I have a degree in Biology from Queen's (Arts'70 biology that I got was beyond first rate, something I didn't realise until I went off to other colleges and listen to their professors (I spent 5 years at Queen's in the undergrad, taking tons of extra biology courses beyond the degree requirement).

"Environmental science" was viewed then as what it is today, an intellectually thin overview of the physical world, with way too much emphasis on geopolitics and not enough on a real knowledge of environments. Environmental Science, is not, and can never be, an undergraduate discipline. At the undergraduate level, the most you can obtain is an opinion, not even informed, as the required knowledge to truly understand it hasn't yet been acquired.

You know what they say: When you lie, lie big, because the sheeple will believe the BIG LIE.

'Problem in exposing it so that heads roll, is that far too many powerful people have got rich off this scam. It's a house of cards; if Gore and Suzuki, Mo Strong et al. go down, that's just the beginning.

Perhaps the kids out there with environmental degrees could just start working on the real issues that are indisputably serious - i.e. land and water pollution, degradation, etc. That has always been my frustration - "environment, environmental" has come to be associated with a belief in human carbon dioxide emmisions causing a change in our climate, full stop. If you failed to believe that the case had been made for AGW, you were labelled a denier, a skeptic (actually not an insult, IMO). It seemed to matter not that you were a believer in a clean environment, conservation of resources, etc. Perhaps this is the beginning of a return to sanity?? One can always hope.

My view is that the AGW agenda, which is really a political agenda of a one-world authority taking money from producing countries to give to unproducing countries - will continue.

It will simply quietly drop the smokescreen of hiding behind a utopian and guilt-inducing cover that claims that industrial development is a sin.

It will move instead to an open declaration that industrial development and wealth is sinful and the 'fruits of man's labour' must be taken from him..by the government. This, after all, is exactly what Obama is promoting.

I too have a Masters degree in Environmental Science, but as my undergrad was in Geology with more than a few courses on the Pleistocene, the whole concept of AGW was patently absurd and completely unsupportable if you know anything about paleo climate.

But as others have said, there are actually real environmental issues that real scientists should be working on (and I do), like air and water issues, soil contamination, improving human environments in developing countries and so on.

Also, it is self evident that free markets and capitalism create the wealth necessary to have the surpluses required to have a clean habitable planet.

What really pisses me off about these clowns is that their actions have sullied the scientific approach that has created the world we live in today. The brand "scientist" has been severely tainted.

I don't think the issue is so much that these scientists have sullied the name of science; they were, right from the start, hangers-on, people who, wanting the research funds, followed the govt agenda and 'worked' in these areas even though they had neither the expertise nor the commitment. I think that the issue is that they were essentially bribed and corrupted to provide a smokescreen for the real agenda, which was to force, not ask, but force, industrial countries to hand over their wealth...not as loans..but to hand over their wealth...to 'developing countries'.

And we know that this money goes to fund the corrupt in those many corrupt 'developing' nations.

And, rather than focus on what could be done in those and our own countries, i.e., using our wealth to ensure as James points out, practical solutions to provide clean water, clean air, etc.. the AGW scam would simply enrich the corrupt. In all countries.

2. Damage to Iraqi Antiquities Was Media Hype

American-led coalition forces were blamed for the destruction of Iraqi antiquities following the 2003 invasion, including inflicting serious damage to the ancient site of Babylon.

But reports of extensive damage have turned out to be largely media hype, according to Forbes magazine columnist Melik Kaylan.

Writing in Saturday's Wall Street Journal, Kaylan noted that John Curtis, head of the British Museum's Middle East Department, was "the single most persistent source" of reports on the supposed destruction.

In January 2005, the BBC reported that "coalition forces in Iraq have caused irreparable damage to the ancient city of Babylon," attributing the disclosure to the British Museum.

The BBC said "sandbags have been filled with precious archaeological fragments and 2,600-year-old paving stones have been crushed by tanks."

Curtis went on to say later that a coalition helicopter base had caused cracks in the bas-reliefs on Babylon's original walls.

A story the Boston Globe stated that "Iraq's U.S.-led invaders inflicted serious damage on Babylon, driving heavy machinery over sacred paths, bulldozing hilltops, and digging trenches through one of the world's greatest archaeological sites."

But this year Curtis began to step away from his earlier claims, acknowledging that Saddam Hussein "had already caused grievous harm to the site in various ways" before the invasion, Kaylan observed in The Journal.

And a memoir published in April by Emilio Marrero, who was chaplain of the Marine Expeditionary Force that first secured Babylon from looters in 2003, said the site was already in poor condition and U.S. forces worked to protect and preserve it.

Marrero told Kaylan that the helicopter base was "up to two football fields away" from the area of supposed damage and the cracks in the bas-reliefs were there before the invasion.

He also discounted allegations that tanks had crushed paving stones and archaeological fragments were used to fill sandbags, saying they were in fact filled with earth.

Kaylan disclosed that Curtis made a June 2008 trip to Iraq along with Elizabeth Stone from Stony Brook University in New York, and found "little or no post-Saddam damage" in southern Iraq's eight most important archaeological sites.

"They did not visit Babylon in the north," Kaylan wrote, "but the places they saw covered a full fifth of the entire landmass of Iraq — all relatively undamaged."

The National Museum in Iraq has now been reopened to the public, with most of its greatest treasures back on display, Kaylan adds, because "the museum's most valuable items were locked away in a vault, untouched by looters."

If the Cons still go along with the proven wrong Global Warming, they have NOT changed their stance even though science is not on their side. If he were smart he would acknowledge that Global Warming/Climate Change has no scientific facts supporting the theory and will continue to fight polution of soil, water and air with CARBON OUT OF THE PICTURE.
