Wild Kingdom

In one of nature's classic confrontations, a lion and jackal face off over a carcass.

In another, wilder, kingdom, Minuteman Madrid went hunting for her championship title this weekend and attained that, along with two group first wins.

I hope you enjoyed your weekend away from the computer as much as I did. Normal blogging will resume tomorrow.

Congratulations and Happy Easter, Kate.

Bravo Zulu, Minuteman Madrid.

Congrants Kate

I, also, will say congrats.

Even though I have not understood the ranking system your pups are scored in. Other than that first is generally a good thing!! LOL

Seriously though Kate, is there a link somewhere to explain the whole thing?

Looks like the jackal is winning.

This is probably more complete than you need, but it's well done.

Just one question Kate, what is that "carcass" these two ferocious looking beasts are facing off over?
From here it looks like a dead frog or something.
Wait for the outrage from the petatards...

On a related note, I had the distinct misfortune of finding myself in a debate(?) with one of the local petatards recently. She claimed that her single goal in life was to never use any product that was made from any part of any living animal. And she mean't food, clothing, everything.
I asked her about edible oil products, plastics or any other product sythesized from petroleum.
She said those are okay, as they are not animal products silly...
Then I (somewhat gleefully) pointed out that petroleum is made from dead dinosours...formerly living, breathing, thinking, animals.
Just. Like. Us. (or like her anyway)
...
When I lost saw her she was weeping.

"she was weeping"

Riii-iight.

Well, after reading that Kate, I appreciate all the more that I picked paintball as my passtime!

Much more simple. Paint on me - bad. Paint on the other guy - good.

Seriously though, thanks for the link. Had an aunt who bred and showed Golden Retrievers and never really understood what was going on when I would go to a show.

You should put up a pic Kate. Congrats by the way.

It's a tablespoon of canned dog food. :)

Congrats on another Champ, Kate.
We've been begging for pictures for awhile. That puppy pen is just a teaser...how about some champs?

Whew! I thought that 'jackal' link was going to be a picture of WK and Shaidle going at it, over a dead cat!

My scanner went on strike, so no pics for a few days at the earliest.

Congrats Kate.
BTW, I find it awfully hard picturing you in Best of Show as depicted in the movie, which I'm told was VERY accurate, even by a dog-breeding customer!
You are clearly not whacky!

bethesda guy: "Then I (somewhat gleefully) pointed out that petroleum is made from dead dinosours...formerly living, breathing, thinking, animals".
Oh, come on now! If that's what you really believe, I'm sure there's a place for you somewhere in the Al Gore/David Suzkooky loony farm. In all my years of disposing of a myriad of 'expired' animals, I've yet to see an ounce of resultant crude oil, or anything remotely similar.
Now why might dinosaurs be different, let alone in pockets where trillions of barrels of the stuff could accumulate? Just think about it for a sec, people!!
More and more of the scientific community are espousing the theory that oil is a naturally occurring (and recurring) geological product of this earth, but such a thesis meets the usual public, greenie and academic skepticism. Much like the global warming BS, once engrained, it becomes a non-desputable fact, and thus difficult to dislodge. These alternative proponents also face the same type of ridicule from the mainstream when advancing their theories, and hence, many prefer to remain silent.
An offbeat question: 'Does crude oil carry any identifiable DNA?'

Snagglepuss
Yes the current serious thinking is that petroleum is a mineral....period and not organic...
That said........
bethesda guy clearly illustrated the boundless ignorance and blind implacable faith of the petetard/tree hugger/agw alarmist followers.

That's a much better looking jackal than the last (lying) one I saw.

What? The notorious "cat hater" Kate has a cat? Aren't you the one who advocated letting cats dies in trees rather than rescue them??! I cry every time I see a cat skeleton in a tree and remember your cruel words.

The woman that sold VP Biden a puppy is getting death threats. Can we put PETA in a pound?

Brava, Kate!

I didn't expect anything as riveting as bluetech's scenario. The picture was a surprise though: a very enjoyable laugh!

Congrats!
you two looked great in the ring together
