“He squealed his tires”

Christie Blatchford;

He was arrested “to prevent further breach of the peace,” Mr. Feliciant said.
Mr. Brown spent the night in jail and was released without charges in the morning.
Not mentioned was the fact that the natives were there illegally, were illegally blocking a public road, illegally demanding the couple present native-issued “passports,” illegally imposing a curfew, illegally turning Mr. Brown away from his own home.

…and a Caledonia blast from the past.

1. Of course the Constitution says we are supposed to get “Peace, Order and Good Government”.
Alternatively, you can get delivered War, Chaos, and Bad Government.
Although, I might not leap to the conclusion that Kathy Shaidle’s assessment that “Canada Sucks”; I would suggest that some of the people running it suck.
On the other hand maybe the administration of Canada is like a vacuum cleaner.
They suck at your wallet in delivering “Peace, Order and Good Government”, but are expert at ‘blowing your money’.
There you have it, the government sucks and blows at the same time!
Cheers

1st Saint Nicolaas Army

2. the propaganda: police treat all equally
the reality: they are EXTREMELY selective in which groups and individuals are charged with anything.
what to do?
I *constantly* point out their shortcomings and failings throughout the blogosphere and official and unofficial circles.
local cops have refused to tell me where I am supposed to cycle without getting run over by a drunken cell phone yapper or fined for being on the sidewalk. they utterly and completely and permanently have refused to give a CLEAR answer to that question.

3. I was up in Caledonia a few times over the summer visiting a good friend. Conversation turned to the land claim issues there and he came out with something. He says that the real issue behind all of this is a casino. The Natives want to put a casino on the disputed lands but nobody is mentioning a casino in any of the talks I’ve heard about. Now my pal is no fool and he has lots of connections who feed him information so I’m inclined to believe him. Has anybody else heard any casino rumours?
Mobsters, Mohawks and bikers using smuggling revenues to build a casino. What could possibly go wrong?

4. Thanks for the link, Kate. 🙂
There is a -tremendous- amount of money at play in this Caledonia DCE situation, and it is tightly entangled with the cigarette smuggling down in Cornwall. Same players, same PC politics.
This court case is very important, because it reveals the intentions of the provincial government to close scrutiny. The crown in this case is going to go after the complainants like wolves on a pair of chickens. They are determined that citizens have no rights and shall bloody well do as they are told while the Big Boys decide what’s good for them.
Currently what has been decided is that Indian (but not White!) criminals shall be free to set up an illegal smoke shack on your front lawn. Oh, and btw they can kick your ass if you object too loudly. Then you get arrested as well. For disturbing the “peace”. That’s the Peace part in “Peace, Order and Good Government” we keep hearing about.
Just so we all know what’s at stake here.

5. Equal under the law.
Ya right.
This is racism . . . so where are all the activists, progressives and civil libertarians ? This is racism they can support, that they like, that they promote.

6. The government can fix this if they so desire.
It’s easier to fight over jurisdiction, and kill time. The police get overtime, the lawyers and ‘negotiators’ get their per diem (hi there Jane Stewart – got your kids their own cottage on the lake yet?), and the civil servants get back to writing reports.
Just give the federal & provincial government their tax money, and shut the f*ck up.
Silly people.

7. Kudos to Christie Blatchford, one of the very best in the business.
And to Kathy Shaidle, and to Kate at SDA of course!
Here is where MSM in Canada lacks integrity……..
the Caledonia issue should be the subject of Globe & Mail editorials, FRONT PAGE, ABOVE THE FOLD, Christie cannot carry the day alone!!!
Rip Dalton a new one for his spineless, no gonads handling of a rotting situation.
And as far as First nations are concerned they might consider doing something worthwhile such as erecting and operating world class Health Imaging for profit clinics on their contested soil rather than dealing in illegal cigarettes or casinos for that matter.

8. > Tactical stop with shotgun
How do you like government that intimidates people into silence with shotgun? And you still think you are morally superior to Putin?

9. What will the CBC report on this?
Nothing.
But they will broadcast yet another re-run of “One Dead Indian”.
I miss Mike Harris.

10. As someone not from the centre of the urinalverse, I am somewhat surprised that standoff/fiasco is still going on. Mind you, I’m sure the MSM doesn’t report daily on the progress of this intents situation.

11. Kudos to the First Nations for kicking the lily white butts of Euro trash. From Scots to Croats, nobody is immune!
Christie, Kathy and Kate should be embarrassed as hell to sit on their fat asses keyboarding away in the hope that some miracle is going to happen. You call Obama the big zero when in reality the 3 of you are really the big zeros.

12. not stirred enough (which IMO refers to a frontal lobotomy gone bad), you are not fit to breathe the same air as Christine, Kate, and Kathy.

13. My, my, somebody is off their meds today.
Of course stirred forgets that the big “0” is supposed to be the President of the US and as such has the power and authority to do stuff… he just hasn’t.

14. God I love Christie Blatchford; not only is she so honest, she’s so bloody human and makes no attempt to hide her flaws, out there for the world to see. Never did figure out why she left the N.P. and return to the G&M. Not stirred enough needs to be shaken, wish he’d go live with the gangsters out in Caledonia. Useful idiot they’d call him.

15. Texas and Ed,
There are those that do and then there are those that sit back at a safe distance commenting and complaining.
What group are you in?

16. I have lived in just about every corner of the world and love this country from the bottom of my heart, but I have to admit this is one issue where we are completely getting bent over.
How much can we keep giving the first nations before we are even for “stealing” their land?

17. “Rip Dalton a new one for his spineless, no gonads handling of a rotting situation.”
I’d like to believe that this sort of crap can only happen in McSquinty’s Ontaristan.
But I don’t really trust the other Canadian provincial premiers enough to place a casino bet on that.

18. Dude, without white people who would fly the planes? Who will pay the basketball players? Who will employ the Mexicans? Who will buy rap music? Who will black guys date once they “get on”($$)? Who will make decent movies? Who will watch Oprah? Who will write books? Who will donate to charity? Who will care about the planet? Who will work and pay the bills? Who will everyone blame?

19. Yeah, what Homez said!!!!
Who will not get a job cus he is the wrong colour?(white is a colour, isn’t it?)

20. NSE, the natives have not kicked the euro-white-trash butts, they have intimidated the shit out of their neighbours, been very disrespectful and are not willing to admit that they have been screwed over by their whiskey loving forefathers. The lands and rights they are now without were traded away, under duress, inebriation or gunpoint and they are living under those deals now.
I would be angry too, but we all live in the society which we have, the good, the bad and the ugly of it. By stomping their feet with closed fists and holding their breath until the Brinks trucks keep dropping the money bags off at the local Indian band’s office, it isn’t working any longer(oh wait, it still does work that way…my bad!).
There are some awful things that have happened in the past, but the present is reaping the whirlwind of those decisions made well before our time. We have PC loving history re-writers with mostly socialist leanings attempting to heap guilt on the masses and level the playing feild, so we are all stuck in the mud together, equality for all.
You have taken the hook, line and sinker of these turncoats and they are reeling you in like bloated dead fish. Enjoy the ride!!!

21. local cops have refused to tell me where I am supposed to cycle without getting run over by a drunken cell phone yapper or fined for being on the sidewalk. they utterly and completely and permanently have refused to give a CLEAR answer to that question.

Oh my,I fell your pain, georgy boy. Your plight is right up there with the people of Caledonia. Soldier on brave lad.

22. Here’s a tidbit for the SDA audience.
When Caledonia first started the OPP Commissioner was Gwen Boniface. Did I mention she has a native heritage? If any of you are interested google Gwen Boniface OPP native and as my friend has said “be prepared to be pissed off”.

23. Gord, having lived within spitting distance of the Douglas Creek Estates (RIP) when this all went down, I too have heard about the planned casino. The infrastructure is already there as the properties were fully serviced before the Indians decided to invade. Other than some upgrades in electrical power to accomodate a commercial facility, it’s good to go.
For a definitive answer to your question, give one Peter Montour a call. If he isn’t at home, call him at his cigarette manufacturing facility,
Grand River Enterprises. I believe it’s listed under Oshweken in the phone book.
Good Luck!

24. Aaron, you notice it didn’t shut me up, right? Not on the day of, not today. Takes more than that, let me tell you. I’m not some superman either, we’re just like that around here.
Its making life interesting though. Keeping my papers current, you may be sure.

25. “There are those that do and then there are those that sit back at a safe distance commenting and complaining.”
So,NSE,what are you suggesting, that the gentlemen named take up arms and go attack the Heroes of Caledonia?
Apart from writing your MPP,MLA,or MP,there IS little one can do to force the government of the day to enforce the laws THEY made,so we bitch at a distance.
Do you have a better idea? If so, let’s hear it.

26. Lets not forget it was the Indians that gave the world that cursed weed-TOBACCO.
For that alone they should be punished for all eternity!

27. I’m encouraged to see at least one Toronto paper publish this trial. It typifies the repugnant underbelly of politically corrected policing and public policy which has destroyed Caledonia’s community and undermined police repute.
Cynical public policy directives steering police actions (in place of what the law demands) has taken our society to the point of dysfunction. Caledonia is just an example of the type of perverse policing we can expect in times of civil unrest or turmoil – always attack the innocent, control and intimidate them and avoid direct confrontation with any organized criminal elements that hide within minority communities.
This same politically corrected policing mentality is the same civil psychosis that has made TO into a crack gangster war zone in which law abiding sportsmen are oppressed for owning a Duck gun while the gang bangers down town shoot the place up with illegal smuggled hand guns right under the Cops noses. We mustn’t profile, even if the profile is self evident –so the gangstas get free basketball courts and preferential bail conditions, sporting goods stores and duck hunters are run out of town – always intimidate the law abiding and appease the criminal.
This established pattern makes you realize the ideologue elite running our society are functionally insane and their social policies, which we see embodied in politically corrected policing, are also insane. They have made us a dysfunctional society — one in which the law abiding are treated like latent criminals and intimidated and oppressed by police while the violent criminal element is catered to.

28. Why is it that first nations seem to always adopt the worst aspects of Western culture: excess booze, smuggling, gambling, selling in the black market, corrupt government, extortion, etc. You name it, they do it.

29. Does the term Zimbabwe have any meaning to the Canadian government?
I first read about this on Angry in the Great White North, my initial and surprised foray into conservative Canadian politics.
Incidents of that nature won’t happen in a flyover state. If law enforcement doesn’t take matters in hand, the locals will and we’re better armed.
In California on the other hand…After being center-punched by an undocumented and uninsured illegal in San Francisco, the city cop took the woman aside to console her while I surveyed the wreckage of my beautiful Camaro.

30. Furthermore, if their delicate sensibilities were overcome by the squeal of tires, they should stay out of the way during my daily commute.

31. Oh my,I fell your pain, georgy boy. Your plight is right up there with the people of Caledonia. Soldier on brave lad.
Posted by: wallyj at November 17, 2009 2:10 PM”
well wallyworld, that’s just my personal experience.
on the other hand, twice now the local cops have had million dollar lawsuits dropped in their lap. the first one for beating an retired naval officer philanthropist senseless and the current one filed by one of their *own* for racial profiling.
not to mention the trigger happy one that shot up a whole neighborhood in pursuit of a smash and grab artist.
not to mention the previous chief that got fired for fudging his expense account. feel free to google any of this.
cops nowadays are utter asswipes.

32. Kudos to the First Nations for kicking the lily white butts of Euro trash.
To a sane person, it sounds more like criminals engaging in crimes.
Glad to see you’re outing yourself as a big fan of crime, lowlife.

33. Kudos to the First Nations for kicking the lily white butts of Euro trash.
The indians of Caledonia moved to Ontario from New York state. Not that any North American indians are “first” anyway; South American indians made their way through NA much earlier, without compensation.

34. Funny comments.
This is the 1st of 17 suits coming to the government. Abdication of responsibility by Prentice is next.
And for those of you moaning about Dullard McSquinty, y’all seem to have forgotten that ‘Indians’ are a federal matter (hence the fact they ponied up – with your tax money – to pay for the land and partial costs of policing).
While both levels of government have been at fault here, your beloved Cons are f*cking you down the river as fast as anything Dullard would (or wouldn’t) do.
As always, the lone conservative party war room operative was able to distract everyone into a p*ssing match that’s worthy of Question Period.
Meanwhile, Canadian citizens keep getting screwed by their governments. Not simply economically, but to actually prevent the safeguarding of one’s home and property.
People get the government they deserve.

35. Winston Smith – So angry! So cynical! I like that, if that kind of feeling spreads we could have a revolt on our hands! As I said, I like that.

36. “The indians of Caledonia moved to Ontario from New York state..”
That would be the Mohawks. They fought for England vs the US and were given land by the Queen (hence the derogatory term “Queens own Indians”) Other tribes were here most notably the Mississaugas of the Credit which did own the land the Mohawks claim as there own. The sad part of this whole thing is that most of the local Indians don’t like or support the Mohawks but end up getting lumped in with them.

37. This is absurd. Bullies and thugs have no place in Canada. This isn’t Pakistan (nor Sparta). If the police refused to act in Caledonia, one could assume “white guilt”, cowardice or incompetence. At the end of the day, it’s political correctness and it smells rotten.

38. “There are those that do and then there are those that sit back at a safe distance commenting and complaining.
What group are you in?”
Unfortunatly, even when my long guns become legal again, I would be arrested for dismantling an illegal blockade. The system sucks big time so I’m saving my money from the lawyers and padding my retirement nest.

39. What are the rights to self-defence in a case like this? If someone attacked me, would I have the right to fight them off with my registered, licenced and unrestricted firearm? Unloaded until the point of conflict, of course. If so, I wouldn’t mind vacationing in Caledonia…

40. I note the tolerance and diversity crowd aka Liberals are rather mute on this issue? I guess if you are being persecuted by a group of thugs it’s okay if their skin is the right hue. Can you image a group of bible thumpers getting away with illegal and unethical behavior. Dalton hasn’t met a group of radical thugs he doesn’t like, the Tamils are above the law the natives are above the law. Jamacian gangs above the law, where does the liberal pandering end? Rule of law seems to be applicable only if the MSM edicts it?
I hope he wins and I hope the Libs have to pay through the nose, sadly it’s the taxpayer who’ll cough up any damages it should be the Ontario Liberal Party who pays out any damages. No police force should be under the control of a political party, the law is suppose to be upheld regardless of skin color. Is it time to elected those who lead our police agencies, it’s the only way to stop the two tiered legal system that exists in Canada currently.

41.
Kudos to the First Nations for kicking the lily white butts of Euro trash. From Scots to Croats, nobody is immune!
NSE
You are almost right…The Indians are refusing to roll over to the Government…The White butts have allowed thier rights to be taken without a whimper….It is the refusal of the Indians to become Slaves to an unfair taxation (cigarettes) scheme that goads those with mindless agendas.
The White majority that have given up to the (Socialist) “Social Engineering” agenda…The Indians are holding out.
This is when we all switch sides

42. The sad thing about this whole mess is that this is a civil case so no matter who wins, we the taxpayers and citizens lose. If the Plaintiffs are successful, the award comes out of our taxes and probably no change to the chaos in Caledonia. If the Province and OPP win, we see their gutless policies validated.

43. A recent news story stated that Canada is considered the least corrupt in the Americas. Clearly no one has told them about Caledonia. Apart from P.E.I., I can’t see why this can’t happen in every province.
Though to be fair, the local street gangs are all aboriginal. I don’t know why the Mennonite and Ukrainian street gangs don’t complain about such discrimination to the Human Rights Commission.
When the gangsters are arrested(gently) and convicted(sometimes) they do get sent to a special federal jail called a Healing Lodge.
When the gov’t./police selectively enforce the law and the citizenry are prohibited from doing so, even in self-defense, our government is becoming the kind our ancestors fought, bled and died to save us from.

44. “Winston Smith – So angry! So cynical! I like that, if that kind of feeling spreads we could have a revolt on our hands! As I said, I like that.
Not angry – motivated and vigilant.
Revolts fail because they are angry, violent and futile – Caledonia was a violent revolt driven by the criminal element and fed by unintelligent hot heads. – it has, in pith and substance, failed setting 6 nations ’cause’ back years and critically damaging their validity.
Revolutions to regain freedoms and justice succeed. These days successful Revolutions occur in our political and legal institutions, courts and pubic arena. In that regard Ontaristan’s old guard social engineering elite are losing and their puppets like McGuinty will not only be turfed from office for their many dysfunctional policies, agendas and motives, but they will be held in wide public distrust.
Meanwhile the populist revolution grows and spreads to other jurisdictions plagued with civil dysfunction due to utopian-elitist perversion of public policy and the rule of law. Every time a citizen takes errant, bullying agenda driven cops, politicos or governments to court for abandonment of their constitutional duties of office, the revolution expands.

45. Hardboiled and others.
In this instance, the entire issue rests with the Provincial government. The Indians complaint is wholly with the interpretation of documents registered and filed with the Land Titles Office.
The Feds have no dog in this hunt and the Indians recognize that.
After saying that, you can be assured that if the courts rule against them, they will first demand that their “oral history” takes precedence over
written documentation. If that doesn’t work, they’ll resort to more violence and ultimately get their way because the Government has NO guts to enforce the law of the land.
Just take a look at Ipperwash for confirmation of that.

46. The truly pathetic thing is how gutless these “warriors” are in their pretend army clothes and attitudes. Any real resistance would send them running for cover. Of course, that would likely destroy their rebel image in the eyes of the usual PC crowd.
It’s laughable to refer to them as kicking anybody’s butt; they’re an stupid, cowardly mob. Fortunately for them, that’s all it takes to push cops around these days and I’m no longer interested in the excuses about keeping the peace.

47. Indian Mafia! I feel for the people of Caledonia. I became friends with the man that had the swastika painted on his home.(freehold land) The OPP have failed to protect Canadian citizens on freehold land. It is important to remember that the land the that Brown & Chatwell
home is freehold land. It does not sit on reserve land, if the OPP can not protect Caledonia then it is time to bring in the Army. RCMP would be just as pathetic as the OPP. McGuinty on the news last week, said he wasn’t familiar with this case before the courts. All I can say is: What a frick’n liar.

NSE , not to go Dr. Phil on you and all, but me thinks you have made some bad choices in your life, eh ?

49. “Caledonia was a violent revolt driven by the criminal element and fed by unintelligent hot heads. ”
While some of this true, it would do well to look the specific families involved in this. This really isn’t about First Nations, its about the aspirations of a couple of long time extended families of influence on the reserve.
This is not a Federal matter, as the Feds correctly pointed out in the beginning. The land claims were properly settled generations ago by the owners of the day and supported by a number of court cases.
This is almost entirely about the cowardice of Dalton McGuinty. Afraid – yes, I’ll use that word again, afraid, that he’d wind up like Harris at Ipperwash, he prevented the OPP from shutting this down on day one. Had he done so when they had the chance, and done so with vigour, none of this would have escalated. He demonstrated to a bunch of bullies that he was just a pussy. To his credit, if you can call it that, he’s consistent, he’s still just a pussy, but he’s added the additional qualifier that he’s an asshole as well. All orifice, all the time. Harris correctly observed in the runup to his election, that he was “just not up to the job”, and he was right.
The reserve system needs to be shut down across the country entirely. Give the residents an opportunity to title their properties formally as with everybody else in North America and begin to move forward. No one living today has any more claim to land here than I do as a native Canadian.
As to who got here first, that’s lost in antiquity (there’s good evidence that the eastern tribes have their roots in southern France, not Asia or S. America, and in any case its irrelevant.
