I, a Protestant, attended a Catholic Charismatic conference and listened to one speaker, a young, handsome, charismatic, priest who spoke on the book of Revelations and had us all - priests, nuns, charismatics of all stripes - in fits of laughter. He was far and wide the most popular speaker and we all bought his tapes. Several years later, I decided to listen and recapture that moment. Very quickly I realized that every word he said was absolute rubbish. He didn't have a clue what he was talking about; just a good-looking charmer with the gift of speech was pretty much all we bought into.

Hal Lindsay, with little charm and humour, has stood the test of time.
