From Jim Henshaw:
"For the most part, I’m still a shit-kicker from the poorest area of Saskatchewan. A red-neck. A Hillbilly from a land without hills. “Hill William” as we would re-coin the term at the University of Saskatchewan since we were now “edumacated”. Life, luck and perhaps some talent led me to work in the Canadian Arts, travel the world to hone my skills and receive validation at my craft through success in America."

If you'd like to show your grandchildren the pathetic media bias in the Year 2009, bookmark this video for all time.
Wow. Robert. Just.... wow. I can only watch it once.
When the fellow with the child is speaking -- "Lincoln believed that people had the right to share in the fruits of their own labour, and that government should not take it" -- she points her finger at him and cuts him off:
"Riiight!! Did you know that the state of Lincoln gets 50 billion dollars out of the stimulus? That's 50 billion dollars to the state, sir!"
And, uh, where the hell does she think that fifty billion dollars is coming from? Duh-uh.
As Andrew Klavan said, "'Shut Up' is on the march." It's a bit disturbing to see a mainstream media reporter picking up The One's cues and openly campaigning for Shut Up.
Asimov was probably right, "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent". "Shut up!" is the second-to-last, although both tactics are now being used (depending on the level of fanaticism/boredom) in a two-pronged attack.
There's a "State of Lincoln" now? Is that one of the 57 Obama earlier referred to?
Other states might be: the state of perpetual debt, the state of unrest, the state of disillusionment, the state of...well, you get what I'm going on about.
"she points her finger at him and cuts him off"
How do you suppose we arrived at this point folks?
EBD, you are right to say "Wow!" That video clip should be a Monty Python wet fish smacked across the face 'Wow'.
Susan Roesgen is NOT a reporter. She's a "prime example" (to borrow a term from the equally corrupt anchor) of how "journalists" have given up any semblance of impartiality and instead are just de facto spokespeople for the Obama Administration.
I do hope that YouTube lasts for a long, long time because videos like this will be prime exhibits for historians to document the corruption and downfall of the once honorable profession of journalism.
Side note: Dennis Miller posited a theory today that the attacks on CNN against Fox News and conservatives are now so widespread and constant that an internal memo has gone out to do it. The fact is that CNN's rating are dismal compared to Fox News and as a business, they're getting very desperate.
But make no mistake, none of that excuses Roesgen's behavior! Saturday Night Live should do a spoof of her back in 1776, asking the citizens of the colonies why they were revolting. "After all, the King of England has given you so much!"
"The state of Lincoln" could well be just another way of saying "Illinois".
Other than that point, the behaviour of the alleged "reporter" is appalling.
Here's a link to something that has absolutely nothing to do with governments, global warming, rampant deficit spending, strife, corruption or political ideology. In its own way, it transcends all of that: it's the story of human spirit, and in having the courage to stand up for one's dream and belief in oneself in the face of almost certain opposition and general ridicule. It's easy to pass over stories like this when you're debating and ofttimes taking each other to task on this or that issue, and you miss other things in life that are important; so it is with me, anyway.
I have watched this clip several times, today, and each time it has brought a tear to my eye, leaving a rather incredible feeling in its wake. I have shown it to my children, sharing the absolute life lesson that you can never truly judge people by appearances, and that everyone has within them some incredible gift they need to find, and share with others for the greater good. I hesitated posting on SDA considering the venue of the link, and feared if I'd come off as a simple, sentimental clod, but it just doesn't matter; apparently, at current count, some 17 million other folks may agree with me. I think for one to observe the "before" and "after" reactions of the audience and judges, particularly at the 3:20 crescendo, and not feel something inside would honestly require a heart of stone.
I hope all of you enjoy this clip of Susan Boyle as much as I. Associated article and comments - well written and heartfelt, all - are found here.

Thanks mhb, I love these kind of stories. Imagine the courage it took to go through with this. Here's the male version from a couple of years ago who's now a star. Same reaction from the audience and the judges...

Thanks for that mhb!
I saw some posts at Right Girl about her and never thought to actually read them or take a look.
The expression on Simon's face at about the third word out of her mouth was priceless!
mhb - Susan Boyle's wonderful. She seems lovely and I love her voice.
Piers Morgan only exists to make Simon Cowell look like a human being, by contrast. Fails.

by Theodore Dalrymple (April 2009)
A recent Dutch visitor to my house in France was observant enough to notice that I disliked wasting food. He told me that he was very much of the same mind.
It occurred to me then to try to find the cause and justification of our dislike of such waste. Where did it, this dislike, come from? What reason could we give for it? (These are not the same questions, of course.)"

Controversy dogs museum
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is set to tackle the thorny issue of whose story to include and whose to leave out -- a process that is causing controversy before it's even begun.
Construction of the $265-million project in Winnipeg is now underway and the museum will soon announce a cross-country "story gathering process."
"We will be talking to community groups, individuals, academics and researchers, to really start identifying what the stories are, and who the storytellers are as well," said museum spokeswoman Angela Cassie.
But some groups are already raising concerns their stories will be excluded."

"PA officials scandalized at disclosure by Abbas's son of vast personal fortune
Yasser Abbas, the son of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, revealed this week that he's a self-made millionaire who started his own business shortly after the signing of the Oslo Accords.
In an interview with the Dubai-based Al-Aswak.net economic magazine, Abbas's son, who was named after former PA leader Yasser Arafat, also declared that "a majority of Palestinians," including himself, "collaborate with Israel."
Yasser Abbas's remarks raised many eyebrows in Ramallah, where one PA official described the interview as "scandalous and harmful."
"It would have been better if Yasser did not speak out, especially about his wealth," the official told The Jerusalem Post. "His comments have embarrassed the Palestinian leadership."
In the interview, the first of its kind, the 46-year-old Yasser, who is a Canadian national, claimed that 25 percent of his income went to the PA budget. In return, he said, the PA government had never offered him so much as a free airline ticket or one pill of Aspirin for his daughter.
He revealed that the PA owed him a lot of money, but that he was unable to use his influence and status to collect the debt as he wished to avoid being accused of exploiting his father's position.
"I worked very hard to collect my fortune," he said. "I became wealthy before my father was elected president and I will continue to do business after his term in office expires.""

CNN's Susan Roesgen went nuts on the air Wednesday at a Chicago tea party, blaming everything (accurately) on Fox News. But maybe she was angry because Fox turned her down for a job—twice!

"Federal Liberal finance critic John McCallum admits he “said the wrong thing without thinking” when he inaccurately told a Windsor Star reporter that he owned a North American-built car.
McCallum, a former minister of defence, veterans affairs, natural resources and national revenue, was in town Tuesday to speak at the annual general meeting of the Windsor-Tecumseh Liberal riding association.
After telling reporters that a Liberal government would have sounder and more aggressive economic policies than the Conservative government, McCallum, who arrived at the gathering as a passenger in a VW Jetta, was asked what kind of car he drove.
McCallum stammered for several seconds before responding: “I drive a North American-made car.” Asked to be more specific, he responded: “I drive a General Motors car.” Asked again to be more specific, he said it was “a Chevrolet.”
McCallum phoned The Star about an hour later to retreat from those comments, offering this explanation in a voicemail: “I said the wrong thing without thinking. The fact of the matter is that I do not own a North American-made car.”
He followed with an e-mail sent from his Blackberry that said: “To confirm message I left on your voicemail, to clarify, I do not own a North American made vehicle.”
McCallum never divulged what kind of car he owns."

Media Love in with Iggy continues
Michael Ignatieff has 'Big' vision for Canada
ctv.ca april 17/2009
Why is no one from the Conservative Party of Canada questioning the CBC and their motives in the Schreiber-Mulroney affair that led to the Oliphant inquest?? Since 1995--the CBC's "Fifth Estate" has devoted nine entire programs to this topic, not to mention millions of tax dollars.
How about an inquest into the CBC amnd their spending?? How about the CBC's political affiliations?
I don't want to sound negative--but playing on the internet and making wisecracks about Iggy and Obama will not win the next federal election. We as Conservatives need to get to work and expose all truths and facts! From the onset, the Mulroney-Schreiber incident has cost us more votes than any other event in Canada's history! Trust me!!
Spengler, a.k.a. David P. Goldman, Demographics & Depression
Three generations of economists immersed themselves in study of the Great Depression, determined to prevent a recurrence of the awful events of the 1930s. And as our current financial crisis began to unfold in 2008, policymakers did everything that those economists prescribed...
In other words, the government tried to do everything right, but everything continues to go wrong. We labored hard and traveled long to avoid a new depression, but one seems to have found us, nonetheless...
On the reason for tax hikes...

Michael Ignatieff wants Canadians to think big.
High-speed rail links between major cities. An east-west electricity corridor. Completion of a coast-to-coast, four-lane national highway system.
Even a national energy strategy (Not to be confused with the hated National Energy Program, he stresses).
Those are just some of the bold -- and pricey -- ideas the Liberal leader is advancing as visionary, nation-building projects that could help bind the country together in the 21st Century.

And major action on water clean-up and preservation, inclduing cleaning up the Great lakes - and Lake Winnipeg (7 million over 2 years), cleaning up ocean coasts, 39 million over 2 years for fisheries management and conservation and so on.
The thing is, all these agendas aren't publicized in our MSM.

I think that one of Susan Roesgen's cousins lives in Canada. His name is Chris Parry and he works for CanWest. Here you can read his hack piece.

"The White House asked Georgetown to cover a monogram symbolizing Jesus' name in Gaston Hall, which Obama used for his speech, according to CNSNews.com.
The gold "IHS" monogram inscribed on a pediment in the hall was covered over by a piece of black-painted plywood, and remained covered over the next day, CNSNews.com reported."
http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Jesus-Missing-From-Obamas-Georgetown-Speech.html
By the way, yesterday, prior to Obama and the Mexican President's public speeches, CNN had an expert on, talking about the gun control situation at the US-Mexican border.
This individual, whose name as usual escapes me, was an expert in the border area, and in the gun control issue. He said that the assertion that "90% of the guns used in Mexico come from the USA" was absolutely incorrect.
He told CNN that he knew where that data came from; it came from a report talking about shipments from elsewhere in Central America, to Mexico, to the US - and then, caught - and that these guns had no 'code' while guns in the US do have them. He said that the actual ratio of guns to Mexico from the US was only about 10%.
Then, half an hour later, both Obama and the Mexican president asserted with confidence, that '90% of the guns in Mexico come from the USA".
This ..just after a report on CNN, by an expert, who said that this was an invalid statistic, based on a particular item about shipments.
JackFrosst,wow,9 shows !! I didn't think it was that bad. I wonder if they would disclose their costs if asked under the freedom of info act. On a related note, cbc covered the last leadership convention with a complete news crew and 12 hours a day coverage. The upcoming one will likely get the same, maybe more,as cbc does their low-down best to present Iggy as the white Obama.

Re: "The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is set to tackle the thorny issue of whose story to include and whose to leave out -- a process that is causing controversy before it's even begun."
"But some groups are already raising concerns their stories will be excluded."
I just pray they don't start killing each other over whose story is better than whose. That would make "human rights" look pretty bad, wouldn't it?
Re: "Michael Ignatieff has 'Big' vision for Canada ... visionary, nation-building projects that could help bind the country together in the 21st Century" [I spliced two different posts]
The reason I thought Liberal imbecile Ken Dryden was so dangerous to Canada was his constant vague references to "bigness". The ultimate result of a platform like this is big poverty and big bankruptcy. Dryden was the worst of all the Liberals, he had no policies, no principles, and no brains (and no personality, come to think of it). I trust he has no prospects. As a politician, he was a great goalie. Let's hope Ignatieff is smarter than that. Leave the "visions" to Nostradamus.
As for "nation-building", it's an anti-concept that really means "socialism-building".
