  1. Philboy: SLAPP suit? Against what’s clearly defamation? Did you click on the link I left?
    http://tinyurl.com/n75ro8
Hmm. So you think there’s charges in the offing against Palin? Prove it, then. You won’t, because you can’t, because it’s not true. It’s a Big Lie. Far Left blog rumors don’t constitute proof.
Nor do vile utterances from Hollyweirdoes and Old Media big talking heads.
The Left is obviously panicking, because it knows it has nothing to use against a powerful political threat to their stranglehold on power, Sarah Palin. The Left knows that all it has is Big Lies, hatemongering, attacks on Down Syndrome family members, sexism, fake ethics complaints that get thrown out but that cause great financial hardship against the innocent victim.
The Left is nasty, mean-spirted, dishonest, cheating, criminal, hateful, you add the rest, folks. They deserve jail, not power!

  2. I have a severly handicapped g/son and he has a great life. But, the other day a tenent in his bldg phoned me and said, you are just lucky Hitler lost the war, and I lost family members in that war, because if he had won, you g/son would have been killed long ago. He hated handicapped people.
The caller was trying to get my g/son and his caregivers evicted but he picked on the wrong person. He and his wife left in the middle of the night without notice or fwding address. I found out from someone that they moved to Ont.

  3. Yes, Senty, I read the link. But what prompted
Palin to lawyer up? What defamation?
I have no idea if there are charges pending,
but there are rumors to that effect.
Sarah’s own bizarre exit performance does little to
quell the proliferation of those rumors, nor does her threat of legal intimidation.

  4. philboy – There is no need for Palin to file a ‘Slapp suit’, for the issue is not about criticism by malicious people, which, though despicable, would fall under the protection of free speech.
It would be a libel suit and libel has nothing to do with freedom of speech but with untrue assertions and deliberately intentional malice to harm someone’s reputation. Since you read the link, then you see that the accusations are totally false. That means they are libellous or defamatory and can’t be dismissed as ‘free speech’.

  5. I’m hoping Sarah Palin has plans to file a few libel suits. She would have every right to do so on behalf of her daughter as well. No one in public life should have to tolerate such treatment. Attack the message or the person’s views but certainly not the person’s family.

  6. > Either you can see what both sides do, or you can blind yourself to the actions of those whom you support…
    Exactly. Thank you.
    Partisanship = stupidity.

  7. Darrell- I’m not sure of your point. The truth exists ‘as it is’; it’s the truth and has nothing to do with one’s perspective, partisan or not.

  8. pillboy thinks its trendy to spread libel about conservatives. That’s because pillboy is a dork living in mum’s basement.
Mum’s going to be p1ssed when she gets served for letting you spew on her web connection, pillboy.

  9. I NEVER read feminist blogs but Prof. Reynolds linked to this fascinating post by a feminist taking her fellow feminists to task for dissing Palin based on lies. It is a fascinating read well worth your valuable time……..
“Sarah Palin is the Designated Hate Receptacle for self-described feminists. They know they’re not supposed to hate other women, but they do anyway because their feminism is not quite as strong as their patriarchal brainwashing. Sarah Palin is the culture’s designated Hate Receptacle.
I’m not entirely satisfied with that, but it’s the best I can come up with. If we add to that the subconscious Obama resentment-transference, perhaps on a kind of sliding rheostat thing, we may be getting close to a solution.
What’s alarming is that the need for a female Hate Receptacle exists, even with feminists. But that would explain why Palin haters are so reluctant to give up hating her. It would explain why they’re so resistant to the truth. They don’t want to find out that the lies are lies; they don’t want to be disabused. They need a hate receptacle, and so they need Palin to be the sum of all things they fear.”

  10. Fritz, that’s some interesting reading. Got a link?
I think the likes of Mr. Nelson throughout the MSM are reacting to the horrifying catastrophe Obama is turning out to be. They can’t admit they let The One totally pw0n them, so they dis the chick instead.
    Its classy.

  11. “I’ll sue you for defamation!” is the toothless wonder of the legal world. The bluster is meant to scare people, intimidate them, and get them to be quiet. In this particular case, it’s not going to work. Shannyn Moore (the target of the suit)has already discussed the threat on her radio show, where she said emphatically, “Bring it on.” She said she had already gotten legal advice, and has a long list of attorneys who had emailed her, stepping up and eagerly offering to depose Sarah Palin in such a case. Now that would make for some damn good blogging material.
    -AKMuckraker
ET, what untrue assertions and deliberately intentional malice to harm someone’s reputation are your referring to?

  12. philboy – if you read the link, with the lawyer’s letter, you’d know the answer to your question.
Libel suits are criminal actions, and ‘muckraker’, trying to trivialize them, doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
I don’t think that there is much in the way of defense against deliberate libel. The defense has to show that the defendant made those statements in the certainty that they were true, and as the legal letter said, any examination of the facts would show that the accusations were not true.
I suggest, again, that you read the lawyers’ letter.

  13. ET, Ms Moore stated “as fact” that there were rumors of a federal investigation, not that the rumors are fact.
Just because Palin’s lawyer avers something doesn’t make it so.

  14. Not only are the lefties sore losers (although frankly, who isn’t) they are even worse sore winners. You’re guy won, let the hate go.

  15. From the LA Times, just for Pillboy:

Despite rumors of a looming controversy after the Republican governor’s surprise announcement Friday that she would leave office this month, some of them published in the blogosphere, the FBI’s Alaska spokesman said the bureau had no investigation into Palin for her activities as governor, as mayor or in any other capacity.

“There is absolutely no truth to those rumors that we’re investigating her or getting ready to indict her,” Special Agent Eric Gonzalez said in a phone interview Saturday. “It’s just not true.” He added that there was “no wiggle room” in his comments for any kind of inquiry.

BTW, spreading a rumour known to be false, with an intent to harm, is a defamation. As to SLAPP suits, that’s what the endless ethics complaints have been – an attempt to bankrupt the gbvernor in order to force her out of politics.

  16. philboy – a rumour is not and can never be, a fact. It’s a rumour, which is to say, it is an unsubstantiated, unverified, opinion.
And don’t play semantic games. We aren’t talking about the FACT that Ms Moore says that ‘rumours exist’. We are talking about the validity or not, of the CONTENT of these rumours. Not the packaging.
And yes, if a lawyer provides the facts, not rumours, but the facts that there are no investigations, etc (see also the LA Times report of the Alaskan FBI) – then, although I know you won’t like to accept it, this legal assertion is substantiated FACT and not rumours of unverified opinions.

  17. “Goodbye Sarah. Late Night Comedians will have to work harder to come up with material from this point onwards.
Posted by: Jose at July 5, 2009 5:05 PM”
I guess tackling Al Franken would be considered incest?

  18. Well, ET, let Sarah Palin and all the legal pitbulls she can muster, bring it on, and let the chips fall where they may. Shannyn Moore says she’s game.
One thing I can state as absolute truth– You don’t know what the facts are. Nor do I.
But there is something about Palin’s recent behavior that stinks to high heaven.

  19. pillboy
I suggest you learn the meaning of “intent and context” in a legal sense, as your nonsense in here can expose you legal repercussions. You are justifying spreading false accusations, that can be viewed as defamation!!!

  20. a rumour is not and can never be, a fact.
A rumour can indeed turn out to be factual, and would be a fact even before having been revealed as such.
For instance, it is rumoured that Senty is actually a gay Muslim whose whole schtick is a clever running con designed to make conservatives look ridiculous. If that turns out to be true, then it has always been true.

  21. She upstaged the Micheal Jackson parade.
Think long & hard on that.
One could reflect as well its hard to run a State while being sued by Obama imps for no reason but harasment. Thats just the front not the political pressure from the termites in the rear. Alaska could suffer under this President. In many ways economicaly.
With the left vilification never stops, their not into being fair. They want only power & your money. While claiming god like authority over individual lives. An individual like Sarah Palin is like holy water to this coven of collective vampires.
The lefts distain for life is shown by the anger of the utopian eugenics being defied by having a “Defective Child” in thier parlence.
It outrages the lust for blood in them towards the innocent. Its an effront to the entitled elites delusions.

  22. The Phantom,
I see you have taken to defending people without knowing what they do. Talk about knee-jerk. I don’t normally waste time with political hacks. They have a tendency of assuming they are always right.
” So if Annie says some random, un-named judge needed killin’, unless you’ve got some specifics that show otherwise, I’m good with it.”
The un-named Judge is named in my post above (Posted by: twiddler | July 5, 2009 2:12 PM) :
“Tasteless is a nice way of saying she didn’t mean to be mean. I would believe that. But then she went and said she wanted to poison Justice Stevens.”
That would be Associate Justice John Paul Stevens. He works in this little court in Washington DC called the US Supreme Court. You may have heard of it. Easy with the knee-jerk reactions though. Defending Ann could give you arthritis. And try thinking, you know, independently, instead of parroting the party line. You could teach the North Koreans a thing or two about pary ideology indoctrination.
    Next one-trick political hack, please.

  23. rian and sasquatch:
I’m sure Ms. Palin would appreciate the chivalrous gesture, but given her own ability with a rifle, I’d wager she’d rather take her own chances with a snivelling little weasel like Nelson. The only gun he’s ever fired is his own, at night, under the covers. While asleep. Alone.

  24. Oh, by the way, not only is it “rumored” that Barack Hussein Obama is gay, it’s also a FACT that a man has openly declared that he had “sex” with Obama.
    Whaddya thinka that, Pillboy?
Just because it’s denied, what the gay guy said about bangin’ Bambam’s bum or whatever, does that necessarily mean that Bambam didn’t do the bumbang with his boy buddy?

  25. “IQ levels say absolutely nothing about one’s worth as a human being. However, trumpeting one’s membership in Mensa is indicative of some level of neurosis.”
Posted by philboy at July 5, 2009 12:52 PM
It is not the fault of the people that post at SDA that you were not accepted into Mensa.

  26. Whatever the reasons for Palin’s exit, she will never become POTUS. She simply does not have the smarts.
Surely the GOP will be able to find a few credible options to the Obama catasprophe?

  27. The FBI special agent Gonzales in Alaska has stated that Palin is NOT being investigated.

  28. Never heard of Nelson and will forget him as soon as the conservative blogs drop him from their posts.
Also, re Ann Coulter, she fairly glows with intelligence. The difference between Ann versus any left-wing “comic” or editorialist, is that she is savagely clever and hysterically funny. The libs are neither, e. g., Maher, Franken, Letterman, et al.

  29. Great summation from Wonkette:
Sarah Palin, a snowbilly grifter who spent her entire adult life desperately trying to become a Public Figure, apparently wants her attorneys to stupidly and pointlessly threaten American practitioners of free speech regarding our public figures and elected officials.

  30. PHILBOY, defamation isn’t “free speech”. If it is, then I can call you a gay pedophile and get away with it, and if you sue me, it’s a SLAPP suit to be dismissed.
According to your convoluted illogic, that is.
Just like how George Soros admits to collaborating with the Nazis but also says he didn’t do it. It’s all delusional. Leftists tell themselves whatever they want. And you’ll soon see that that’s what you’re now doing re. the Palin lawsuits for defamation.

  31. I guess that IQ of 148 is why Obama went to community college rather than straight to a top university out of high school. He is so smart that he could see that it was the only course that would lead him to become POTUS. Kind of like calling a triple quadruple bank shot in pool.

  32. On a lighter note, I grew up with three older brothers. Sigh.
Instead, I think it would have been really cool to have sisters like Kate and Sarah instead? Hey that’s it!
    Palin/MacMillian 2012! 🙂

  33. Seems to me we already have a vast retarded group in this countey. It’s called the Left.

  34. In case you aren’t familiar with the US education system. The only academic requirement, and this one is not strictly enforced, to attend community college is that the applicant graduated high school or has taken an equivalency test, *regardless of grades*.

  35. dear twaddle -er,
When I say the word “specifics”, I do not mean one thing taken out of context that an author of thousands of articles said about some guy one time. I mean, specifically what she said, with the context wherein she said it. Taking some comment out of context and smearing people with it is a typical Lefty technique, famously used on Rush Limbaugh with the “I hope Obama fails” smear.
I do not defend Ann Coulter. She does not need my defense. Unless you can give me page and paragraph proving your contention, I’m writing you off ans one more Lefty smear artist from the troll brigade.
Furthermore sir, Justice Stevens is THE most liberal of the SCOTUS, and I do not find his opinions even faintly reasonable for the most part. So if Ann Coulter said something mean about Johny, way to go Ann.
However, twaddle-er, let us consider the context -your- remarks are being made in. You my friend are defending one Eric Sean Nelson, who has gone quite beyond the pale here in trashing a woman who has done nothing but run for office. You are playing the “they all do it” card, trying to shuffle off some blame from widdle Eric to that mean Coulter girl.
So let’s not pretend you hold the moral high ground here, shall we? Even if what you said about Ann Coulter is 100% correct, and even if she tried to poison the judge herself, it has no bearing on the truly appaling behaviour of the entire Democrat media machine toward Sarah Palin.
You are defending scum. Why is that, twaddle-er?

  36. The Phantom,.
“I’m writing you off ans one more Lefty smear artist from the troll brigade”
Go for it. I can do without the ‘The Phantom seal approval’. In fact, I think your writing me off is a badge of honor. The last thing I want is an ideological hack saying he agrees with me on anything.
“You are playing the “they all do it” card, trying to shuffle off some blame from widdle Eric to that mean Coulter girl.”
I am not to blame for the Nelsons of this world. I haven’t defended him once. I want him out. I want all the ‘mean’ ones out – across the spectrum. You, on the other hand, only want the’mean’ on the other side shut down. Your side aren’t wrong ever. I mean, the Phantom approves of the Ann Coulters of this world. And the Phantom is always right.
The truth is, I am telling you to put your money where your mouth is. And you don’t want to. You only want to condemn them when it suits you. I am not defending Nelson or anyone. You, on the other hand, are launching a spirited defence of Coulter. I suggest you stop blaming me for something you yourself are doing, esepcially when I am not doing it at all. Consider the following:
“it has no bearing on the truly appaling behaviour of the entire Democrat media machine toward Sarah Palin.”
An interesting statement coming from someone who says:
“So if Ann Coulter said something mean about Johny, way to go Ann.”, because Johnny is “THE most liberal of the SCOTUS”
By your very own logic, lefties are justified in saying “something mean” about Palin, because Palin is the is a conservative figure on the political scene.
If you can do it, why can’t they? I say both shouldn’t be allowed to. You insist that Ann should be, but Nelson shouldn’t be.
I have no interest in claiming the moral high ground, but I can hardly be blamed for the fact that on the moral spectrum, I appear to be on the moral high ground relative to you. It is all appearance. I am on no high ground. You have just managed to lower yourself so much that the ground I am standing on, which is fairly average, is higher relative to the moral ground you insist on occupying.

  37. Barrack Hussein Obama’s blog of choice says everything you need to know about the president. Oops, are we allowed to use his middle name yet?

  38. Philboy take note:
FBI counters rumors, says Palin isn’t under investigation
RUMORS WRONG: Agent rebuts circulating allegations cited by Anchorage blogger.
    http://www.adn.com/palin/story/854318.html
Why, then, continue to spread rumors known to be false?
Continuing to allude to rumors known to be false could very well be actionable, so the Left needs to shut its pie hole and stop spreading rumors designed to malign and demonize a political opponent.
How would the Left like it if I, hypothetically, were to allude to rumors that Obama is under investigation for rape, even though the FBI said he isn’t? The Left would have a shyte fit.

  39. Twaddle, I see that moral high ground of yours is so stratospheric you can’t give me a quote, or even an article. Air a bit thin up there on Mt. Olympus? Or is your keyboard cable not quite reaching?
I hope you’ll forgive me if I don’t take your unsupported word for it, eh? I’m just a humble political hack/redneck, I like things in writing.
‘Cause some people lie on the Interwebs sometimes, y’know? Make stuff up. People like Reuters, AP, Albert Gore… twaddle-er… pillboy…

  40. richfisher,
    Read the whole thing.
“I am on no high ground. You have just managed to lower yourself so much that the ground I am standing on, which is fairly average, is higher relative to the moral ground you insist on occupying.”
I never claimed to be on the moral high ground. Guess who’s blind.
    The Phantom,
I never post links here mostly because I am under the impression that Kate doesnt like hyperlinking here, but, despite your apparent use of keyboard cables (may I suggest a wireless one, or better yet a laptop), I think you are technologically savvy enough to use google. All you really have to do is type Ann Coulter Justice Stevens. And then click on what shows up.
I don’t know who you consider credible and I don’t care. You can go search for them and what they have done. Stop being lazy and expecting others to do your work.

  41. “The libtard elitists had better watch out. Their fear of Palin as a conservative factor in politics has lead them to scorn her once too often. By resigning she’s freed herself up to lay the groundwork to further develop her vote getting and fundraising activities.
“Hell hath no greater fury than a woman scorned”
Actually, Sarah Palin has been the lucky break the democrats needed in the last election….and has continued to be just the sort of person who keeps the money rolling into the DNC. You could hardly have made up a better ready made election loser.
If McCain had say chosen Kay Bailey Hutchinson or some other woman with half a clue…he might have been a threat. Instead he chose, almost seemingly on purpose to pick the worst person he could, apparently to spite those in the RNC that forbid him from choosing Lieberman. In general, picking a Alaskan politician to run in a national campaign is extemely sketchy. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to speend a little more time in Alaska.
PS, To The Phantom: lay down boy, you keep getting up and twiddle will only make you uglier.
    bahaha!
