But but but the fundraising genius of I iggy should cover all labour costs. I mean his charisma is such that the staffers should return their entire wages as donations to his greatness. Haven't they taken any lessons from the catmeat connoisseur? I mean look at the polls! 14% in the latest bi-elections is beyond all expectations.. no?
Ignatieff's fundamental mistake was that upon becoming leader of the Liberal Party he immediately started spouting the same old tired Liberal ideas. He has brought few fresh ideas of his own to the table.
Sometimes he looks like a fish out of water, and I am sure inside he must be starting to loath politics.
The Liberal Party either picks idiots (Dion) or it turns competent men into idiots (Ignatieff).
Of course I cannot say I mind, because the longer the Liberals stay out of power the better for Canada.
But, but, that's 14% of the 24% that bothered to vote Joe. And as we all know, by-elections are traditionally kind to encumbant governments, er, um........nevermind.
Slightly on topic: wasn't the previous shakeup in the PMO trumpeted from upon high as being proof positive the inflexibility of Mr. Harper? Other than the inside baseball political junkie circles, I'm willing to bet this won't be a blip on the MSM radar.
Justthinkin, fear not, I'm not expressing admiration for the man or his ideas. In fact I think he's a bit sleazy based on his actions and what I've read about his past.
No matter how you cut it, it would appear that the fortunes of the Liberal Party of Canada, under Mr. Ignatieff, have become dismal indeed. The MSM, which has had a long love affair with the Liberals, is filled with commentary questioning his leadership. The 'brain trust' in the office of the leader of the opposition is being decimated. The usual Liberal cheerleaders have gone so far as to suggest a merging of the party with the NDP. The polls are turning increasingly bad and the recent by-elections were a disaster. The picture is certainly bleak and, unless Mr. Ignatieff chooses to resign, there is no way, constitutionally, that the party can dump him. Liberal skies are definitely gray...mine are blue and sunny.
Don't be going overboard over the Liberals attempt to dump Iffy because the backroom boys are so bereft of leadership candidates that they will no doubt "crown" Justin and the MSM will brainwash the Canadian electorate will the same swill that elevated "The One" into the WH. Just what Canada doesn't need is another dose of Trudopeia.
Don Martin, often maligned here, had an article in today's National Post saying he was stopped by an Ottawa cop, and in the course of their conversation, the cop said "I've always voted Liberal, but next time, I gonna vote for Harper." Martin went on to postulate that if life long Liberals are leaving, the natural governing party is in deep doo-doo. Absent any crises, everyone should be feeling, if not great, good from the holidays, just in time for Olympics. With Canada expecting a record medal haul this year, the Tories will be basking in the after-glow. That pretty much eliminates a spring election, and if the opposition forces an election in the summer, most Canadians will hate them. So, there's no election until fall, by which time, Harper hopes, the economy is recovering, and he'd clean up again.
Iggy must be smart enough to at least read. He's got to see his only chance is for something awful to happen in the next nine months, or his best bet is first class back to Boston.
Proof that the only people that don't evolve are these pathetic lieberals. The usual WK dirty politics no longer work in an internet age, informed people have passed over the dinosaurs like cat meat and his ilk in the msm, for the truth, and they are finally starting to realize that Steve and his conservatives just might have the whole countrys welfare in mind not just the welfare of stinking lieberals and the rich families that pull their strings, ala Turdeau/Mulroney/Cretin/Martin etc. In other news. Brown bag manufacturers are having a real tough time making ends meet since Jan of 06.
Iggy may have some idea's, but they are not what the "movers" and "shakers" that convinced him to come to the room full of comfy fur where interested in. They saw someone with a media profile that they thought right of center voters would feel affinity with. Little did they realize that this same "affinity" would be repulsive to the vast left-wing base of the LPC, as was proven the first time they ran him for the leadership and he was beaten out by Dion.
Having realized that they had to sell his socialist credentials to win back the leftwing support, they have now moved their rainmaker Donolo (was he the last guy left wanting the job?) to wave a magic wand and remake Iggy into an icon of leftwing ideology to co-opt the NDP and stop the bleeding on the left.
Of course if this is true, it says their belief in the strategy of all things to all people is going through the stages of denial.

The Libs held a fundraiser in the Maritimes. Justin showed up and gave a speech. Charged the Libs. 10,000 dollars for the privelege of hearing him speak. What would Justin have to say that was worth 10 grand? They were just a little piqued he would charge at a fundraiser from his party. I don't know why, he was reflecting their values.
PMSH and the party were criticized heavily when they came out with those 'negative' ads regarding Iffy's 'Just Visiting' persona......
Damn good ads, they've worked well, and have resonated with Canadians.
Then, with Iffy, in his spots, telling us "We can do better", now sounds more like an exercise of self-help........"I think I can, I think I can, I know I can.....
Iffy does not take good pictures. Every picture you see of him he looks like a goof.
The man clearly has been in academia too long. He does not naturally have political instincts and together with his Rosedale gang had no idea how to be an opposition leader.
Waving red flags in front of a bull is not the answer to being an effective opposition leader. Like all Liberals they continue to underestimate the Prime Minister and each time he made them look like fools.
So Iffy makes as speech which is full of the old Liberal bromides and really says nothing. Bored to tears Canadians begin to focus on the appearance of the man.
His bushy eyebrows going up and down and that lizard like tongue flicking in and out licking his lips add to the creep factor.
He has one speed and that is slow motion. Watching him stand and sit in the House of Commons and watching him enter a room or going to a podium there is only one speed.
Canadians are watching this kind of stuff and saying to themselves that the man has the political instincts of a nat, is a carpetbagger who thinks he should be king and have come to the point where they simply don't like the man.
We said Dion is "not a leader", and he proved us right. The Libs and media even admit we were right.
We said Iggy is "just visiting". So when he soon heads back to Harvard, he will clearly prove us right. Pictures of moving vans at Stornoway will be worth thousands of words.
So when the next Lib leader is in place, and we produce a negative narrative around him, who is going to win those spin wars ? Us, who have been right twice, or the Libs, who have almost zero credibility on everything.

Environmental evangelicals are the most gullible constituency on the planet. They will be spouting industrial quantities of domga at the Copenhagen treaty summit this December. Here’s a prediction: after it’s all over, the last man standing at the BS Corral may well turn out to be Stephen Harper – Conservative prime minister of Canada, normally a country susceptible to Green scare stories.”
“In political speak, he’s not committing to signing anything – although he used the term “climate change”, which will lead some to think he must be a true believer and not simply applying it with the same linguistic weight as, say, a preposition. But look again. He’s supporting a world pact for “clean energy”, but also says it has to be “realistic and responsible”. If the Copenhagen Treaty isn’t, he has left himself an out.”

Wonder where these leftards are heading for work now?

Mine was just an academic observation.
it's no wonder they pressured the Tories on E.I. changes, maybe they saw it comin'

For IGGY this must be more gruesome than Marathon dancing like in the Movie: "They shoot Horses don't they?"
This is surly beyond pain & cruelty.

Well, I like Ignatieff. I think he's probably not a bad guy, and gets a bad rap.
And everybody else here should also hope he stays leader of the Federal Liberals for a long time.
Oh, I don't know, Erik. Maybe Boob Rae will be crowned the new king. Nothing could be better than that for the Cons.

This gives new meaning to the sherrif's call to arms, that he will mess with you until he's done. I guess he meant his own advisors!

I suspect that the worst that can happen to iggy now is that he ends up owning a shipping company ... or something like that.
If my Ouija board is working right ... he'll get an award for best opposition leader ever.

Iggy better start wearing his body armor on his back . . . that sound you hear is mobs of restless Liberals sharpening their shives.
Or is it the sound of Dion chuckling & chortling.

Being promoted to the leader of the Liberal party reminds me of being promoted to command in the Galactic Empire by Darth Vader. Better him than me!

Geezzz Does Ignatieff know his "Comrade" is pulling in $10,000 just to speak!!!
I wonder What would Ignatieff get?
Is WK still working there? Hope they don't fire him as he is a great asset to Harper.
“Harper” is PM Harper.
Bravo to PM Harper.

Hahahaha.... did I actually see someone use the words 'smart' and 'competent' in regards to Michael Ignatieff.....?
Totally Titular...........
