If Women Ran The World

We'd all still live in caves, with really, really fancy curtains.*

Being safe is over-rated.

Kathy really needs to come out of her shell, tell us what she really thinks! LOL.

Absolutely classic. As she was reaming off the office conversations, I was ticking them off in the "yup" column.

Darn babe, I brought that Saber Tooth's hide back to the cave to make a door covering. Looks good on you though.

But don't forget that everything men do in this world is 'in order to get some.'

So if women ran 'the cave' she would demand that her man build an hermetically sealed and nuclear blast safe one and defend it with a sophisticated army and strap a helmet on his toddler before he goes off to cure cancer.

In other words, women DO run the world, they just don't realize it.

Classic Kathy. Funny with some truth, and why we keep going back to read which group is getting the gore today.

No one is exempt....even her own gender.

I hope you're feeling better now that you've gotten the flail all out, else, I suggest resting, feet up~

My feelings about my own sex (gender is term from French grammar...) are "complicated."

I was raised by nuns from what we used to call nursery school to what we used to call Grade 13. That, and it being the 60s and 70s, it never occurred to me that I couldn't be, say, an astronaut or anything else. When you grow up learning about women who set up and ran hospitals and schools (or led armies and 'slew dragons') 500 years before you were born, you just take that stuff for granted.

I prefer music by female vocalists, bios of famous women and movies with female leads (check out 'Johnny Guitar' sometime for a mind-blow...).

But: hell is other women, to paraphrase Sartre. _Ordinary_, unexceptional, timid women irritate and depress me. I feel that way about people in general but when women are silly, I feel it reflects upon me somehow, and effects how I will be judged/treated one day.

I see that in Kate's last installment I mentioned Danica Patric, who is the -only- woman to ever have won an Indy car race.

Today, as the subject is the workplace, I'll mention the inventor of the table saw, a Shaker lady name of Tabitha Babbit. She came up with a circular saw to cut shingles based on a spinning wheel, her being a weaver. The old girl couldn't see why it took two men to make a little thing like a shingle, thought it was a waste of labor.

In the history of tools, Miss Babbit figures as the inventor of a very important machine. She is also hugely outnumbered by men in that regard.

OTOH, men on the whole are crap at looking after children. They can do it, they just suck at it.

Sky is blue, water is wet, men ain't like women.

Don't worry Kathy, it isn't just you. Working with women in a hospital IS hell. I did it, I've got the gray hairs and psychic scars to prove it.

Of course, working with men is no picnic either. Too much machismo and turf protecting, not enough getting the job done.

I detect a pattern here.

Bottom line, for the motivated, highly intelligent and cranky, self employment is The Way. But, it is difficult to fire yourself when you f- things up. ~:D

There was a book on this published maybe 5 years ago ( can't remember the damn title ), written by a business woman, no less.

It showed that in most North American Household the woman decides where 80 % of the money goes.

No matter if the money is all earned by the man...

I doubt it was mentioned in the book but women also control where and when sex is going to happen 80 % of the time...just ask any man...

And feminists complain men control everything???

Give me a break !!!

Women are cautious and that's why we live longer than men. Married men live longer cuz we push them to go see the doctor.

Men basically still have more free time than women so they do stuff.

We'd all still live in caves, with really, really fancy curtains.

Disagree.
Women invented "keeping up with the Jones".

When there weren't enough caves to go around and cave dwelling women saw other women were living in huts they all had to have a hut too.

Then when they saw that a hut could be anywhere, unlike a cave, they wanted better locations, waterfront property preferable.

Men are naturally lazy and usually content with their circumstances.
It takes women to motive men to get better circumstances.

Loved the whole rant -- esp. the stuff about women falling for every sob stories.

It's why my TV hasn't been even been switched on (except on Sun eves for Simpsons, King of the Hill) in YEARS. No exaggeration. My exposure to TV happens ONLY while I'm getting my hair cut, eating in diner, etc. And even that's too often for my liking.

And Kathy is absolutely correct about women being sadly susceptible to the latest nonsensical mass phobia like killer peanuts or whatever because it allows them to make a public display of their "concern" -- a concern that could be more meaningfully expressed to their children in other, less showy ways.

Also:

"Marie Curie had a career. You probably don't."

LOL!

Kathy is correct about women being susceptible to the latest mass phobia.
It's all about women wanting security and keeping up with the Jones.

Women are fashion slaves.
There is a reason why women's clothing outlets outnumber men's 7 to one at any large mall.

Unfortunately, these traits don't bode well for democracy.

humans are ego-centric by nature, and mostly emotional reactionaries, the farther left/female you go , the more so this generally applies

there fore liberal males are only marginally "males":-))))

Listen to that Alexander feller!

Smart enough to make great T-shirts, including Kathy's famous "You're not smart enough to tell me how to live" and a collection of HRC T-shirts.

Women bring inequality on themselves:

-Most of you were raised and taught social norms by your mothers.
-If men really are superior, then it should stay that way.
-If inequality is caused by men, then they have zero reason to change their ways because it's working well for them.
-But, if inequality were caused by women and we were raised to believe such-and-such, then it could be reversed very easily.

Incidentally, the only people who have ever told me that I simply can't have my views on women are die hard Liberals. I would say what I meant, and they would refuse to compute it, because, as a woman, I am simply not entitled to speak about women!

Of course, to reverse it:

-Ugly women HAVE to stop being SO DAMN cranky about beautiful women, especially SUCCESSFUL beautiful women!
-Women have to stop hating women who get ahead in life (ie Thatcher) who don't spend half of their time moaning about how tough it is to be female.

I'm a bit conflicted on this one. The nature of women in groups is very different than the nature of women individually. Yes, in groups, they tend to be quite boring and conformists. OTOH, as individuals, they are a lot more interesting and diverse. They just have this strange need to repress their thoughts in order to 'get along'. Whereas men in groups will argue with each other just for fun (and then inevitably descend into locker room talk)

Reading KS's rant gives me the same creepy feeling as those written from the perspective of white liberal guilt or a condescending feminists. Kate's opinion is closer to my observations - the majority of women are just content with the status quo. The job for conservatives/libertarians is to find messages that appeal to women without compromising their core values.

If women ruled the world.....

Ouch!!!!
Margarette Thatcher, Golda Meyer, Indira Ghandi, Banzenar Bhutto.....were all war lords....
Turkey had a close call with that Ciller woman....they gave her the boot while she was in the process of starting 3 wars at once.

The main problem our society has gender-wise is that women are more than ready to emulate the sterotypes the Media----MSM and schools--- provide.

A sub-set of Kathy's designated group are those who are prospective teachers. They have an almost prurient interest in child abuse, the effects of alcohol and second-hand smoke on children, the dire consequences of unhealthy foods in schools (usually the same ones they themselves choose when they are able), the horrors of peanut butter allergies and the struggle to establish various gender identities; indeed, almost every type of catastrophe other than the failure of schools actually to teach any useful skills or knowledge to their students.

Huh?

'The job for conservatives/libertarians is to find messages that appeal to women without compromising their core values.'

Yuck.

No, the job for conservatives/libertarians is to speak the truth about human nature etc whether it "appeals" to females or not.

Glad Kathy said all the stuff she did.

Doubt I could ever get away with it, without a whole bunch of profuse disclaimers throughout such a post to satisfy the paranoid feminazis who'd scream sexism and go bawling to the CHRC on me.

I think that those women who think in such brainless manners are victims of an upbringing and society which tend to brainwash them into being victims and activists, followers of political correctness and of the Hard Left.

Those women who've been able to resist or break free of the fascism that keeps so many of their sisters down, well, such independently thinking women should be the leaders of the other women, who need to be shown that they can be whatever they want to be and don't have to submit to brainwashing and political correctness.

Yep. The Kates and Kathys of the world. The Sarah Palins and Michelle Bachmans and Danica Patricks. Of course, the Big Old Media can't be counted on to be fair to such women. Nevertheless, I envision a world in which more women will end up breaking free of the shackles of "what they're supposed to be like, what they're supposed to think", etc...

And, really, Kate's not fooling me... like, her grasp of various difficult subjects that go over my head, well, rather humbles me, a guy with a mind of his own, himself...

But I still wouldn't be surprised to find out that Kate's got "really fancy" curtains at home (me, I prefer simple blinds which I purchased at Canadian Tire).

By the way, we certainly do need jet engines. Big, bad turbofans, afterburning or supercruising. Why? 'Cause, the Enemy's got 'em and we must have 'em, too, else the Enemy will put big guns on their jets and come and blow us away... Duh!

Uh-oh... 24's on... Bye!

Women are extremely kind, gentle and understanding, so why are they almost impossible to understand and get along with? Also, ones like Kathy can see through other women in a flash, and they rarely trust one another. There never seems to be any woman good enough for their male children. Etc..

It depends on what you view as 'truth' about human nature, KS.

For example, in general people will only do things if it is made easy (even when it is in their own interest to do these things). Men will not use safety equipment unless it is right there and ready to use. Women express interest in meetings that benefit them but only if everything is arranged and they are not required to put any effort into its success. Is attracting voters much different? I doubt it.

Maybe you're right and there is a way to change women to think and act more like men. Ask the radical feminists since they have been trying to change women for decades. Or, much like a self-loathing white liberal, you can continue to blame your own gender for all the ills of the world.

If I have escaped from some of the "womyn traps", it's because of my granny. She did everything that needed to be done on the farm from driving machinery, looking after animals and growing things. She was widowed fairly young and (sorry guys) but she flourished as a single lady. She was glad to escape the stereotypes imposed on women of her generation--though I found that farm women, by necessity, didn't have a lot of time for hysteria and imaginary crises. There were plenty of real ones to deal with.

So I never cared about fashion, make up, silly talk, crooning over "cute" things...and I was made to feel quite isolated as a teenager. However, when I went out and forged my own life, I was grateful that I had learned to make decisions on my own and did not need to defer to anyone to figure out what I thought. I have many women friends who are the same. Are the silly ones in the majority? I wouldn't know because the women I associate with are not.

"Torontonians pretend to hate Americans, but what is THE lead story every other night? "FAMOUS AMERICAN PERSON CAME TO TORONTO TODAY!!!"

Kathy nailed it! I remember in "Knocked Up" the sister of the pregnant woman was upset at her husband because he wasn't upset enough about all of the pedophiles living in their neighbourhood. This scene from this movie is exactly what Kathy is speaking about.

Some personal observations about women:

Women generally can't be friends with each other. The distrust between women regarding possession of their "man" seems to define women.

Women can not think straight when in the presence of a gorgeous powerful man. This is why women choose which movie/actor they like based solely on the looks of the actor.
Personally I won’t see a movie that has an actress in the header or as a lead on the advertising poster unless the movie is highly recommended.

I've said many times that you can link the fall of our societies traditions and the hard turn left in policy and politics directly to women and their voting patterns. A basic lack of understanding with respect to history and the issues makes this demographic easily manipulated.

'The nature of women in groups is very different than the nature of women individually.'

Yup, more selfish than the male, methinks.
Married wymmin do not trust their newly separated female friends around their men - for good reason, I'm told, whereas men tend to trust their mates and 'hope for the best' that they won't be cuckwolded, just for starters.

'Keeping up with the Jones's' one-upmanship doesn't bode for community spirit, either; they are far more competitive than men but are more subtle about it ...
