Our school division has devoted January to the study of climate change and instability for the K to 12 classes. This includes a showing of the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" for classes 6 to 12. Also, in as many subjects as possible areas of climate change, causes and effects, efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, what big oil and industry is doing to "help" or hinder efforts, what cap and trade is etc. are all being studied. The elementary grades are also being shown how human actions affect the environment. I congratulate our school division for taking this approach and tackling the issue head on for all of the schools in the division.

I congratulate your honesty in the sense that you advocate political indoctrination in schools rather than teaching critical thinking skills without bias that can serve our children for the rest of their lives.

People like you T are the real problem. I do not care what you teach your own children in your home, but in a public school system I care that children are being force fed political issues that may contridict with how they are being raised at home. Religion (AGW or otherwise) and Politics have no place in a K-12 classroom, it is a place for imparting fixed and historical knowledge and learning the skills to solve new challenges and assess new information.

When my daughters enter school, I hope and pray that that the education system has shifted to being objective or else the teachers better start praying.

Is this how teachers are rated these days. Wow,I have been away from the hallowed halls of academia for a while,things have changed. The students mostly think he's cool,though his Easiness score seems to me to be a bit low for someone who is profane and tries hard to relate to teens. My prediction---No,he does not ever make it away from high school,except in handcuffs.

As you know, I've spent time with my kids trying to provide balance on political issues. AGW is a regular topic but I think I hit the homerun a few weeks ago with my youngest.

She was talking to me about all of the H1N1 hysteria. She decided that adults and teachers had completely overblown the topic. She couldn't see how anything was different this year with sick kids. Yes she observed the only difference this year is that most adults were "acting strange" and “scaring the kids”. Anyways, this was the perfect opportunity to analogize H1N1 hysteria to AGW hysteria, and let me tell you, the light went on in her head instantly. I've been telling my kids for years to distrust anyone who is saying the “sky is falling”. I also explained the scaremongers ALWAYS want your money to my entrepreneurial child(“don’t mess with her ones”). In the end, all of the lectures in the world couldn't have taught the same lesson as a simple observation made by my daughter. For this I am truly thankful for the H1n1 hysteria.
