In reading canuck jihad's column, it reminded me of the classis Star Trek episode where Kirk et al visit a planet that's at war with another planet. The twist is though that there is no real combat. Computers instead calculate casualties for each side and the requisite number of civilians dutifully march into vapourization chambers. I fear we're just like them: marching into oblivion without a whimper. Thank goodness for the blogosphere that has appropriated the role of the press!

I was born and raised in this Country, and over the decades sometimes governments have done things I disagree with, but I have NEVER been ashamed to be Canadian, even when Trudeau kissed Castro's ass, and his wife sang a song for Fidel. I was ashamed of THEM, but not Canada.

cal2- I went to a fight card in Slave lake, in 1983. I felt much safer inside the ring, than outside. We were accosted by an old, gay Indian in a pool hall. He took a real shine to my coach. I'm certainly not a liberal, but all these comments remind me why I don't have many conservative friends. Israel's invasion of Gaza last year was one big orchestrated war crime, in which women, children, and male civilians were indiscriminately killed by the hundreds. This guy is ashamed that his supposed religious homeland deliberately committed such atrocities, and that the Canadian government stood by without even a word of disapproval. I have no more compassion for the Gazans than any other opressed minority population, whether it be whites in Zimbabwe, Jews in post-WWII Europe or Uighurs in China. The fact remains that what Israel did was criminal and morally repugnant.

If a few stray dogs were on the loose in Israel, going around biting people, would Israel be justified in rounding up 1200 dogs and puppies and bombing and shooting them? You can bet our government would have something to say if that happened.

Rather than recognize the obvious message this protestor is trying to convey, the majority of you act like a bunch of racist, bigoted, uneducated children. Make no mistake, racism and bigotry existed long before poltical correctness reared its head. As a society we may well be ignoring the rise of Islam at our peril, but our baffling subservience to Zionism and Israel has already been a legitimate peril for 60 years.

As a Canadian I am ashamed that the man in the photo is Canadian as well.
