Yes, this was a visit to a classroom - and he can't make any remarks without a teleprompter.

I think this is a requirement of the Great One's handlers. They have realized that they can't let Obama out on his own; they can't let him speak on his own. Notice that Obama hasn't had one single press conference since July. No ad hoc questions are allowed. He's only allowed to speak, one on one, in scripted interviews. Why is this?

Because he gets the BackRoom Gang who run him in trouble.
As I've said so often, my view is that Obama hasn't a thought in his twinkling brain other than his own narcissistic needs, which are to control others ..in a SMALL set around him, and secure their adulation.

He has no intellectual capacity for policies or programs. He's not only ignorant of history and economics but he simply can't 'analyze'; he can't think through a cause-effect situation. The policies Obama is set up to sell are those of the hard-core socialists, the BackRoom Gang, who run him.

Obama's binoculars are all personal; they include a deep-seated racism, anti-Americanism, a need to dominate, and anger at any hint of his losing control over your unwavering adoration.

Notice that when they let Obama loose, he says things, even in those one-on-one interviews that the BRG have to, the next day, issue a hasty retraction.

These can include his infamous 'the police acted stupidly' to his statements that he'd be willing to give up the public health option, or that he'd be willing to....and the next day, Reid or Pelosi or Gibbs issues a 'What Obama Really Meant' statement that denies Obama's declaration.

And there's Pelosi's giggle when we remind her that Obama promised c-span debates on health care, and her admonishment at how stupid we are to believe that a campaign promise..is..a promise.

So, they can't let him loose. He's now a liability that they have to control. So, my question is, when will they ditch him? When will they find him the Master of the World job so they can fling off their new albatross?

If there ever was a single photo that summed up the guy and his presidency that would be it.

But if everything is a symbol, there's nothing left for those symbols to be symbols of, except other symbols. No reality for those symbols to touch down upon. Their entirely unhinged. If Obama were truly in charge, then he'd know what's going on... he'd know his policies (if they were his, that is), etc. So he wouldn't need to be told what to say.

I could do presentations in class without notes, and with just a simple point-form overhead as my guide. Then I'd expand upon the points, getting it all out of my brain the hard way. Funny how the supposed President of the US can't do that. Funny and scary.

I'll take Bush and his honest, human, perfectly-normal verbal stumblings and bumblings any day over that big phony.

Now, if I was one of those kids in the classroom, what would I have learned today?

1)That the president didn't really care about me as a person or student, but as a backdrop for a speech.

2)Always have a big staff around, they will do everything for you if you are important enough.

3)Never make eye contact with your audience, they will be able to tell you are lying.

4)Make sure you have a good speech writer.

5)My tax dollars really, really are going to waste!

He is so completely out-of-touch with his audience that it's unbelievable, except ET has more than adequately described this detachment often.

But even with his teleprompter, the Obamessiah mannerisms and his speaking style is starting to become profoundly irritating. It is so contrived and choreographed that it is sickening.

Actually, if you look at the video, it is even more shameful. There are TWO prompters, one on the left and one on the right.

So he can look genuinely concered when looking left of right.

Maybe it's just me, but doesn't that quote sound like 'getting those pesky, smarter white kids out of the way'. That part could be gleaned Obama talked about new, more innovative ways of measuring success and not a one size fits all approach.

It shouldn't be too much longer because the educational industry has been dumbing them down for about forty years now. That ought to level the playing field a bit.

With billions of bucks being dangled in this "Race To The Top" initiative, it will actually be more of a "Race To The Trough" for the teacher's unions. It is about the (union) teachers .. not the kids.

So part of the curriculum for this program will have to be the requisite "teleprompter reading course", as some could not succeed without it.

Yawn. Please wake me up when Obama's droning is over.

I doubt he even took the time to really speak to these children, just props. It is interesting that the great orator hasn't managed to learn to speak without his teleprompter.

I think that the classroom full of kids is only a back drop, the scripted speach isn't really for them. That being said, whoever thought that this was a good idea should be fired.

I learned a lot over at Pajama's media.

1) Obama cut the funding to DC's voucher programe. $6000/student to attend private school. $28,000/per student to attend the unionized public system....
2) The voucher students averaged 2 grades ahead of the public school stream.
3) Head start is a programe from the "Great Society" era circa 1965 which has eaten up $199 billion with no detectable benefit to the students.....but provided a good living for it's bureaucrats.

This is from the guy who promised to cut programmes that do not work and to support those that do.
I guess we didn't realize his concept of what is working is what is good for the teachers unions and what is bad for the teachers unions is not working.
In Ontario, McSquinty uses this standard. The teachers union is one of his major financial supporters.

maz2, that is interesting - I had never thought of Petraeus as a presidential candidate. Makes sense though - his success in Iraq is sort of like Eisenhower post World War II.

Since I would rather have a 90 minute root canal without anesthetic than listen to 5 minutes of Owebama I will content myself with the ludicrous picture of the big Owe standing in a classroom with a teleprompter keeping his head up. I imagine they actually put an arrow on the teleprompter to tell him when to look at the other prompter. They probably tried putting "look left", "look right" on the prompter but Owe likely thought that those words were part of the speech and he should read them out loud.

You know, this is the first time I've seen him use the teleprompter from a longer camera distance. He looks directly into it - not beyond it. He is indeed just reading from the prompter, ping-ponging back and forth.

The, speak pause speak, cadence he uses appears to be a direct result of him losing his place as he switches between teleprompters. He can not even store the next three words in his brain as he moves back and forth between the screens.

Well at least if a plane crashed into a building, it would be immediately available to him. Only thing is he might read the alert publicly thinking it was part of the script.

Did you notice the gender/race of the kids in the classroom? Good cross section, only 1 or 2 whities.

As an elementary school teacher, I have evaluated hundreds of oral presentations by students up to the age of 14. Obama doesn't even come close to the better ones. Although the speech is no doubt well-organized, his delivery has a number of major flaws. In many of Obama's speeches, I have been struck by the monotone delivery. There was no voice inflection in this speech at all. It's as if he's bored and just going through the motions. Also, I'm fairly certain that his audience would have found his habit of looking over their heads to be quite off-putting. It's not completely clear from the video, but I'm willing to bet he did not make eye contact with a single person. How could he when he had his chin raised so high in order to read the teleprompter? He's like the student who constantly looks at his cue cards. It's impossible to engage your audience with a speaking style like this. By looking from one teleprompter to the next at such regular intervals he makes the movement seem robotic rather than a natural engagement of the whole audience. Lastly, wasn't there an opportunity for some humour, something to lighten the subject material? I'm sure the kids were thrilled to have a visit from the president, but I doubt if anyone really heard or understood what he said.

I am very very happy I am not to longer be working for the Senora Kennedy no more." Then I am go to the Bronx community college and study the dental hygienist. But the one day it is the phone ringing.

I want you go to this Fenway Park and shake the people hands and give the Coakley signs. I am late for the interview on MSNBC." Okay, I do what she say, but it is very very cold and none of the peoples want to take the signs. All of them want to talk to Senor Brown. When this is over, Senor Brown he say he is feeling very bad for me, and so is to give me a hot cocoa and a lift back to the casa in his pickup. When I am getting back, I am surprise to see Senora Coakley very happy. "Oh Rosa, oh Rosa!" she say. "El Presidente Boma is coming for to campaign rallies for me! We are save! We are going to the Washington!" In the next days Senora Coakley and her campaign peoples are very excited to prepare for El Presidente and for to make the attack ads. It is very busy in the house and I am try to make sure there are enough ashtrays for El Presidente, but the attack ad people keep to ask me, "Rosa! How do you spell Massachusettes?" But when Senora Coakley and the people are come back from the rally with El Presidente Boma, they are all being very quiet with the angry looks. The next days before the election days the house is like the funeraria, and all of the people are making the updating resumes on the computers. Senora Coakley is alone in the kitchen practicing the smiles and throwing the Ben and Jerrys. I am alone in the house last night and I watch the election on the television. I am try to watch this on Telemundo, but Senora Coakley is making the TVs only to work for MSNBC. Dio me perdone, but I am relief when Senora Coakley make her concession speech because maybe she will get on with her life and stop crying and throwing the ice creams. But then television peoples are now saying the bad things about her. They say she is the very bad candidate. And then Senora Coakley`s peoples are angry and they say that El Presidente Boma is to blame. All I know is that there is going to be a lot of ice cream to clean up when she is get back. In this morning when I get to the kitchen Senora Coakley is standing there with the Democratic advisor people. And they are all very angry. At me. "Have I done something wrong Senora?" I say. "Rosa! You have done everything wrong!" they are yelling. "There is no way we could lose the election. Everybody in the Massachusetts loves El Presidente Boma and his health care! Everyone loves Senora Coakley and Tio Teddy! You are the reason, Rosa! You have lost this election just like you did with Senora Kennedy in Nueva York. Rosa, you are the cursed!" Where in God's green earth did the info that Obama was a great orator come from. He's always seemed to me to be devoid of the ability to connect with people. Is it a cultural thing? Am I missing something or is this guy a complete dud?

One hardly needs even cue cards to talk to kids in a classroom. Where is that stunning charisma and erudition?

158 interviews and 411 speeches in his first year and he's promising more. I don't often feel sorry for inanimate objects but poor TOTUS, what did it ever do to deserve this kind of abuse?

That he uses a prompted is irrelevant to me. What he has promised and then done is what matters. And what he has promised and done on education is by far the biggest reversal and act of dishonesty that he has committed (thusfar at least). During the campaign he spoke a t length about bringing in a voucher system - a direct challenge to the teachers union that got him a lot of support from moderate black journos and others most notably Clarence Page. Vouchers are what will truly level the education playing field and hold teachers to account as well.

Almost immediately after he was sworn in he completely abandoned that policy position and fell completely online with the unions (ie that the solution was more money - ignoring the fact that the us spends more per student than pretty might anywhere else in the world with far worse outcomes for many).

To me such an act proved two things:

1. That BO was truly a non-racial guy at his core - that he would screw over blacks if it suited his needs inthis case catering to unions that along with trial lawyers bankrolled his campaign. Using the black vote and then ignoring their interests was a continuation if a time-honoured tradition of the democrat elite.

2. He is a socialist to his very core - unions and big government are what he believes in, not markets and accountability. This should come as no surprise since he has never in his life been held to account.

Until now....

I sometimes look at the political cartoon in a newspaper to get a chuckle. I guess I have one less reason to read the newspaper now that Kate is posting cartoons like this one on the web.

Frankly, in my view, he's just plain dumb. He's not an 'A' student. Not even a B. He's a C minus or even a D.
He's unable to think in a critical linear fashion, from cause to effect. He has no curiosity to learn about things' I'd call him intellectually lazy; he's extremely ignorant about history, economics, political structure, demographics.

He's managed to get along in life by personal manipulation and he's very good at that, by being 'charming', by pretending to be 'folksy' and ..by race. He's used race for all its worth and has managed to get by in school and the political world on his charm and his use of race.

The problem with manipulation is that it's a productive tactic only in SMALL populations, only with those whom you directly interact. Manipulative strategies don't work in large populations because you can't control everyone's reaction. There's always the boy in the crowd who yells out: But the Emperor has no clothes!

To control large populations, such emotional manipulation is useless. You require FORCE. Fear, anger and retribution. Will Obama move to this?

He's an extremely angry individual. Angry at whites - he was fathered by a black man who abandoned him, raised by two white women who were ambivalent about that man and his race, thus creating in Obama a deep conflict.

He's angry at wealth - very angry at anyone who has wealth.
He's angry at people who WORK and earn their way in the world without resorting to manipulation. He's angry at anyone who succeeds by MERIT.

He can't handle criticism, he can't handle accountability. He's very fragile, really.

And, he requires a strong woman around him to keep him cocooned in this anger: his mother the socialist; his grandmother; Michelle who is anti-American and anti-white.

Obama has never been in a position where he is accountable. Given his narcissism, his anger, his antipathy to middle class Americans - how will he deal with this loss of prestige and power in his presidency?

And, what about the gang who run him as their puppet salesman? I think they have to ditch him; they have to find him some 'uber-job' in the UN or elsewhere where he can pontificate and do his vapid speeches daily...and yet affect nothing.

Race to the top? But but but - that's encouraging *gasp* competition!? It means everybody else is a loser!
