The report from Mr Haskell seems to be ignored. It has shown up quietly in a couple of places but not on a broader basis. The FBI directly denies that there was a second person taken into custody...need to watch their words here because they can deny arresting someone when they were just held for questioning.

Now perhaps people have been told to keep quiet will other investigations happen. It is makes some sense though, if the guy was drugged to keep him calm and make him look "simple", as well as dull the pain, then he would need a "sherpa to get him in the boarding system.

The Montreal woman's acounts indicate he tipped some flags in Amsterdam, he was last one allowed on the plane, was searched at least twice.

There is more info to come, whether the officials want to talk about it or not.

Maybe the guy was a completely legit "businessman" with "food poisoning" or as the comments point out perhaps there were other searches that need to be done.

Perhaps he explosives, like a drug mule, were swallowed and he was throwing up. Perhaps it had been hidden up the other orifice.

Anyway, one has to hope that the authorities ask the right questions. It is clear that the regular media doesnt ask the follow up questions.

On my last flight in 2006, the Paris airport was well secured with armed soldiers. Maybe all major airports should be upgraded to this. Everything should be done to protect the flying public and when it is, we'll know that someone is taking this seriously. One simple beginning will be calling a terrorist a terrorist and abandoning the word alleged.

Fox news just quoted that an Indian man tried to help get the bomber onto another flight earlier without a passport. He was very insistent about him getting onto the plane.

Napolitano has somewhat acknowledged that there was a security breakdown and that Homeland Security was reviewing their policies.

Why didn't the perp go to the bathroom to set himself alight. He could take off his outside pants and expose the hidden chemicals easily. Or did he think as there is no smoking in the toilets, that a sprinkler would start up.

Why are people allowed to take matches and cigarette lighters through security? You have to give up bottles of water that could put fires out and yet carry on matches.

O will be making a stmt around noon on this event.

How/when did that other guy get food poisoning, from airline food. Is he the only one who got sick.

How stupid do these officials think we are, to fall for what they are telling us. The big question is, will O apologize for the actions of some passengers for foiling this attempt, seems he has apologized for everything else.

My suspicion is that the skids were greased at some level for this guy, probably at the bottom rung of the security ladder where a couple hundred bucks makes an impression. "Let the poor lad on, he's lost his papers. Just sneak him in after security, then there will be no fuss. Here's a few quid for your trouble."

Napolitano is a DemocRat, lying like a Persian carpet comes naturally to her. So of course she stonewalls, bafflegabs and disinforms everybody as fast as possible. She has to, she knows Homeland Security is a gigabuck boondoggle with more holes in it than a cheese grater. In -principle- it can't work and as a practical matter they can't even get enough trustworthy inspectors to make an attempt.

Its not security. A strip-search and abdominal x-ray would be security. Zero carry-on and piece-by-piece inspection of checked baggage would be security. Hell, even sending luggage by cargo jet only while passengers fly ahead would be security.

Its security -theater-. Theater requires a suspension of disbelief guys, so stop looking behind the curtain eh? That is Janet's message.

Ok, Free, gotcha. But, they'd all be killed in the ocean. This way, with witnesses, those in charge of alleged security now have an identify which would have been lost.

You are not allowed to take liquids on board greater than 100 ml in volume...presumably because liquid explosives greater than 100 ml in volume would cause too much damage (why else?). BUT, you can take multiple 100 ml containers on board...and you can buy bottled water on board!!

So, drink the water and put all liquid from the multiple 100 ml bottles into one...voila, problem solved for the terrorist!

Silly, ineffectual restrictions...brought to you by dull-witted bureaucrats. If we're going to have restrictions placed on air travel, then at least make them effective.
