  4. I was just flipping channels on the tv and happened upon an interview between a couple of MSM folks. They were both agreeing that Obama was the greatest speaker of all time. Seriously. So I though I would provide a link that I have been going to for several years. It has mp3’s of great speeches. MLK, Wilson, Kennedy, Nixon, MalcomX, Huey P Long. Absolutely brilliant stuff. I actually enjoy listening to people I don’t agree with speak because they just speak so well. Obama isn’t even close to them. Anyway, here it is.

    I love being treated like a criminal. At border crossings and airports is when I feel most at home. I like intrusive questions, strip searches, official paranoia, and constant suspicion. Hey, if I haven’t done anything wrong, what do I have to worry about?
    So I’m happy–so happy I could punch holes in the wall–about new legislation introduced in Ottawa last week by the federal Conservatives. It will give the government and the police unprecedented access to all my electronic communications and personal information. Yipee!
    The government calls it legislation “to fight crime in the 21st century.” In fact, the bill itself is called the “Investigative Powers for the 21st Century (IP21C) Act.” I suppose the Conservatives want it to sound like The Jetsons, but their tactics have more in common with the Keystone Kops.

  8. Gosh, after 67 years he can almost hold a tune! That’s the best I’ve ever heard him. They say his real name was Zimmerman, or some such, but he took Dylan after the poet Dylan Thomas who was a far,far
    better wordsmith, but not as good as Gerard Manley Hopkins, who I think Thomas was trying to imitate.

  12. WHO AM I?
    *I was born in one country,raised in another. My father was born in another country. I was not his only child. He fathered several children with numerous women. I became very close to my mother,as my father showed no interest in me. My mother died at an early age from cancer.
    *Later in life,questions arose over my real name. My birth records were sketchy and no one was able to produce a legitimate,reliable birth certificate.
    *I grew up practicing one faith but converted to Christianity, as it was widely accepted in my country, but i practiced non-traditional beliefs & didn`t follow Christianity, except in the public eye under scrutiny.
    *I worked and lived among lower-class people as a young adult, disguising myself as someone who really cared about them. That was before i decided it was time to get serious about my life and i embarked on a new career.
    *I wrote a book about my struggles growing up. It was clear to those who read my memoirs that i had difficulties accepting what my father abandoned me as a child.
    *I became active in local politics in my 30`s then with help behind the scenes, I literally burst onto the scene as a candidate for national office in my 40`s. They said i had a golden tongue and could talk anyone into anything. That reinforced my conceit.
    *I had a virtually non-existent resume, little work history, and no experience in leading a single organization. Yet i was a powerfull speaker and citizens were drawn to me as though i was a magnet and they were small roof tacks.
    *I drew incredibly large crowds during my public appearances. This bolstered my ego.
    *At first my political campaign focused on my country`s foreign policy. I was very critical of my country in the last war and seized every opportunity to bash my country.
    *But what launched my rise to national prominence were my veiws on the country`s economy. I pretended to have a really good plan on how we could do better and every poor person would be fed & housed for free.
    *I knew which group was responsible for getting us into this mess. It was the free market, banks & corporations. I decided to start making citizens hate them and if they were envious of others who did well, the plan was cinched tight.
    *I called mine “A People`s Campaign” and that sounded good to all people.
    *I was the surprise candidate because i emerged from outside the traditional path of politics & was able to gain widespread popular support.
    *I knew that, if i merely offered the people ‘Hope’, together we could change our country and the world.
    *So, i started to make my speeches sound like they were on behalf of the downstrodden, poor, ignorant to include “persecuted minorities” like the Jews. My true views were not widely known & i needed to keep them unknown, until after i became my nation`s leader.
    *I had to carefully guard reality, as anybody could have easily found out what i really believed, if they had simply read my writings and examined those people i associated with.
    *I`m glad they didn`t, because i became the most powerfull man in the world. And then the world learned the truth.

    It’s interesting to see what happens to famous folks when they “find Jesus.” I’m thinking of Dylan and Van Morrison (“Avalon” and others). They see the light but gradually move away from it. I’ve often wondered about this, and figure it’s because of the derision and disdain of their fellow entertainers who would approve of their new-found religion if it was Hinduism, Buddhism, or an amalgamation of New Age quackery but just can’t deal with Christianity.
    ‘Little wonder that towards the end of his life — isn’t Dylan almost 70? — he’s looking to eternity. I liked the gentleness of this song, the mature realization that the deal IS going down and that there’s “someone” there to ease the passage, an echoing of Jesus’ promise, “Lo, I am with you always.” Dylan would not be unaware of them.

  24. Has anyone been watching this Air Canada saga. These guys are talking about bankruptcy protection again. Didn’t they just go through this? Are there any suppliers or bankers left that are willing to deal with this company. I see in a recent article that they are “talking to the government about financing options”. Hold onto your wallets. Here it come again.

    “Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth became a big part of the British secondary educational landscape when it was made part of the official curriculum. This was big victory for those who feel the world is in imminent danger because of anthropogenic global warming. However, the High Court of London recently said ‘not so fast.’ Steward Dimmock sued under Section 406(1)(b) of the Education Act 1996, claiming that the movie is a form or political indoctrination. That law says that school governing bodies and head teachers ‘shall forbid… the promotion of partisan political views in the teaching of any subject in the school’.
    “The court ruled that 1.) in order to show this movie to the children teachers must make clear that the film is a political work and promotes only one side of the argument. 2.) If teachers present the film without making this plain they may be in breach of section 406 of the Education Act 1996 and guilty of political indoctrination. 3.) Nine inaccuracies have to be specifically drawn to the attention of school children.”

    countrywide. That should apply to money carriers,
    shouldn’t it? If it should not, what other
    businesses should be excluded? And would only

    Who those individuals will be and what criteria
    for exemption will be established?
    Motivation behind this fascist infringement on
    our liberty is, OF COURSE, safety: the armored
    vehicles carry more weight and are therefore
    unsafe. There is no mention that an average SUV
    can carry up to 2000 lb of cargo in the stock
    configuration, while the weight of an average
    armor package on the market is around 500 lb.
    Do the politicians ever consult with the
    scientists before opening their mouths?
