Nice T.G.I.F music.

Not sure how many are following the US senate race in Massachusetts, but the hand picked Dem just shot herself in the foot big time!

Posters here from the east coast will likely understand the Red Sox Nation and that Kurt Schilling is its god. Tonight this wonder child looking to fill Ted "Swimmer" Kennedy's seat called Schilling a Yankees fan.........

Comment of the day from HotAir on this is from F15 Mech,

"Someone really needs to tell Martha to put down the gun (aimed at her foot) and for the love of God stop re-loading."

Glenn Reynolds warns that Intrade still gives it to Martha Coakley. I checked and she's at 60% vs. Brown at 40%. If I'm not mistaken Intrade is highly reliable.

Interesting article at NY Magazine on the implosion of John Edward's presidential bid (remember him?)

Memphis Horns. Incredible.
Top notch. The bass player is golden.

Agreed, Gord, it was a delight to find that in the interwebothique.

This has been discussed a bit, but I find Ezra's comments on the "war crimes accusations" particularly hard hitting and dead-on. It is astonishing that Liberals are indifferent about implicating the military in their partisan smears, while journalists look the other way.

All things considered, Canada, you were nicer in the early nineties, when there was barely a Conservative Party to speak of and Montreal apartments were cheap and plentiful.

In Friday's G&M online edition of Lifestyle, Leah McLaren's headline reads - When did you get so smug, Canada? Not cool man.

Turns out it's all Harper's (PMO) fault, progation.

Silly me for thinking that (the section, Lifestyles, and a female writer living in England) the article would be about a foreign perspective/observation on Canadians. I guess the MSM liked the latest polling numbers.

The article itself is complete rubbish and even the comment posters point this out.

Meanwhile in Holland.

Government Greenhouse Collapses From Snow

Who says that Mother Nature doesn't have a sense of humour?

(seen at Bishop Hill blog)

Hell has frozen over,or the moderator of CBC's comments is passed out in a Liberal's bed. It doesn't matter, either way,the cbc has a story up about the guy in Chicago charged with terrorist activities, who is a Canadian,(as Canadian as a suicide belt BTW),and they are letting comments from non-sympathizers go through. Incredible. If you click 'most agreed' you will have to go through 54 comments before you will find an appeaser. Real Canadians are speaking, and we don't like sucking up,taking it up,and swallowing our pride and the evil spunk of Islam.Take advantage of this rare oppurtunity where we are not censored, and slapped down, visit CBC.---http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2010/01/15/terror-mumbai-canadian.html

Palin warning

Here is the full interview she did with Hannity.
(it's not edited that I can tell,,, in 3 parts)
She's pretty relaxed with him and candid.

and we thought Al Gore was a climate change holyroller.

Unbelievable. Went to PMSH site to research how to donate for Haitian relief. http://www.pm.gc.ca/eng/media.asp?id=3063
The site points out "in order to avoid potential fraud, we urge you to check to see if your preferred charitable organization is registered before you give." If you click the link you get
"Systems maintenance Due to systems maintenance, this service is not available at this time. Please try again later." Tried the 1-800 number and all I get is a busy signal. You would think in response to this tragedy that system maintenance could be delayed.
Several newscasts are pointing citizens to this site to check whether your money is going directly to aid or if it is going to admin fees etc. I don't want to send money and then find out that 10% is diverted for the head office. This is frustrating.

Yogi, that would be frustrating. Maybe the site has crashed because so many people are trying to access it. Let the PMO know.

Check out Canada Revenue Agency for the reliability of relief/charitable agencies:

More quotations from Chairman Martha (Coakley):

http://www.powerlineblog.com/

WBSM Radio Host Ken Pittman: Right, if you are a Catholic, and believe what the Pope teaches, that any form of birth control is a sin...ah, you don't want to do that.

Martha Coakley: No we have a separation of church and state, Ken. Let's be clear.

Ken Pittman: In the emergency room you still have your religious freedom.

Martha Coakley: (...stammering) The law says that people are allowed to have that. And so then you can have religious freedom but you probably shouldn't work in the emergency room.

Huh? That's freedom? 'Same thinking as the CHRC apparatchiks.

Thanks batb but it is the CRA link that is down for maintenance.

"Cuba cold snap kills 26 at psychiatric hospital

HAVANA -- Twenty-six patients at Cuba's largest hospital for the mentally ill died this week during a cold snap, the government said Friday.

Human rights leaders cited negligence and a lack of resources as factors in the deaths, and the Health Ministry launched an investigation that it said could lead to criminal proceedings.

A Health Ministry communique read on state television blamed "prolonged low temperatures that fell to 38 degrees Fahrenheit (4 Celsius) in Boyeros," the neighborhood where Havana's Psychiatric Hospital is located.

It said most of the deaths were from natural causes such as old age, respiratory infections and complications from chronic diseases including cancer and cardiovascular problems.

The statement came in response to reports from the independent Cuban Commission on Human Rights that at least 24 mental patients died of hypothermia this week, and that the hospital did not do enough to protect them from the cold because of problems such as faulty windows.

NEWS ANCHORMAN TELLS TRUTH ABOUT BIG NEWSMEDIA

http://thecanadiansentinel.blogspot.com/2010/01/news-anchorman-tells-us-truth-about-big.html

Anonymously, of course. Probably afraid of terrible retaliation from the Big Old Media et al. Obviously fears for future of career, at least.

And guess what? Nothing he says comes as a surprise to those of us who can tell by simply watching and analysing the "news" and what and how it covers it. He confirms it all, as he's been on the inside and has seen how it all works, for 30 years.

Yep. Everything we say about the Big Old Media... it's all true.

The senate seat vacated by the murderer ted kennedy is owned by the people of mass not the dems.

As for the polls they say anywere from a 4 to 13 point spread in favour of Brown.

Lets all pray the dems crash and burn. Or should that be the mafia as the conservatives in the U.S. are starting to call them?

oops, looks like I'm late for the party. I have been on the road for a few days and this is the first chance I have had to get on the net.

But I have been listening to Foxnews on Sirius radio.

tired of all the ctv bullshit? ask someone who actually had eyeballs on the situation...

"I spent seven months in Haiti as a CF soldier on a UN tour (UNMIH) back in the 90's."

"At that time it was not in the midst of a major "natural" disaster as it is now - instead
it was in the routine of a long-term, self-made disaster which continues to this day."

Many of the well known aid agencies bleed off as much as 95% of the money they collect. That's right, only 5 cents of every dollar goes to those hungry little African kids they plaster onto our TV screens, 24/7.

Code Iffy Pink*.

Liberal "Ignatieff did not seem fazed by the protesters".

MSM covers for Iffy.

Taliban Jack LaytoNDP's cadres set this up?

Iffy is aping his Harvard buddy O, and O's phony "“town-hall” meetings".
...-

"Greenpeace protest interrupts Ignatieff’s town hall in Vancouver"

"According to the Greenpeace website, a similar protest is being planned at the University of Ottawa on Monday, the next stop of the Liberal leader’s cross-country tour."

It seems most of the students at these university town halls have only one thing on their minds: the "tar sands" and shutting them down to battle climate change. Lord help us all, these kids have been brainwashed into zombies.

dp:

You can't even trust official statistics on charities. "Feed the Children" in the US, run by one Larry Jones, boasts that "91% of its expenses are program expenses" with 6% for fundraising, and only 3% for management. But their own site says that they pick up most of their donations as "in kind" donations from manufacturers (e.g. overruns on food products, stuff they couldn't sell, etc.). So if manufacturers donate, say, $100 million in products, and FTC raises $10 million in cash, according to FTC, that means spending $6 million of the $10 million cash raised on fundraising fits within their guideline.

So what are the program costs? Why, shipping it on highly branded "Feed The Children" trucks, which roll all over US highways. But FTC trucking is a wholly owned subsidiary of the charity, its president is Larry Jones' daughter, and she makes a very good salary, thank you very much.

Other watchdog organizations suggest that 60-70% of FTC's cash raised is spent on fundraising. Here's a link to many damaging reports:
http://callonjesus.info/blog/?p=25

I don't know if Canada's FTC is in anyway related to the US one, but I would certainly be checking before I sent them a dime.

I know one thing, KevinB. CTV would go out of business, without the revenue from all those save the children ads.

Has anyone noticed, some of the kids on those ads have been on TV for years? They seem to age like Bart Simpson.

O,nO, O bashed by a black man.

Black man said: “‘I am very angry with Obama.”

The black man makes these statements:
1. “We are the first black people who put an end to slavery.”

2. O is “the first black president of the U.S.”.

Which country made those slaves? France.
…-

“Hilaire’s anger spoke for itself, but who did he direct it against?

‘I am very angry with Obama. We are the first black people who put an end to slavery. We need the first black president of the U.S. to help us — not in four days, not in five or 15. Now.’

(Notably, Mr. Hilaire also appears in today’s Times of London report, but his answer to this last question is not included in that paper.)”

.I apologize for changing the subject of this thread, but a letter in the NP struck a cord. Jean Critien prorogued Parliament 4 times. On one of those occasions it was for 83 days. He did it to stop questions on the Sponsorship Scandal. Harper prorogued Parliament for only 3 weeks if you subtract the 2 weeks of Olympics. As an addition, as far as the Afghan "detainees" are concerned, our soldiers were using the Protocol signed with the Afghan Government by the PM Liberals
You're not likely to see this in any MSM content. Is that why the NP is the only one of CanWest-Global's elements not filing for bankruptcy?

Very good article in the Ottawa Citizen re the prorogation issue. "The prorogation of Parliament is no threat to democracy.": http://tinyurl.com/yazqr8s

Worth a read, for sure. The author (a former Parliamentary clerk, if I am not mistaken) exposes the shallow thinking (and genuine ignorance) of the 170 professors and their letter of outrage.

Lest We Forget.

liberal iffy’s mccallum: “that is a war crime.”

“McCallum: “I think the bigger weight is bread-and-butter issues, jobs and getting your children to school and all of those things. But I also think Canadians do care about democracy and about the high-handed, undemocratic attitude and actions of this government, and I think proroguing adds to the total character picture of Mr. Harper, and the fact that they may have been committing war crimes, handing over detainees knowing that they were very likely to be tortured, that is a war crime. And the fact that they’re covering it up, I think many Canadians do care about those things as well as caring about economic issues.”

Some actually pretty decent blog posts from the Chronicle Herald's reporter and photographer sailing to Haiti in Athabaskan.

They don't get it exactly right, but then they have only been hanging around sailors for 36 hours.

Al Gore's Weather (AGW): "World Misled"? Not.

Bury the United Nations in the PET Cemetery.

"World misled over Himalayan glacier meltdown

"A WARNING that climate change will melt most of the Himalayan glaciers by 2035 is likely to be retracted after a series of scientific blunders by the United Nations body that issued it.

Two years ago the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) issued a benchmark report that was claimed to incorporate the latest and most detailed research into the impact of global warming. A central claim was the world's glaciers were melting so fast that those in the Himalayas could vanish by 2035.

In the past few days the scientists behind the warning have admitted that it was based on a news story in the New Scientist, a popular science journal, published eight years before the IPCC's 2007 report.

It has also emerged that the New Scientist report was itself based on a short telephone interview with Syed Hasnain, a little-known Indian scientist then based at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi."
