| Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to SDA Late Nite Radio. Tonight, for your delectation, here is Grace Jones (one of our favourite contraltos) performing Walking in the Rain ¤ § in 1981 (4:21). |
Your Reader Tips are, as always, welcome in the comments.

I am surprised that, to my knowledge, no one has brought up this bit of news from today. "Russian skaters' Aborigine theme causes outcry

Re: Grace Jones
Not for me!! I prefer Garth Brooks "The Thunder Rolls."
V. I'll take the original one any time any place. This sounds like early (crap) rap. Might be my age "grumpy old" setting in. Keep looking!
"Queen B*tch Jungle Mother of New York" indeed!
I loved it, Vitruvius.
Understood, Earnest & Joe. Still, if we only play here songs that you like, then there will be some songs that others might like that won't be played, solely because you don't like them. Have you ever noticed how DJ EBD often plays songs that I wouldn't be likely to choose. It's the same sort of thing: if we only play songs I like, then there will be some songs that others might like that won't be played solely because I don't like them.
DJ EBD brings perspective and balance to SDA Late Nite Radio, just as for any of us, hearing (from time to time) songs that one wouldn't normally seek out brings perspective and balance to one's music-o- experiential portfolio. Not only that, of course, but in order to live up to our hard-earned reputation for eclecticism here at SDA Late Nite Radio, it remains incumbent upon us, I think, to occasionally venture into legitimate while yet arguably unusual musical experiences such as tonight's show.
And besides, Black Mamba loved it, as she might very well like Miss Jones' I've Seen That Face Before, and, of course, her brilliant big-ticket production of Slave to the Rhythm, both of which we previously featured here at Late Nite Radio. Therefore, overall, I think I'll hold the helm steady here in the studio, at least for now ;-)
Mississauga Matt. You best get out of this place. You are the new new. (:-)>>>.
Mississauga Matt, how does that story go? First they came for the _____, then they came for _____, oh, now they have come for me.

RE: Globe, Thursday, Jan. 14, Andre Picard.
To endorse your suspicions about “the whole purpose of” a Quebec government installing a "no-fault" regime, let me move your attention from health care to that same state’s monolithic SAAQ system over all things occurring on roads. It seems that one of the purposes of that same natured plan is indeed “to get government employees off the hook for anything they should do wrong”.
I have evidence that actions by certain Quebec officials have resulted in the following:
On the part of the victim, any vestige of his rights as a person, however oblique the gesture might have ended, was put out of reach when any court’s chance to examine a truck driver’s role in the fatal collision was prejudiced by a Coroner;
On the part of the institution of justice, that Coroner’s conclusion obviated an alternate one which, from the same official investigation report, takes its proofs, confirms prevailing traffic codes, is corroborated by all existing evidence and is in keeping with all legal conventions and, by so doing, differentiates itself from the aforementioned Coroner’s official conclusion; and
On the part of a Government duly elected by the people of Quebec, that Coroner participated in a scenario which succeeded at subverting the power of a higher agency, namely the Commission des Transports du Quebec (CTQ).
Focus on the third harm listed above. Observe that, incredibly, no red flag was raised because none of Quebec’s rules or regulations was violated by that Coroner. Further, the CTQ was installed in allegiance to the Quebec public’s rising concern about the hazards of an ever-growing number of large commercial vehicles on their roadways. Further again, the CTQ was meant to harmonize that province’s statutes regarding big trucks and the safety threat they pose with all other North American jurisdictions so to not make Quebec the exception by appearing soft on the problem. Further still, the CTQ has extraordinary, and in cases related to fatal collisions involving commercial vehicles, untrammeled powers that can strike deep in the pocketbook of commercial carriers. Finally, the CTQ was perfectly placed, through protocols for the reporting of all collisions involving such trucks, as the end point of the accountability chain for carriers, professional drivers and everyone, including other officials, in between.
Yet, that Coroner easily castrated the CTQ and, now, my family has no recourse – civil or criminal – in Canada to get justice for our loved one.
Atop all of this, the cause of the collision was virtually ‘a thing which speaks for itself’. For all intents, any lucid, adult Canadian would immediately grasp the truck driver’s complicity in the harm done, if they took 30 seconds to view the basic details and cogitate.
Oh wait, to some extent I have erred by duplicating a flaw of that Globe column you referenced; I forgot to lay out some extremely important information. The fact is, in order to facilitate that only universal pure no fault Plan in Canada, Quebec outlawed civil litigation for liability pursuant to road accidents starting in 1978.
With that tidbit revealed, does the credo ‘sell your services to the highest bidder’ appear to, in any way, have application in Quebec’s arrangements?
I remain eager to reveal more.

new: " ... people like batb, sound , Aoron and mississaug mat must get arrested if they continue say antimuslim in canada"
HUH?
Who the hell's "sound"?
I suspect that what new has against me is that I am a Christian. I don't say a lot against Muslims, a lot of other commenters say more than I do, but isn't it interesting that he mentions lil' ol' me?
Hey, like you Mississauga Matt (I'm in good company), I guess I'm doing my job and standing up to be counted: In this dystopian Deranged Dominion no good deed goes unpunished.
Proudly I boast that I actually was able to shut “new” up several days ago and haven’t noticed any new activity on SDA since. (Possibly on some overlooked threads?).
Ref: Jan 16/10 Reader Tips.
Unfortunately Sméagol seems to have found a new precious.
Strange – It’s seems that “new” last two rhetoric spewing comments were removed from that SDA thread I mentioned earlier. It sort of makes my comments look like I was talking to myself.
In a nutshell – “new” had blithered on that European Canadians needed to get out of Canada to allow harmony for the Muslims in Canada. He/She attacked me with utter foul language, which I hadn’t recalled “new” ever using before, and said how he/she was “leaving Canada soon”(the implied reason was out of disgust for racist Canadians) and that I was never to mention his/her moniker or ever make a comment towards it again.
Really is sounded almost strap on a vest suicidal……
:)
I am not absolutely certain about this, yet it is my understanding that the person who from time to time comments 'round these parts as New is the person who is discussed in this April 11, 2008, Financial Post article. To the degree that such is the case, I would advise caution and yet avoid over-generalization.
Posted by: Vitruvius>
Wow – Good call Vitruvius. It certainly does fit with that last posting where “new” lost the plot because it centered around farming (loathing Canadian farmers), subsidized grain and that Muslims were squeezed out of Canadian business due to racist insiders. Interesting similarities anyway.
Perhaps something in a more somber mood and keeping with the insanity of the times: Spike Jones and Cocktails for Two
For those interested, Spike is the guy in the table cloth trousers.
Pray New has a "Paul on the Road to Damascus" conversion experience. Definately a fanatic - did not realize new was female - how'd you all discover that - did new self disclose?
Globe and Mail, Friday, Jan. 22.
"The nation that has traditionally thought of itself as liberal and forgiving is adopting a hard line on crime and punishment - including the death penalty". A poll shows 62% of Canadians favour capital punishment today, versus 48% in 2004.
Earth to Kirk Makin: It was only over the past decade or two that Canadians' traditional support for capital punishment declined under 50%.
He also interviews people from the John Howard Society plus the usual suspects among left-wing criminology professors, but no one who might provide an opposing viewpoint.
This is not objective journalism.
Globe and Mail, Friday, Jan. 22. Rick Salutin.
"The notion that human societies are governable is an amiable delusion; success is always relative ...".
Then why are you such a big fan of "activist government"?
Salutin also chides the U. S. because "It alone among developed nations still can't work out a basic health-care system for its people".
Maybe that's because the citizens of the U. S. would rather govern themselves individually and freely rather than by putting faith in the coercive monopoly of government. If human societies truly are ungovernable, it's because people prefer freedom.
Nicely put nv53. Strangely, people prefer freedom to indentured servitude
Globe and Mail, Friday, Jan. 22, editorial on salt content in food.
"Reducing salt in the Canadian diet should be as much of a public-health priority as cutting obesity, in light of new findings about the huge benefits of successful reductions."
Sure, and then a few years from now a new set of new findings comes along that says, wait a minute, those studies from 2010 were all wrong, sodium isn't so bad after all. Meanwhile we've wasted millions of dollars that taxpayers living paycheque-to-paycheque would rather have spent on their rent or other necessities than on vapid nanny-state "public health" authorities pushing them around.
"The Sodium Working Group, set up by Health Canada with industry, health and government representatives, has little to show for two years of existence. It might as well be renamed the Sodium Extended Holiday Group."
What a surprise, a bureaucracy doing nothing. Most government bodies are like this most of the time.
Let's stop all the phony "public health" nonsense and leave the scarce resources in the pockets of taxpayers who have the capability to discover the "huge benefits of successful reductions" and the right to use their judgment to make the decisions about their own lives.
Again with the Moan & Wail and the sodium? Oy vey!
As far as eating sodium goes, any amount is too much. You take one little bite, and it goes rocketing around in your mouth, reacting with saliva and producing sodium hydroxide and hydrogen, which immediately ignites and burns with a yellow flame. You'll be lucky to get away with less than third-degree burns. And the kerosene they pack it in tastes icky, too.
Sodium chloride, on the other hand, makes food taste good, and if you get none at all in your diet, you'll croak.

"Exhausted Aid Workers Among those Leaving Haiti
By Marc Pitzke in Port-au-Prince, Haiti
While the inflow of aid into Haiti is getting more organized, thousands are trying to flee the country. They include tourists, diplomats and reporters. And, increasingly, aid workers who are worn out by what they have experienced.
Christen Parker clutches a small, tattered notebook. "These are my stories," she says and shows pages and pages filled with cramped, scribbled writing, a gushing of words. Some are blurred, as if they have become wet. Others just break off mid sentence.
Parker, a slight bespectacled woman, is sitting on her backpack behind the half destroyed Port-au-Prince airport terminal. She is surrounded by countless other people who want to leave the city. They have been waiting for hours, some for days. Helicopters rattle through the air. A woman is nursing a baby with a bandaged head."

"Fewer temperature reports could mean warming underestimated: scientist"
"Environment Canada says while a smaller sample of stations may not prevent a clear understanding of the planet's overall temperature changes, it could create an inaccurate picture of the changes in a critically-sensitive region such the Arctic.
"Missing observations in an area where the climate is expected to respond more quickly to external influences, such as the Arctic, may, however, result in underestimates of the amount of climatic change," said Sujata Raisinghani, a spokesperson for Environment Canada, in an e-mail to Canwest News Service on Friday.
"The Arctic is expected to warm more quickly than other parts of the globe as a result of human induced greenhouse gas emissions. Thus, if stations are missing in the Arctic, the Arctic contribution to warming will be underestimated."

While the press is hyperventilating over NASA GISS recent announcement of the “Hottest Decade Ever“, it pays to keep in mind what happened the last two years of the past decade.
According to NCDC, 2009 temperatures in the US (53.13F) were the 33rd warmest and very close to the long term mean of 52.86F.”

What was once new soon becomes an old, narrow minded, bigoted, radicalized, thin skinned, thick skulled, bitter, twisted, stupid in spades, anti free speech, mass death & murder loving moron.
So much for new things, but the fortunate part is that sometimes new things show us, or rather tell us what good little fascisti they really are, how superior they feel, how little respect they have for anyone or any opinion other than their own, how they would like to wield power over everyone else.
The new new is just like the old Stalin mass murdering new, or the Mao mass murdering new, or the Che & Fidel mass murdering new.
All those news so beloved by our Progressive class.
Where is new Tommy Douglas when you need some good euthanasia or mass sterilizations?
Time to through out the new onto the old garbage heap of history where new will be right at home on the stinking mounds of mass graves so beloved of new and all new's friends.

Our local radio(cfos)had a very good commentary yesterday, Durants world. He nails it, Only in Canada can you get 1day in jail(after pre-trial t.s.)After you make a threat to Murder the PM by beheading & murder thousands of innocent's by blowing up buildings.
And where's the outrage? No our left thinking citizens would rather crucify the PM for poroguing parl. Instead of demanding that the Senate allow the changes to Time Served to be enacted into Law.
Every Province has spoke on this issue to the Minister asking for T.S to be dropped, Yet your Un-Elected Liberal Senator's disagree. The only way this is going to change is that PM recieves a majority in the next election.
Not enough snow in BC for the Olympics seems to be a concern. Could it have anything to do with our Green Queen, Tin Lizzy May's move to that place?

An Ontario farmer who operates a raw milk co-op was found not guilty Thursday of 19 charges related to selling unpasteurized milk.
Michael Schmidt, from Durham, Ont., defended himself in 2009 against the charges for dispensing milk straight from the cow.
While raw milk is legal to drink, it's illegal to sell in Canada.Schmidt's legal battles sparked a heated debate over the safety of raw milk. Advocates have extolled its flavour and health benefits, while health officials and the province's milk marketing board, the Dairy Farmers of Ontario, have argued raw milk isn't fit for widespread distribution."

SCANDAL! Climategate USA About To Hit: Expert
First England, next the US...
http://thecanadiansentinel.blogspot.com/2010/01/scandal-climategate-usa-about-to-hit.html
Re 'new', who under any name would smell.
There were always too many cracks in new's facade, such as:
Too many times, da English it was good.
Too many times, da spelling it was good.
Too many times, da grammar it was good.
Too many times, da typing it was good.
That new is trying to stir up trouble for whatever purpose can't be disputed, but until I see a photo, an authentic biography and a passport, I'm still skeptical about who and what 'new' is.
"anitmuslim" - wow, I made new's spelling worse. That's quite an achievement.
