Lucky They Didn't Call It The Mexican Flu

I believe the word Retard should come back into common usage.

My wife freaks when I use it around the kids.

Let's not forget that stupid can be and is universal, especially when it comes to things like the swine flu.

Just yesterday it was Israel that wanted the flu renamed so it would not be offensive to Jews and Muslims and their whole pig thing. Suggested name? You guessed it, Mexican Flu, because no one would find that offensive right?

The trouble with Islam as an ideology, and all religions are ideologies, is that it has made the grievous error of inserting a clause in that ideology that renders those ideas immune to change.

I don't know how Kate feels about it, but I think Canadian politics is just about irrelevant to most Canadians. When a single province (Qweebec) holds up the political process by guaranteeing no more majority governments while only representing the people of one province, in the national capital ... then that parliament is irrelevant.

Nothing major can happen or change, so it's all small shit and we don't need to bother keeping our eyes transfixed on the small minds in that venue.

Like most countries, Canada works best when it's parliament is not in session. It work even better if there was no parliament at all.

Doug, we still do not know who the principals are at Newswatch.
My guess is the Headline writers for National Newswatch also toil at Torstar or either Globemedia.

The Rabbi that suggested that this Flu be called "the Mexican Flu" did so because in hebrew the grammer makes it sound like it is a disease that "swine" have. Or worse it sounds like it refers to the people who have it as 'swine". It translates literally to something like "Flu of the swine". In hebrew, it is just easier to call it by a less confusing, less offensive sounding name. It has nothing to do with offending anyone's sensibilities about eating pork or dissing Mexicans.
