"The Saskatchewan Party government says it will not be keeping its election promise on cuts to greenhouse gas emission."
And now the better news - it won't cost them a single vote.

Funny stuff. I voted in that poll and when I read the Calgary Sun this morning, it had the exact polling response. 92% were doing nothing. I did my part-drove the car a lot, did some laundry, cleaned the stove again (boy that sucker is clean-thanks tree huggers!), and test fired my lawn mower in the cold.
i posted that i turned my electric heat to 75 and my air to 70 and also drove my truck for 7 hours without shuting it off. and i would guess not a vote would be lost.
Seems to me like Saskatchewan is doing the only rational thing unlike the rest of Canada. What I would like to know, is how the special interest groups and lefties infiltrated the Alberta Conservatives. Is there any politician on earth that will fight to death against the "global warming/climate change" activists? &^CK any politician who will bow to pressure just to keep their power. What good is power when you don't ever use it?
I agree with the NDP. The Sask.Party isn't doing enough to destroy the economy fast enough.
The SaskaBOOM is the NDP's worst nightmare. And the fact that the ROC is hurting amplifies the NDP's dilemma. As young people continue to move here for work, the percentage of public union employees will continue to drop. Without a substantial percentage of these union workers, the NDP have nothing. The only thing left for the NDP is to hope some three-eyed fish are found in lakes after our first nuclear power plant is built.

Carbon taxes/Cap n' Trade are coming(at least federally), it's a done deal. Ironically, by falling in line, PMSH as cut the legs out from under the envios. As it stands now the $$ collected will be passed back and forth within our own boarders, or at least in N.America( I think). Although this will be a transfer of wealth from west to east( in Canada) and from red to blue(down south); at least it won't be to China and India. That is the true agenda of the enviros; to send wealth to the third world to support and help dictators destroy liberty.
Take solace in the fact that we’ve hijacked their cause. I’d like to see the money spent on nuclear power plants.JMO
I can only wish we in Alberta didn't have a "closet" lieberal government
Now folks,a Mr.Lobblaw over in the CBC comments said that the Sask Party is full of uneducated bumpkins and just let the "educated"back in power and the ills of the world will be solved.Hmmm,is that the party that screwed things up so bad in this province(the CCF) that they had to change their name? Also the guru of the climate change adherences(Al Gore) has a carbon footprint larger than some countries and the "educated"find that acceptable.Gore reminds me of Sadam Hussien and his palaces.
"Carbon taxes/Cap n' Trade are coming(at least federally), it's a done deal."
I heard a federal minister on Rutherford a week or so ago yakking about cap and trade. His rationale was basically "Well, Obama's going to do it so we have to as well." Such leadership!
In the US, there's a report out that it's going to cost every American family $3900 per year in higher energy costs. It would be nice if someone would come out with Cdn. figures so we too know how badly we're going to get screwed - and for nothing.
What I do not understand, is why people don't embrace the most dangerous form electricity generation: roof top solar.
Think about it, you kill two birds with one stone! Green power AND overpopulation!
Bet you did not know that living at ground zero of Cherynobl was less dangerous than going up on your roof to install solar panels. IN fact, of all forms of power generation, nuclear is the safest. Safer than coal, safer than hydro, safer than wind, and safer than all forms of solar.
Impressive! Now he has to say the words: "Global Warming is a fraud" But a good first step.
It's a pity Mr. Wall will have to take the time and learn French in order to become PM of Canada one day.
Oops.
Although Kyoto would have had us sending money to India, I do know that they are not a dictatorship.
Polar Ice sheets expanding, colder & longer winters, likely Climate Minimum era, frost causing crop failures . . . the list goes on.
How many more years it takes before reality imposes itself on the naked global warming emperor is impossible to figure out. The Warmongers beliefs are deeply rooted in guilt & dissonance so they will linger longer but when they shatter, it will be a complete loss of faith.
A new syndrome - Post Global Warming Believer Syndrome, will overload the available help services. Environmentalism will scramble to find a next + bigger crisis, but their credibility will be so low only the hardcore whackos and wannbe whackos will believe them.
Al Gore et al will be the butt of every joke and the recipient of so many law suits that it will be impossible to keep count.
Universities will be forced to clean house and fire for cause all the Warmongering professors who made so much money pushing the great ponzi scheme. Lizzy May will be fighting Dr. Fruit Fly for the best begging corner in downtown Toronto and everyone who bought energy company stocks will be rich, rich, rich !!
As I drove home yesterday I was marveling at the Ford F250 pickup in front of me with the conservation plates. That and the thought of all the hypocrits out there being all nice and shiny for the environment 25 hours out of the year got me to thinking (no smoke this time!!).
The only way people's attitudes toward conservation and hugging the nearest tree will change is if it is both convienent AND it helps to improve the quality of life of the average schmoo. Governments just don't seem to get it. You cannot legislate attitude.
There was an Earth Day?
I rode my bicycle to work. I do that every day, so I guess I didn't do anything special.
I care about the environment too. Most reasonable people do, but in a reasonable manner. It's too bad the issue's been hijacked by the radical left, who won't be happy until we're all recycling our own urine while walking naked through a blizzard from our mud hut to the unemployment office. Probably not even then.
April 22-09 on (CBC) "THE NATIONAL"
Last night on the National, they intervied Bob McDonald--host of CBC Radio`s "Quirks and Quarks."
He (now) claims that solar activity is in decline, guess what may be happening? A cold spell! The more things change, the more they stay the same!
I agree with Premier Wall. If the carbon tax by any name they choose is coming why pi** away money on inefficiences now? I read that the State of Washington is supposed to go 15% renewable. Ok they get about 65% of the power from hydro so no big deal..then they did not count hydro as 'renewable'. That is reserved for windmills and shiney things.
Why would he have to learn French to be PM. Might be time for a non french speaking PM. Let Quebec learn english.

Your comment made me think about Al Gore III.
He was arrested on July 5, 2007.
The younger Gore, 24, was pulled over for allegedly driving his Toyota Prius about 100 mph down the San Diego Freeway.
Who knew that a Prius could go 100 MPH?
You can't legislate attitude, that's for sure. ; .)

Damn. Now I know where all the conservatives that used to be in AB went! You guys/gals in Saskatchewan kidnapped them all!!!!! Guess I'll be moving there.Cheaper then shipping them all back to AB. Anybody know of any good machine/manufacturing shops looking for QA/QC?
Bob McDonald of Quirks and Quarks said that its cooling because of less sunspots? SDA has readers at the CBC! Remember, we heard it here first!Kudo's to our hostess.
Goes to illustrate that Premier Wall is a liar and a fraud, just like his buddy Harpo. Danny Williams was right on the mark when he called Harpo the same thing. In the US, Obama is now considering a carbon cap, BC has a carbon tax and that won't be changing after the upcoming provincial election. Wall is in the pocket of business, however it will soon come to pass that any government NOT addressing carbon emmissions will be in the minority. Europe has some of the most stingent rules. The so called Sask-a-Boom bubble has burst, people being laid off, housing starts down, companies down sizing or closing, mines laying people off and the list goes on. Mr. Wall and his cronies should take off their rose colored glasses and stop trying to feed the people such a crock of S*#t.
T,
Run along now; you're not bright enough to play here.
Isotopes of Carbon in the atmospheric CO2 - read all about it here.
Warm up your ginger ale and it releases - CO2, just like seawater does.
Cap and trade IS a solution - but to what problem? How about, how to fund fully indexed pensions for the don't-take-a-risk swivelling servants - more money has to be sucked out of the producers in order to feed this insatiable monster.
I suggest the following solution to the global warming problem: allow it to happen. Atmospheric water vapor will rise, resulting in increasing cloud cover. More solar energy will be reflected back into space, resulting in cooling. Time to swap hysteria for hysteresis.
Actually, we could cancel ALL green/carbon/climate taxing tomorrow and only a small cadre of Green Marxists and the partisan corporate media would raise a stink....you'd get no complaint from the poor schlub bearing the tax tab for the demented sermonizing of Gaia's prophets.
The Koyoto-climate change-carbon foot print hysteria and tax/property grab is the most demonstrable rift between the MSM and regular people.

T how is being 'in the pocket' of unions working for the CAW??
My neighbor asked me what I was going to do that was "green" for earth day. My response was that I thought I would go for a drive in my green(color) truck.
Also, in reading between the lines on the SASK Party's announcement was this statement " besides, we think global warming is a hoax".
Horny Toad
So is there reaaly any wonder that "Earth Day" conveniently coincides with Lenin's birthday?
Cap and trade is just another name for carbon tax. I thought we just settled that issue with the last election. So who's bringing it back?
Rob C at April 23, 2009 4:16 PM
This Stelmach guy is an interloper; he got up the middle, just like Stuffit Dion did. And he's stuffing it also.
Next time, elect a conservative, damnit!!
Jimbo at April 23, 2009 5:27 PM
Sorry, mud huts are not allowed. We must sleep under the heavens, as do our friends the seals and polar bears, and not use evil weapons. We must use only our cannine teeth to rip flesh ... ooops ... what happened to vegan?
"If the carbon tax by any name they choose is coming why pi** away money on inefficiences now"
The core problem at hand (post-global warming hysteria) seems to be "how to keep silly, easily-led individuals busy while real problems are solved."
Lets now open a debate on this, with the silly people in control of the discussion.
MaryT said "Why would he have to learn French to be PM. Might be time for a non french speaking PM. Let Quebec learn english."
I agree, Mary, that's the way it should be.
Soccermom, it must be annoying to some that the current (non-Quebec-sourced) PM speaks good French, eh? Oh, the horror!
I think you mean: Quelle horreur!
Seems to me that more and more people are cluing into the ruse that is AGW.
Piper Paul Well in the US they go OOOh look at the puppy.
A coincidence that Sask is the first to call BS on global warming ? Nope. Think sda.
Maybe sda does speak for the people of Sask. Certainly seems to have their ear :)
Watts Up With That has a poll going.
What should we call the current solar minimum :
o The Svalgaard Minimum (predicted it)
o The Gore Minimum (just a dick)
o The Hansen Minimum (another dick)
o The Modern Minimum (timely)
o The Eddy Minimum (coined the last one, Maunder)
O Other
Currently, Svalgaard has a big lead, 50%
Gore is second at 23% Hilarious that Big Al could have a cooling event named after him !!
Doesn't deserve it though. Wouldn't understand it either. Does know dick about climate.
How about calling it:
'the extreme minimum'; or
'the big minimum'.
The Obama minimum?
naw
Wait for the next black hole discovery that sucks in everything useful for that moniker.
Somebody tried to survey me last week about how good a job the govt is doing on fighting climate change. However there was no option to answer that I don't believe in it. After 4 questions, I hung up because it felt like a push poll.
I'm just thinkin' that Gore/Suzuki got it all wrong when they forgot who their target audience was. Most of the US and Canada, and Europe for that matter, lie far enough north of the warm equatorial climate, (which we pay a lot of money to visit for a week in the winter), that the whole notion of global warming has us secretly cheering it on. Now this latest talk about COOLING of the sun is getting my attention!
If there is cooling, nobody told this neck of the woods.
20 years ago I could still ski on the lake and ice fish at this time of the year.
The last few winters, including this year, the lake has been free of ice by April 15 if not sooner.
My garden is already all plowed and the hardier stuff already sowed. Our growing season is at least 4-5 weeks longer.
I for one like this global warming. So go right ahead and burn more stuff!
