Welcome to the Wednesday (EBD) edition of SDA Late Nite Radio. In tonight’s musical selection Texas native George Strait warns of interpersonal climate change, in his performance of Carter Wood’s ridiculously catchy Don’t Make Me Come Over There And Love You.
The comment thread is open for any interesting/timely tips you’d like to pass along to your fellow SDA readers.

Twit reporter from Red Deer,AB,finally released from Nigeria.Wonder if she is gonig to tell Rebick of the horrors women there face, and ask her and the fem-nazis to do something about it?
HEY….I can dream
The enemy of my enemy is my…hottie.
Here’s excerpts from Meghan Daum’s breathless LA Times piece “Levi Johnston: He’s hot, he’s cute, he’s playing hardball”, sub-headed “Who can resist this Playgirl-posing bad boy?”:
“I’m not proud of this, but I sort of love Levi Johnston.”.
“Like him or not, we need this kid right now. Fairly or not, at least he’s playing hardball and not softball. Bullcrap or not, at least he’s keeping audiences awake. Which is more than Walters and her ilk — not to mention Palin herself — have done so far.”
As long as there are women like Daum around there’s a real risk that Billy Baldwin will be elected President.
Steve Janke has a substantial, well-reasoned post up on the causes and the significance of the climate-change fraud. Excerpt:
“An idealist passes judgment on the universe. For the idealist, the universe (or some portion of it, like his country’s politics), ought to behave in a certain way. In other words, there is an ideal state that ought to be achieved. Of course, no two idealists will agree to what that state is, and that is why countless millions have died throughout history, caught up in the fight between competing idealists for whom being right is more important than, well, anything. Putting that aside, idealists work on the premise that if the universe (or some portion of it) is not behaving as it should, then the universe (or some portion of it) is broken.
“Though not necessarily a characteristic of every idealist, most by far, it seems, also believe that it is their job to fix the universe (or their portion of it). The cost of fixing it is not an issue. Trillions of dollars or millions of lives — it doesn’t matter to an idealist. The stakes are just too high to worry about piddling issues like that. The universe (or their portion of it) is broken, and they know how it should be, and it is their mission in life to remake things to reach that ideal.”

The Houston Chronicle gets schooled … by its readers!
Here’s one of many beautiful comments:
This is incredible. Warmists rig climate data, block publication of peer-reviewed papers challenging the AWG theory and the Chronicle publishes this scare-screed. The liberal media barons are flummoxed by the following developments and like the 6 year old who finally realizes there is no Santa Claus, are in deep denial.
1. The data has been rigged.
2. IPCC scientists now admit no warming has occurred in the last decade.
3. U.S. Cap & trade legislation is on life-support and fading.
4. Americans rank the climate charade just above Elvis sightings in things they care about – way behind jobs, government spending, terrorism, health care, taxes, the war,……….
Sort of off topic but, can I inquire as to how to make a riders helmet? What size of watermelon am I going to need? I will be working during the game but intend to wear it all Grey cup day. I just want it to be authentic, that’s why I’m asking for tips. Also is three day’s enough drying time?
Maybe it’s off topic, wuberman, but that’s a damn good question.
Robert W., I find the heat being put on the news-MSM – including by opinion columnists like Mark Steyn and Lorrie Goldstein – to be really heartening, but I’m still really puzzled by the lack of coverage. I mean, I understand why the CBC and the Star, for example, are putting on sunglasses and turning away and whistling absently, but I really don’t understand the dearth of *news* coverage of this hugely significant story in outlets like the WSJ and the National Post.
Lorrie Goldstein hints at a possible answer:
“The revelations have led to a tsunami of analysis and commentary in the climate blogosphere, which is far ahead of the mainstream media on the story. That isn’t surprising given the documents call into question much of the current orthodoxy on global warming many media have inaccurately reported as undisputed fact for years.” (emph. mine)
He’s suggesting, in effect, that they don’t want to cover this story because it shines a light on the assaninity and credulity of their previous coverage. If so, that’s a really bad reason, IMO.
I wonder about the aptness of Goldstein’s characterization of the blogosphere as being “ahead of” the mainstream media. This story broke, including here at SDA, one week ago; if the blogosphere was, say, two or three days ahead of the MSM, it would be fair to describe it as being merely ahead of the MSM. But the fact that this huge story is not substantially “news” in the MSM a full week later doesn’t show that they’re behind in coverage, it means they’re not covering it.
I truly don’t get it. Hopefully some intrepid journalist will secretly tape and then leak the audio from an editorial meeting. I’m really, honestly curious at this point.
Our first scalp! 🙂

Pachuri, you will also fall. ICCCP gone. World returned to normal climate!
Enjoyed very much a movie My One and Only with Renée Zellweger and Kevin Bacon. Loosely based on the childhood (teenagehood) of the actor George Hamilton (the one with the incredible tan in later life).
Of course there is a bit of political correctness you have to put up with from any Hollywood script, but for once I forgot Zellweger’s mannerisms and really loved her performance. The film just came out on DVD and seems to have competely slipped under the radar when it came out.
Check out the costumes, cars and other period details of the fifties. The opening credits alone are worth the price of renting the film.
EBD, this is a very old morality play.
The Emperor’s public relations people have extolled the virtue, skill and aesthetic splendour of the Emperor’s Taylors.
An smart-alleck street boy, who should know better if he had good parents, suggested the Emperor was naked. Everyone agreed.
What does the Emperor’s PR de[partment do? Ignore and move on; never mention again. At the moment, they are not doing this, but booming on about CokeandHavem.
Wuberman:
What size of watermelon am I going to need?
I am an engineer, so I can deal with these sort of simple questions, unlike those complex issues that Tip-Top Climatologists deal with: How big is your head.
Just in time…
The American Physical Society, on Nov 8, voted to reject the climate skeptics in their organization and re-affirm their belief in the science of AGW.
http://www.aps.org/
Maybe time for a recount of the votes?
RW
I’ve seen some funny things on this site in the past few days. But “How Big is your head” tops them all.
I love humor and you made my day.
RW, thats funny!! I love the practicality of engineers. No fudging the figures there.
Just spent a few minutes poking around
An article Gore saying he hopes a new climate treaty is sighned next year….
Another where Obama vows to “pledge” a reduction in greenhouse gasses-not actually sign on to a treaty.
No mention of the elephant in the room in either story.
Back to Obama…. By him not signing on does that make him smart (for not signing) or a liar ( His voting block would mostly have believed in AGW)?
EBD, like you, I’d love to hear a discussion of an editorial meeting at MSM outlets as to why they’re suppressing this story. But unlike you, I’m not really surprised. For joining the Global Warming wagon train is directly in sync with the world view of many journalists.
Let’s take Vancouver’s Bill Good as an example. He has the prime morning show on the #1 talk radio station in the city/province, CKNW. He’s also the evening co-anchor at the CTV affiliate here. Thus he’s arguably one of the top journalists in the Province of BC.
In no way would I ever describe him as a Leftist. But he has so deeply bought into Global Warming, like undoubtedly most of his colleagues & family & friends have too.
So you can just imagine how much pressure there would be on someone like him to change direction now, even with the obvious cover of “We were lied to”.
Put another way, imagine you’re a cow stampeding in a large herd with a bunch of others. Can you suddenly stop in your tracks? Can you even move abruptly to the left or to the right? Most people don’t have the internal fortitude to do that because they have great trepidation that such actions would be a career killer.
Was it unethical for Bill Good to close his mind to the debate and to compare GW skeptics as equivalent to Flat Earthers? Absolutely. But as 2008 showed us, and 2009 confirmed, ethics & professionalism no longer seem to matter a wit to “journalists”. The main things motivating them are acceptance and political correctness.
Until more in the media turn away from the Flame of the Goreacle, it is still too un-PC to do so.
To use a technology cliche, Gunter & Goldstein & Green & Adler were early adopters of a non-PC view of the Global Warming theory. As more is revealed from Climategate there will be more. But it’ll take time.
Historians will look back at us as such stupid people. Not you & me & most SDA contributors, but us collectively.
Right on R.W. I have to agree with the Ghost.
Sorry but I’m sleepy and have not read the above comments, ( in my time zone it bed time )

I heard this rumour that Mary Walsh doing her Marg (I’m annoying you and getting paid for it) Delahunty trying entrap Sarah Palin into embarrassing herself when her security ushered Mary unceremoniously out the door. Not to be snubbed, Mary and her tax payer subsidized hit squad went to the back alley to ambush Palin. Apparently it went downhill from there.
Just an FYI
http://biggovernment.com/2009/11/25/climategate-update-cei-files-notice-of-intent-to-sue-nasa/
The information sought is directly relevant to the exploding “ClimateGate” scandal revealing document destruction, coordinated efforts in the U.S. and UK to avoid complying with both countries’ freedom of information laws, and apparent and widespread intent to defraud at the highest levels of international climate science bodies. Numerous informed commenters had alleged such behavior for years, all of which appears to be affirmed by leaked emails, computer codes and other data from the Climatic Research Unit of the UK’s East Anglia University.
Sort of off topic but, can I inquire as to how to make a riders helmet? What size of watermelon am I going to need? I will be working during the game but intend to wear it all Grey cup day. I just want it to be authentic, that’s why I’m asking for tips. Also is three day’s enough drying time? I usually just paint the pumpkin fron Hallow e’en. Thats because I care ,Philistine!!!
Can’t say why the MSM outside of Canada is turning a blind I to the “Ein a hide a decline”
But from my humble observation point there was a lot of media that not only supported it but employed and worked with the proponents.
The CBC and D Suzuki. Lizzie May and the liberal green shift, etc.
To start reporting that the data was rigged is the first shot in a civil war among the left and its enablers.
Shooting down that credibility not only takes down the AGW scammers, it takes down the folks they where using as high placed expert witnesses that gave the cause celebrity and legitimacy.
It gets proven as a fraud, the whole house of cards comes crashing down on their heads.
In case you haven’t seen this, it’s The Big Picture 101 in a way. Connects this AGW crap & the U.N.

It’s strange to see the world’s best example of programmers and computer guys be STFU or “moderated” to oblivion in a forum that prides itself on their members’ “pure to code” philosophy.

Robert W – Bill Good (Jr) doesn’t even know the difference between left, right or center, he’s all over the map, but he’s decided to put his money where his mouth is on this and he should lose his shirt, though he’ll deny it in the end, he always denies his statements. Ah … by the way, you did hear EBD’s comments on Meghan Daum didn’t you? I think you’ve finally become impervious to these trashy, jealous witches.
What I’m impervious to are stories about Levi Johnston!
larben got me curious so I checked out Meghan Daum’s article at the LA Times’ site. Yikes!
Here’s the comment I left:
I’d love to see the correlation between those readers thinking, “Right on, Meghan! Levi’s the man, Sarah Palin is dangerous!” vs. those unaware of or deliberately avoiding the shocking revelations coming out of ClimateGate. Why do I suspect it would be 98%+???
Sociological historians will likely identify this group of sheeple as The Nitwits.

He did an hour today with Miro Cernetig of the Vancouver Sun who just produced a documentary called “Carbon Hunters”. Not surprisingly it will be shown on the CBC on Thursday night.
http://www.corusradio.com/Shared/AudioVault/…
The segment starts at 32:25. It’s actually a pretty good illustration of what we’re hoping to avoid, starting off with some chilling Maurice Strong quotes. Apparently we’re going to be sending billions of dollars to India so somebody can burn cow dung and try to capture the methane.
At 54:30 they start talking about the possibility of fraudulent carbon credit trading. That’s where the Indian cow dung comes in (56:14) – but it’s legitimate! “They think they can use cows, for example, by sequestering the methane that comes out of cow dung, by burning this off.” This is supposed to save the world from “climate catastrophe.”
Part 2 here, resuming at 06:00:
http://www.corusradio.com/Shared/AudioVault/…
Listen to the segment starting at 20:08 about the possibility of oil companies paying First Nations to not log forests on their land, in exchange for the oil company creating carbon emissions in the oil sands.

I once had revenue canuckistan threaten to sieze my vehicle and tools.
I told them they could have the 84 Cavalier if they wanted.
as far as the tools went, I told them I had ‘loaned’ most of them out so if they want to look up all my acquaintances and get search warrants or whatever go ahead.
then when they got real nasty I took all the documents I had to the hamilton ontariariario office, laid them all out and showed how they seriously f’ed up by duplicating an income figure in 2 different lines when they reprocessed it due to a change in what they considered self employment.
they I told them straight in the face if they didn’t correct the error my next stop would be the hamilton spectator newspaper.
this on the heels of an embarrassing story about the guelph office having unofficial ‘quotas’.
less than a month later they send me a copy of the re-recalculated return with all penalties and monies owing GONE.
they spent all the taxes I paid that year hounding me for money I didn’t owe.
it was the 3rd such instance of the revenooers coming after me. once it was about fraudulent rental expense deduction that caught my landlord in the net. apparently according to revenoo Canuckistan, a cancelled cheque made out the the landlord, showing the same amount month after month, with a notation that it was for ‘rent for month whatever’ does NOT count as proof I paid rent.
I caught up to the landlord in a restaurant. I had bought my first house by then and he gave a kind of look of bemused disgust and promised and did send an official receipt for the rent I had paid that year.
I think that was the time I anonymously sent a .45 calibre bullet to them telling them to back off about their investigations involving honest TAX PAYING citizens. the note said something about the next one might come at them a helluva lot faster.
heh heh heh.

I have had a couple of exchanges with Courtillot. This is the last of them from March 26, 2007. I sent him a number of papers to read. He seems incapable of grasping the concept of spatial degrees of freedom, and how this number can change according to timescale. I also told him where he can get station data at NCDC and GISS (as I took a decision ages ago not to release our station data, mainly because of McIntyre). I told him all this as well when we met at a meeting of the French Academy in early March.
…
Cheers, Phil
This is a very clear statement of what he has done. He has refused to release the data, not because there is any logical reason to do so, but “because of McIntyre”. This is shameful, and the fact that the Dave Peters and Kitty Inglis went along with this is dereliction of duty.”

Police make 29 arrests in alleged counterfeiting ring; still searching for 3 suspects
Updated: Wed Nov. 25 2009 3:52:03 PM
ctvmontreal.ca
The RCMP says 29 people from Quebec and Ontario have been arrested in a massive police operation to dismantle what authorities are calling a sophisticated counterfeiting ring.
“It’s a highly sophisticated counterfeiting and fraud network, counterfeiting false documents, credit cards and IDs including false passports and false driving licenses,” RCMP Cpl. Caroline Letang told ctvmontreal.ca.
The alleged fraudulent operation was based in several locations, including three Montreal daycare centres.
As many as 400 officers including detectives from the RCMP, Montreal police and the Surete du Quebec raided 39 locations in Montreal, Toronto and nearby Markham, Ont.
Police are still searching for three male suspects believed to be connected to the fabrication of the false documents:
* Bali Meta, 42-years-old
* Adel Haddad, 49-years-old
* Ali Ballout, 29-years-old

My brother’s murder is on a cold case episode. I remain on record against the gun registry.
(I’ve seen the argument thrown out there that people who have had family members murdered by guns should have a greater say about the gun registry.)
Friend, at least some of the names sound Albanian to me. That small nation is notorious for this kind of crime, and organized no less, around the world. My brother i. l. works in Switzerland systematically and over the past decade he observed decline of living standards sharply since Swiss accepted Kosovar ‘refugees’, i.e. Kosovo Albanians. Swiss are now struggling with counterfeiting, human smuggling, prostitution, drug, racket and kidnap for ransom rings that have tentacles spread across Europe. Some nations act like infection, no kidding.

Mark Steyn, in conversation with Hugh Hewitt:
“They’ve corrupted the very essence of science. They’ve corrupted peer review, they’ve had editors from journals fired who disagree with them, they’ve corrupted the data. They basically are the antithesis of science. They decide the result, and then figure out how you need to set up the computer model to get the result. This is disgraceful.”
Later,
“I find it interesting that the somnolent, American media, the dying monodailies of American cities, have done their best to cover up this story and not to cover it. And what is interesting to me is if you look at the comment section on papers like the Boston Globe and the Houston Chronicle, the so-called environmental correspondents are all doing their ‘there’s nothing to see here’ stories, or they’re saying that the real threat is that Boston is going to be underwater, apparently, by the year 2015, or whatever. And in the comments section, readers are actually saying you idiots have missed the story here. So if you go to the Boston Globe website, or you go to the Houston Chronicle website, in effect, you’re getting more news from the comments section than you are from the environmental correspondents.”
EBD, exactly !!
During the last year or so, I have also noticed that the readers’ comments have swung strongly against the scam.
