RE: Eric Tillman

I was going to comment on CBC.Ca, however the follewing worlds are posted at the bottom of the story. "This story is closed to commenting."

Lets talk aboud screwed up moral values.

A: Why is CBC blocking our freedom of expression?
B: Why are the courts protecting this guy?
C: Why have men gone to jail for lesser offenses and why did they get rapped with a criminal record.

Obama hung in effigy in Jimmy Carter's home town of Plains, GA.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20100104/ts_alt_afp/uspoliticsobamathreat

Anybody watch Obama's response today re the Christmas Day event? He was terrible IMHO. Imperious, detached, and uninspiring. How would you like to be a CIA or intelligence agent, and have "the boss" tell you that the missed dot connecting was unacceptable, and he won't tolerate it? I'm also getting very tired of the "make no mistake" statement. Just because I don't agree with him, it's not a mistake. And I'm also tired of his "false choice" statements.

Very good column by the very capable rich lowry on the ginch bomber:

http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=NmI2ZDlhZWIyM2U0ZDRhMjUwYTY4NGQzZjczNjE5Nzg=

[ Individuals with inside knowledge about scientists, businesses, or any organization who knowingly used false statements to get (or keep) government money to perpetuate the “climate change” machine should consider a lawsuit under the federal False Claims Act.

The False Claims Act permits whistleblowers to sue in the name of the government as a “qui tam” plaintiff. Qui tam whistleblowers have used the FCA for decades to police (some would say hound) government contractors accused of obtaining government money by means of false statements. What’s the non-altruistic incentive for exposing fraud on the government? Successful whistleblowers can keep a share of the money that a federal judge or jury says should be paid back to the government, sometimes up to 30% of the recovery. Indeed, whistleblowers have recovered hundreds of millions of dollars in these suits over the last 20 years.] Breittbart

Lets see now, 30% of $84 Billion is ... carry the 1, and

Paraphrasing Dennis Miller . . . "how come the underwear bomber can't be debriefed?"

Cbc,our taxpayer-funded national news source has a story up about the 'facebook' uprising over the prorogation... Fair enough. But,but, but, they also have a link up to the facebook site, where you can join and pump up the numbers.Watch for another 'faux' scandal, using these numbers. FIRE.THEM. ALL. ... The audacity of this company,as they take our money and spit in our faces,is very stressful. We need a majority, and we need it soon. Go to CBC's website and demand an election.

Sorry, forgot the link,on the right hand side look at cbc'c external links.---http://www.cbc.ca/politics/story/2010/01/04/facebook-group-prorogation.html ---

Eubie Blake and his Orchestra can play, but can they cook?

Saw many of MSM's reports on the undiebomber matter, most recently that by CTV's Paul Workman just moments ago. All are the same. The constant theme: Obama's getting tough; Obama's not gonna take it anymore. Reporting that's completely devoid of direct criticism of the president himself, instead spreading the blame among others. Wondering when Workman, Bonner, Sorensen and company are going to remind their viewers that Obama was supposed to bring "change", extending an olive branch, marginalizing the extremists, making America a less likely target of an attack than what they, for years, joyously claimed was the case with what they called the more confrontational, provocative, extermist-inciting style and way of GWB.

No doubt that had the most recent incident taken place on Dec 25, 2007, for example, the president would've been the main target of their criticism, with the reasons cited above.

Joe Citizen, cbc does not allow comments on stories about sexual abuse. I agree, though it would be interesting to hear the details of the case. There are different degrees of sexual abuse. But, an absolute discharge, why? A discharge of 12 gauge may have been appropiate, but we won't know?

Wally, I documented that "Hate Harper" Facebook group here. Oh, I realize that they're calling it something else but take a look at the many photos uploaded and you'll think you're on the Liberal Party of Canada site.

I concur, let's call their bluff and also demand an election!

Maybe there should be a Facebook page:

'Shut down the CBC'.

Let's see which gets more supporters.

The political naivety of the poster on that FB page is astounding! Here are a few samples:

Greg Foard Think this is bad, folks? Imagine for a moment Harper with a majority. That's why things like this page are so important!!

Joseph ALves I think Canadians have to forgive the Liberal government for past sins. Afterall they did do alot for this country in keeping people productive and working while in power. We had good times under the Liberals. We were more kind and forward looking and had a respectable reputation around the world. But power has a way t...o corrupt any government the longer they stay in office. This is why we vote, to bring the power back to the people.
Oh yeah and get back to work !!

Just now, I was walking by a box-like object with a bright window. Inside was a guy, Tom Kennedy(?) with three letters(cbc?) behind his name. He was, in the middle of a planetary snowstorm, explaining that the extreme world wide weather is caused by the ... northatlanticoscilation .. huh?

I noticed Al Gore standing behind the box but was not asked, this time, to come to the window.

Idiot Box! That is what my Dad called it - back in the 60s already.

Cross posted from an earlier SDA blog posting...

How many of those who have joined this Facebook group voted conservative in the past? How many would’ve considered voting for them in the next election without prorogation? And how many undecided voters (and I don’t mean those who have yet to decide between the Liberals, NDP, Greens etc.) comprise this group‘s members? Virtually none. I’d be surprised if it’s even 5%, or 1,000 of its members when the Star chose to incorporate hyperbole into its headline.

This is quite clearly another case of objective analysis by MSM having been supplanted by their wishful thinking. In other words, it’s not an issue that will actually damage the gov’t in the long run as the Star’s headline clearly intends to imply, but one that they hope and want to see damage the gov’t.

Looking at the polls where they are and where they will be no doubt in March (probably even better for PMSH with an ever-improving economy, a budget, and a Liberal leader circling the toilet bowl… wasn‘t he the second coming of Trudeau? Oh yeah - wishful thinking again), it must suck to be in MSM. How many times can they jump the shark?

According to the radio report I heard, Eric Tillman, under the influence of prescription medication saw his babysitter as she was feeding the children, bend over in front of him. He grabbed her by the belt loops and pulled her towards himself. He claims to have no memory of the incident.

Excellent questions, Jon! If/when the "big protest" occurs, if I'm here in Vancouver at the time I plan to go down & politely video the thousands/hundreds/dozen (?) protesters. Among all the questions I ask them, yours will be included.

A Canadian story that has been under the radar is the long strike of Vale Inco in Sudbury, Ontario. I have many friends there and so am following the strike a lot more closely than most.

Just before Christmas the union pulled this stunt. Strangely enough, even though Sudbury is generally a very left-wing community, many of the comments to this story did not support the union using children.

Finally, the union and the NDP are trying to use this strike against the federal Conservatives and Tony Clement.

Liberal leaders miss repaying loans from 2006: http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/Would+Liberal+leaders+miss+2006+debt+deadline/2406322/story.html

And they want to control your tax money, folks!

Lunatic fringe leftist Maude Barlow has arisen from the dead to appear in the Globe and Mail on Tuesday.

(from the intro): "Canada's international reputation as a progressive middle power is gone"

Big deal. "Progressive" is an anti-concept that means "Big Government". It's a step back to the Dark Ages of coercion and away from freedom. A lot of people called the Soviet Union "progressive", despite all the bloodshed.

(from the closing): "In a world calling out for new models of justice, conflict resolution and environmental stewardship ..."

What is this "new model of justice"? Robert Mugabe? That's the kind of "model of justice" and "conflict resolution" extreme leftists usually come up with when they seize power -- killing their enemies, real or imagined. "New model" is another anti-concept.

(from the closing): "Stephen Harper with a majority frightens me."

BOO!

I would never give him carte blanche and I don't agree with everything he's done or omitted to do, but I still have high hopes for a majority. If he gets one and doesn't finally act on his principles, we should say so.

Disturbing Imagery Below (Do not read just before going to bed)

Imagine Maude Barlow and Elizabeth May . . . married . . . to each other!!!

Actually it's not that difficult to imagine. Though I think there'd soon be too much jealousy . . . about who's more shrill!

"Met Office warns of 40cm of snow within hours in South East"

"Paul Simons, The Times Weatherman, warned that the icy conditions were locked in and a thaw was unlikely.

“There is no end in sight,” he said. “It will be grim followed by grim followed by bleak.

“This sort of set-up is a chilling throwback to some of our worst winters in history, such as the Winter of Discontent when snow began to fall before Christmas, and blizzards later paralysed the country.

“There might be some interludes of better conditions but they won’t last.”"

"Friday: The Met Office has detected signs of a very large snowfall blowing in from Europe across eastern England, where it will feel bitterly cold in a strong easterly wind. 0C during the day, 0C to -8C at night, possibly dropping to -20C in parts of Scotland"

'Was watching the old Mother Corpse last night to catch I'm-Peter-Mansbridge-and-You're-not interview Prime Minister Stephen Harper. 'Caught Smiley-Face, can't remember his name, on his own show ('can't remember its name either) talking about the Facebook pushback to prorogation.

He said he wasn't at all partisan, as he stood before a changing slide show of send-ups of PMSH on the Facebook site, but that he supported Canadians' democratic rights to protest, yada, yada, yada.

Keep talking, Smiley.

"London Times forced to recant ads touting NE passage
6 01 2010

From WUWT on October 7th: The surprising real story about this year’s Northeast passage transit: The media botched it

One newspaper is making the most of this “first ever event”, according to a story in the UK Register:

The Times has liberally papered London underground carriages with a fascinating new ad campaign. One poster shows a ship navigating some treacherous icy waters, with the accompanying copy reading:

Climate change has allowed the Northeast Passage to be used as a commercial shipping route for the first time.

Impressive – if only it were true.

In fact it wasn’t, and now the Times has been forced to recant:

From The Register

An advertising campaign touting the depth and quality of the Times newspaper’s environment coverage has been slapped by an industry watchdog for inaccuracy. The paper has agreed to modify the advertisements, which are based on a false climate change claim.

The Times ads claimed that global warming had caused the North East shipping passage, the icy Arctic route which in summer links Russia’s European ports to the Bering Strait, to be opened for the first time. In fact, the North East Passage opened in 1934, and was opened to overseas traffic after the fall of the Soviet Union. Modern technology, specifically radar, has permitted a safer passage in recent years.

Its activists have harassed the Japanese fleet over the past six hunting seasons, including ramming a whaling vessel, and claim to have saved the lives of hundreds of whales."

the press has turned on Iggy, he is in Europe looking for a new job. the libs are about to go with the next second place winner Boob Rae and sincerely turn left left left. Iggy has left the building.

"the libs are about to go with the next second place winner Boob Rae and sincerely turn left left left."
___
I think there may be some truth to this. Libs want another leader in place for the next election (who knows when). From there point of view, the sooner Ignatieff is gone, the better. They will install Rae (as intermim leader, no doubt). Timing is an issue -- when will Ignatieff's MP pension kick in? Maybe it does not matter so much as he can resign as leader and retain his seat in absentia like Paul Martin did. Unless Ignatieff is a masochist, I don't know why he would want to continue (and proroguing of Parliament is a great opportunity to make an exit.)

when a water craft that sets speed records gets its nose sliced of by a lumbering whaling vessel the operators had to be doing something really dumb and dangerous.

I actually disagree with the whaling industry but Im so disgusted with the plethora of 'activists' breaking the laws and doing the 'inyerfaceinyerface' thing constantly I have no sympathy with them either.

Malaysia Busts 104 for Premarital Sex
Morality cops raid budget hotels in New Year's crackdown

(Newser) – Malaysian morality police burst into budget hotels just before dawn on New Year's Day, and arrested 52 unmarried Muslim couples, officials announced today. The couples, most of them students or young factory workers, could face fines and up to two years in prison.

Malaysia’s Islamic Shariah law forbids “khalwat” or “close proximity,” defined as unmarried couples being alone together in a private place. But the law only applies to Muslims, not the country’s Christian, Buddhist, and Hindu minorities.

"‘Frozen Gore’ sculpture returns in Fairbanks to fuel climate change debate

FAIRBANKS - In what might become an annual tradition, an ice sculpture of former Vice President Al Gore has taken its place in front of Thrifty Liquor along Airport Way.

The two-ton “Frozen Gore” sculpture isn’t exactly a tribute. It’s a tongue-in-cheek critique of Gore’s vocal belief in man-made climate change, complete with hot air pouring out of his mouth.

Local businessmen Craig Compeau and Rudy Gavora contracted the piece from award-winning sculptor Steve Dean and say they’ll keep erecting one each winter until Gore accepts an invitation to discuss the global warming issue in Fairbanks.

“We do want to invite debate,” Compeau said. “We don’t agree with his theories — we’re suspicious of the financial motivation behind them.”

This year’s version includes special effects, thanks to a system that pipes the exhaust from a Ford F-350 out of Gore’s open mouth. Compeau will fire up the truck periodically this winter to create the “hot air” effect.

I hope the outcome of the Tillman case wasn't determined or influenced by Rider association.

btw, I thought the "I was too drunk/stoned" defense was thrown out years back. I'm sure the teen victim's memories of being sexually assaulted by an adult will be expunged too.

There wasa video out of the Sea Shepherd waving a laser around the superstructure of a Japanese whaler. The Japanese got a bit miffed at that and turned on the hoses. This is like the kid that got in Dad's new 5 liter Mustang and drove it through the wall of the garage.

In an argument between Greenpeace and a Japanese whaling vessel, I have trouble seeing either side as "the good guys".

Watched Peter Mansbridge interview our PM last night. Peter's face throughout the piece was about as hateful as possible. He certainly wasn't all giddy as I've seen him in past interviews with political people. Maybe he's just afraid to smile at a conservative, could that be it?

Adam Sherwin, BBC denies Doctor Who 'anti-ginger' regeneration

“I’m still not ginger,” cried the new Doctor Who after his latest regeneration. But the BBC has insisted that the Time Lord intended this as a statement of regret after it received complaints from viewers.

Michael Evans, Stoic Philosophy and the Profession of Arms

In the new millennium Western militaries spend a great deal of their resources on training and arming uniformed professionals for the instrumental rigours of operational service. Most modern armed forces equip their personnel with the latest body armour, the best protected vehicles and the most sophisticated counter-explosive electronics, as well as expending millions of dollars acquiring the most advanced medical services for those physically wounded or maimed. Much less time is devoted to providing military personnel with existential or inner armaments—with the mental armour and philosophical protection that is necessary to confront an asymmetric enemy who abides by a different set of cultural rules. Much is also made in today’s Western political and military circles about the need to relearn counter-insurgency with its central tenet of winning “hearts and minds” among contested populations. Yet little is done to provide Western military professionals with sufficient moral philosophy to protect their own hearts and minds against the rigours of contemporary warfare in Iraq and Afghanistan...
