"the Gray Lady posted a wider-than-expected, first-quarter loss of $74.5 million amid worsening advertising declines," and why that's a good thing.

Is the merciful end near for these losers? Will Obama bail out the chief mouthpiece of his twisted world view?

Recession can have a certain cleansing effect. And I agree with breaking up this absurd self-inflicted conformity that pervades the liberal MSM. If the NY Times goes down, and other news outlets start thinking for themselves, it could start a trend. Who knows, Reuters and AP could go next. There's always hope.

The news isn't entirely good. "Senator John Kerry aims to rescue newspapers"-Washington Post.

I smell a bailout coming. The Democrats won't want to lose a major chunk of their Ministry of Propaganda, such as the New York Times (which owns the Boston Globe, the International Herald Tribune and 13 other leftist rags.)

Lets all sing together...So long it's been (almost)
good to know you!
Here's hoping!

More of the scum... and faster please!

The tea parties are going to get really good if these subsidized losers show up on our dime.

ohh thank god it is almost over.

The pathetic rag is almost dead.

Perfect.

I suppose SDA Pravda is going to pick up the 'slack' when The NYT folds. Reporting all the news that's fit to be told devoid of a left-right slant. Hey Kate let's face the truth that all your topics present only the facts and nothing more.

[sarc off]

I can understand why you added the [sarc off], nse.
You guys wouldn't know a fact if it bit your butt.
Feelings,,,,O

My guess: the health and diversity of journalism were a lot better in the days before the j-schools were established at those institutions which are the opposite of diversity.

the best part:

"On top of that, the company finds itself on the hook for a $625 million shortfall in its pension and benefit obligations, and could be forced to spend millions to shore it up starting next year."

So after all the years of screwing with the truth, one sided reporting etc, the fools that did it will get screwed over in their forced retirement. Couldn't happen to nicer useful idiots.

They will be prime contenders for the "Ken Lewenza I'm Really Stupid Award".

Not rain on everyone's parade but is the newspaper going bankrupt because of too much debt or not enough demand? If it's because of too much debt, someone will buy the assets out of bankruptcy and the paper will survive.

I'm with Dave here. Obama is bailing out everybody and their dog these days, and I don't see his administration allowing one of the main DemocRat mouthpieces going under.

MAD (mutually assured destruction)at its best. Stupid management of the MSM hiring stupid people to write and say stupid things that get get stupid people elected who turn around and destroy the economy which destroys ad revenue. Full circle. There's hope after all.

The Flight NYT 666 just saw it's altimeter hit zero feet above sea level. If it is still flying then it must be aloft in DEATH Valley.

maybe we could start a plan for them (NYT) to inherit the TO star and the glob and mal, so they may also die?????

It's amazing - Pravda and Izvestia hardly equalled the NYT and CNN in toadying to their masters, not even in the heyday of Stalin - and at least Pravda and Izvestia had the excuse that their people would be shot if they didn't exalt Stalin enough.

As for the Blubb and Wail - it's getting thinner every day!

The Bigger the Lost = The Bigger The Stimulus.

And that's a winning formula in Obamamerica.
