I believe that today for the first time since February, the daily high temperature in Edmonton matched the long term average. If I am correct, we have had over a month of below average temperatures.
Didn't the AGW folks tell us that the central plains of N. America would become a new dust bowl and that winter sports would disappear? I'm curious how this evidence of global cooling will be blamed on global warming; oops I should use the new politically correct term that covers all bases: climate change.
Remember that global warming means more snow, and less snow, and warming, and cooling, and more earthquakes.
Global warming means whatever the current weather is - because the current weather is (of course) due to global warming. Scientists who believe in catastrophic global warming agree that there is a consensus amongst like-minded individuals.
BTW - once the ice plug in Lake Winnipeg goes away there will be no flooding.
See? Another benefit to glowball warming.
Another downsie though .... more snow in Sierras means more fresh water for Kalifornia. This means they get to postpone building desalination plants....I was so hoping to see them build huge desalination plants powered by wind and sun.
Too bad the water can't rise fast enough!
But maybe that's what the earthquakes are for?
And if they run out of apocalypsey stories .... just turn on Learning TV ... Science ... Giant Meteors Exploding in the atmosphere could have caused massive firestorms that wiped out dinosaurs and led to ice age.
Deep thought offered by program producers ...... We might not be able to do anything if it happens again!!
Winter is the season for earthquakes.
More occur in winter than in summer.
Some people guess that it is the extra weight of the snow and ice on the ground/water.
My guess is because winter is when the Sun is closest to us - ie gravitational forces at work.
And plus the weight of the snow.
And then add in the fact that the cg (centre of gravity) of the moon/earth axis is 1700 kms below the earth's surface and moving constantly with the moon, it all adds up.
And many people also attribute earthquakes to the phases of the moon.
Partly because of the moon gravitational pull that causes tides to change, ie causes weight distribution to shift.
In fact, some almanacs even list the most likely times of EQ occurences for a given month.
It may even cause volcanos to erupt, though I have never read anywhere that there is more volcanic activity in the winter than in the summer months.
Did everybody catch the doomsday headlines about the Antarctic Ice Shelf Shattering, Hilary Clinton on TV saying we have to do something immediately, because it's all caused by Glo-Bull Warming?

Why this blog? Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice
of an ordinary Canadian
yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I can't answer or use every
tip, but all are
appreciated!

Hi Kate... No link...
The link on the map is broken -- looks like you are missing the opening tag for the anchor.
Don't think the link works Kate.
Kate, don't you know it's the excess cow and dinosaur farts being blown down by the jet stream from Alberta that are causing this?
come back el nino...please

I got a niece who works for the Sierra Club, she was bragging how they helped shutdown a coal plant.
When asked how many lost their jobs she said they should have thought about that before working there. I tell ya, if she wasn't kin , why I'd, I'd !!!
Ratt
Ask her how many people she think she has killed becuase they won't be able to run their A/C in the summer or heat in the winter.

Just shovelled 8 inches of snow off the driveway...2 hours north of Toronto.

More earthquakes? Why? Splain, please.
Does not matter .... all glowball warming caused.

Fascinating subject.
