Finally … action:

The United Nations will conduct its own investigation into emails leaked from a leading British climate science centre in addition to the probe by the University of East Anglia, a senior UN climate official said Friday.
Emails stolen from the climate unit at the University of East Anglia appeared to show some of world’s leading scientists discussing ways to shield data from public scrutiny and suppress others’ work. Those who deny the influence of man-made climate change have seized on the correspondence to argue that scientists have been conspiring to hide evidence about global warming.

    New Element Found
    The recent hurricane (caused by AGW) and gasoline issues helped prove existence of a new element. In early October [2005] a major research institution announced discovery of the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element has been named “Governmentium.”
    Governmentium (Gv) has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.
    These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton like particles called peons. Since Gv has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A minute amount of Gv causes one reaction to take over four days to complete, when it would normally take less than a second!
    Gv has a normal half-life of 4 years; it does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium’s mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes.
    This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Gv is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as Critical Morass.
    When catalyzed with money, Gv becomes Administratium(Am) – an element which radiates just as much energy as Gv since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

  13. Back in the 1920’s the Chicago police were often accused of corruption but whenever they investigated themselves,it turned out the accusations were completely unfounded.
    The Chicago police force of the 1920’s had way more integrity than the UN or the IPCC,and while Chicago had Al Capone,who opened the first food banks in the Depression, the UN has Al Gore,who helped open a carbon credit trading company.
    When historians in future look back at this era, I wonder who will be viewed as the greater cause of harm to the people and the planet, Al or Al?

    What we need now is a leak from the UN showing that they knew the data was crap too, but it “serves the greater good”.

  19. I agree this battle has been won but the war is far from over…The enemy is just regrouping right now.
    Until a chosen independent panel of true unbiased and non corrupt scientists are gathered and given full access to all pertaining work from NASA and the CRU along with the IPCC notes; and until we are truly satisfied that we have everything reviewed and unfiltered to see, we need to keep our trenches dug and our powder dry.
    Our best weapon is still in trying to inform as much of our MSM-only relying families and friends as possible by directing them to excellent sites like SDA and Watts up with that?.
    We, along with the Americans, Australians and more and more Europeans need to keep our elected Reps in check and categorically refuse any semblance of Government intrusion and control regarding this scam of the millenium.
    There is no doubt in my mind now that the world stimulus orgy that just indebted the free world for generations was going to be partially paid back using this fraud as an excuse.
    Watch out…if oppresive communist China (Who says communism has been defeated?, sheesh! that’s so Reagan era) is going to own the world (It already owns a large chunk of the US’s ass)…

  20. R.H. Terry Tory, you couldn’t be more right. Why aren’t people OUTRAGED? Laughter is therapeutic JMD, but it’s not going to get this steamroller stopped. We are talking about world government and an unsustainable (love that word!) tax burden for the working poor and middle classes, new laws imposed willy-nilly…people should be marching in the streets, and tax revolt threatened. But people don’t feel comfortable changing course in the middle of an ideological storm like we’ve endured with AGW, and they damn well HATE being forced to think for themselves, even in the face of tyranny. I don’t know where this is all going, but it’s not going to be pretty.

  22. Concensus is not proof it is simply an agreement.
    We need proof of man made global warming and so far what have is fraudulent claims and nothing more.
    We need charges laid and a freeze on all spending on this issue.
    We have a pollution problem and that is something we can do something about.
    The IPCC and the UN has proven to be untrustworthy and that is not just consensus, we have proof.

  23. I’m at my daughter’s place just outside of Sherwood Park in Alberta. I just got back from a quick jaunt (through some very heavy snowfall, I might add) into Sherwood Park to pick up a copy of the Edmonton Journal.
    On the way back, I had the car radio tuned into CBC. Jian Ghomeshi was interviewing some strident feminist who was speaking down to those “Christians” who apparently like a body of fiction in which the female characters tend to be traditional stay at home wives and mothers and for whom she could barely contain her distain. At the end, Ghomeshi repeated her name and the institution where she works. Three guesses which British university she works at. CBC is obviously trying to resurrect the reputation of UEA for it base supporters.

    Remember the big story is always the cover up, which begs the question, why CBC News tried to cover up the ClimateGate story and continues to downplay its importance.

    The education system has all but been destroyed as far as educating the younsters at being critical thinkers. So that was step number one.
    Now, their ultimate goal is to destroy the middle class. It is well under way and when close to be fully acheived, the internet as we know it, will have been “taken over for the better good”.
    This climategate thing might just be their first argument down the not so distant future:
    “Because of the internet and it’s power of unchecked spread of propaganda and misinformation, the implimentations of solutions on the serious threat to mankind called climate change was almost derailed after it was concluded by the UN and most world governments that although a few malfaisants tried to manipulate some data, the vast majority of the scientific commmunity still agree that there is more than enough evidence that climate change is caused by man and a real and a serious threat for future generations if left unchallenged”.
    Watch for it…It’s coming.
    Who knows, maybe because the whole issue had become somewhat scrutinized more and more and helped by the hard economic times were people tend to focus on economics versus enviromentalism; the AGW/Climate change deceit needed a shot in the arm.
    Maybe we are being played right now…There’s simply too much money at stake for it to go away that easy.

    The fight over global warming science is about to cross the Atlantic with a U.S. researcher poised to sue NASA, demanding release of the same kind of climate data that has landed a leading British center in hot water over charges it skewed its data.
    Chris Horner, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, said NASA has refused for two years to provide information under the Freedom of Information Act that would show how the agency has shaped its climate data and would explain why the agency has repeatedly had to correct its data going as far back as the 1930s.
    “I assume that what is there is highly damaging,” Mr. Horner said. “These guys are quite clearly bound and determined not to reveal their internal discussions about this.”
    The numbers matter. Under pressure in 2007, NASA recalculated its data and found that 1934, not 1998, was the hottest year in its records for the contiguous 48 states. NASA later changed that data again, and now 1998 and 2006 are tied for first, with 1934 slightly cooler. Mr. Horner, a noted global warming skeptic and author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming and Environmentalism, wants a look at the data and the discussions that went into those changes. He said he’s given the agency until the end of the year to comply or else he’ll sue to compel the information’s release.
    His fight mirrors one in Europe that has sprung up over the the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit in the UK after thousands of e-mails from the center were obtained and appear to show researchers shaving their data to make it conform to their expectation, and show efforts to try to drive global warming skeptics out of the conversation.
    The center’s chief has stepped down pending an investigation into the e-mails.
    The center has also had to acknowledge in response to a freedom of information request under British law that it tossed out much of the raw data that it used to draw up the temperature models that have underpinned much of the science behind global warming.
    Mr. Horner suspects the same sort of data-shaving has happened at NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), another leading global warming research center. Mark Hess, public affairs director for the Goddard Space Flight Center which runs the GISS laboratory, said they are working on Mr. Horner’s request, though he couldn’t say why they have taken so long.
    “We’re collecting the information and will respond with all the responsive relevant information to all of his requests,” Mr. Hess said. “It’s just a process you have to go through where you have to collect data that’s responsive.”
    He said he was unfamiliar with the British controversy and couldn’t say whether NASA was susceptible to the same challenges to its data. The White House has dismissed the British e-mails as irrelevant.
    “Several thousand scientists have come to the conclusion that climate change is happening. I don’t think that’s anything that is, quite frankly, among most people, in dispute anymore,” press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters this week.
    But Republicans on Capitol Hill say the revelations deserve a congressional investigation. Republican leaders also sent a letter to Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson Wednesday telling her she should withdraw a series of EPA rules until the global warming science can be better substantiated. For now, climate scientists are rallying around the British researchers.
    Michael Mann, a scientist at Penn State University who is under fire for his involvement in the British e-mail exchanges, said the e-mails’ release was timed to skunk up next week’s U.N. global warming summit in Copenhagen. Mr. Obama is planning to attend.
    “They’ve taken scientists’ words and phrases and quoted them out of context, completely misrepresenting what they were saying,” Mr. Mann told AccuWeather.com in an interview, calling it a “manufactured controversy.”
    NASA’s GISS was forced to update its data in 2007 after questions were raised by Steve McIntyre, who runs ClimateAudit.com.
    GISS had initially listed the warmest years as 1998, 1934, 2006, 1921 and 1931. After Mr. McIntyre’s questions GISS rejiggered the list and 1934 was warmest, followed by 1998, 1921, 2006 and then 1931. But since then, the list has been rewritten again so it now runs 1998, 2006, 1934, 1921, 1999.
    The institute blamed a “minor data processing error” for the changes but says it doesn’t make much difference since the top three years remain in a “statistical tie” either way.
    Mr. Horner said he’s seeking the data itself, but he also wants to see the chain of e-mails from scientists discussing the changes.
    The Freedom of Information Act requires agencies to respond to requests within 20 days. Mr. Horner says he’s never received an official acknowledgement of his three separate FOIA requests, but has received e-mails showing the agency is aware of them.
    He said he has provided NASA with a notice of intent to sue under FOIA, but said he also hopes members of Congress get involved and demand the information be released.
    NASA and CRU data are considered the backbone of much of the science that suggests the earth is warming due to manmade greenhouse gas emissions. NASA argues its data suggests this decade has been the warmest on record.
    On the other hand, data from the University of Alabama-Huntsville suggests temperatures have been relatively flat for most of this decade.

  33. I have been keeping an eye on Enviro Can weather forecasts for my area. It is my belief that they keep skewing data towards warm by several degrees.
    Do we have any whistle-blowers at Enviro Can?
    If Peel region can start charging more money for water to combat global warming based on false premises, can we go after the officials to recover money?

  36. I think it’s important that we put the following red herring to bed:
    The East Anglia CRU “scientologists” knew that McKitrick & McIntyre were actively pursuing all withheld data through the UK’s own Access to Information legislation. Someone likely assembled whatever data was still available into a compressed file because they knew some real info would have to come out or they’d be facing criminal charges. Inadvertently this file was likely left on a publicly accessible server, where it was found by an anonymous individual and posted online for all to see.
    This seems the most likely scenario, and indicates that the CRU server was not really “hacked”, but that the relevant information revealing the skull-duggery at the CRU was left unsecured by incompetent persons. Now that notion seems the most likely scenario in this whole scam.

Try as they may, I don’t believe the government has the power to put the internet genie back in the bottle. There is some hope anyways.

    This is by far the most ineffective organization ever created by man, it is corrupt to the core and staffed with patronage appointees.
    NASA is still stumped on how you get the Caramel in a Caramilk bar.
    UEA CRU is still trying to find the power switch in the server room as exemplified by the calibre of data processing and coding skills exhibited by staff.
    End Result is “Large Carpet, Big Broom” and “200,000 litres of white paint” boiling down once again to a massive appeal to authority.
    Who you gonna believe the Deniers and Flat Earthers and Moon Landing Staged crowd or the UN and the Committees from every major discipline’s Society (adding up to about 1,000 people overall) plus the greatest POTUS in history who has no other plan except a Green one to fix the US problems?

    Rajendra Pachauri, the chair of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, told Reuters the communications posted online “in no way damages the credibility” of the panel’s working group’s 2007 findings that global warming is “very likely” caused by man-made greenhouse gas emissions.
    Yeah, I’m sure that will be a real thorough investigation.
