn`t that nice? Did they stop trying to kill us?

Nice to see that the tide is finally turning. I think more and more people will have Koch's courage and call a spade a spade. Maybe if enough "good" muslims get the rubber glove at the airport, it might start a backlash against their cowardly brethren. Wishful thinking, I suppose.

A very indignant woman, with a rag on her head, was interviewed at an airport by CNN. She was complaining that she had to submit to a search, but the bad guys are still getting through. I found myself shouting at the TV, YOU ARE the bad guy!

I watched the interview with Koch & CHEERED. Finally someone saying the truth who is somebody in plain English what we face.
The worm is turning. PC is a death-bell calling all to commit social suicide.

Today on Roy Green Syed Soharwardy spewed a line condemning terrorism . I find it real easy to call bull$hit on anything that clown says.

Koch has had this position since pre-911 and he has been vocal about it - not much of a "tide-turning" with him.

El Al is unapologetic in its profiling of passengers and (so far) it has had no terror attacks on its planes from within the fuselage.

Funny we have to argue over common sense on this front, it's a no-brainer for anyone with the capacity to reason. In fact anyone who works at an airport, has access to the planes, baggage handlers etc. should be profiled but the Trudeau document called the Charter of Right and Freedoms could pose a problem.

Get rid of the Charter, I lived before it existed and felt freer then than now. I am glad to hear that some Imams etc., are beginning to feel brave enough to speak our about Muslim terrorism here and in the US, though they may find themselvews isolated and on a hit list. Takes guts to do the right thing, always has.

Koch ends the interview with, "What, are we crazy?"

In a word, yes, and gutless wonders.

The terrorists are counting on our "tolerant," "open," multicultural craziness. They know the Kumbaya-one-big-happy-family-schtick is the delusional Utopian fantasy of the loony left -- but they're delighted to use it to infiltrate our societies and, ultimately, kill us. We're infidels, after all.

The reason they hate the Jews and Christians is that we've recognized and named the murderous potential of Islamist fanatics for centuries and have fought it vigorously -- getting it in the jugular by the new secular humanist dispensation. The Jews, of course, are still involved in a life-and-death struggle with them.

We Christians are, too, except that Christian ardour has waned in the West in the past few hundred years, thanks to the Enlightenment (sic) and our technological wizardry that has us thinking we no longer need G*d. Too many Christian "leaders" -- of the lib-left variety -- have become surrender monkeys as well, much to the delight of the Islamist terrorists.

It takes a lot more than technological weapons to win a war. It takes moral and spiritual fortitude and a will to pay the price to live free. Unfortunately, we in the West, we in Canada, seem to think that because we have a "Charter of Rights and Freedoms," we are free -- at no cost.

In fact, we're less free than we were 30 years ago when Trudeau put us in shackles, deceptively using words to trick us, as all G*dless regimes do. Rights and freedoms? Select groups have gained rights at the expense of others, diminishing the freedoms of the majority. And, the Islamist terrorists are loving it, seeing as it's their rights that are waxing while most of ours are waning, right under our noses.

Ed Koch, are we crazy? Yup. Big-time.

I am sure some of the imams are sincere when they condemn terrorism but I really don't believe them in general. At the big (almost 20,000 people there) muslim conference in Toronto a few weeks back they made some sort of declaration that they should stop killing OTHER MUSLIMS. You and I are not on the list of people they should stop killing. With all the things that Sowahaty has said over the years I frankly don't believe him.

If the muslims were smart, they would stop trying to kill us, our government will let millions more immigrate here and there will reach a point where we can do nothing about them even if we grow a set.

The muslim terrorism problem is easy to solve. All we would have to do is stop immigration, deport all muslim s who are not citizens and stamp on any of the remainder with laws that already exist but currently never get applied to muslims. If they piss us of enough now we might do that, if they settle down and wait ten years, those measures won't be an option anymore.

I hope they haven't reached that conclusion, because if they have we're screwed.

Some of those hundreds of millions who want to see Americans killed are other Americans.

Minuteman

That is what has happened to Britain, Germany and France, so many have immigrated, that now they fight the terrorists from within, and, they have some political capital to work with.......and all the while they have renounced nothing......you don't have to wonder why the French are the surrender monkeys that they are

At the rate Euro land is cutting its own throat, it won't matter soon . . .

"
Because of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership between the European Union and Islamic states in the Middle East, by the year 2050, the Islamic population of Europe will be 25% to 30% of the total population. There will be perhaps over 100 million Muslims in Europe.

Partnership? More like a suicide pact. Fifty million laborers with families. The effects on European civilization, and on Europe's relationship with the United States, are all too easy to imagine. And the U.S.-Muslim engagement document, the blueprint for the Obama administration's relationship with Muslim countries, parallels these plans. It contains the same "cross-culturalization" plans that are discussed and recommended in the Euro-Med partnership. In other words, it's a charter for our dhimmitude, our subservience to Islamic law."

and the genetic reseach being conducted in Isreal, as we speak, to see if the Talibani are actually part of one of the lost 10 tribes of the Jews. Decended from Benjamin????

interesting times we live in!!!

I've liked Ed Koch since he became mayor of New York. One of the few things that I didn't like about the book Real Men Don't Eat Quice is that the author called Ed Koch a quiche-eater. I don't agree with Koch on a lot of things, but he was certainly a better mayor than his predecessor (Abe Beame, if memory serves) or his immediate successor (David Dinkins), and he's always been a straight shooter. We need more like him.

I refuse to fly until they remove the dehumanizing invasion of privacy experienced by non-suspect group citizens.

I see an article in the citizen today about an elderly lady who was traumatized by the frisking she got. She is NOT in any suspect group - that is if indeed all this obsessive martial intrusion of rights and privacy is to screen for Islamic terrorists - if it is just big government simply beating us into blind submissiveness with dehumanizing abusive authority then this is mission accomplished - but I doubt frisking 85 year old retired Canadian civil servant with no police record or motive or remote association with a suspect terror group, will make air travel any safer.

For this reason alone I now take the car or a train. We are all wimped out schmucks if we allow our government to hold us all as terror suspects when the vast majority of us do not even remotely fit the profile of the outlawed terror group.

I was listening to Green or Adler can't remember which. They were talking about profiling. One of the callers was in Ireland during the "Troubles." On a flight to London every Irish adult male was separated from the rest and went into a separate room for interview by tough questioning. They understood it was for the safety of all. What happened?

Speedy, the important bit of data is "Irish adult male".

Its ok to oppress white men. They deserve it, because they are part of the Western Imperialist Capitalist Hegemony and anything bad that happens to them serves them right. White men are bad, profiling them doesn't happen enough.

Islamists are mostly browner than Irish men, so you're not allowed to oppress them because that's RACIST!!!! Brown people never do anything bad, even blowing up buildings full of White Capitalist Imperialists can be considered a good thing, because white men are bad and brown people and all women are good. Explosions that happen in brown countries where one group of brown people blows up another group don't count, because who really cares about anything other than hating white men anyway?

I hope this re-statement of the rules clears things up for you.

BTW, Ed Koch is an apostate from the One True PC Faith and must be destroyed. Noam Chomsky has pronounced fatwa on him, Koch's days are numbered.

As per usual Phantom makes an excellant, thoughtful post.....perhaps in jest but jesters have a long tradition of speaking the truth.

Returning to the venerable BILL of Rights will be bitterly opposed by the leftist bureaucracy.....heaven forbid....for example the Right to Own Property....would emasculate important things such as Bill C68 and so on.
It is no accident the symbol of uprising is represented by angry men with torches and pitchforks----the only armament available to a dis-armed citizenry.

The Sikh's are not a lot different.

Worked for a chap in Calgary who had a business which took him to cities as a private contractor and on this occasion he was contracted to do some work in Quesnel, BC. He was flown into Williams Lake then chauffeured the rest of the trip. The driver started with small talk and then turned to some very personal questions, such as how his wife (by name) and son (by name) were doing, especially since the death of the son's twin brother not long before the trip. He asked how he liked living in the neighbourhood (by name) and how he liked his new vehicle (by name) and continued to ask questions of this nature.

He was unnerved by this and asked how he knew these things. The driver said that nobody came in to do work in the Sikh community without having a thorough check and approval by the leaders there. They know everything about you before the working relationship is permitted. He said they did this for their own safety as there are factions and other religious groups which they needed to protect themselves from and that this was standard practice.

They profile for their own safety, how about us?

I am sure some of the imams are sincere when they condemn terrorism but I really don't believe them in general.
~minuteman

All of the imams are sincere when they condemn terrorism.
The problem is that what they mean by "terrorism" isn't the same as what we mean by terrorism.

When an imam uses the word terrorism they mean us infidels fighting back against the expansion of Islam.
Terrorism to them is anyone fighting against the Ummah.

Thus we can understand the protest posters at an anti-war rally that state:
Bush=Terrorist!

Koch is the author of one of my favourite expressions:

"I can explain it to you, but I can't comprehend it for you!"

sasquatch, thanks for the kind words.

I'm only half kidding. I'm pretty sure if you posted that word for word on Rabblebabble there'd be plenty who would accept it at face value and agree.

I hesitate to do the experiment myself, because it would involve posting at that slime pit. I might get some on me, you know?

Those with stronger stomachs are invited to have a go. Might want to change "brown" to non-white and leave out the blowing up part, even Lefties have limits to their credulity.

Hear! Hear! to sasquatch's shout out to the Phantom's dependable (and often hilarious) wisdom. But even The Phantom slips sometimes, viz., saying it's acceptable to ban nuts across a whole school because of a single allergy. That's nuts and shockingly limp for The Phantom.

Decades ago, I formulated what I still think is a irrefutable axiomatic truth: any financial projection included in a insurance sale brief will be a total LIE.
Similarly, all Imans are lying bastards, every single one, no exceptions.
When they decry the slaughter of innocents, they mean muslims only, as infidels are ipso facto guilty.

As to decrying terrorism, there can be one, and only one possible motive: "My dear fellow sons of Allah, lay off the terrorism already ... we're doing just fine Islamizing the west WITHOUT terrorism, which can, if we're not very very careful, awake the dumb infidel beast."

Recall, the beast awoke for a brief period after 9/11. See Charles Johnson, LGF.

The public should demand and the airlines should offer 'Muslim-free' flights.

sum has gotta = new

Scat!

It's Sunday, time for Dim Sum.

85-year-old white women aren't blowing up planes. Why are we wasting everyone's time, and wasting security resources, by harassing them and examining their shoes?

I'd love to hear the explanation for it from those responsible for airport security - I mean, there has to be a reason for it, right?

Profiling is just common sense; something the authorities seek to deny at our own peril. What I find totally dishonest and disgusting are those who claim to be opposed to racial profiling. Islam is NOT a race nor do the terrorists all belong to the same race, so let us drop the racial part. For the most part the terrorists are young Muslim men with a record (for anyone checking) of supporting radical Islamisn and therefore not difficult to identify if there is a will to do so.

Instead of applying common sense everyone else is penalised and treated as potential terrorists including 80 and 85 year old grandmothers. Go figure!

Oz: "It's Sunday, time for Dim Sum."

That's for sure ... ;-)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJ_A_nVv6Ms

The whole interview. The quote above is at the four minute mark.

You guys are concerning me...you do realize that sentiments like this is what leads to a loss of rights...right? The modern "conservative"...rejects climate change as a government conspiracy, thinks they should stay out of our business, but is all for racial profiling by that same government...whacked.

So now racial profiling = religious profiling. Hmmm.

concerned

U that stupid, as to equate global warming and effective safty measures????

profiling has been proved very effective by El Al, and so much better than over loading security people with politically correct stupidity

global warming is now even being denied by the IPCC, well at least for the next 20-30 years

try keeping up will ya!!!

Nobody's upset about profiling when it's to their advantage. When it comes to applying for a grant, or a government job that's created for a minority, profiling is a great idea. It's only when people get on the wrong side of the column that they get upset.

Ed Koch was born in 1924 ( he is 85 years) to a Jewish family in the Morrisania section of the Bronx is former NYC mayor is saying we are going to be in 30 years war with Muslim radical fenatic in world who
muslim islamist terrorist who 100,000 are of muslim who like to kill christian and jewish and hindus.

ed Koch said " "They want to kill every Christian, every Jew, every Hindu who won`t convert."

when world ended and jesus back
all people will back to have one relgion
as mesia are promised to jewish and christian and muslim to end the world we all will have one relgion we know this fact as similarty of all relgion who belived moses jesus and mohamad was prophet of god

Let's not call it "profiling," seeing as that word really gets certain people's knickers in a Hell of a knot.

Let's call it "being smart," looking for the guys who are most likely to blow up a plane -- and we pretty much know who they are.

Who can object to being smart? 'Especially when the life you save might be your own.

Yikes!

more = less

more = new

more = same old new

No more, please.

sum=more=new ...wow speaky english ? ANYWAY ! this is all the same rehtoric we have all been oppressed with one day i hope through a democratic process we can sort this death cult out but it looks pretty grim.........http://www.answeringmuslims.com/2009/12/muslim-child-beheads-man.html

show me a jew or christian in the last 100 years that has ever done something like that....round em all up peaceful or not and get em all outta here ..or at least stop immigrating muslims into any part of the western world ,and put an enternal ban on building or converting and new or old standing building's of any kind into mosks!!

Islam has poven time and time and time again that it is NOT compatible with the western democracy .

Paul in calgary

Concerned is a prime example of the wilfully brain-dead or blatantly dishonest. Until concerned and his fellow travellers can explain how Islam or Muslim is a race, they would be wiser to keep quiet.

Profiling is done for various reasons in various arenas. This particular reason should not be exempt.

From the article:

"Mathieu Larocque, a spokesman for the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority, said the agency responsible for airport security has not received a complaint about the treatment of Sutcliffe's aunt."

Would a complaint do any good? The band-aid solutions we have now aren't meant to actually safeguard the public, just make them think that. Do we feel safer now that an elderly, frightened woman was prodded yet al-Qaeda could be planning something as we speak?

The profiling is done based on country of origin. It's not the details of the profiling...it's the fact that you're all riled up and ready to let the government threaten civil liberties to "others", but when it comes to other issues that appear to threaten "your" liberties...ehem..like any sort of taxes, or climate change initiatives..you get in a fit about it. Is that not the definition of hypocrite?

And don't say "it's not about race"...it's all the same root thought..."me" and "them"

I quote:

"A very indignant woman, with a rag on her head, was interviewed at an airport by CNN. She was complaining that she had to submit to a search, but the bad guys are still getting through. I found myself shouting at the TV, YOU ARE the bad guy!

concerned- Did you not read the related link? You lose sleep over my comment, but you can't figure out why people are upset. I was simply stating what a lot of people are thinking.

Very concerned, there you go again with more lies and misinformation. No, profiling is not done based on country of origin, which would be useless. You also continue to harp about the loss of civil liberties, yet you still have it backwards. Treating every person as a potential terrorist instead of those most fitting the definition is indeed an erosion of our civil liberties. As for the civil liberties of terrorists, frankly who cares!

Alain- Don't you think country of origin might be one indicator? I think you have to start a profile somewhere, and if you start with religion, or race, you might run into deception.

My son, and his Italian friend took a cab ride in Calgary, last year. His friend is quite dark skinned, with a full beard. The (Pakistani)cab driver looked at him and asked, "are you one of us?". After a couple of confused "what do you mean?" replies, he understood, and said, "I'm Italian". That ended any more converstation. I guess Italians aren't well liked in the muslim world.

"Did you not read the related link? You lose sleep over my comment, but you can't figure out why people are upset. I was simply stating what a lot of people are thinking."

I read it...and? Lose sleep.. :D ...I know why people are upset..because they feel threatened and have a self identity that needs an "other"/"them" to blame for the resulting unease and anxiousness.

If that's what everyone else is thinking then I'm EXTREMELY concerned.

You don't see the hypocrisy? Its ok for the government to take some people's rights away as long as they don't tread anywhere near mine.

At least you didn't try and tell me that country of birth and/or origin isn't at the top of the profile......

"No, profiling is not done based on country of origin, which would be useless. "

Alain...ask yourself if you actually KNOW what you're about to type.

"Treating every person as a potential terrorist instead of those most fitting the definition is indeed an erosion of our civil liberties."

No, that would just be threatening YOUR personal liberties rather than just "them".

dp, why would it? To date terrorists have been native (white) British, Saudis, North Africans and black Africans, Pakistanis, Sudanese, Arab-Americans and the list goes on. It is not a matter of race, colour or country of origin, but it is very much a matter of who embraces militant Islamisn, who for the most part are young Muslims males, including converts.
