Well, Keith did quite a stupid thing crossing over to the Liberals. I really never did figure out how exactly one morphs from a Reformer to a Liberal. So maybe Keith isn't as smart as he thinks he is, although he is on the correct side of a couple of issues.
I'm one who was sorry to see Dr.Keith Martin jump to the Liberals. He probably remembered the Liberals of the St.Laurent/Pearson era, and was blissfully unaware of the new reality of that Party.
I was sorry to see Dr.Keith Martin leave the Conservatives. He left and sat as an independent for about a year, and then ran and won as a Liberal in 2004.He was a Reformer/Conservative for longer than he's been a Liberal.
Not all Liberals are the Ignatieff/Dion/Fry/ types, and Martin is one of the better MP's in that Party.
And if he's attacked by a virulently Left wing blogger, it just gives more credibility to a positive view of the man.
Dr. Keith was pro Gun Control when he first ran for the Reform Party. To his credit he is capable of making decisions based on evidence. He was likely take in by the many pro-GC articles in Medical Journals.
Today, the Center For Disease Control in a study of studies finds no evidence in favor of GC. The American Academy of Sciences agrees with them. But Leftards carry on as if nothing new has happened. And they call themselves "Progressives"?
Keith Martin made a big mistake crossing the floor when he finally got tired of being a back bench conservative. Now he is back bench librano. That was definitely a move down and a career breaker.
Come back Keith, come back it may not be too late.
As for the twit whose blog is linked on the post, he doesn't deserve a mention. Anyone who lives in today's Montreal is brain dead or French ... I guess on only one of those descriptors was necessary.
He's from Montreal. They tend to have the same sort of complex you see from TO. If it ain't Montreal, it's rural.
Now while Esquimalt ain't rural, it can get plenty wild. At least it did when I did my initial trades training as a sonarman back in '91. Of course that mainly involved scuffles between the navy, army and the local reserve and the various combinations there of.
I've never figured out why Keith Martin joined the lieberal party. I suspect it had something to do with his losing in his attempt to become leader of the Canadian Alliance. I've known Keith slightly for quite a while but haven't talked to him since he's become a lieberal. The last time I talked to him privately about gun control was at a leadership candidates meeting in Vancouver and he was not in favor. BTW I did vote for him in the Canadian Alliance leadership vote and did support his campaign financially.
He is definitely NOT a libertarian; there may be some leanings in that direction but he and I disagreed on medicare and other intrusive state roles. I think the Conservative party should try to get him back, but I suspect he won't switch again as I don't think he'd take to well to being muzzled by PMSH. He is open minded and not afraid of tackling topics such as the HRC's. The failure of the Conservative party to deal with this issue will, IMO, hurt them in the long run.
Kate's been linking to a lot of idjits lately; that dorky little guy who peed himself next to the General Lee, and poor uncle Catsmeat, and now this self-important smarm-bag who still doesn't understand that criminals don't register their guns, a concept any normal seven-year-old can grasp quite easily, no problemo.
Kate, I was just over at one of the liberal bloggers (Red Tory) I frequently visit, and I think hell just froze over (as I pointed out in a comment on his blog): the two of you are on the same side of this issue. His post is entitled: 'Better know a "Liberal" Nitwit.'
Why this blog? Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice
of an ordinary Canadian
yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I can't answer or use every
tip, but all are
appreciated!

he hates gun control AND HRCs? he's more conservative than our Conservatives!
Keith Martin, i mean...
I clicked on one of the other blogs this blogger enjoys following and it looks like the lefties are working hard to silence the conservative blogs.

his problem is that he was too libertarian for the Reform Party, and is too conservative for the Liberals.
he's in no-man's-land, along with other Canadian libertarians.
I'm one who was sorry to see Dr.Keith Martin jump to the Liberals. He probably remembered the Liberals of the St.Laurent/Pearson era, and was blissfully unaware of the new reality of that Party.
Ah yes libertarians they're so open minded their brains fall on the floor. Prod prod poke poke.:)
The blogger's profile, from the site:
"Young, dumb, and full of glum."
Ayup.
And yet again no comments allowed on a lefty site.

'k, Warren. ;)
Noticed that as well eh djb?
Take note that Martin is only just the latest in a string of three Liberal MPs he is irate at.
Esquimalt is rural?
If it ain't Beaches-Danforth it's rural.

My my my the progressives are turning out some particularly vile bipolar intolerant little wigglers.
What would Ren Hoek say? Oh yeah ;
"YOU SEEK LITTLE MONKEY!"
Now now, don't worry about the mean ol' mens and their mean ol' gunz, just take your lithium and they'll all go away!

It's vexing, I tell you, although quite funny.

Seems pareta reads SDA. Probably wondering where the avalanche of hits came from. If three people read that bilge of his/hers its a frickin' miracle.
Greetings dork. We see you.
At the bottom of Pareta's blog there's the claim that "Pareta has hundreds of daily readers."
The biggest joke is her claim that Liberal MP "Scott Simms voted to end Canada's ONLY gun control legislation."
It would be educational for her to openly carry in Montreal or any Canadian city (police are rarely able to make rural calls).
