When I heard Obama say that at his "nomination victory speech", I remember thinking that it was hubris even beyond Trudeau's "welcome to the eighties!" victory speech. When I make a business plan for a new venture I always have three plans in case the situation and assumptions change, I would expect no less from the leaders of our respective nations.
The reason Gordon Brown has no plan B is simple----he intends to sit on the new Global Politbureau.

I think we should have a World law that anyone setting the date of the end of the World. Has to be shot if the day comes & goes with nothing bad happening. I really think Gordon Brown hopes the world will end in 50 days so that he won't have to face defeat to the Conservatives this Spring. Obviously, life will not be worth living without Labour there to screw everything up so badly. New Labour is the same tired socialism of the 30's and Cameron, it is hoped, will bring back a bit of Thatcher's commonsense conservatism.
