Best Canadian Blog
2004 - 2007
Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

As usual, interesting to read the comments section. There are a lot of people out there with real anger issues. Scary, man.
That Salon site is loaded with BAD cookies.
Two of the cookies had web bugs and the site cookie itself sucked nearly 800KB of recent surfing information out of my web history section, clocked my IP, and tried to get personal info from me.
Erik, I was going to say the exact same thing.
damn… and I thought the CBC’s comments section was nasty at times.
yeah, that Salon site is full of bugs, and the layout is horrible. Took me awhile until I stumbled upon the comments area for the letters.

Purchase of a good quality anti virus program will avoid future issues. Freeware is not very good and should only be used if you’re feeling lucky.
What do you expect? it’s Salon. Apparently, it’s “regular” readers suffer angst over everything written, spoken, or for that matter thought, remotely critical of “The One” This hasn’t changed, nor will it. They love to circle the wagons and shoot inward. Personally, I like the way Camille Paglia writes.
I visited the Salon site – no bugs, no issues, just a couple of cookies. But, and I suspect this may be the difference, I use Firefox instead of Internet Exploder. Try it folks (it’s free), and learn what fearless surfing is all about.

Better yet, do it on a Mac computer, don’t even need a router for safety.
But then why would anyone even log onto Salon?
Joe, there is evil about your hubris may well be short lived.
KevinB, Firefox isn’t as perfect and impermeable as some people imagine, try the free version of MAXA cookie manager. I use it in addition to the good quality antivirus/antispyware programs I’ve had for years.
The purchased version of MAXA has some great features.
Click on the exclamation mark in the top right corner then, at the site, click on “privacy test”.
It’s a real eye opener.
At risk of going *severely* off-topic; KevinB – yeah, Firefox rox, and I also use the new (free) Microsoft Security Essentials. The latter is not perfect, but is super easy to use – I can’t stand Norton etc.
HAHAHA. Use Linux and never worry again.
I have checked for viruses a few times since I started using UBUNTU and there is never anything.
Don’t care much for Camille Paglia’s literary opinions but she is right about Sarah Palin bouncing back.
Jeeez, K-K-K-ate, your pals at Canwest had their stock delisted today. Where’s the asteroid?
And how about that recession? A year ago you insisted it didn’t exist!

I Used Avant for years, & never had a problem.
The program i use now came with the computer. I don’t see any difference. Spybot is excellent.
