A New Years Eve Prisoner Swap

Is there nothing that Obama can't do?

Today, New Year's Eve, while everyone's attention is understandably on family and friends, we learn (thanks to the ever alert Bill Roggio, reporting on the Standard's blog) that the administration has now released Qais Qazali, Laith's brother, who is the head of the Iran-backed terror network, in addition to a hundred other terrorists. In violation of the long-standing, commonsense policy against capitulating to kidnappers and terrorists because it just encourages more hostage-taking and murder, the terrorists were released in exchange for a British hostage and the remains of his three contract guards (whom the terrorists had murdered).

Lunacy, and yet par for the course. That can't be a good sign when you begin to accept lunacy as the status quo of a given administration.

The One is a pretty slow learner. Of course, if there's a movement to impeach, it will be because American is essentially racist....blah, blah, blah.

America's Chamberlain.

An outstretched hand in a boxing ring is often met by a clenched fist

My above comment begs the question: Who will be America's Churchill?

So much has changed in a year., this story being one example

Here is another. Slowly and surely there is more to the story of Flight 253. Read this and continue to encourage many people to pull on the thread.

And yet, Obama is still loved beyond reason, particularly amongst Canadians and even more so by Canadian females (ten percentage points higher than males, IIRC).

As I've learned repeatedly during my life, perception and reality frequently have no connection to each other.

It may be that we are no longer in an age that can produce a Churchill to counter a Chamberlain. Perhaps O is the new age Romulus Augustulus to an as yet unidentified Odovacar.

Nothing surprising here at all ... Obama is a Muslim and he cannot work against them. He is bound by the teachings of Islam that Islam comes first. We have already seen plenty of evidence ... Here is more

Garth- 35 years ago Canadian females adored Cat Stevens. Turns out he's a muslim too.

This is great.

The revealed wisdom of the dead white males is that dealing with terrorists means more terrorism.

We can put this to the test with this experiment.

ya, dp, but that was before he converted to Islam. He was just a cool dude with good songs then.

Gord T: Please look up "begging the question". This phrase is almost always misused.

But there will be no American Churchill. The voices of political correctness have seen to that. Churchill, despite a less than glorious war record in WWI, railed against Hitler in Parliament all through the middle and late 30's. Who, exactly, has been railing against Islam in the House or the Senate? No one. There has been no voice in the wilderness, because any such voice will be automatically silenced by the MSM.

But seriously, Americans have bigger fish to fry at home. They can't fight Islam anywhere if they're flat broke, and thanks to Bambam, Helicoper Ben, and the Safecracker, the US economy is having a near-death experience. In 2009, the US treasury had to refinance about $300 billion in debt. In 2010, thanks to the Fed's determination to shorten the average duration of US debt (and hence, interest costs) will have to issue nearly $2.3 TRILLION. Where is that money going to come from, when sources like China and Japan are already looking askance at the US$ as a safe investment? If the Fed simply monetizes that debt (by buying the bonds from the Treasury), that's a signal to the rest of the world that the US buck isn't worth.. well, a buck.

Look up "Ron Paul". He may be the only guy who can actually get the Fed under control, although I wouldn't bet against Goldman Sachs thwarting his attempt.

cnn is just too busy covering 'the best New Yrs celebration ever, complete with drag queens and a giant shoe'..and how Sidney Aus. went 'green' for their celebration..that IS more important than terrorists..isn't it????

BTW,the drag queen thingy is in Key West..who'da thunk it?

Ron Paul has no plan on getting the Fed under control. That lying bag of scum have only one intention: enslaving the entire nation of the United States to debt and taking complete control of the wealth in it.

Ron Paul wants the Fed blown to back to the place in which it was created...Hell!!!

Want a great read, get ahold of "End the Fed" by Ron Paul? He does not mince one single word. He exposes the plan of that evil institution and really tells it like it is. He even has some transcripts from some of the conversations and debates from Congress in which you get a great peek into how some of the major players like Greenspan, Bernanke and Geithner are making monetary policy 180 degrees from what they believe is the right thing to do regarding the banking system and the economy.

They should be hanged from the nearest tree for treason and debasing the US dollar.(there is a law for that) as well as the law according to the US Constitution, gold and silver are the only two things which are legally acceptable for paying back debt.

Highly recommended! Not the most uplifting read for the weak of heart and those in debt.

"Armed TSA Agents Threaten Travel Journalist

At 7:00 p.m. on December 29, armed TSA agents banged on the door of photojournalist and KLM Airlines blogger Steven Frischling’s Connecticut home. “They threatened me with a criminal search warrant and suggested they’d call up my clients and say I was a security risk if I didn’t turn over my computer to them. They said ‘we could make this difficult for you,’” Frischling told me in a telephone interview the following afternoon. By then, TSA had removed Frischling’s computer from his home, made a copy of his hard drive, and returned the computer to him.

The federal agents, dispatched form the Transportation Security Administration’s Office of Inspection, had wanted Frischling, a respected travel journalist, to name names. They wanted Frischling to tell them who had given him “TSA Security Directive SD-1544-09-06,” which Frischling and another blogger had posted online three days earlier.

“It was a double-edged sword for me because I did not know who sent me the document. And it was absurd because that document had been seen by approximately 10,000 airline personnel around the world, including personnel in Islamabad, Riyadh, and Nigeria, so the idea that it was somehow in their control” was false, Frischling said....

"the terrorists were released in exchange for a British hostage and the remains of his three contract guards (whom the terrorists had murdered)".

It would have been okay by me if they'd returned the remains of Mr.Qazali,too.

KevinB @ 5:06 "But there will be no American Churchill. The voices of political correctness have seen to that. Churchill,".

This will change after a few Al Kabooms actually pull off their fondest dreams.

The watermelons claim that too many 'Gazans' were killed, compared to the Israeli casualties in the skirmish a year ago, but it appears that when it comes to prisoner exchanges one kuffar is worth at least a hundred muslims and, in the case of Israel, one thousand muslims. So what's the beef (or is it pork?)?

Don't count Palin out just yet. At this stage she cannot reveal her true intentions, if indeed there any, too much time to counter. The time to tell will be in about 18 months from now if she comes out with a big verbal knife and starts slashing the sacred cows as well as the sacred one himself, then we'll know if she's Winston enough.

“We let a very dangerous man go, a man whose hands are stained with US and Iraqi blood,” a military officer said. “We are going to pay for this in the future.”

NO. You ELECTED a very dangerous muzzie, but yes,you will pay for it very soon.

A very smelly story. The reality is that the purpose behind Briton Peter Moore being snatched in Baghdad and held hostage in Iran was to trade him for Iranian spies/advisors captured with their Iraqi Shia stooges in Iraq by American forces. And that is exactly what has happened after two and a half years thanks to "O".
Why a nobody computer specialist would rate four bodyguards and they would allow themselves to be taken alive by real or phony Iraqi police without wasting a few is very curious.

Obama isn't dangerous as an ideologist; I maintain that he's a malignant narcissist and is ideologically empty. He's embedded within the political left only because it, as a political system, sets up an elite governance over a population without power.

Obama's narcissism sets him up to require all his interactions with others to be ones within his control. He requires adulation from these interactions. If he feels he cannot control the interaction - you cease to exist. That's why he seems cool and without empathy in, eg, the recent terrorist attempt; he can't 'feel' unless he is in a state of control.

What is dangerous within the Obama regime is the shadow backroom gang who run him. They are hardcore radical socialists who are using Obama as the upfront puppet salesman to charm and manipulate Americans into setting up their statism in the US and destroying its great heritage of individualism.

Put the two together; an intellectually shallow and egotistical narcissist who requires adulation; and a hardcore group of marxist-socialists who run him - and that's a disastrous government.

However, what 'might' happen is Obama's increasing withdrawal from the scene. Obama can't exist within an atmosphere of dissent and criticism. And, he is intellectually empty and all policies and programs must be delegated to others. So, what is there for him to do? Sell the policies. BUT, with his popularity slipping radically - and his emotional fragility in the face of criticism - I suspect he'll want to withdraw from the scene.

He'll be reduced, more and more, to reading prepared speeches in a wooden tone, and then fleeing the stage.
The Backroom gang will find it difficult to sell their policies; I suspect they'll try to create diversions and more Blame Bush scenes.

What else? No idea...

At what point does this kind of stupidity become impeachable? Isn't there SOME way to stop him?

OweBowLO must have went to school and specialist in STUPID

“America is at that awkward stage. It’s too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards.”

........ those are the opening lines of “101 Things To Do ‘Til The Revolution” by Claire Wolfe.

ET - I think one thing you have overlooked is Obama's roots in Islam. His handlers have their agenda I agree, but I think he has his as well, Islam. This part of this man has not fully surfaced.

Uh, GYM, you might want a proofreader.

"At what point does this kind of stupidity become impeachable? Isn't there SOME way to stop him?"

If they couldn't impeach Slick Willie even with overwhelming evidence then they certainly won't throw an empty suit under the bus. To do so would have the left admitting to the failure to govern.

western canadian - yes, I'd agree that Obama was raised, in part, within Islam. My point, however, is that he is not ideologically committed to any ideas, ideology or societal agenda. His only focus, as a malignant narcissist, is on himself.

He has a deep psychological need to control the interactions others have with him; and these interactions must be fawning and adulatory. That's the beginning and end of Obama; there is nothing more to him.

To achieve this, he has perfected several tactics; misinformation (aka lying or saying whatever you want to hear); emotional manipulation using fear and hope; and, if you resist him, accusations that you are racially or otherwise guilty of bias.

He is also a passive person outside of these interactions and dependent on a strong woman: his mother, grandmother, wife. Obama's anti-Americanism and anti-White stances come from his wife Michelle.

I'm still wondering how he will deal with this situation where he is, for the first time in his life, expected to act rather than stand in the background. He's not an active person; he doesn't develop policies and ideas; he delegates everything. And, he can't handle criticism.

I can't see him doing anything other than increase the 'passing the buck' to others - to develop programs and to blame others for failures. If this happens, will the Democrat hold over the electorate, already weakening, tumble?

It's time to change the category to: "Is there nothing that Obama won't do?"

Why does everyone feign surprise when Obama pulls a stunt like this? We've all been predicting exactly this since the guy threw his hat into the ring against Hitlery.

Sometimes it sucks to be right is all.

somewhere between a hundred to one or a thousand to one proportion seems correct . and I dont consider Brit programmers real valuable at this point after climategate.

Well he said he was gonna shut down Guantanamo, he just didn't say how.

Now the program is clear, terrorist 'catch and release'.

I wonder how many military personnel are 'thrilled' about this, but due professional considerations won't be saying anything anytime soon...?

Cheers

There were also unconfirmed reports that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard was involved in the kidnap.

Perhaps O is the new age Romulus Augustulus to an as yet unidentified Odovacar.

Five gold stars to you for the reference.
A very astute observation.
Its odd where now seeing the birth of the New Roman empire in Europe . While America falls to the Obama Marxist sarcoma .
While leaving the sanity of the American Constitution for the uncertainties of Human Nature, with its morality left to social fads. One leaves Natural Law for the Strongman.
There is no dobt in my mind this guy was an American Koo Koo egg planted by the Islamics years ago.
Took em 700 years to conquer the Byzantines. In the end they did.
This man through his actions shows where his heart is.

Hans - You might be right in a way. As US forces draw down in Iraq they are going to have to close down prisons or turn them over to the Iraqi's. I can't see Al-Maliki (sp.?) taking over Iranian prisoners especially when he's trying to build a better relationship with (what's left of) Iran to further stabilize Iraq and reduce Iranian influence. I also can't see Al-Maliki allowing the US to take Iranian prisoners out of Iraq (for the same reasons as above). I am sure that the US doesn't want to spirit these Iranians out of Iraq (a sovereign country now) for the fear that this will be Gitmo all over again. The best thing you can do is get something in return.

Nice deal..not only does the enemy get who they wanted back, they also get a freebee in that they can bargain with corpses. Isn't the idea of negotiating, to give up something to get something in return? Predicated on the fact that you are bargaining to keep someone alive?

If not, why bargain?
