Climategate: East Anglia Is Still Lying

SDA gets results! Homeland Security Newswire;

New information reveals that the now-famous break-in of the computers at the University of East Anglia— which revealed that in a few instances leading climatologists seemingly massaged data to show more global warming and discussed excluding contradictory research— in fact, may not have been the act of an intruder. A detailed analysis of the East Anglia’s files by Canadian network engineer discloses that the emails and documents were likely leaked by an internal source, spotlighting a perennial but often neglected threat — old-fashioned espionage or whistle-blowing.

These files were compiled internally, not by "hackers" - that much is certain. (How they were released to the wild is different question.) That East Anglia has still to acknowledge the provenance of the documents is a compelling reminder that nothing they say about the contents should be taken at face value.

Still lying?

But but but... they're government employees! You mean to tell me a government employee would tell an untruth? Worse, a whole department would [gasp!] FABRICATE information and then LIE about having done so?!!! This cannot BE! They are from the government, they are supposed to be here to help us!

Say it ain't so, Kate!!! :)

Meanwhile the MSM is stuck on stupid.....thinking that by ignoring ClimateGate...that it will cease to exist.
Knowledge of this is widespread and polls indicate that the general public is on to it.

An inside job, you say.

Quelle surprise!!

If someone from the government says they are here to help, run for cover.

Dr. Neil Frank wrote of the man-mad global warming controversy the other day.

http://freethroughtruth.blogspot.com/2010/01/are-you-sick-of-global-warming-lies-yet.html

How many lies are there in a plethora? I bet a bazillion.

My favorite one so far is their discussion of hiding the "warm blip" of the 1940s juxtaposed with a study that purports to explain the abnormally fast glacial melt rate in the 1940s despite the lower temps, at the time, as shown by the CRU.

If you look at the attached plot you will see that the land also shows the 1940s blip (as I'm sure you know).

So, if we could reduce the ocean blip by, say, 0.15 degC,
then this would be significant for the global mean -- but
we'd still have to explain the land blip.

I've chosen 0.15 here deliberately. This still leaves an
ocean blip, and i think one needs to have some form of
ocean blip to explain the land blip (via either some common
forcing, or ocean forcing land, or vice versa, or all of
these). When you look at other blips, the land blips are
1.5 to 2 times (roughly) the ocean blips -- higher sensitivity
plus thermal inertia effects. My 0.15 adjustment leaves things
consistent with this, so you can see where I am coming from.

Vs. this:

[T]he scientists made a surprising discovery: in the 1940s and in the summer of 1947 especially, the glaciers lost the most ice since measurements commenced in 1914. This is in spite of the fact that temperatures were lower than in the past two decades.

http://wattsupwiththat.com/2010/01/03/swiss-eth-glaciers-melted-in-the-1940s-faster-than-today/#more-14768

Way to go Lance!! International recognition and endorsement of your sleuthing!

Each adjustment/trick is relatively minor but when the quantum of these is assessed it would seem that the science is indeed settled and no further research is necessary.
In an inverted manner the "team" has proven beyond reasonable doubt:
1) little or no global warming ever existed.
2) CO2 is a discredited hypothesis that does not rate even the lable of theory.

A day or two after the emails were 'released' I read a geek blogger saying that the emails showed that one of the Hadley authors was using an early version of Eudora-- one that did not allow mail recipients to leave messages on the server. This means that to assemble the messages an outside hacker would have had to get into not only the server but individual PCs on the LAN, an extremely unlikely possibility. So, it was immediately fairly obvious to the blogger that the perp was an inside leaker rather than an outside hacker. Don't wait for the MSM to do this analysis anytime soon.

the hacker would have had to be in the files a long long time in order to "cherry pick" the most damaging as the other side , the global warming derriers , contend.

the files show great knowledge of what was going on, definitely an inside job by someone who actually respected the scientific method or realized that a trillion dollars was about to be wasted on fakery.

Sweet, good work Lance.

Speaking of "whistleblowers" . . did you know in the USA they can share in the financial windfall if they turn in scammers ?

Happy Frik'n New Year Mikey Mann . . . you can run, you can hide, but you ar going down suckah!

"An “inconvenient truth” for Mann is that an ally of ours, former CIA agent Kent Clizbe, has this weekend emailed the proxy professor’s co-workers with details of the tempting offer that could turn 2010 into quite a prosperous New Year. We hope someone at this premiere world research institution will come forward and substantiate the facts from evidence already uncovered from the government emails leaked on November 19, 2009. The emails, among other things, show correspondence between Michael Mann and British Professor Phil Jones of the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research, which discuss methods to “hide the decline” in global temperatures.

If any of the dozens of co-workers in the US or the UK are prepared to give evidence, even if it doesn’t lead to any convictions, they could benefit from a share of tens of millions of dollars in recovered public funds. The Whistleblower idea came up in Internet discussions with top US fraud lawyer, Joel Hesch, of Hesch and Associates and former CIA agent, Kent Clizbe. Clizbe’s idea was to email the offer to all 27 of Mann’s co-workers at Penn State’s Earth System Science Center (ESSC) this weekend.

Government employees faking the weather for tax money ....

Nice.

AGW/Climategate will be the story that buries the MSM.

"Green Bins Dot the Curb

Josh Pringle
Monday, January 4, 2010

Ottawa residents start rolling their Green Bins to the curb today.

The city's $15 million a year organics recycling program kicks off today with the launch of the bi-weekly collection of the Green Bins.

The city has distributed 220-thousand Green Bins to single dwelling homes and low-rise residential units in urban, suburban and rural villages.

Chair of the Planning and Environment Committee, Councillor Peter Hume tells CFRA News Ottawa is one of the last municipalities in Ontario to adopt the organics recycling program.

Hume adds it's going to be an "important addition" to Ottawa's waste management practices.

Residents can deposit fruits and vegetables, meat and dairy, grains, cooking oils, yard waste and household plants and soiled paper products in the Green Bin."

I get pretty worked up whenever I hear about the e-mails being "stolen". This is usually followed by a slight shake of the head from the newscaster.

Yet, whenever there is something that comes forth from the Conservatives, it's "whistleblowing".

The MSM is digging its own grave, and practically begging for us to push them in. It's pretty sad to see.

Sweet, good sleuthing Lance...
more to follow?

Thanks Lance and Kate!

Not only are the AGW cult still lying but according to Lord Monkton they are moving ahead with carbon taxing like COP15 was a signed deal.

Remember the Climate kleptocrats legions of useful idiots operate through the UN Agenda 21 network (a network of local petty officials implementing UN global directives at a local level - essentially usurping federal democracy) There are rumblings already that local level officials are going forward with the carbon tax and regulatory regimes at local levels (Schwatzeneger).

Aren't these UN pinkos like a dose of crabs? Time to get out the blue ointment and run AGW pillage pest control on local governing bodies/commissions/officials.

Just goes to prove, once again, if you are curious and want to learn the truth- log on to sda. Nice work Lance and Kate!

Is msm lurking around here? Hummm...

It would appear Mother Nature herself is totally pissed off at the warmists...Accuweather has the following outlook posted for the upcoming winter months. Get braced for the cold people!

"Arctic freeze and snow wreak havoc across the planet
Timesonline

Arctic air and record snow falls gripped the northern hemisphere today, inflicting hardship and havoc from China, across Russia to Western Europe and over the US plains.

There were few precedents for the global sweep of extreme cold and ice that killed dozens in India, paralysed life in Beijing and threatened the Florida orange crop. Chicagoans sheltered from a potentially killer freeze, Paris endured sunny Siberian cold, Italy dug itself out of snowdrifts and Poland counted at least 13 deaths in record low temperatures of about minus 25C (-13F).

The heaviest snow yesterday hit northeastern Asia, which is suffering its worst winter weather for 60 years. More than 25 centimetres (10in) of snow covered Seoul, the South Korean capital — the heaviest fall since records began in 1937".

Does this mean I wont be able to sell all the carbon credit certificates I printed?

I started to watch an IMAX film, narrated by Robert Redford, on the drying out of the Colorado River. I got as far as he talking about how Lake Chad is disappearing because of AGW and gave up.

Lake Chad is certainly disappearing but the impact of long term natural climate is minimal. It has everything to do with man's interference with the life forces that keep the lake alive like damming the two main rivers feeding it. These two following comments from people who really know about the situation from being there are just part of the knowledge that Redford, a Hollywood lefty, could have easily checked out but of course it wouldn't have fit with his agenda. They are commenting in a BBC article from 2007! This is exactly what happened to the Aral Sea.

"I lived in Chad for several years. This article makes them sound like noble stewards of the land. This is not true. Lake Chad is drying up (and has been since I lived there almost 20 years ago) because the water is being diverted to irrigate crops in the arid desert, as well as feed the growing cities in Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Libya. This has everything to do with them using too much water in the middle of the Sahel and nothing to do with the West somehow creating an environmental catastrophe."

"I am an archaeologist whom works in Niger and has studied climate change and how it affects people in the desert for the last 10,000 years. I just wanted to make some comments on this article. OK Climate change.... no where in the article did you specifically state where the climate has changed or showed a graph of how temperatures have changed, if you did you would find that its been pretty constant for the last 3500 years...ARID AND HOT. I am not disputing the fact that lake Chad is disappearing at an alarming rate due in part to natural climatic effects, however I feel it is necessary for the article to highlight more of the direct reasons for lake Chad¿s depletion...local human involvement and lack of government cohesion. Nigeria, Chad, Niger, and Cameroon have all been exploiting the water source by unsustainable means, and cutting off the waters supply. It is naturally running low due to the Climate yes, but its exponentially effected by the people and governments whom can't work together to save it. That¿s all I have to say really, thanks for your time. Sincerely, Jeff Stivers"

Y'know, I read about Lance's findings when he first posted it on SDA, weeks and weeks ago and this is the first word of it that I've read outside of SDA and those associated with SDA.

Could it possibly be that the "Rest of the World" is starting to get it?

A bit off topic but it does deal with the manipulation of environmental data. Here's a couple of emails that are the result of the drive by smear by CBC.

Pat Patrick, British Columbia

Please note that Cynthia Kinch, Director of CBC News Network, requested that we forward the following response to you.

Best regards,

Denis Andrychuk
Communications Officer
CBC Audience Relations

Dear Pat Patrick:

Thank you for your e-mail of December 19 addressed to Vince Carlin, CBC Ombudsman. Since CBC News Network falls in my remit, I would like to reply.

You wrote to draw our attention to an interview with Nancy Heppner, Saskatchewan's Environment Minister, on the December 16 edition of CBC NEWS NOW with Carole MacNeil. Visuals seen during the interview briefly depicted oil sands mining and a polar bear on an arctic ice floe. Neither is in Saskatchewan, you wrote, calling it a "drive by smear."

Although I regret you are, once again, disappointed in CBC, with respect, your views are not ones I share. Allow me to explain why.

In an interview from Copenhagen a few minutes earlier that afternoon, Environment Minister Jim Prentice suggested that the federal government had not ruled out giving special breaks to oil sands, potash, cement and other "trade-exposed" industries when it comes to greenhouse gas emissions. The reduced levels would help the government harmonize its approach to cutting greenhouse gasses with the United States.

Industrial greenhouse gas emissions, and in Canada's case, particularly those by the oil and gas industry, were a major focus at the UN Climate Change Conference then underway. If there were emission breaks, what would they mean for the big oil producing provinces? Saskatchewan is the country's second biggest oil producer and biggest potash producer, so the program asked Ms. Heppner, who was also in Copenhagen, for her views.

For some 20 seconds during the interview, we added stock video of oils sands mining followed by polar bears, the same images that were seen a few minutes earlier during the interview with Mr. Prentice. To make otherwise static interviews more visually interesting for television we commonly add video. Images specific to the story can contribute additional information and a fresh perspective, but when they are not available, we often carry stock visuals that are related to the story. That was the case here.

This story took place against the backdrop of the Copenhagen conference, where for more than a week world leaders had wrestled with how to put limits on greenhouse gasses. We were interested in Ms. Heppner's views as a provincial environment minister, but as the conference came down to the wire, the last question put to her - and the one that sparked the longest answer - was not about Saskatchewan, but whether she thought a deal on green house gases could be reached in the short time remaining.

Polar bears, we are told, are among those at risk from increasing global warming. Whether or not you agree, and certainly there are those who do not, the science of global warming was not at issue at the conference where for ten days the discussion had focused on the consequences. Of course there are no polar bears in Saskatchewan or oil sands mining, for that matter, but the two images are emblematic of the conference and symbolic of the issues facing Canada: one a major source of green house gases and the other a likely effect of global warming.

Thank you again for your e-mail.

It is also my responsibility to inform you that if you are not satisfied with this response, you may wish to submit the matter for review by the CBC Ombudsman. The Office of the Ombudsman, an independent and impartial body reporting directly to the President, is responsible for evaluating program compliance with the CBC's journalistic policies. The Ombudsman may be reached by mail at the address shown below, or by fax at (416) 205-2825, or by e-mail at ombudsman@cbc.ca

Hi Cynthia Kinch,
You are currently entitled to your biased opinion which is, for the time being, supported by my tax dollars. I will work to bring about the reduction of funding to the CBC and those who are part of the crew of Opinion Writers/News Creators rather than News Reporters.

We both know that it was a smear. You feel entitled to smear and present biased reportage using my tax dollars and I do not think that your are entitled to push your agenda on National Media. Therein lies our differences.

Pat Patrick

New information? I guess.

I mean, I recall hearing that suggested within a day of the original leak.

The way the files were nicely organized into a "FOIA" heirarchy made it obvious that even if they were "hacked" out, they'd already been assembled by someone on the inside.

And at that rate there's no important difference between "leaked by an insider" and "hacked by someone who just happened to 'guess' that someone's password was weak and find the files, wink wink".

Great work

Lance

Kate

it would appear that the charge to discredit this AGW nonsense is being lead by Canadians, more than just these two

and of that I'm proud

Pat @ 7:12 pm- Good on ya for putting their feet to the fire and at least making them uncomfortably concoct a BS explanation. Obviously, the most effective arguement with them would require use of a two-by-four, but your rebuttal, if nothing else, will make them aware that they're losing ground and the jig is almost up.
Next order of business for PMSH- introduce funding cuts and install new CEO at the Mother-f'n-Corp.

Wow,congratulations . The next question is where do you go with this info and report. Will the CBC ,CTV,or any of the MSM admit that the e-mails were actually leaked from inside? I doubt it,or if they do it will be on CBC newsworld once at 6:15 a.m. on a Sunday morning. For what it is worth ,I will send the article to CBC, where it will be duly noted and ignored.

"I get pretty worked up whenever I hear about the e-mails being 'stolen'."

Well, in essence, they were. And local police are addressing that crime. However, it's pretty pathetic to see the media ignoring a story on the grounds that information it is based on was stolen.

Presumably then if some insider passed CBC a damning package of unredacted classified Department of National Defence documents on Afghan detainees, CBC would respond with, "Oh dear, no. We couldn't possibly report on this, not when the material was released illegally."

Ha! As if.
