Ignatieff's fundamental mistake was that upon becoming leader of the Liberal Party he immediately started spouting the same old tired Liberal ideas. He has brought few fresh ideas of his own to the table.

Sometimes he looks like a fish out of water, and I am sure inside he must be starting to loath politics.

The Liberal Party either picks idiots (Dion) or it turns competent men into idiots (Ignatieff).

Of course I cannot say I mind, because the longer the Liberals stay out of power the better for Canada.

No matter how you cut it, it would appear that the fortunes of the Liberal Party of Canada, under Mr. Ignatieff, have become dismal indeed. The MSM, which has had a long love affair with the Liberals, is filled with commentary questioning his leadership. The 'brain trust' in the office of the leader of the opposition is being decimated. The usual Liberal cheerleaders have gone so far as to suggest a merging of the party with the NDP. The polls are turning increasingly bad and the recent by-elections were a disaster. The picture is certainly bleak and, unless Mr. Ignatieff chooses to resign, there is no way, constitutionally, that the party can dump him. Liberal skies are definitely gray...mine are blue and sunny.

Don Martin, often maligned here, had an article in today's National Post saying he was stopped by an Ottawa cop, and in the course of their conversation, the cop said "I've always voted Liberal, but next time, I gonna vote for Harper." Martin went on to postulate that if life long Liberals are leaving, the natural governing party is in deep doo-doo. Absent any crises, everyone should be feeling, if not great, good from the holidays, just in time for Olympics. With Canada expecting a record medal haul this year, the Tories will be basking in the after-glow. That pretty much eliminates a spring election, and if the opposition forces an election in the summer, most Canadians will hate them. So, there's no election until fall, by which time, Harper hopes, the economy is recovering, and he'd clean up again.

Iggy must be smart enough to at least read. He's got to see his only chance is for something awful to happen in the next nine months, or his best bet is first class back to Boston.

Well, I like Ignatieff. I think he's probably not a bad guy, and gets a bad rap.

And everybody else here should also hope he stays leader of the Federal Liberals for a long time.

Having realized that they had to sell his socialist credentials to win back the leftwing support, they have now moved their rainmaker Donolo (was he the last guy left wanting the job?) to wave a magic wand and remake Iggy into an icon of leftwing ideology to co-opt the NDP and stop the bleeding on the left.
Of course if this is true, it says their belief in the strategy of all things to all people is going through the stages of denial.

The Libs held a fundraiser in the Maritimes. Justin showed up and gave a speech. Charged the Libs. 10,000 dollars for the privelege of hearing him speak. What would Justin have to say that was worth 10 grand? They were just a little piqued he would charge at a fundraiser from his party. I don't know why, he was reflecting their values.

PMSH and the party were criticized heavily when they came out with those 'negative' ads regarding Iffy's 'Just Visiting' persona......

Damn good ads, they've worked well, and have resonated with Canadians.

Iffy does not take good pictures. Every picture you see of him he looks like a goof.

The man clearly has been in academia too long. He does not naturally have political instincts and together with his Rosedale gang had no idea how to be an opposition leader.

Waving red flags in front of a bull is not the answer to being an effective opposition leader. Like all Liberals they continue to underestimate the Prime Minister and each time he made them look like fools.

So Iffy makes as speech which is full of the old Liberal bromides and really says nothing. Bored to tears Canadians begin to focus on the appearance of the man.

His bushy eyebrows going up and down and that lizard like tongue flicking in and out licking his lips add to the creep factor.

He has one speed and that is slow motion. Watching him stand and sit in the House of Commons and watching him enter a room or going to a podium there is only one speed.

Canadians are watching this kind of stuff and saying to themselves that the man has the political instincts of a nat, is a carpetbagger who thinks he should be king and have come to the point where they simply don't like the man.

Being promoted to the leader of the Liberal party reminds me of being promoted to command in the Galactic Empire by Darth Vader. Better him than me!

We said Dion is "not a leader", and he proved us right. The Libs and media even admit we were right.

We said Iggy is "just visiting". So when he soon heads back to Harvard, he will clearly prove us right. Pictures of moving vans at Stornoway will be worth thousands of words.

So when the next Lib leader is in place, and we produce a negative narrative around him, who is going to win those spin wars ? Us, who have been right twice, or the Libs, who have almost zero credibility on everything.
