CNN, Jan. 22nd - Promising to return America to the "moral high ground" in the war on terrorism, President Obama issued three executive orders Thursday to demonstrate a clean break from the Bush administration, including one requiring that the Guantanamo Bay detention facility be closed within a year. During a signing ceremony at the White House, Obama reaffirmed his inauguration pledge that the United States does not have "to continue with a false choice between our safety and our ideals."
Washington Post, Nov.18th - President Obama directly acknowledged for the first time Wednesday that the prison facility at Guantanamo Bay will not close by the January deadline he set, but he said he hoped to still achieve that goal sometime next year.

Yesterday on Michelle Malkin's site she asked how you say "You Lie" in mandarin in reference to Obama’s comments on information flow in China. Someone posted that the phonetic pronunciation is SHEE_KA_GHO which just happens to be the phonetic pronunciation of the big O’s home town. Don’t know if this is true or merely sarcasm but it gave me a good laugh. Oh yeah, he lies all the time.

You see, there are two things to be considered.
First is an ideology, the ideology of the current resident of the White House is Marxism/Leninism. He thought that a stroke of pen would change things, just like that.
In the early 20th century Russia, that was a whole different set of circumstances, most people were not well educated if at all. You can tell people all kind of nice tales if they don’t know any difference.
Second, today people are generally well educated, except of course those that the Big Government snagged to permanently reside in the welfare existence. Those people have no choice than to want the M/L, otherwise they would have to actually do something for living. However, in the industrial countries where the freedom has still a strong tradition, it is more difficult to fool people. They way to do it is created an economic crisis and take over due to manufactured doom. You save the world and are home free to impose practically anything you want on the plebeians. The socialist/fascist upper crust and favorable media are there to help.
It is difficult to say how Palin would govern; the strong sense is that even she would do a magnitude better then the current occupant.
It is probably not good to make Palin into some kind of savior. It is sensible though, to give her the benefit of the doubt.
It is also clear that the current occupant has removed all doubt that he is incapable of his post.

Just watching CBC...apparently he cannot close Guantanamo because he cannot find another country to take them. Why is that do you think?
KSM is being brought to New York for one reason only and that is to put America and specifically the Bush Administration on trial. KSM has already given up all that he could when he confessed at Gitmo. There is no element of (US) justice involved.
Gitmo was Bush's greatest mistake. It was somewhat well intended, to gain intelligence from combatants while saving his troops from having to do what most all soldiers do (under the terms of the Geneva Convention), "deal with" non-uniformed enemy combatants in theatre. America's penchant for lawyers is the problem. This is not new. It goes back to Nuremberg when Churchill wanted immediate summary executions for all high ranking Nazis, the US preferred trials. There was no end game for Gitmo and there still isn't. Now that it's Hopey Changey's problem it will be used for maximum damage to US stature.

This relates to the moral and intellectual deficit of the Obama White House:
Eric Holder USAG does not know how US law applies to terrorists has no understanding of the US constitution and thinks he can ignore both.
Along with endangering the lives of Americans and supporting the use of political power to suppress American rights to dissent and expression... he has no answer for the consequences of giving terrorists the protection of those same rights he would deny American citizens.
He believes that making things up along the way is his prerogative ... just like his boss does ... and Senator Lindsey Graham exposes him completely.
