Do you know what I really love about this?
[Banff Mayor John Stutz] was among those whose ears perked up when Kennedy, during a lengthy speech, said that almost all the fish in this province are not fit to eat due to contamination.
That he yanked $500 a plate out of their pockets to hear him say it.
via Bourque

That's nothing ... much of Ontario and Quebec has warnings up at hundreds of waterways telling you that adult sized fish are mercury filled and not edible .... the pulp and paper industry folks .... yes, the newspaper industry is the biggest killer of sport fishing in the world.
Does Kennedy know that ?
At least we get something in return from the oil sands.
Hopefully they were all gorging themselves on fish from CHINA. Cesspool raised fish would be so much better for these people than Alberta fish.
A stoner on Jasper Ave Edmonton just asked me what Kennedy was using 'cause he wants some. Bad!
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is just as big a left-wing statist as his uncle was.
I'll bet a lot of Albertans choked on the $500 they paid to hear this tripe. That is what they get for inviting Kennedy.
Perhaps Kennedy should tend to his crumbling dynasty in Massachusetts.
90% of Kennedys are intolerable.
LOL and the organizers charged the guests to pay for lies! I for one am not surprised because the Fringe Left have a hard on of immense proportions about the Oil Sands, they see it as the next great anti oil bogeyman after Climate Change has faded from the conversation.
Reasonable People Meet Scaremongering Leftist
Next time save your money, he is not worth it baby.
> the pulp and paper industry folks
One of the reasons I annually have a spat with Brampton Guardian who insist on littering my porch with their paper.
They usually bugger off when I threaten to arrest their newspaper boy for trespassing if he drops Guardian on my property.
What's interesting is how little the *OILSANDS* (not tarsands!) actually pollutes Albertan waters as a whole. North of Fort Mac does get polluted, but there is already a lot of pollution in those waters naturally.
This is the same Kennedy that former Manitoba Premier Gary Doer sucked up to after a visit to Manitoba a few years ago.
http://www.nrdc.org/media/pressreleases/040610.asp
As a result of this suckage, Manitobans face the added expense of over a billion dollars from the construction of a hydro line (BiPole 3) along the west side of the province, instead of the less costly east side.

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/manitoba/story/2007/12/20/hydro-line.html
http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/16353
Our new Premier, Greg Selinger, continues to toe the Doer decision.
The threat to the Province, is if the line is built on the East side, Kennedy and the Sierra Club will lobby US electrical utilities to not buy Manitoba power as it wouldn't be green enough.
They fail to recognize building on the longer west route will result in more trees being cut, transmission loses will be greater from this renewable hydro power, so in the long run, the west route would in reality be less green.
Kenndy and his ilk can literally not see the forest for the trees.
When the ocean rises a hundred feet, the mercury will all get salty and washed out. So it's cool. Hasn't Purplelosetrife strangled all the sports fishermen years ago anyway?
Did Kennedy get his figures from Al "Several Million Degrees" Gore? I guess being an environmentalist means never having to say you're wrong.
Al the fish, I never thought of that angle. Someone should simply do the math for both situations, both in upfront cost, long term cost, and extra GHG's by going the western route (both in construction and ongoing, since the loss of power will result in more coal production down south).
How did they all get to Canada. Greyhound bus, commercial airlines. Nope, just on their own private jets ,wondered if any doubled up to save on fuel costs?
The hypocrisy of environmentalist like Kennedy, knows no bounds. After years of promoting wind turbines all over N. America, he and his uncle opposed development in Nantucket Bay. Can't have windmills poluting the view off the family compound. This attitude is shared by Suuki and McGuinty, put the windmills in the country where the rubes can put up with them.
In Kennedy's defence, Alberta environmentalists did force the province to poison a number of lakes, killing all the fish, because the lakes had been stocked with non-native species and they had to be eradicated because "that just wasn't natural".
Mark Mattson, president and waterkeeper for Lake Ontario and secretary for Waterkeeper Alliance said, "I hope maybe it starts a dialogue."
Kennedy's entourage said, "Talk to the hand, and thanks for the cash, suckers."
(I may have added that last part)
Lake Ontario is not comparable to Rocky Mountain glacier fed watersheds feeding lakes and rivers in Alberta.
Waterkeeper isn't even a word let alone a title.
These people live in fantasyland.
Is that Kennedy doing his best Al Gore impersonation?
Birds of a feather should flock off out of our country and stay out>
At $500 a plate I think his audience bought it hook, line, and stinker!
Amazing how so called tar sands pollution runs uphill into the Rockies, eh. All the way from the Saskatchewan border.
btw, what was on the menu at that dinner?
Kennedy. Need one say mpore.
This one is the worst, a limousine liberal elitist. A socialist aristocrat.
Could one ask for a refund at these dinners when the speaker is outright lying? It's too bad that like John John,he's not gone, gone.
My questions for Mr. Kennedy are: Have you stopped injecting the illegal narcotic Heroin into your arms?
And if you have stopped injecting Heroin into your arms,When did you quit this illegal activity?
A further question for Mr. Kennedy:
Did you have to get a Waiver to enter Canada due to your Criminal conviction for Heroin possession?
People: You have to challenge leftists, environmentalists, any of these idiots as soon as they say something stupid. Someone should have stood up there and challenged him right them - interuppted his speech - thats what they do, and they don't know how to react when they are challenged by their own methods.
A couple days ago at work (I'm in retail now)I overheard a 20-something customer tell his girlfriend how good it was that the BC Supreme Court overturned the Federal challenge to the safe injection site. He looked shocked that someone would actually challenge his opinion, and walked out kinda skulking. If I lose him as a customer, I don't care!
Alberta. The "forbidden Zone". Full of cowboy's with rabid pipeliners. An environmental wasteland full of Mad Max knock offs.
The Eastern view, now the American via an hysterical Kennedy.
Where do they pick up this BS?
Why should educated men & Women believe tripe like this. Well theres money to be made!!!
To bad we will be to busy selling to the Chinese to give a crap. As for Canada. Most of us in the West have had a belly full of the mental retardation if not the disdain of Ignorant Pseudo-
Americans. Personaly I like thew real ones, not the wannabes of Toronto.

This must be a stick-your-head-in-the-sand blog. If people pump out enough blather about knowing nothing regarding environmental problems involving the tar sands you seem to believe your blather will change reality. I lived in Edmonton for twelve years & at that time a lot of Albertans blamed Americans for environmental problems taking place in the U.S. But now that the Tar Sands are in the cross-fire this blog sees anyone pointing out the looming disasters as part of an environmental conspiracy. Kennedy tried to address environmental truths & instead of listening & responding to his concerns you lambaste him. The writers on this blog could at least admit that there are environmental problems of major proportions coming out of tar sand development. Going into complete denial by disdaining the messenger is just another way of ignoring massive environmental damage that is taking place & will be getting worse unless action is taken. Why not, at least, look for some ways to mitigate the damage rather than vilifying
enviromentalists.
Hugh, what are the environmental problems of the tar sands?
A suitable tribute to the entire left wing spoon fed Kennedy bastards would be, as I read somewhere, to have run his uncle’s hearse off a god damn bridge and left it there overnight.
Stutz, it surprises me you didn’t confront him right there and then. One of the old Banff boys and girls crew.
Hugh, I'd like to hear your response, but also, I want to point out that the posters here, and the target of the original post, was the elitist socialist aristocrat Kennedy.
But, I'd like you to describe the environemntal problems with the tar sands and how they affect people and other living things.
Hugh Betcha, Hugh Curran is a moron, the oil seeps out into the river systems and has for millions of years Hugh. Idiots should go to the area before they spout Suzukishit. Albertans are as we type, busy cleaning up Gods natural disaster and filling the gas tanks of fools like Hugh and these useless Kennedys so they can boink and leave young girls in cars at the bottom of lakes, waterkeepers alright. Stay out of Alberta.
Hey, when you've forked over $500 for the privilege of listening to this Shyster, you HAVE to believe it. To do otherwise would be to admit you were stupid enough to piss away a lot of coin.
A few years back just before Christmas, there was a clip on the local news of the Great Suzuki hectoring a well-heeled Ottawa crowd that shopping at Wal-Mart constituted a serious breach of patriotic duty. From a maketing perspective it was brilliant. Since it would be safe to say that none of these pseudo-socialists had ever lowered themselves to enter such a plebian den as a WalMart, their subsequent applause for the Sun God was nothing but a self-congratulatory assurance that they were, in fact, "the Chosen Few."
I don't know what these fools shelled out for their experience, but their isn't one of them - having had their shopping preferences showcased as a shining example of patriotic virtue - who didn't think it was money well spent.
"hugh curran"
If you are the lawyer from Boston and one of Kennedy`s buddies it explains your ignorance and would be well advised to keep your nose out of Alberta! By the way, for your information they are "oil" sands, not "tar" sands!
