So I wrote an email back to [the Current's Kristin Nelson] and said I’d be happy to be on their show. I also gave her kudos for inviting me despite my public criticism of their earlier programme. And I expressed my surprise that their host had repeatedly gone over the same old chestnut about the Alcoa thing when their producer was fully aware of the fact that it was false.
And guess what? - I never heard from her again.

Nothing from the CBC(Pravda) surprises me anymore. The fact one of their programs would go out of their way to spin and manipulate what could have otherwise been an interesting and lighthearted piece on Icelandic folklore demonstrates they can have no credibility on weightier issues, politics for example.
Fire. Them. All.

Like most curious folk I have from time to time done a bit of reading up on Iceland.
Geographically, culturally and ethnically a venerable part of Europe and yet geographically very separate. It could be justified that despite Christianity arriving, with a vengeance, a millenium ago, Iceland was one of the last real refuges of the Viking culture.
The other remarkable thing is that a millenium back Iceland was THE MOST VIOLENT society in all europe (probably because all the homicidals fled there) and yet today is probably the least violent. An interesting evolution.
Europe like Iceland has a plethera of fascinating folklore....My dad came from Kent, England and had tales of "witches" moving a church......among other things......

go on public record denying any widespread belief in elves, only leads to one possible conclusion:

Icelanders are a mix of mostly Viking/Scandanavian and Irish. The Irish were the slaves the Vikings brought with them to Iceland 1000 years ago. And yes in some parts of IceLand the belief in elves is strong. Elves knolls trolls and other stuff is from old Norse folk lore. The term Asatru became official when the religion was recognized by the Icelandic government in 1972 at the urging of the poet, Sveinbjorn Beinteinsson.

'Same old, same old with the CBC. I know of countless people who have been hung out to dry in interviews by the Mother Corpse, myself included. If you don't play their game, they either cut you out altogether or mangle the material so badly that you come out looking like a neanderthal idiot -- their intention, of course.

Yesterday in Calgary, one of CBC Radio's big news items was a story about a nursing mother protesting a "human rights violation" because lifeguards were asking her not to nurse her 18 mo. old daughter in the kiddie pool at a local public swimming pool. She wanted them to show her a written policy stating where this was not allowed. This was followed by a sound clip from a clearly flustered city official. Apparently such an important story merited a personal interview on the morning show, followed by hourly repeats on the "news" all day.
At least they gave the 1600 dead ducks at Fort Mac story a rest.

Free - in a way the tax revolt is already happening. Nobody listens to CBC (verry boring) when you can find real entertainment in the news (Fox News is informative AND entertaining). Because people (even the loyal Commies) get a blank if they get no responses except fervent agreement from their self same cheap Bolsheviks, the advertisers stopped advertising on a channel nobody watches.
The Conservatives did not cut the funding of Mother corpse, their advertisers did!
