"Saving the New York Times," [New York Times executive editor] Keller said, "now ranks with saving Darfur as a high-minded cause."

"Saving the New York Times," [New York Times executive editor] Keller said, "now ranks with saving Darfur as a high-minded cause."
And about as likely to be a successful one?
What a disgusting statement! Up until now, I couldn't care less about the fortunes of the NYT. Now, after reading their executive director make a statement which, in effect says, "Allowing the NYT to sink would be as evil as allowing mass genocide to take place in Darfur" I sincerely hope the NYT goes under.
*
two words... "inmates"... "asylum".

Good lord. A truly appalling comment. If karma exists, the NYT will fold on the basis of this disgusting comment alone.
I find the statement to be eerily accurate. I give about as much of a sh@t about the NYT as I do about Darfur. Couldn't care less if either, or both, slid into the ocean.
"If you're inclined to trust Google as your source for news -- Google yourself."
I just found more reliable information about myself and others of the same name than the NYT would ever publish. . . Did he have a point here?
Besides George Soros and Team Obama and the Dems that need the old print hag to carry water for them I'd love Keller to cough up that list of those willing donors. The liberal funding greed barrons on Wall Street have taken a big hit so I don't see fat donor checks in the Time's future.
Only an arrogant vacuous NYT's twit like Keller would have audacity to suggest that there is a moral equivalence between the genocide in Darfur and the death of a failing newspaper business. The man is a moral degenerate for even uttering that. He really speaks to the culture of that rotten organization. Ir can't die fast enough.
Rush will end up owning the Paper.
Check out the very first comment on the article.
"I suppose that's a good analogy. Nobody really gives a crap about Darfur either."
Neil McDonald had a piece on the CBC about how important newspapers are if anyone's interested.
Wasn't it Madonna who brought our attention to Darfur....must admit never heard of the place until she made it her pet cause. I still do not know what the contoversy aor cause is, just tht Madonna thinks it important.
I find the statement to be eerily accurate. I give about as much of a sh@t about the NYT as I do about Darfur. Couldn't care less if either, or both, slid into the ocean.

Thank you. Now I don't have to be the bad guy.
He wasn't saying that as a comment about his own deeply held belief. He was remarking on how he understands the values of NYT supporters.
Let's see; what's wrong with this photo of a young boy on a horse? Looks like an expensive saddle and tack and on an Arabian. Must have money. Of course; why didn't I see it right away. He is holding an illegal weapon. Better inform the UN. No wait; call the NYT.
sarge here now that boy on the horse looks good almost as good as the sarge on sarges horse but sarge carries a real milled receiver FAL not some pot mettle bar folded cheap ass AK well that and sarges horse a little more uhm...dare sarge say it statuesque but ya still gota give that boy style points for tryin

With 400,000 dead, 2 million homeless, and villages burned out "Saving Darfur" seems somewhat late doesn't it?
What exactly is to be saved? Why ring the alarm bell now that the villages are razed to the ground?
Seems a little late in the day doesn't it?

But hey its genocide prevention month for April.
April 2003 would have been a good time to ring the alarm bell.
NYT can go online just like the Seattle P-I, no one will really miss it. Its not like a body dropping on your doorstep.
Cheers

On a related note, Chicago's Sun-Times Media has filed for bankruptcy. As Roger Ebert might say "Two thumbs down".
Sudan, let's see... we have a 22 year civil war, a muslim vs christian thing going on, a "Liberation" army, ethnic cleansing and a million or so souls starving to death in the middle. There is no good guys in white hats verses the bd guys in black. All the players have the smell of death on their hands.
It's like trying to walk across an Alberta feedlot in the spring: No matter where you go or try to do, you will end up in sh*t.
The NYT on the other hand, is total BS with the exception of their Sunday crossword.
btw, I thought the Janjawweed were from Tatooine.
No Bill, no it doesn't.
Wow... equating racism-fueled raping and pillaging with the demise of an American newspaper, which, by the way, has been writing itself into oblivion for a decade or more. Is this guy for real?
Try this on for size!
The Paper of Record
The time to "save the times" was 12 years ago when a cadre of silver spoon ideogues, with no journalism in their blood line, took over the masthead of the paper...and turned it into a bull horn fore every flaky political meme nattered about on the champaign socialist country club circuit.
Good luck pugging the holes in the ship the captain put there shooting at his own feet.
This is a "know thine enemy" moment. Saving the NY Times probably -does- rank right up there next to saving Darfur in the ranks of Manhattan Liberals. Who do you think buys this stuff anyway?
That's the kind of people they are. The liberals of NYC are like stone with this stuff. They -do- blame America when two airplanes crash into their tallest buildings and kill people they know. Rednecks in Montana made Al Qaeda do it. Louisiana racists made it happen.
I wish them luck with throwing money down this rat hole. May they all come to ruination. Perhaps in poverty their insane world view will finally get the reality check it needs.
Too true, Phantom. Too true.
I wonder if this will be a "Bigger Than Jesus" type of comment that will finish off the NYT for ever.
From somewhere in the comments at Politico:
The Times betrayed America via Judith Miller and the editors being unabashed cheerleaders for the buildup to the war in Iraq. The Times has also been one of the biggest advocates for capitalism over recent decades. Both the war and capitalism have been disasters for America and the American people. I personally don't care what happens to the Times. Objective research will never die.

Proving that even the most deranged are un-enamoured of the NY Times.
