Don’t Pin Him Down On Iran, Man

When I got to the language quoted above, especially when Obama seems to have confidence that the Iranian government is really looking into irregularities, and points out our lack of international observers, I swear I thought Jim was going to reveal at the end that this was an exceedingly clever parody of President Obama. Sadly, no.

Go see the quote for yourself (and keep reading).

  1. Seeing as how the election was never claimed to be democratic but was chosen by the mullahs. Seeing how Obama does not seem overly concerned about irregularities in his rise to POTUS I won’t hold my breath on say… sanctions and a firm rejection of the results. After all he would have to step down or be a hypocrite. I have a pretty good idea which he will choose.

  2. I get the impression he’s kinda busy and worrying about too many things is tiring for him. And remember these people started their protest on the weekend, which likely interfered with date night.
Or, as Steyn as pointed out, his only concern with international affairs is that something might distract from his plans to transform the country in his image.

  3. I think that Steyn’s view, that Obama is totally disinterested in foreign affairs, is correct. Why?
Because he can’t control others. And he lives only in a ‘textual realm’ where he controls people. If he can’t control them, they have no reality for him. They simply don’t exist. So, Obama can, with his endless speeches and the Democrat Congress, and his hyperbolic threats where everything is ‘in crisis’… control what’s going on in America.
He can’t control the foreign world. So, he’ll denigrate and insult foreign leaders of the West. That’s to show them he’s The Boss, even though he knows he can’t control them. And – He’ll belittle and insult America to other leaders, particularly Arab and Dictators; that’s to show that he, himself, is separate from the America they hate.
So, he’ll do nothing about Iran. Or any other situation, other than talk and possibly, fling some money at them.

  4. Sounds like a man in search of fatwa insurance. Has he tried Warren Kinsella’s broker?

  5. ET, I’m curious since I know someone who suffers from the same pathology, how do you get through the thick shell of someone like Obama to communicate the message that there actually is another way and there are other points of view and that if you continue to isolate yourself in this way, it is counterproductive?
    I know that’s a mouthful.

  6. Obama will soon be known as public enemy number one.
What he is doing to America is criminal.

  7. Doug – I don’t think you can get through Obama’s textual world. after all, to do so would be to take control away from him as to who enters this realm. And he alone, has to be in control.
If he feels that you are trying to take control, this can cause great emotional distress – and he’ll try to protect his ownership of his ‘world’ by attacking you.

  8. Obama is a complete and utter goof.
he doesnt understand world politics any better than Dave Bronconnier in Calgary
    or that alderman DUH Farrell

  9. I never seen a self invented deity who absolutely loves to hear his own voice more than the Wiz of ‘O. He missed his calling – he could have contended for the “Sham-Wow” job.
Now he’ll have to be content with being the spokesperson for the “Sham-Now” job.
It’s the difference between selling something that does a good job cleaning up messes and being someone good at making them worse.

  10. Momar, her is currently O-b-one. It has to get a whole lot badder for his halo to crumble.

  11. I disagree with several posters here that Obambi is in control. He has neither the intellectual rigour or emotional strength to control Washington.
He is George Siros’ (White) House Boy. That’s all. His personal intent during his presidency is to enjoy the ride; preen his featrhers.

  12. Isn’t this what George W Bush told you was going to happen in the Middle East?
Maybe that’s why Barack Obama has so little apparent interest in finishing the job in Iran… no matter how much it benefits the US and free world.
Anyone who expected him to act in the interests of the United States -rather than for his own political security- hasn’t taken a serious look at how Obama got this far in the first place.

  13. First of all, the Iranian “election” is not an election and the media should stop referring to it as such.
I actually agree with Obama being non-existent on this issue.
It’s only a matter of days before the Iranians commit a Tiannamen-style massacre. The hesitation so far is all about the mullahs getting the ammunition ready.

  14. RW – I don’t think you understand what is meant by ‘control’.
Obama isn’t in control of Washington; he has to be in control of his own experience.
His psychological makeup requires that he control who ‘exists’ in his own ‘psychological area’. If he feels that he can’t control you; that you are someone who is not readily manipulated by him, then, you simply don’t exist.
You are thinking of a different type of control, i.e., of someone being able to manage and administer other people, while leaving them be..’other people’. Obama can’t do that.
When I refer to Obama and his need to control, it’s strictly about himself. He lives in a world, a fictional world, not the real world. And he has to control who exists in this world. The only people allowed to ‘enter’ are those who are manipulated by him. He cannot handle anyone who remains a separate individual. He can’t handle criticism or dissent. He can’t handle disagreement. If such appears, then, he’ll try to denigrate you, or ‘fire you’ (as he did with an Inspector General just a few days ago). Or, he’ll ignore you. You don’t exist unless you are his underling.

  15. I have to agree with Ace.
This is not a real election and the problem is that the Iranian people now know this for sure and realize how badly they were fooled. I think this is going to lead to real change and any American involvement could stifle this change and I think that Obama realizes this. None of these Iranian candidates are exactly pro-American and I think their policies would be very similar towards America. I think that Obama is doing the right thing here.

  16. NO matter what happened decades ago between the US and Iran I’m sure that Obummer can rectify all by apologizing to Iran for the support given to the Shah of Iran.
Ya, I’m thinking that should do it. That should cause them to stop the nuclear thing and overturn the election result.
Another absolutely awesome accomplishment by the big ZERO!

  17. Well, I m torn about it. I would have liked Obama to take a stronger, more substantial, stance.
But then again, this is Iran. Iran has a history of externalizing its problems, usually by pointing to some outside hand. If Obama backs the protesters, he becomes the ‘outside hand’ and effectively delegitimizes the protest movement in the eyes of those who have, so far, remained uninvolved. The protesters could yet gain support from the proverbial undecideds, but the moment Obama takes the side of the protesters, they lose a lot of their legitimacy in the eyes of the Iranians. The protesters want a new Iran, but they do not want to be seen as American ‘stooges’ (I really like that word).
I wonder what would happen if Obama declared he and the Ayatollah had a secret agreement whereby he props up the Ayatollah to make life for Saudi Arabia difficult. I m almost willing to be it would throw the Iranian ruling classes into a tizzy. Its a pity the house of Saud has so much bipartisan support in the US.

  18. I knew that.
It’s not like I don’t know anything about computers or something.
    Not even.

  19. President Obama can solve the Iran debacle by the only act he knows. He will give a speach.. follow me out of the darkness into the light moving forward for up is not down and blah blah..
