Heh. (Thanks, Lorrie)

I've also used your "pray for an asteroid" quote as one of my favourites on Facebook (fully attributed to you, of course).

Excellent article, as usual, by Lorrie Goldstein. From the piece:

Problem is, Spain lost at least 2.2 jobs in other sectors of the economy for every "green" job government spending created and only one in 10 of those jobs is permanent... The estimated cost to taxpayers for every "green" job created was 571,138 euros or over $900,000 Canadian.

Think of that the next time an enviro-nut demagogue promises "green job creation" as justification for crippling carbon taxes. Obama, dion, layton, ignatieff, gore, suzuki... all wailing from the same hymn book of socialism and economic ruin.

"India Rejects Calls For Emission Cuts: Officials Say Growth Will Be Compromised"

OT, Have you seen this yet Kate? It will be worth your time.

Why vote for Cap and Trade only? when the BC Liberals are doing both!

Suzuki is voting his conscience, because he lost his mind years ago.

Carbon Tax for the People and Cap and trade via the WCI for the business sector, like Forestry that is booming(NOT).

SMACKDOWN !!

Maybe they should shoot Global Waming Protester fools, instead of the actual bears.

"cap and trade has little impact on carbon emissions"

Yes, but it has a big impact in other areas:

Make Chairman Mo wallet very big!

Now if taliban Jack and yapsalot Libby could begin to comprehend let alone fully understand exactly the consequences to the nation's economy what Lorrie Goldstein has laid out in the piece on Cap'N'trade they might reconsider their position.

Why choose? Can't they have both?

Were I a BC Lib, I might spin this situation as the BC NDP in lock-step with PMSH.

Jim R at April 16, 2009 2:26 PM Thank-you! That was awesome!

I'm glad someone in the Kanukistani MSM is saying what has to be said about taxing CO2...at the bureaucratic level this amounts to nothing more than a wealth tranfer extorted from private individuals to government with no net effect on the environment.

Regardless of the factAGW and GHG science is either in dispute or been proven fraudulent, governments are still in love with the idea they can tax at this very personal level and get away with it.

Think for a second...taxing a gas you emit from respiration is a defacto tax to breath...it is a sin tax for breathing...you are taxed to exist because you turn air into CO2..it's a tax to use the air (atmosphere).....and if they get away with it they will tax your consumption of other primal life sustaining natural commodities.

I would expect torches rope and boiling tar to have met this type of draconian taxing power just 50 years ago, but the Canadian people have been beaten down and numbed so greatly all they give a feeble bleat then go back to chewing their cud.

Not much to choose from when your choice is BC Liberals or BC NDP.

There are a handful of Conservative candidates running, unfortunately not in my riding. I will be rejecting my ballot.

If only government was interested in our well being... The things would have gone in slightly different direction.

For example, instead of worrying about CO2, a naturally occurring substance in the atmosphere, which increased concentration affects virtually nothing, they could start worrying about water and air pollution and land contamination with things much nastier.

Take for example, glorious Peel district in infamous Ontario. Almost simultaneously it implemented two changes: water and wastewater surcharge 'for combating global warming' and abandoning of mandatory separation of plastic and paper waste. Don't try to tell me that it could be more efficient to pay someone tax money to sort garbage instead of having the residents sort it for free.

But there is something much more global about garbage, something which you can witness everywhere in Canada: indiscriminate destruction of everything put at the curb under hydraulic press of the garbage trucks. They crush everything: wooden and steel furniture, electric appliances, electronics, light fixtures, bicycles, lawnmowers, BBQs - you name it.

Tons and tons of copper, aluminum, brass, steel, plastics are turned into greasy mass and shoved into the landfills along with lead, tin, arsenic, cadmium, mercury and whole lot of other pollutants. Don't try to tell me that it's more efficient to produce those from ore!

But our beloved government is surprisingly silent about that waste of resources and associated water, air and land pollution. They will rape your business for leaking a cup of electrolyte into the drainage, or regulate hunting our of existence, despite those contributing a ton or two of lead contamination country wide. But the same government shuts their eyes at the wheel weights dropped by the vehicles every second as I am typing that, which contributes 1 lb a mile every week on average according to my calculation. That's thousands of tons of lead leaking into the drainage and dusting the air.

Government, get out of my face with all your davidsuzuki ads, fluorescent bulbs and taxes. You have no credibility whatsoever.

The single greatest crime against humanity is today's environmental fascist movement. The degree of suffering these people are causing to the world's poor is truly criminal. This all to feed the ego and wallets of Al Gore and Suzuki and their minions.
If they get their way the cost for the poor to survive in this world will become intolerable.
God I detest these people.

Hey, cool- Kate gets honorably mentioned in the Big Media!

See, folks, the Big Media reads the blogs. And they like Kate McMillan's stuff.

And sometimes they actually indicate as much!

Watch Kate rise as poor little Warren K. falls...

Here's a virtual pat on the back, Kate. :)

The fascist/nationalsocialist commissars/gauleiters from the "National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy, a panel of business leaders and environmentalists*," has identified The Enemy:

... and, it is YOU.

Go there and see the smoke stacks belching.

This enviro/agit green propaganda is paid for by your taxes/pocketbook.

Down with The "Roundtable".

Our Enemy, The State.

Pondering what I'm going to do in the BC election given the choice between the pneumocephalic lieberals and the BC communist party. When I lived in Vancouver at least I had the option of voting Libertarian or Marijuana party but the interior of BC doesn't have as much choice in candidates.

The only solution I see in BC is for the interior of the province to join with Alberta and leave the coastal moonbats behind. The line of sanity would probably be somewhere between Surrey and Abbotsford.

There seems to be a widespread kookiness on the coast that affects everything. The Worthless Commie Bastards (WCB) in BC have come up with multiple idiotic rulings that have more to do with ideology than workplace safety. For example, one now has to prepay for gasoline to reduce the risk of gas station attendants being dragged behind cars and, most recently, have mandated that hospitals use "safety" syringes. These are complicated gadgets which at least triple the amount of biomedical waste that is generated without any effect on safety. Of course it also increases cost to doctors because of the increased amount of plastic that is needed and when one throws carbon taxes on top of that I'll think about going back to autoclavable glass syringes. Of course I'll save the dull needles for politicians if I ever do see any in my office.

I kind of like Victoria so I'm not hoping for an asteroid, but a neutron bomb near the legislature would leave most of the vegetation untouched.

don't spoil your ballots or waste them voting BC Conservative.

This election is between the Right and Left and if you don't vote BC Liberal - yes I know the name sucks, we will end up with the BC NDP - and never has a party been more afflicted with commies, moonbats, rent seekers and whackos than the BC NDP.

If they get in power, we will be truly fek'd over and under.

Yeah Fred, but right now it feels like the choice is between the left and the further left. Both choices suck. I don't want to give Gordo a pat on the back for the carbon tax, which he plans on TRIPLING soon.

It sucks.

"but right now it feels like the choice is between the left and the further left."

You've got that right Soccermom.

Gordo will assume if he wins the election, we have given him our blessing on the carbon tax. I think I'll throw up the first time I hear him say "BC Voters have spoken and have said Yes to the carbon tax".

Which he will say.

I don't think it matters. After the owelympics there won't be enough money left to tax for anything else.

Campbell's Liberals lost my vote because of his phoney tax to "battle" a phoney "crisis".
I can't bring myself to vote ndp so if there is no BC Conservative Party candidate in my riding I'll just stay home on voting day.
Way to go Gordo. Moron.

I think I will have to move to Alberta or Saskatchewan, I can't take Campbell anymore, I think he has gone way off of the deep end, mentally unstable, he jumps from one pseudo religious cause to the next, the man is a lunatic. Then there's the prospect of having the NDP in power again, scary.

the americans jumped on the bandwagon today by saying co2 is a gas that is dangerous to the health of it's citizens. carry on.

There four of us running for Reform BC, (the origional Reform started by Ron Gamble) that grew in the the federal Reform. I am the reform Bc candidate in Maple Ridge-Mission so some of us have a candidate to vote for!

Ian

Holding my nose and voting BC Liberal......and I agree with ALL your assessments.

But, and this is important, the choice is either split the vote, and allow the communists into government. This is what happened in 1996, when Glenocchio got elected, despite losing the popular vote to the Libs. The BCReform split the vote.....look at the Greens. These nutcases have largely split from the NDP side, allowing the Liberals to maintain power. And they are zealous enough to stick around for years (thank goodness).

And while I am also a firm believer in the fraud of AGW, mainstream political parties are playing the game to attract votes, especially to the simple minded. Whether you call them carbon taxes or cap and trade systems, they both reach into our pockets, and we can all agree that that isn't kosher.

Can you imagine though, on second thought, you don't have to imagine, radical environuts are not opposing the 'business' party because they have a simple (ineffective) carbon tax, and are battling with their traditional friends, the NDP. Funny how Dr Fruit Fly is keeping a non-profile in the election, but the Witch of the Woods came out of hiding to berate Negative Carole......fun, fun, fun! This is how easy the loony left is bought off.

All we can hope for in the long run, is that this is Campbell's last election, and that the new leader will wipe out the carbon tax, and put Barry Penner out to pasture. He is the nutcase in the background, the true zealot who has Campbell's ear.......

No sooner than I typed it, the Fruit Fly came out of his diesel spewing CO2 polluter, and took a swipe at Negative Carole........fun, fun, fun......to watch these two wack jobs go at each other if great theatre....
