Tired of maintaining your own blog?
Rather than worrying about posting enough quality information to maintain traffic to your site why not become a contributing editor to an entire conservative community. Post blog entries, upload videos and photos, create polls and events, and even add news items. Simply by becoming a member of "Canadian Conservatives" you have the ability to do all of this and more quickly and easily. Help make "Canadian Conservatives" the Canadian conservative portal. It's free and easy.
Check it out.

Thanks Kate!
The site is meant to foster a sense of community amongst Canadian conservatives. We have some great forums and blog aggregators but there seems to be a void in terms of a social meeting place for conservatives. Once a user signs up they get their own "My Page" which tracks all of their activity (not unlike Facebook). They can then easily add news items, blog entries, contribute in the forums, add polls, add events, upload videos, etc. They can also add to their "My Page" from a selection of over 250 applications. I hope people find it useful.
Been around for years...called bloggingtories.ca
Er, Jeff, blogging Tories is for people with blogs, I think the intent if this site is to allow those who don't have the time, energy etc to maintain their own blog to contribute their conservatve thoughts and pass on bits of info.
It's a nice idea, but a first glance at the layout via iPhone is pretty uninspired and nowhere near as accessable as sda or a site like rcp. I wish its creators the best of luck.
LOL - since I founded Blogging Tories I can say for certain that this is not Blogging Tories.
We love our Kate and SDA; but will keep an eye on Canadianconservatives.ning and see where it goes. This could be a good conservative news collector.
Just to clarify my last point. Blogging Tories tried to implement a social networking component but it failed and was removed from the site. This initiative is a pretty comprehensive social networking site for Canadian conservatives. It does have a blogging component for those interested in more casual blogging. But Blogging Tories is not a social networking site.
Hopefully this will be, unlike Blogging Tories, a site for actual conservatives rather than PC Tories. I hardly hit up BT much more than once a week any more, there is simply not enough Conservative content.
Enkidu, I second that motion and make a tabling motion.
OK...thanks for the explanation...and request unanimous consent to withdraw my comment. :)
"Hopefully this will be, unlike Blogging Tories, a site for actual conservatives rather than PC Tories. I hardly hit up BT much more than once a week any more, there is simply not enough Conservative content."
It is always difficult to try to keep the entire spectrum of conservative happy. I think Blogging Tories does a pretty good job of it. Personally, I am from the Reform camp and am therefore more conservative than the average CPC member I think. I think you will find that this site will represent true conservative values quite well.
First, I checked it out, and the first entry was on the latest Nanos poll. Good news for us across the country, although Ontario seems to be bouncing around within the margin of error. Best news - the Greens have fallen from 12.4% to 4.5% in BC. No seats for you!
Second, it's kind of coincidental that earlier today I was thinking about when and why I started to come to SDA, and kept on doing so. Can't remember the when - probably following a link from somewhere else - but I do remember why I continued. The layout at SDA is very clean, without all the useless clutter of so many other sites. The commenting system is simple and effortless, especially if you're patient enough to let your comment load before pressing the "Post" button over and over. I tried posting at "Slate.com" for example, but their registration process is so tedious, so slow, and it won't remember you so you're forced through the process again if you don't post frequently. I don't bother anymore.
All of which is a long winded way of saying I agree with Gord T. - at first blush, Craig, your site seems a little cluttered. Maybe it will grow on me - and I support the effort, believe me - but you could learn from Kate.
I'll only join if they let Shaidle join first. Anything less than that isn't conservative enough for me.
KevinB, as a poltical strategy, Conservatives want MORE socialist parties to split the vote.
As Conservative, I wish ALL liberal/left/watermelon types would just grow up and be adult about life's issues.
I thought it looked alright. If it turns into a "TORY" site I will not be visiting it for long. The Torys are a long way from conservative to me, In fact I think it is a shame they use the word conservative in their name.
I'll only join if they let Sean join first.
Robert of Bytown:
I don't have any objection to four parties splitting the lefty vote, but let the Greenies win a single seat, and we'll be subject to watching Mme. Moonbat in Question Period for four years, as doubtless whoever wins will step aside so she can retake the seat.
And I find that thought to revolting to face, especially on New Year's Eve.
Happy New Year, everyone!
At Craig: "The site is meant to foster a sense of community amongst Canadian conservatives."
But the Broom was evicted from the BT's without any notice and no replies from it's creators. The only conservative/libertarian aboriginal blog left in the country because everyone else is buried in law suits.
If I joined your new venture what would be different?
Darcey:
I was not aware of that and was not consulted about it. It is one of the reasons I have started this site. You are more than welcome there and I enjoy your blog very much.
I got your email and I appreciate it. Thank you.
I would contribute regularly to a conservative site, but this appears to be a Conservative site. Anyone know of a site extolling the virtues of social AND fiscal conservatism?

Love it. Dizzy May is a walking disaster. Everywhere she tries to make inroads, the votes just dry right up.
Hum if this gets off the ground it could mean a new mode on the web. Information nodes or hubs by partisan groups who are prominent bloggers themselves. Kind of like NRO for Conservative non celebrities. A Cathedral of Conservatism supported by the out lying diocese or Churches.
It sounds like a good idea to pool talent& ideas.

Not sure where you get that impression from. The material is almost exclusively social conservative content. I'd like to get more fiscal conservative content on there but quite frankly fiscal conservative videos are hard to find and usually boring.
