Hey. they's the bros on the BB court!!! What? The Owe is supposed to be running a country? Somebody should have told him. Oh wait. Chavez did...and he's running it into the ground. And who said Yanks aren't stooppiiddd?
What a terrible end game for the United States Of America. The fact is that a once proud Nation is being pissed away for Nada. I lived for about 6 years in America and found the people kind and considerate.
They deserve better! Pictures are worth a thousand words!
AAAHHH... ain't that sweet young Socialists in Love...
It is spring after all and Obama has nearly seized as much American Business Assets as Chavez has, albeit Obama printed money to do his takeovers, the end result is the same.
melwilde, America's democracy is stronger than that. Three and a half years and he'll be gone, unless he surprises us all and actually finds a backbone.
[M]y comrade and friend Luis Bonilla, a brilliant educator and inspiring fighter for justice … has taught me a great deal about the Bolivarian Revolution [i.e., Chavez's movement] and about the profound educational reforms underway here in Venezuela under the leadership of President Chavez. We share the belief that education is the motor-force of revolution, and I’ve come to appreciate Luis as a major asset in both the Venezuelan and the international struggle—I look forward to seeing how he and all of you continue to overcome the failings of capitalist education as you seek to create something truly new and deeply humane….
[I’ve] learned that education is never neutral. It always has a value, a position, a politics. Education either reinforces or challenges the existing social order, and school is always a contested space—what should be taught? In what way? Toward what end? By and for whom? ...
Venezuelans have shown the world that with full participation, full inclusion, and popular empowerment, the failing of capitalist schooling can be resisted and overcome. … [W]e, too, must build a project of radical imagination and fundamental change. Venezuela is poised to offer the world a new model of education—a humanizing and revolutionary model whose twin missions are enlightenment and liberation.
It must just gall all of the rightwingers out there that Obama is reaching out to President Chavez and also to Cuba, rather than alienating them. Obama is the best thing to happen to the USA in a long time; especially after havuing one of the most corrupt regimes in American history with Bush, Rumsfeld and company. Oh, where were those weapons of mass distruction again? Go Obama go.
Leadership: Amid all the boilerplate about dialogue and partnership at Trinidad's Summit of the Americas, the Obama administration has shown no real leadership on its goals. If they matter, why is it left to Canada to lead?"
"Canada, by contrast, is taking the lead. Prime Minister Stephen Harper said his top priority at the Summit is to champion free trade, in line with the will of the region's real democracies.
"Our focus for the Summit of the Americas will be about free trade and avoiding other countries moving back to protectionist measures," Harper's spokesman said. "Canada's position is that we must not allow the impact of the (financial) crisis to reverse our hard-fought progress towards freer trade and investment."
"What a shame that it's now left to Canada to do the heavy lifting on the actions that will genuinely advance peace and prosperity in our global neighborhood."
Tom, little sunshine, your living god BO is already proving, in the short time he's had, that his regime will be THE most corrupt in US history... ya know, appointing a tax evader to head the IRS... palling around with guys who wanted to blow up US servicemen and their ladies at Ft Dix...small things like that. History is going to rehabilitate GWB, especially after BO and his corrupt & incredibly inept administration leaves the US a wasteland. BTW, anyone who admires Hugo Chavez clearly proves that he or she has a screw loose... but then, the universities in North America are still filled with unrepentant marxists in the humanities departments, despite the fact that marxism-leninism has been responsible for the biggest mass murders in human history.
Tom, my little boy, us rightwingers see the world as it is in all its grubby little ways. You extreme lefties see only what you want - and that is why in every leftist revolution, the first to get eaten are the most fervent revolutionairies, started with the French revolution and is continuing with Hugo Chavez. Take care, Tom - you will find out too late that you're toast
"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill
I think that Obama's behaviour has little to do with any political agenda and more to do with his extreme narcissism.
And, it is becoming clear that Obama does not feel committed to nor a patriot of, America. His relentless denigration of America when he is in foreign lands, his refusal to acknowledge the aid, the achievements of America to the world, his constant apologies about American behaviour - reveals a deep antipathy to America.
Obama is not a political activist; he doesn't take actions based on the assumed results for America as a nation, as an economy, but on his need to control how people interact with him.
Obama is behaving in foreign relations exactly as he behaved on the campaign trail - his agenda was to win people over and make them 'adore' him.
His agenda with those leaders and peoples whom the US has, for various reasons, critiqued and shunned, has been to make those leaders - and the people - feel that he is their friend. This, he psychologically feels, makes them 'like' him. So, he has told Iran, Russia, N. Korea, Cuba, Venezuala, Saudi Arabia, that he will not criticize them.
His agenda with those leaders and peoples whom the US has aligned itself with, has been to denigrate the leaders to show them that they cannot take the US friendship (which is to say, Obama's friendship) for granted. That is how he has behaved with the UK, French, German leaders. Even in Canada, he made it clear that he was too busy to pay much attention or time to Canada.
With regard to policies - Obama doesn't think about results. For example, to cement his relation with the Teamster's Union, Obama broke the NAFTA agreement with Mexico and has stopped allowing Mexican trucks into the US to deliver goods.
His European trip failed to win the US a single requirement - for more troops in Afghanistan, for more stimulus for the economy, etc.
Essentially, we are seeing Obama remove the US from the world stage as a technological, economic and political agent - and inserting himself as The Man Who Is Adored. That is all that matters to him.
The result of this power-gap will be that Iran and N. Korea will both achieve nuclear weapon capacity, Russia will move into East Europe, Iran will try to provoke a war in the ME...
I like a good, solid traditional one with the stretchy skin space between the thumb and forefinger of both parties joining, eye contact and a respectful few shakes. Nothing is worse than someone prematurely grasping your fingers and shaking; that indicates disrespect.
The grip shown in the photo, while valid in some circles, is also a "counter-culture" one that I'm not fond of as it has always seemed to me to be overly-familiar and presumptuous. Why not just knock fists, high-five or jump and bump chests?
It is a power shake. You see gang bangers use it, you see outlaw bikers (or their wannabes) use it. You see drug ingesting musicians use it. Yes it is counter culture. It is a sign that "we are the same, we are brothers".
I think ET has done a splendid critique of what's in Obongo's head, aside from a lot of empty space.
The Obama administration has put the entire world in great danger. This is not fantasy, it could get ugly. It has happened before.
It won't take much more insanity to collapse the US dollar.
"The Obama administration has put the entire world in great danger."
It was the American People who chose this man and thereby put the entire world in great danger. Don't blame a fox for stealing eggs when it was the farmer that put him in the hen house.

He duped America into voting for him. They deserve what they get for not being informed voters. Whats that old saying? As you sow so shall you reap?
I find it interesting that you talk of Russia and North Korea and Iran and whatnot. No mention of China. They are really in the ascendency now - Wen Jiabao's public scolding of the US for not regulating the financial sector; the Bank of China head's brilliantly timed suggestion about an alternative reserve currency; China's increasing clout in resource rich areas of Africa.
North Korea and Iran already have nuclear weapons capacity - that they haven't demonstrated it is a separate issue. Iran can't afford a war right now. It can't afford anything at all - its economy is in an absolute mess. Russia's economy is in spectacular decline - investors who once celebrated the importance of BRIC (Brazil Russia India China), now focus almost exclusively on BIC. Most of your 'analysis' is idle speculation. The threat, as always, comes from China. They have been trying to rattle the Indians and Japanese lately - and now the little speech about projecting naval power in the resource rich contested waters of the South China Sea has got the Indonesians, Malaysians and Singaporeas quite concerned.

Wow, that's deeply disturbing. Not shocking, just very disturbing.
