LOL....as usual, Kate is right on the money with her analysis!
Robin Sears, Brian Muldoon's spokesperson, says it's not wise to push Muldoon's patience. "At some point, he may feel he has to say something publicly. That's something I hope that those who are thinking about launching another attack think carefully about before they do."
Maybe he'll attack with a handful of empty manilla envlopes...
The Byron Muldoon case: Not dead enough.
Oh wait is isn't dead, merely undead. Can someone PLEASE put this shambling corpse to rest so we don't have to hear about this ancient history that means nothing to 99.9% of Canadians.
Yup.
No frickin' kidding, Kate. It's ridiculous.
If Brian has something to say I wish he would say it. He warned Liberals and said nothing.
As our hostess indicated, this discussion is VERY stale. Almost as stale as discussions about Trudeau
My guess is that this is part of the Liberal Campaign to Regain Power for the Natural Governing Party (NGP). They've really been working very hard at this. Notice, though, that one thing they haven't tried is to develop a set of coherent and principled and feasible policies. No, in true NGP fashion, they've opted for the low, unprincipled road.
First, they tried Dion as, well, as...They tried his Green Shift which they had to hastily abandon because it was essentially a tax grab on the West to fund the East.
They tried to Coalition, which was an unprincipled, undemocratic grab for power. This was a desperate attempt by Dion, Layton, and Duceppe. This failed and they put in Ignatieff, who pretended that he hadn't signed the agreement.
Then, there are all the other dirt-throwing. They tried desperately last year to link Mulrony to Schreiber to Harper. Failed. Now, they are supporting Mulroney and trying to suggest that there's 'dissension' among the CPC. That's a tactic to smear the CPC.
Oh, and of course, they blame Harper for the recesssion, ignoring that one man doesn't cause a global fiscal shift - and they have, of course, no plans for dealing with it.
They are preparing for their May Coronation of Ignatieff and they want to first, set up an image of the CPC as 'internally broken', 'externally weak'..and etc.
Their buddies, our Canadian MSM, are hard at working with the Liberals, with their daily, endless, attacks on Harper. The problem is, they are so bereft of anything to accuse him of, that they actually are reduced to endless sneers, speculation, deep political analysis and etc, at Harper 'missing' a photo session of the G-20.
That's the Liberal Way.
Right. Talk about the "Rip van Winkle" media in a post that links to the Globe.
Without the Rip van Winkle media, you'd have very little to link to.
"Without the Rip van Winkle media, you'd have very little to link to."
Not too high a price to pay, Bourrie.
Hear, hear Kate! Best post of the week. Could there be less inspirition or relevance? Let's have an unleashed Jason Kenney in charge.
Question to other SDAers:
How many think that Harper would have a majority now if he would have played hardball while sticking to and governing with his principles and told Quebec to f-off?
Elizabeth
Better question. How many believe that Harper would have at the very least been much closer to a majority if he hadn't made the bone-headed move to announce a paltry 10 million cut to arts funding. This announcement galvanized the opposition in Quebec and proved to be a huge wedge issue over a relatively small amount of money.I would have said principles be damned let's INCREASE funding to 20-30 million. A lot less damage to the economy in the long term if the Cons could have achieved a majority. The cardinal rule in politics is that an election is no time to announce cuts.
I see that the investigative geniuses at pravda filth estate will be flogging the Mulroney-Schreiber not-dead-enough horse again tomorrow night. For those who feel the need for a deep purge, but don't want a hangover Saturday morning.
http://www.cbc.ca/fifth/
felis - the reason the CBC is focusing on Mulroney is to try to smear Harper and the Conservatives.
They are doing this even though Mulroney is actually NOT a Conservative - the PC's are not the same party as the CPC - and is, politically, socially and fiscally linked to all the big dealers of the Liberal Party.
But, Mulroney is 'called' Conservative and most people don't know about his deep alliances with the Liberal Party Dealers - such as the Quebec Desmarais Party, Power Corp, etc...who are also behind Chretien and Martin.
At the moment, the Liberal agenda is to tie Harper to Mulroney, Bush, the recession and anything else they can think of.
Then, they are going after Quebec as their lynch pin, showing how they are, as always, the party of Ontario and Quebec. And only Ontario and Quebec
And, they want to link Ignatieff to Obama, and the latte government civil service crowd in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver - with such fluff as 'green', and the new peacenik naivete of Obama and crowd.
So far, that seems to be their agenda. Watch them bring it all out in a Smash, when they crown Ignatieff in May.
Well said, Kate and commentators!
CBC Pravda is broke, they say, yet they have had more tax payer charity, under the Conservatives, than they had under their Masters (Liberanos)..the problem is they are getting no revenue from advertising. Why? Because they are drop dead boring (as is CTV). I have made it a rule to never buy anything advertised on Pravda - if I happen to see it - we NEVER watch the boring, depressing, irrellivant, biased, sleazy broadcasts that Canadians bankroll. Fox news offers fair and balanced reporting and it is very relevant to Canada - they are always way ahead of our dunderheads reporting about important things happening - I get all my Canadian news right here at SDA and Kate's posted links. The USA has a radical hard left new President who is putting the free world in a very dangerous place - and the dunderheads at Mother Corps/Pravda are 'questioning' our Prime Minister's relationship with a past PM who catered to Quebec and lost this country to some radical hard left Prime Ministers who robbed from the taxpayers and ran us into debt. That's all.. that is the 'fable'.
If any of those 'reporting' fools wanted something to garner some attention they should look into Adscam and the ties of our former PMs, of the Liberano ilk, to the Oil for food (turned into oil for $$ crime )scandal involving propping up the Dictatorship of Saddam Hussein. That would be interesting and it might render us the recapture of some of the $$ stolen from us during those dark years of the Liberano regimes.
Now let us all pause to say a prayer for that American Sea captain captured by those egregious Somalian terrorists (being covered at Fox News).
Exactly ET
the pm even said it, The liberals wanted him thrown in jail without even a trial, now their acting like there his best buddy.
all for show.
Who was it that got caught in the HOC yelling out, Liberal Murphy? Hang Him bring him here & hang him.
On another note i would like to see another Adscam inquiry started & that is to see Why the Liberals have Not paid back the Missing Monies & while were at it lets get a Shawinigate Inquiry going & an Inquiry why the Liberal Leadership Contenders have not paid back the loans, Time to strike is Now while the govt is in power.
because i would say considering the situation of the Economy the Liberals are going to retake power in the next election.
Don't tell me. He had secret meetings with Grant Devine
ET the Obama comparisons started as soon as the Libs seen he was in for sure, Ever watch Power Play when talking head Martha Hall-Findlay is on she cannot say anything without equating to Obama. I even elated to this awhile back saying that political science students will be inventing a new game, If Obama is mentioned Drink.
But the thing that gets me is that Liberals Stole & stole from the Taxpayers of Canada & we Forgive them!!
WTF if that was a political party in any other realm they would be banished for a very long time. My gawd just look at the Mulroney Hatred & did his party steal from the Taxpayers for there own benefit No but we banished them.
The joke at the time after that election was what do the Conservative's have in common with a Corvette, 2 Seats.
The blatant double standards employed by the mainstream media regarding Mulroney never cease to amaze me. Now we have the spectacle of Iggy chiding Harper for not being polite enough to Brian Mulroney. Had a prominent Tory made these remarks, the Liberals and the MSM would have demanded that Harper renounce those sentiments or risk the accusation of being too "cozy" with the "evil" Mulroney.
In a similar vein, Keith Martin gets a pass from the MSM over recent remarks which essentially call for two-tier medicine. Were he still a Tory, you can bet that he would have been vilified.
'let's increase funding to $20 to 30 million' - boomnozoom
Obviously you and most Quebec voters do not realize that PMSH increased the equalization payments by over $4 billion/year since he was elected.
And Quebecers still voted against the CPC over $24 million?
Are they crazy?
La Presse reporter Denis Belavance told the reason why on CTV one day - Quebecers have never been told by anyone that they get most of this money in equalization from Alberta's oil sands taxes to Ottawa.
We've spent 40 years helping Quebec and it's been a total waste of time and our money.
And they are screwing up our part of the country with their unrestrained voting ignorance.
Time to give Gilles a few sheckles for cab fare to his Promised Land and tell them to git.
Seriously.
I happened to catch on CPAC Mr. Harper’s announcement in N.B. followed by media questions. (Not sure CBC or CTV carried it.) In any case, it was a happy time, many good things were happening. The Premier of NB and his Minister of Tourism praised Mr. Harper, the Premier calling him his good friend a couple of times. It was also a happy time during the press questions… little jokes here and there, etc. None of this is shown or commented on in the media… only the last bit where he was answering a CBC question about Mulroney… that is all over the place. To me, this is very disportionate.
I’m not a CPC member, but when the Prime Minister speaks, it gives me confidence that he knows what he is doing, and working toward a goal for the good of Canada. Why are we do darn side-tracked by these juicy tid-bits? Could it be because that’s mostly all we get from the media? I think there is a correlation.
That is why I like to see the complete announcements or press conferences. That way I can form my own conclusion and not have it filtered through someone else’s biases.
CBC; all Mulroney, all taser, all Kahder all the time.
Wonder if Mulroney likes to be used? The Liberals are using him right now.
get over it.
bette Sidetracked
its because like i & others have said the PM was branded a few yrs ago as Evil & the msm dont get the access they had to enjoy before so they hate him for that
Mulroney , just another lackey parked at the intersection of Sussex drive and Bay street.
how are the lieberals coming on their repayment schedule from Adscam
Cal we will Never see it, they will wish wash that till the cows come home.
and that goes for the Leadership loans.
again if that were the conservatives different story
Cal sorry hit the post key
i meant to say
And that goes for the Leadership loans too you will Never see or hear of them being ever being repayed Or stall stall stall Canadians will forgive & forget.
bryanr - Dion's leadership loan was apparently paid by the Liberal Party IF he agreed to step down for Ignatieff.
As for the money stolen by the Liberal Party from the taxpayer, we, the people, have to demand it back. We have to write to ALL Liberal MPs (with copies to the CPC) - and demand that they pay us back.
Get going - if the US people can get Tea Parties going, then, can't we Canadians get Pay Us Back email campaigns going?
The LIEberals are just using their trusted hackneyed approach of slur, innuendo, trying to create the proverbial 'wedge issue' on the CPC.
Unfortunately, the LIEberals they just keep shooting blanks, because there is nothing substantive to keep the leaky LIEberal ship afloat.
Continuing to fly the Jolly Roger from their masthead is not helping the LIEberal cause. The fact that Iggy signed on the the coalition boarding party will only continue to sink their ship into the waterline.
Cheers
Hans-Christian Georg Rupprecht, Commander in Chief
1st Saint Nicolaas Army
Army Group "True North"
bryanr - to my knowledge, the Liberal Party paid Dion's leadership loans if he agreed to step down for Ignatieff.
As for the money stolen by the Liberal Party from the Canadian TaxPayer, we, the people, have to demand it back. Email all Liberal MPs, with copies to the CPC. Ask them when they are going to pay Canadian taxpayers back.
If the taxpayers of the US can organize Tea Parties, then, surely, we Canadians can organize emails to, not ask, but demand our money back.
The sleazeball leftlibs LOVE red tories like Brian Mulroney in the classic "Joe Clark-obstructionist" mold when they think that, in their caveman collectivist minds, they can resurrect/manufacture the old Reform/"progressive" Conservative so-called rift and so hurt Stephen Harper.
The entire left elite establishment are positively foaming at the mouth these days at the prospect of 'manufacturing' another shot at power by repeating over and over and over on many fronts, anti-Conservative MSM misrepresentation, slander and innuendo. The entire left elite establishment REALLY believe that NOW the poker is hot and is the time to manufacture another election. They are positively DELIRIOUS with the prospect that Canadians have forgotten about the Sponsorship Scandal, Shawinigate, The HRDC Boondoggle, The failed Gun Registry, The Canada Lands Scandal etc etc etc..
I think the left are sort of manic-depressive types; so devastated were they following 2 consecutive Conservative election wins!
Liberalism is TRULY a mental defect and the majority in Canada are suffering mightily.
As for Count Igg-ula.. he has the look and feel of a guy trying to figure out how he'd look and feel if he really was the guy he is trying to be.
An American phony.
ET
is that not Illegal for the party to pay the Debt of the Leadership canidate?
And we have not heard of that, Yet.
although not to Doubt you it would not surprise me at all.
Et i was just listening to the news on local radio here In Sunny Grey/Bruce.
Article on the PM saying today jobless numbers bad, but expected.
the article is also up at ctv.ca
Anyways watch the media & liberals play with that comment, This got me to thinking can you see if the Conservatives are defeated in an election this fall The liberals will blame all the Losses to the coffers on the PM & conservatives & next thing you see will Tax Increases
anyways those are quick thoughts
I have to go & i wish you ET, Kate & all.
a Safe & Happy Easter weekend.
I emailed Iggy and my do-nothing Liberal MP David McGuinty (with cc to PMSH) the other day to congratulate them on getting out of debt:
"That must be a relief.
It certainly is to me because now you can start paying back the ADSCAM MILLIONS that were STOLEN by the Liberal Party of Canada. We want this money back! I trust we will soon hear your plan for doing this.
You can pipe up too Mr. McGuinty if Mr. Ignatieff is too busy with his leadership convention duties.
Mr. Prime Minister: please remind the people of Canada of this payback responsibility if the Liberals forget to mention it.
Regards,"
No replies yet...
Would it be too difficult for the feds to table a motion demanding a repayment schedule for the 40 million? You'd think the Tories could easily get support for this from the block or ndp. Or is this too simple?
Without the Rip van Winkle media, you'd have very little to link to."

Kate,
Still trying to defend a PM who took big wads of cash from an arms dealer.
Some things are easy to defend. Some are not.
Don't let your partisanship get in the way of your usual good sense.
In the "If This Was a Conservative" Dept, The local media in Atlantic Canada don't know whether to sh*t or go blind. It seems a local NDP provincial candidate has had pictures of her naked, nude or topless, depending on the "news" source, sent to them.
problem #1, the lady is an actress and as such should be allowed to act in roles involving nudity, partial or otherwise, and,
problem #2, the tattletale was a member from the provincial Lieberal party.
What to do, what to do? She is not conservative so you can't stick the morality of it all line. It is also not a conservative who sent in the pictures so they can't go with the bible belt backward mentality line. They have a story that is not a story but can't let go. The proverbial tempest in a teapot.
btw, said actress is not Playboy material but rather a normal middle aged woman you would find on a Caribbean or European beach. Or even the local beach 20 minutes outside of Halifax for that matter.
Mark...where is Kate defending PMSH?
When I read her post my first thought was...oh my Kate is ticked off at PMSH again!
Sorry Mark...I 'misread' your comment.
...and I don't see where Kate is defending Mulroney either.
With all the shite washing over the decks of the Kanukistani ship of state, you'd think the press would at least outfit their favorite partisan leader with gum boots and norwester...they both look like wads of used buttwipe on this latest non issue flying feces fest.
I guess there's no more pressing national issues for the denizens of the hill to take care of eh guys?
I hope a layed-off factory worker takes a dump on your front lawns tonight.
Why would Iggy have a moral compass, when today's technology lets him have a moral GPS?
I mean, other than the fact that a compass doesn't have batteries to run flat on you oneday.
With regard to the leadership loans. Each candidate had to pay 50,000 as a first deposit. The Liberal Party wanted to refund this to each candidate but Elections Canada said 'no'.
Rae took them to Federal court, and the court said that the Liberal party COULD refund the 50,000. By 2009, Dion was left with 200,000, and referring to several articles in the MSM - which are difficult to find, the Liberal party wanted to, as a gesture of 'regret' for kicking Dion out of office, "pay tribute to Stephane Dion' - in particular by paying off his debt. I don't know how much they have done so far.
The Liberal Party is "planning to stage a separate fund raising event for Dion during the convention" (this is the May coronation convention). [Joan Bryden, Canoe News, March 9, 2009].
So, it looks like it hasn't been completely paid off, but the Liberal Party is attempting to, in May, deal with it by this separate event.
Apparently, Elections Canada can also, if they figure the money won't be repaid, 'forget it'.
Mark, have you suffered a head injury or something? That's two comments now that make no f@#$'ing sense at all.
All these stories are emanating from the Red Star and Mop & Pail.
Liberals trying to sow discension.
A Canadian at April 9, 2009 4:58 PM
The most admired modern "Tory" leader by the chattering classes is Bob Stanfield, "The Best Prime Minister We Never Had".
They say this as they are liberals and Stanfield was a loser. I don't think Conservatives think well of Bob Stanfield, except perhaps in his personal locale. He was a loser.
RW, Robert Stanfield may have been the best thing since sliced bread but his fate was sealed when the MSM and Canadian public caught Turdeaumania. He sounded like an elder statesman which was the last thing the sheeples wanted(think Beatles era). And let's not forget the most popular image that Stanfield had was him fumbling a football.
Like Preston Manning, nobody ever listened to Mr Stanfield but they saw the media induced image of a hayseed. Style over substance, Canadians have already seen what our friends south of the border are soon realizing, all be it a bit too late.
The main reason to avoid the Mulroney discussion is that it is so boring.
"The blatant double standards employed by the mainstream media..."
- doesn't fit the narrative (need/want direction, see "lemmings")
- Canadian MSM *want* the CBC to exist; could be a nice, comfy place if they lose their "real world" job (lack of competition)
- we'll just adjust/mould perception of reality to suit us (arrogance/ignorance)
- admitting mistakes would reflect bad (poor self-esteem, unwillingness to "man-up")
Texas Canuck a ecrit: "when the MSM and Canadian public caught Turdeaumania"
I offer: "...when the MSM and backroom political publicity agents created..."
There, fixed that for you. And I'm glad you mentioned the Beatles in that post.
Mark: "Still trying to defend a PM who took big wads of cash from an arms dealer." -- I don't believe anything like this is in the terms of the enquiry. It was Mr. Mulroney the EX-PM who as a private business man took $300,000 from Schreiber for consulting services to be rendered in his capacity as a private business person. This is certainly not "wads" of cash in comparison to the missing 40 million. Nor does it have anything to do with Mr. Mulroney's actions while in office.
Personally, I am starting to get confused about why we are even having this enquiry -- except that the Liberals colluded with Schreiber to bring forward accusations (remember they were secretly meeting him while he was in jail in Toronto), then as everyone got hot under the collar, Mulroney says "yes, bring on the enquiry" -- so now we have one --at considerable expense -- though I doubt it will bring anything useful forward.
Interesting that Liberals continue to try to exploit Mulroney as a personality in the hope of causing trouble for Stephen Harper. I really blame Liberals for most of this nonsense.
Yeh..Vit...how about some Beatle music, before the psychedlic drugs.
