| When we last checked in on our favourite Railroad Climate Engineer, he was narrowing down the list of Climategate suspects to "fossil fuel lobby" and "corporate interests". |
|
Today, we find the most excellent Dr.Rajendra Pachauri in a "corporate interest" feature by the Telegraph. For starters;
Dr Pachauri’s TERI empire has also extended worldwide, with branches in the US, the EU and several countries in Asia. TERI Europe, based in London, of which he is a trustee (along with Sir John Houghton, one of the key players in the early days of the IPCC and formerly head of the UK Met Office) is currently running a project on bio-energy, financed by the EU.
Another project, co-financed by our own Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the German insurance firm Munich Re, is studying how India’s insurance industry, including Tata, can benefit from exploiting the supposed risks of exposure to climate change. Quite why Defra and UK taxpayers should fund a project to increase the profits of Indian insurance firms is not explained.
Even odder is the role of TERI’s Washington-based North American offshoot, a non-profit organisation, of which Dr Pachauri is president. Conveniently sited on Pennsylvania Avenue, midway between the White House and the Capitol, this body unashamedly sets out its stall as a lobbying organisation, to “sensitise decision-makers in North America to developing countries’ concerns about energy and the environment”.
TERI-NA is funded by a galaxy of official and corporate sponsors, including four branches of the UN bureaucracy; four US government agencies; oil giants such as Amoco; two of the leading US defence contractors; Monsanto, the world’s largest GM producer; the WWF (the environmentalist campaigning group which derives much of its own funding from the EU) and two world leaders in the international ‘carbon market’, between them managing more than $1 trillion (£620 billion) worth of assets.
All of this is doubtless useful to the interests of Tata back in India, which is heavily involved not just in bio-energy, renewables and insurance but also in ‘carbon trading’, the worldwide market in buying and selling the right to emit CO2. Much of this is administered at a profit by the UN under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) set up under the Kyoto Protocol, which the Copenhagen treaty was designed to replace with an even more lucrative successor.
Perhaps he's just investigating undercover.

I've always been gobsmacked hearing that one can get a degree in "Climate Science".
Sure, it's worth studying, but in no way should it be given the respect of, say, mechanical or chemical engineering.
Don't worry, it isn't.
climate change TV. I thought a subset of CBCpravda, but its stand alone
http://www.climate-change.tv/
Interesting how this stuff just keeps surfacing....
Methinks the CIA, MI5-6, KGB,......even Mossad have been digging for a while----if not watching it from the get go.
Sasquatch, I had similar thoughts as you, albeit about the FSB = The successor of the KGB.
Yes, part of the role of spy agencies is to do nefarious things at times. But they're also mandated with acquiring information, be it legally or illegally.
According to the CIA Factbook Russia is the world's 2nd largest oil exporter. If the use of oil is threatened, clearly that's going to hurt Russia significantly. So if you were a Russian leader and received the Climategate files, without altering them one iota, you'd quickly realize:
1. What a complete fraud climate science has been.
2. That their release would discredit the scientists involved (who should be discredited by the way for perpetrating such a fraud).
Article:
"As a vegetarian Hindu, Dr Pachauri repeated his call for the world to eat less meat to cut down on methane emissions (as usual he made no mention of what was to be done about India’s 400 million sacred cows)."
From the Straight Dope:
"Suffice it to say that flatulence is a common complaint among and about vegans, and for that matter vegetarians generally. (For those of you who don't know many vegetarians, they come in various flavors; vegans are the most hard-core, eschewing not only meat but animal products of any kind, including milk and eggs.) The problem is the body's inability to fully digest the complex carbohydrates so abundant in the vegetarian diet and the consequent excessive production of gases such as hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and methane."
http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/2563/is-there-more-flatulence-in-a-vegetarian-diet
Pachauri's claim that eating less meat would cut down on methane emissions is a flat out lie.
In fact, quite the opposite is true.
We should all eat more meat, not less.
But what about the flatulence of the meat producing herbivore animals you might ask?
Well, the truth is that their gastrointestinal tracts are designed to efficiently digest complex carbohydrates and high cellulose fiber creating less gas in their systems so if less methane and CO2 is your goal then raising herbivore meat animals and eating them is the way to accomplish it, not Pachauri's method.
Do these Climate Crisis touts have anything to peddle other than lies and obfuscation?

By the sounds of it, it pays on par with being a successful importer of cocaine!!!

Speaking of railroads, it seems that the Eurostar trains have stopped running indefinitely pending solution of problems related to cold weather in France. (Apparently minus 3 degrees C is considered extreme cold). It appears that people will have to (shudder) fly rather than taking the 'green' solution.
I have a tough time arguing with PiperPaul's opening statement.
when i run my eye over the good railroad engineer and listen to his spiel all i can think of is 'birdy num-nums'...

TimesUK says: The AGW cover has been stripped away.
AGW's Choo-Choo trains have crashed headlong in a Chunnel of Reality.
All the AGWarmers have is Hope and Fear: a pairofducks and "the out-and-out “contrarians”. That's you.
Here's your contribution: "who do so much to reinforce people’s uncertainty and confusion."
Is that all there is to this AGW clap?
"to bill the Copenhagen accord as anything other than a failure is simply dishonest."
"Paradoxically, the greatest cause for hope lies in the depth of that failure."
Here is the best part:
"It will provide new ammunition for the out-and-out “contrarians” scattered through the UK media who remain unpersuaded by the overwhelming consensus on the science of climate change, and who do so much to reinforce people’s uncertainty and confusion."

AGW meets Peak Oil. 1 + (-) 1 = 0.
Now that the AGW alarmist con is in tatters, we see the money trail lead to Gore's Occidental fortunes, Moe & Barry's Chicago carbon bank, and now IPCC profiteering.
We await the revelations of the Fruit fly Doc's bedding in with the evil corporate petro interests.
Choo-Choo's on a track to Erewhon, the utopian nowhere country.

"NZ Study may hold key to faulty world temp data
A long-forgotten scientific paper on temperature trends in New Zealand may be the smoking gun on temperature manipulation worldwide.
Since Climategate first broke, we've seen scandal over temperature adjustments by NZ's National Institute of Water and Atmospheric research, NIWA, which in turn prompted a fresh look at raw temperature data from Darwin and elsewhere.
Now, a study published in the NZ Journal of Science back in 1980 reveals weather stations at the heart of NIWA's claims of massive warming were shown to be unreliable and untrustworthy by a senior Met Office climate scientist 30 years ago, long before global warming became a politically charged issue.
The story is published in tonight's TGIF Edition, and has international ramifications.
That's because the study's author, former Met Office Auckland director Jim Hessell, found a wide range of problems with Stevenson Screen temperature stations and similar types of unit.
Hessell debunked a claim that New Zealand was showing a 1C warming trend between 1940 and 1980, saying the sites showing the biggest increases were either urbanized and suffering from urban heat island effect, or they were faulty Stevenson Screen installations prone to showing hotter than normal temperatures because of their design and location.
One of the conclusions is that urbanized temperature stations are almost a waste of time in climate study:"

I'm not quite sure why you're elevating engineering up on such a lofty platform (unless of course you are an engineer). I've known some particularly bone-headed engineers in my time, let me tell you. I would no more want to live in a society ruled by engineers than one ruled by climate scientists.
And that's the point: it's not about "climate science" or even "engineering", for that matter.
It's about individuals in those particular fields.
Is it not amazing what one can find by following the money?
Is it not even more incredibly amazing that the MSM as a whole refuses to follow the money on a variety of issues, yet is all shocked and surprised that no one is buying their dreck anymore and they are teetering on the edge of bankruptcy?
Faster with the bankruptcy please.
I guess this is the sort of thing "investigative journalism" used to deal with back when republicans were in power.
And historians will at some point come to the obvious conclusion that this is a multi-trillion dollar scam that was so air tight that the majority of information was coming out from a commercial artist that ran a news blog. That the multi-national news agencies were in on it, that they had their remaining finances invested in Carbon Trading companies.
The article didn't even mention the millions that he made in his role as Chewbacca in "Star Wars".
PiperPaul: "I've always been gobsmacked hearing that one can get a degree in 'Climate Science'.

Fact: Dr Pachauri is himself an engineer.
Me: "QED."
he'd make a terrific stunt double for howard hughes in his later years.....it's uncanny....i can't get over it....i wonder if...no,...no it's impossible...
Dr Richard North continues his expose on Pachauri’s highly suspect connections to various potential beneficiaries of the AGW scam at his blog at http://eureferendum.blogspot.com
Pachauri's rejoinder is here:
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Pachauri-slams-charges-about-conflict-of-interest/articleshow/5360077.cms
in which he directly accuses Booker and North of being part of the "hacking" conspiracy. (It's still a hack in Warmerworld, even in the face of Lance's work on the e-mails.)
He doesn't plan to pursue legal action because it only dignifies the accusers. Seems to me B&N have ready legal grounds to confer a little dignity on Choochoo-wallah.
James Delingpole makes a good point in the Torygraph:
