I picked up on something said during a television interview at Copenhagen last week, and both my gut and my search engine tell me the language of the UN's great socialist money-sucking scheme is evolving once again.
Just as "global warming" was pushed into an inconveniently cold and bitter night, "climate change" may be readying its last will and testament.
"Climate change" was always a weak substitute for "global warming", because it was always so easy to rebut. As even the experts were forced to concede, the climate is always changing and has since long before man discovered spark plugs.
This new terminology is more clever, for it neatly avoids the shortcomings of its clumsy forebears. It requires neither warming, nor change. Just television.
When blizzards descend on scientists and world leaders from Copenhagen to East Anglia to Washington, they warmists can now claim ownership.
When hurricane forecasts fall short of the mark, the propagandists can cite their very failure to support their scheme.
Warm winters, cold winters, more hurricanes, fewer hurricanes, growing ice caps, melting ice caps - directions won't matter. Every "new" temperature record, every seasonal flood, every California hot spell, every dusting of snow in the south of France - in other words, local weather, reported globally, will return full force as evidence of anthropogenic climate crime, as it did in a simpler time when the ice conditions of a canal in Ottawa led to nationwide panic.
So, get ready to welcome the new talking point on the block: "climate instability".
I'm not offering a game plan. I'm just warning you to prepare for it.

Thomas Friedman floated this some time ago: "Global weirdness." The quote is:
"You can really call it global weirdness. Global warming causes the climate to act in weird ways."
I would have posted a link but for your filter.
We know something is coming. They have come this far to find an environmental crisis that they can make money on, so letting it go will not be easy. We could say that the climate has always been unstable, just as it has been changing, so this might not be it. Truth is stranger than fiction, so really whatever they come up with should be predictable.
Hmmmmmm
That's code for "We're guessing!"
We'll see how many of the globally stupid keep following the green train. Likely, very many, as its easy to cede critical thinking to others, and be more concerned about Tiger's many ports of call, Bradgelina's twisting tale, and the poor old Taliban prisoner (who deserved it)
Climate instability........maybe if summer was winter, and vice-versa, otherwise, this is a joke!
AGW never was about Climate. It was a grab for POWER by the UN and its Movers and Shakers. There will be a rearguard battle fought by the climate dupes and the dupers but the UN et al will move on to create another mass panic with the resultant demand for greater global governance. I'm not sure that Climate can and will be used again but there will be something bubbling up in the next few years about which there will develop a hysteria and calls for greater UN control.
Climate instability
second cousin to "unpredictable weather"?????
I agree with your warning but disagree "climate instability" will be the new terminology. I'll wager two non hurricanes and one increasing ice cap that "climate disruption" will be the choice of the believers.
Between that, "climate justice", and "climate debt", my head hurts.
I know that there's a drinking game hiding in all of this...I'm just not creative enough to come up with one that wouldn't get you smashed within the first 15 minutes of listening to these people speak.
"Climate instability"! I like it!
Here in Kelowna, we had a cold snap, down to -15 all last week,a couple of inches of SNOW, today it's going up to plus 8!
This instability has me worried sick!
Now, how the hell can I make money out if it?
"climate disruption" will be the choice of the believers.
Sure enough, Ray, I heard that one from some twerp on the weather network a few weeks back.
I guess it will depend on which term they think will be scarier.
Look beyond climate to their real goal - one world government. Our ancestors took centuries to claw us up out of the muck and how they want to give thugs and biker gangs the votes to push decent countries around. So they will look for anything. Climate worked great for a while - right up until the world cooled off and Obama flew home to a blizzard. They will keep on trying. They will say and do anything. That is why we must crush their eggs and drown their young, whenever and wherever those ideas appear.

Isn't "Climate instability" what we all call seasons?
How about this one "Ecological Uncertainty"
Bow to Caesar or off with ur head.
Power, what do they plan on doing with it once they get it is the question. Scary thought, they seem evil.
Make sure you email the Prime Minister with a request to get us out of the UN and to congratulate him as being the beacon of sanity in an insane conference.
I'm proud of the Fossil Awards. A great man doing good things for Canada.

Don;t forget Climate Crime. We are all Climate Criminals. Hand over all your money!!!
I think they will go with "climate debt" that way it doesn't matter what happens (up,down, sideways)it still means that we "OWE" and must pay someone money somewhere.
"If the weather changes day to day, and year to year, you owe us trillions of dollars. M'kay?"
Good gig.
These Creative Climate Communist Pukes (CCCP) are entrepreneurial in the same that a workers compensation claimant with a relatively minor injury is entrepreneurial.
They smell money in the mail for life once they grind the benefactors down. It is sick and twisted and it must be killed. Not just stopped or slowed, but killed.
There is no way humanity can continue forward if these butt plugs get control of the planet.
Nemo2 ,
Looks like Pachauri is the new Maurice Strong . That is one impressive list of rent seeking .
You see, the masses have too much money and are getting too much power. The overlords are beginning to realize that all this new money being distributed to the people is really starting to disrupt the lifestyle they have been so accustomed to.
I mean, the "clubs" and "resorts" like Monte Carlo, Tahiti, Thailand... have so many more tourists that they are losing their privacy and we don't know the rules and are unwilling to play by them. They are beginning to have their corrupt and hedonistic lives exposed and they are losing their ability to be as debauched as they like.
If they get back all the control, they can continue to go about their business and live.
We need to recognize that this is nothing more than one of the largest money heist this world has ever seen. I for one will not participate in their charade!
Maybe they should just jump the propaganda shark and use Climate WereAllGonnaDieAbility.
They'll have to there eventually.
Cooling atmosphere, cooling oceans, increasing polar ice mass . . . they are running out of time.
I personally like "the sky is falling", especially as I look out my windows at a nor-easter that is turning Nova Scotia white.
DMorris -15 in Kelowna can only mean one thing.....time for the ice wine grape harvest!
But remember, too much wine causes human instability.
Has anybody considered the vast forests across this great land recently? With these forests, even considering the oilsands, Canada is carbon-neutral.
i 'member the slight drought of 2019, an' the cold summer snap of 2023, an' the time in 2027 my turnips jus' never came up proper.

"Make a tally chart to record your activities over a week that emit CO2, eg car journeys,
hours watching TV, how long you charge your mobile phone for, etc. Plot your results on
a graph to show your carbon footprint.
• Design and carry out a survey of your classmates to find out how eco-friendly they are."

best nip that one in the bud.
note that Bob Carter shows that the climate has become more stable not less stable
Ive been thinking that with global cooling they may be starting to take credit for Kyoto ,
"see how easy it was. even with a little effort we stopped the runaway warming , think how effective the bigger Copenhagen agreement will be as all the nations of the world unite under one green banner, we have stopped the capitalist pigs and their craven lackeys and united the world under one law and one tax"
The trouble is that the socialist machine is still there. We can beat them on global warming but they just come back with something new with all the same players. What really needs to happen is a stake has to be driven through the heart of the beast. Socialism has to become a dirty word again so that any ties a person has to it would be a career destroyer.
When Climate Irregularity Strikes make sure to reach for a a tall glass of UN Declaration and pour in a heaping spoon of Third World Welfare. Then take two CO2 caps and wait for your economy to implode.
Soon the climate will be back to normal, whatever its "normal" is.
If all the countries had drunk the Kool Aid served in the Kyoto Accord, the global warming swindlers would be touting the cooling of the last 8 years as proof that their Cap and Trade scheme was working.
As with the lights out scam inflicted on California by Enron, I can't wait for the swindlers' day in court.
"Climate instability" is just a subset of climate change. Doesn't deserve or need any more effort to rebut than climate change. Climate has ALWAYS been unstable.
In fact, climate instability was THE hallmark characteristic of the Little Ice Age.
The alarmists don't own it - I do.
I think the whole so-called global warming/climate change and the billions that the developed world is expected to transfer to the develop world (AKA the screwed up world!) is just another version of foreign aid.
In the beginning, foreign aid was driven by our collective guilt that us white people stole from the third world and that by giving them foreign aid to improve we could make amends. But over the years, the developed world kind of wanted to see some improvement - cleaner water, more food grown, increased literacy levels, etc - you know those thing you can measure. But of course, the developing world had used a lot of the foreign aid for other things - most common personal bank accounts for various thugs and dictators. So when the developing countries had to be accountable, they needed to grab onto something else.
Of course they were helped a lot by the likes of Al Gore - who had heard about some science that suggested earth might be warming and the UN then realized they had a possible cash cow that they could milk for more money, particularly if foreign aid started to dry up - which it was because our guilt was displaced by anger at the waste of our money.
Ok the science behind global warming was a bit iffy, but never to be deterred by actual results the UN threw their whole weight behind this global warming stuff, which much to their dismay wasn't warming as much as required - presto - climate change. Climate change was ideal because the science is hard to prove, change is pretty much always happening so anything could be blamed on it and you have an ideal cash cow. The UN, third world thugs and dictators, Al Gore and company who never have built anything in their lives combined with scientists who were pretty much willing to do anything for a buck - how could that go wrong?
Climate Stability is an easy meme to counter.
1) They cannot tell us what the climate NORM should be based on what past climate swings have historically been because they are guilty of suppressing recognition of the Medieval Warm Period and the Little Ice Age.
The fact is that large climate swings and generally unpredicability are the norm.
2) Any effort in a single direction, such as greater manufacturing output and increases in global CO2 can be touted as a strategy to follow which will bring about "stability".
3) Because of an admission of climate unpredictability as a core plank of their position, they have discarded any claim to predict anything related to climate, including how to achieve "stability".
4) The very definition of "stability" will be an endless argument in and of itself which they cannot win because they have staked out their position on quicksand(ie. unpredictable) and any opposing claim that climate IS predictable, even if the prediction is generally more of the same swings we have seen in the ancient past, has a more solid argument based on the provable past and the superiority of claiming "we know" while they don't.
People will follow those who claim to know, as we have already seen demonstrated.

As Prof. Paul Epstein of Harvard said: "We have to focus on stabilizing the climate. It’s the instability that is most disturbing to the pests – the mosquitoes – or the most favorable to them." April 5, 2009 (earthsky.org)
http://www.earthsky.org/interviewpost/health/climate-change-spreads-infectious-disease
Correct me if I'm wrong but with Canada's gigantic Boreal forest being the mother of all carbon sinks we were not allowed to factor that into our footprint because the Rent seekers at the U.N. wouldn't have been able to shake us down to "save the Planet", seals, polar bears, overweight loons like Lizzy, AL, daffy duck whatever,
My vote for the "next earth ending crisis" will be WATER. I am basing that on a few crisis du jour article I have seen sprinkled around, California drought, African drought etc, must be our fault for showering, waterin' crops, wet t-shirt contests.
Like I care what the U.N. thinks.
I'm with Bubba on the water thing.
Our favorite Commie Maude Barlow has been making
noises about it recently.
Seems she is outraged that the Detroit water system pipe that draws water from Lake Huron is some 3 Meters inside Canadian territory. The US is apparantly stealing our water.
I didn't know water had a nationality, nor did it carry a passport or have a SIN to identify it.
Hedge Hedge. Change the channel. Change the calamity du jour until the alarmists goal is finally reached.
Suzuki inadvertently spilled the beans in a recent CBC interview.
Something about 'Economies are a mankind construct, they are not a nature construct'.
Sooooo, there you have it - straight from 'back to the cave Dave' - Tear down everything mankind has built since he left the cave.
The term is "climatologist instability." Put the blame where it belongs
I think the fear of instability stems from a defect in the left's psyche. Most of them don't have the wherewithal or confidence to handle the unknown or to adapt on their own accord. They need international treaties to ensure their survival. Must be a terrifying position to be in.
Globally we need to show the masses that socialism isn't a nice fluffy bunny carrying political ideology, it's communism wrapped in pink. If the left want to live as wards of the state then sign into a mental hospital and leave the rest of us to live our lives free from their never ending meddling into our lives for our own good and profit.
Denormalize socialism, step one.
Climate of Unstable Credibility Unsustainability impacting on the political economic palatability of the continuing utility of straining public gullibility.
(I think I hurt myself)
Or how about this one aimed at skeptics. They suffer from "climate insensitivity".
Climate Crisis.
If you ever take the time to listen to just a few seconds to what Big Al spews out these days, you will hear that phrase.
And this weekend, we have a brand new phrase that is going to get more play.
Take Note.
What the bunfest at Copenhagen achived was not a treaty or an agreement or even an accord. Rather, the signatories agreed to "take note" of the something on a piece of paper and act on it or not.
As found on the internuts:
I would like to know whether any of you know if there is going to be any legal action taken against any of these pseudoscientists. A peer review obviously won't find the truth, but maybe court action would. Maybe that would get the media's attention so the people who only get their news from the MSM would hear the truth as it obviously isn't getting reported now.
I see where they are going with this weather extremes meme. Panic when warm areas get cold spells and cold regions get warm spells. Easy to refute - this shows a rend to climate rationalization - homogenized global temps - room temp every where all tear round - how is this a bad thing? ;-)
O'Global Report: 'Snot my fault.
"Global", containing/encompassing, NESW, & all the above terms, is now replaced with the acronym: GNWO.
The smell of the Global New World Ordure: filthy lucre/indulgences, aka Red-Green guilt-money.
Mao Stlong + George Soros: making the GNWO safe for humannity.

"There'll be nowhere to run from the new world government
There is scope for debate – and innumerable newspaper quizzes – about who was the most influential public figure of the year, or which the most significant event. But there can be little doubt which word won the prize for most important adjective. 2009 was the year in which "global" swept the rest of the political lexicon into obscurity. There were "global crises" and "global challenges", the only possible resolution to which lay in "global solutions" necessitating "global agreements". Gordon Brown actually suggested something called a "global alliance" in response to climate change. (Would this be an alliance against the Axis of Extra-Terrestrials?)
Some of this was sheer hokum: when uttered by Gordon Brown, the word "global", as in "global economic crisis", meant: "It's not my fault"."

Heeere's George: "Even George Soros, the billionaire hedge fund operator, says money managers would find ways to manipulate cap-and-trade markets. “The system can be gamed,” Soros, 79, remarked at a London School of Economics seminar in July. “That’s why financial types like me like it -- because there are financial opportunities.”"
"Carbon Capitalists
Wall Street wants a leading role in the new carbon-trading market being designed in Washington. First, executives like JPMorgan’s Blythe Masters must convince skeptics this isn’t just a new trillion-dollar gamble on derivatives.
By Lisa Kassenaar
Bloomberg Markets, January 2010
Across Uganda, thousands of women warm supper over new, $8 orange-painted stoves. The clay-and-metal pots burn about two- thirds the charcoal of the open-fire cooking typical of East Africa, where forests are being chopped down in the struggle to feed the region’s 125 million people.
Four thousand miles away, at the Charles Hurst Land Rover dealership in southwest London, a Range Rover Vogue sells for 90,000 pounds ($151,000). A blue windshield sticker proclaims that the gasoline-powered truck’s first 45,000 miles (72,421 kilometers) will be carbon neutral.
That’s because Land Rover, official purveyor of 4x4s to Queen Elizabeth II, is helping Ugandans cut their greenhouse gas emissions with those new stoves.
These two worlds came together in the offices of Blythe Masters at JPMorgan Chase & Co. Masters, 40, oversees the New York bank’s environmental businesses as the firm’s global head of commodities. JPMorgan brokered a deal in 2007 for Land Rover to buy carbon credits from ClimateCare, an Oxford, England-based group that develops energy-efficiency projects around the world. Land Rover, now owned by Mumbai-based Tata Motors Ltd., is using the credits to offset some of the CO2 emissions produced by its vehicles."

Remember in the arguments youi are going to have with those claiming "CO2 is producing climate instability" that their CO2 theory is predicated on CO2 producing WARMING.
Do not let them off the hook. If they now say that warming produces cooling, or uncertainty, or instability, or variability, or more-and-at-the-same-time-less hurricanes, point out that this obviously cannot be due to CO2, which, supposedly, produces warming.
"Climate instability" may not fare over-well. Even the NYT may notice that
"climate" necessarily deals with time and spatial averages
(Wikipedia says the time span is canonically 30 years).
If one imposes any sort of a decent time span then the time average will take care of "instabilities".
It's going to be difficult to tweak global climate
models to yield short-term predictions. However, Michael
Mann is up to it, I's sure.
Again, "instability" implies that there is a
permanent departure from stability.
Ah, I'll miss those 2m - 5m - 15 m sea rises.
