Here's a big reason why politicians LOVE pumping up the Climate Change scare!

This should make for some interesting headlines in the next couple of days:

"Google Considering Pullout After ChiCom Hacks"

I could see myself sitting at home beside a large General Electric wooden radio, and listening to this tune as the fire crackles in the parlour stove!! Thanks Vit!

Any of you catch John McCallum on with Suhanna this afternoon where he actually said the government is guilty of war crimes by knowingly handing over prisoners to the afghans, where they would be tortured. She gave him an out by saying it was the govt, not the troops.
Anyone got video of PM Harper or any Cabinet ministers in Afghanistan doing this horrible deed.
Wasn't he Defence Minister when the troops went over, and were there not memos, documents, telling the liberal govt that prisoners might be tortured.
So, how would he know what was going on unless it was knowingly going on under his watch. I will never believe our troops did any such thing.
Iffy better condemn him ASAP, or he will be painted as giving the orders for McCallum to say that.

McCallum's a slimeball, par excellence'. He decieved us for months on the Dingwall payoff, which was given ,in my opinion,as hush money on the Friday before the Monday election.McCallum oozes repugnance.

Chretien, McCallum(Defence) and Graham(Foreign Affairs)(The "Three Stooges")in 2005 were all well aware of problems with Afghan prisons when they approved the original agreement to hand prisoners over to them instead of the Americans. They were supposedly worried about prisoners being treated like prisoners in Gitmo.

Don't worry about all those soon to be starving millions,we'll send all those pushers of "Global Warming" nonsense like Al Gore to the Soylent factories!

Thanks for the music tonight. I can remember this music from when I was a kid, when my parents listened to the now old wooden big box radio. Also Boston Blackie, Ma Perkins, Hopelong Cassidy, et al. Still like listening to the big band music a few times a year.

Robert W. Cafferty made the right call, Pelosi is a horrible woman. Cafferty is the only decent guy left on CNN.

wallyj, couldn't have said it better, McCallum is a slim-ball par excellence.

Mr.G, this should fit right into Dianne Francis's thought for the future. The writer of the article in the link of course blames the weather on humans. What a moron!

Ladies and gentlemen:

I hope all of you have SDA on your "bookmarks" list. But I recommend that all of you add "zerohedge.com" to that list as well.

Like SDA, some of the comments are over the top. But the articles in general are the most intelligent and telling of the corruption and malfeasance on Wall Street. If you have money invested, or money to invest, you owe it to yourself to visit this site regularly. Forewarned is forearmed.

PS

While I comment at zerohedge like I do at SDA, I receive no compensation from either site, and I have no stake in either site. I think they both provide a valuable public service, and that is why I promote them.

hmmm...link to comment page seems to be broken on the "I don't want to go there..." thread

Alex,

MaCallum can't even remember the type of car he drives...how is he supposed to remember if there were problems with prisoner abuse under the Liberal government?

Want proof of bias in the media?

Check out a post at the weekly standard on the mass senate debate:

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/brown-and-coakley-debate-massachusetts

key grafs:

"The debate was moderated by CNN's David Gergen. Near the end of the debate, he had two questions for Brown and Coakley each. After putting Brown on the spot over Roe v. Wade and "climate change," Gergen turned to the Democrat with his hardest hitting questions of the night.

"Do you think it was right to insist on three people being at the debate?" Gergen asked Coakley. Yes, she did.

He followed up with this doozy: "As you look back on the campaign, do you have any second thoughts on how the campaign has unfolded?"

"Absolutely not," she said."

Nauseating and nary a peep in the MSM.

Written hastily as I head out to work:

Bambam's administration is happily touting, according to CNBC, that their $787 billion stimulus has saved "2 million jobs". Maybe my arithmetic is off, but couldn't they have just sent checks for $75,000 to 10 million families, virtually eliminated unemployment, and done so with less cost and more efficiency? Just sayin'...

'Same as mecheng: The comment link's broken on the McCallum calumny above.

I watched the clip from CBC, however, and it's hard to believe what's coming out of McCallum's mouth, especially seeing as it's HIS government that made the deal with the Afghans about handing over detainees.

He's about as low and slimy as they get. 'Sorry Suhanna's letting him off the hook wasn't in the clip. But who's surprised? It's the low and slimy Corrupt Broadcasting Corpse after all. Sleaziness and lack of journalistic integrity is in their DNA.

BTW, great pick, Vit.

comments not working on the Above McCallum article

There is something wrong with the comments utility on the CBC/McCallum interview entry. It's not there.

I just wanted to ask if anyone else has noticed that the comments under CBC articles are full of well deserved nasty remarks about CBC of late. This one is no exception. You'd think they'd get the point, but I've also noticed the CBC seems to think itself beyond criticism by the great unwashed who simply pay for their studios and salaries and whatnot.

Only occasionally Louise. I was on CBC.com last evening and it was nauseating. At the moment the agree/disagree ratio seems to favour the comments that diss CBC and Mccallum. Watch for that to change as the regular CBC readers climb out of bed (Trawnna) ;)
Mccallum's statement is disgusting. I would like to see him or Ignatief repeat that to a soldier and see the response.
Let's just for a minute assume PMSH prorogued because of the Lib's accusations: it would serve the purpose of sparing our soldiers that are over there now the disrespect and abuse that they(the military) were taking from the Libs and the media. However, the Libs and MSM just won't quit.

Thanks for the link 'BC Monkey'.

This article from NRO offers an interesting parallel between Barack Obama and Clement Attlee of all people. It supports with historical detail Mark Steyn's contention that health care "reform" will shift politics irrevocably leftward.

The Cafferty video was surprising, Robert W. Equally interesting were the comments, which were much more vitriolic than one that I posted recently at CNN's website. (That comment was suppressed.)

The most optimistic interpretation of this apparent turn against the Democrats is that CNN, being a corporation that seeks always to remain in sync with its customers, senses a change in public sentiment. I hope that's the case.

Tales from the Workers Paradise - "It Sucks"

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/saskatchewan/story/2010/01/12/sk-pension-hike-injunction.html

A Saskatchewan employer's plan to hike pension plan contributions to more than half of its workers wages has been halted by the courts. The employer is the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees Union...

The workers argued that such a huge pension plan increase, combined with income tax payments and other deductions, would reduce their take-home pay to barely 20 per cent of their salary...

"We fully appreciate that this sucks," said Bob Bymoen, president of the SGEU. "Its all done within the laws and we're following the direction of the actuaries and the superintendent of pensions."

History catches up with The Beaver

Canada's second-oldest magazine, The Beaver, is changing its name after 90 years because the title is too often censored by on[snip] p[snip]n filters, preventing it from reaching new on[snip] readers...

The publication will appear in its last issue under the old banner in February-March. Thereafter it will be known by the less controversial name of Canada's History.

Looks like our only MSM conservative newspaper in Canada has spotted the trouble with Finance Minister Flaherty. The runt doesn't have a calculator....or integrity.....or courage....

It's time for a tough-love budget

National Post Published: Wednesday, January 13, 2010

"We're looking forward to today's release of the latest budgetary forecast by Parliamentary Budget Officer Kevin Page. The report, which projects Canada's fiscal state forward five years, will apparently once again show what Mr. Page has been warning of for some time -- that Canada is now mired in a structural deficit. Finance Minister Jim Flaherty is quick to deny that this is the case, insisting that Canada will naturally grow out of the deficit as economic activity returns to normal levels, raising government revenues.

Unfortunately, given some of Mr. Flaherty's past statements on such matters, we're more inclined to trust Mr. Page. We recall with concern the seeming inability of Mr. Flaherty to see the looming crisis, and particularly the resulting deficits, until they were already upon him. One cannot go from predicting slim surpluses one month to running a $56-billion deficit the next and hope to remain credible. We therefore encourage the oft-mistaken Finance Minister to reconsider his position.

The Minister's hands are partially tied by a series of commitments that can't be broken -- including defence spending and transfer payments to the provinces -- but given the explosive rate of spending growth under a supposedly fiscally conservative government, we're sure that there are vote-buying programs a-plenty that could be sacrificed on the altar of sound fiscal stewardship.

Many of these cuts would be painful, not only for the Canadians directly impacted, but for the government, too -- dashing their hopes to spend and stimulate their way to a majority. But if the Conservatives wish to begin to undo some of the damage Mr. Flaherty's erroneous predictions have done to their claim to the fiscally prudent high ground, shrinking the federal budget to better reflect the current state of the Canadian economy would help a great deal.

The Harper government, and Mr. Flaherty in particular, should consider that carefully before ignoring Mr. Page's report today as quickly as they have all his others.

Olympic secrets revealed

A NEW COLD WAR
Top Secret is part of an ambitious shift in Canadian sporting priorities, a change born of the sad fact that Canada has never won an Olympic gold medal on its home soil; not in Montreal in 1976, nor in Calgary in 1988. To prevent a repeat of that humiliation, Own the Podium (OTP) was created—a $110-million program jointly funded by government and corporations designed to give Canada’s elite winter athletes the kind of financial, medical and technical support other leading sport nations take for granted.
