Dwain Lingenfelter, Unplugged

"One can only speculate which camp this came from...."

Update: For context, these remarks were made before a Saskatoon business association in 2001 after today's unborn-again socialist had left politics -and the province - to take up a position with a Calgary energy company.

Welcome John Gormley Live listeners!

Um.
Sounds like a roast to me.
Explains the Caution tape across the front of the table.
Funny stuff.

RED as a BABOONS ASS. Pat Atkinson is no Baboon, maybe a Yak, but no Baboon. Now Lorne might smell like a Baboons ass but look like one, no way, maybe a weasel but no Baboon

Saskatchewan; can you give up this guy for a month? We need him out here in B.C. We have the same left wing actors, just different names and faces. And they ain't all in the NDP.

We have some real winner NDP candidates here in BC... What a boob.

NDP candidate resigns over Facebook photos

What's your address, Gunney?

That's an old tape. Today's Lingenfelter wants to become Premier and start a gas exploration crown corporation.

Someone really doesn't understand what a "roast" is.

Damn straight he should resign. Who dares joke about themselves? Jesus this is sad...

Other issue with the video is that at the end its edited. Stupid move by whoever thought editing it would help their cause.

"We need him out here in B.C. We have the same left wing actors, just different names and faces. And they ain't all in the NDP." (Gunney99)

Exactly right! So, which party do we choose? The BC Conservatives aren't running a candidate in my riding.

The thing about a roast that makes it funny is the truth behind the jokes. Things you think but never say.

I am shocked, shocked I tell you. Who would have thought that anyone in the NDP has a sense of humour.

Now that's a well done roast. Compliments to the chef, he's a natural.

Yup. It was a roast.

Only folks from a humorless, petty and self-aggrandizing political organization* would actually use remarks from a roast as fodder for a political campaign.

A humorless, petty and self-aggrandizing political organization?**

Gosh, that would be the NDP.

* A petty and self-aggrandizing political organization would be the Liberals of course.

** And a petty political organization would be the Tories...

The guy has the comedic timing of a gutshot moose.

From a neutral standpoint, that was painful viewing.

"take my life....please."

The next premier of Saskatchewan. Go Dwain Go! He'll help us eradicate our rat problem that is currently posing as a government in Regina.

i kept waiting for a geyser of seltzer water to gush forth from that boutonniere in his lapel...

now THAT would have been funny !

Much ado about nothing.

Amateurish attempt at humour...embarassing on a personal level, but nothing of concern on a political level.

He's a regular Jerry Seinfeld...keep going...you may get your own show about nothing.

I'll take Don Rickles any day.

Here in BC, we have the choice of Left,Lefter, and REALLY LEFT!

We had a great Premier once, but he's long gone, and spinning in his grave at the antics of the current crop.

I felt kind of bad for the guy, he was obviously trying hard to be funny, but... ehh...
Nothing to rant about when it comes to politics, it was a roast, generally in roasts you make fun of people. Not much to rave about when it comes to comedy, the baboon's tush comment was passable, the rest of it was kind of tired. Give him some credit for standing up and telling bad jokes to a crowd.

"Here in BC, we have the choice of Left,Lefter, and REALLY LEFT!"

No kidding. I still haven't decided what to do with my ballot.

"He'll help us eradicate our rat problem that is currently posing as a government in Regina."

This is one "problem" you had better get used to because the socialists have finally worn out their welcome in Sask. Even their infamous "mediscare" and privatization fearmongering tactics won't work the next time around.

In the meantime, why don't you entertain us with some "Grant Devine - bad, Tommy Douglas - good" dogma?

All NDP organizations are a few clowns short of a circus.

This guy is trying to make up for the deficit.

Generally, when you "roast" somebody, they're in the room ...

Heah, a Don Rickles, he ain't. Who is this dimwit anyhow? I hope you flatlanders are not going to the polls anytime soon.

Wow, those NDPers really like holding on to old video tapes! Whose job is it to comb through old tapes, suffer long "up with party!" speeches to glean these nuggets? Couldn't pay me enough. It's great how they eat their own, though.

Dude, stick to hotrodding Corvettes going forward, please.

Soccermom: Too bad that they didn't give us a third choice, like:
None of the above, fire them all! (or jail)
I think that my vote will be marked: Fire Them All!
There is so much back room business going on, outside of BC parliament, it seems like such a waste of money to even have our tax dollars wasted on the house sitting. They people of BC just close their eyes to all of the scandals and plug their noses and mark an X.

Kate, generally when you do a roast you make jokes. Eric Cline was in the room and the jokes were directed at the general state of the NDP. So unsure why you would require the entire NDP to be in the room in order to do a roast?

Secondly, come on. We all know this video came from the SP.

I cannot see the video somebody post the link please.

The 'foul' language is this dippy fool's idea of how to appeal to the 'rednecks'. He is a fool and so typical of a Dipper/Puffin. They are not of the freedom lovers ilk. They choose to be against liberty and any one with one iota of intelligence can see right through this fool's attempt to be anything but a submissive Bolshevik who envies all real men who live and talk the language he is attempting to deride them with - he is not a clown, he is a fool and fools are laughed AT, not WITH.

Here in the Yukon, we have the problem of former Dippers turning Capitalist. Of course the Dippers have no clue how to run a business so we, rather , you southern taxpayers - the Yukon produces nothing- are subsidizing the failed businesses of these former pals of the Premier. They have bulldozed all the trees and grass from a double lot on Main St., Whitehorse with the 'idea' of slapping together a 'new' slum shack but they 'ran out of $$' so the dust blows there in summer and it is a drug dealer pit year round. An unsupervised vacant lot, right downtown in the Capital of the Yukon. The Dippers harassed the former owner of that lot relentlessly, he did a good job though so when he got sick, he sold it to the Dipper outfit (with 'backers' in Alta), now the former owner is laughing while the 'outrage' of all the gument employees, over the environmental disaster, is non existent.

I do feel sorry for you people in B.C. but, having lived there, I do know that the citizens of B.C. 'dropped the ball' a few elections ago when you attempted to distance yourselves from Ralph Kline and Preston Manning by allowing the Liebral Red to desecrate your political landscape. Why did you let that idiot Premier off the hook when he was caught Drunk Driving in Hawaii? He should have been forced to resign. Then you had Clark (the thief) and Shahoda (liar and crook), Bingogate Barret...all given the 'catch and release' treatment....B.C. has to rid itself of it's own mess. When B.C. had Social credit Premiers it was the richest province in Canada with NO DEBT. It was also a great place to live.

Funny how that works....wake up Canada!

Tom - the only rat's nest in the Saskatchewan legislature can be found sitting in the opposition benches. Our province finally has good government and you'll be extremely disappointed to know that the Wall government will likely be in power until Lingenfelter is in his mid 70's. We're talking at least 3 terms. He is highly unlikely to ever become the Premier

Foul language is something that is in all parties. Certainly, foul language was used in the PC tape featuring Brad Wall and current SP staffers.

Secondly, come on. We all know this video came from the SP.

Sorry, Mikey, it is clearly an NDP internal fight on this one. At the end of the video the question is asked if he should be the next leader of the NDP, obviously a negative campaign ad by one of Dwain's competitors for the leader of the party.
But nice try.

Trent, nice try! That is not proof that it was another campaign. Certainly the SP have an interest in who is going to be the next leader and this is there sad attempt to influence the decision.

Fritz @12:28, This gives a whole new meaning to the term double dipper.
'WX has removed one of the racy photos, Grope and Fail still has it.

Really Mikey? Where's your proof?

After the SP screw up two weeks ago of helping Lingenfelter and then this comes out? Come on, the SP is attempting to make up for a poor choice. Nobody within the NDP has ever raised this roast video as an issue. Maybe they realized an individual doing a roast is nothing but a joke or they never had access to the recording. Most importantly the video was uploaded to youtube on Sunday and quickly linked to by a Sask party supporter blog in mere seconds/minutes.

If this was another leadership camp doing this then the video would have been posted on a medium in which NDP members tend to frequent. All signs point to the SP.

Jema: Funny that Gordo Campbell was a decent, small c premier before he got caught drunk driving. After that, he got soft in the head and I guess he felt he had to pay penance in some way. Went kind of nuts with the enviro crap amongst other things. Have been here for almost 8 years, so my knowledge of BC politics is quite limited. I wish now that he had resigned after his DUI.

Right now there is absolutely no one worth voting for.

Mikey - Do you really think that the SP (or any thinking human being) has a favorite commie?

"...the video would have been posted on a medium in which NDP members tend to frequent..."

So YouTube is a hub of right-wing activity?

That many dippers all in one location. Where's a meteor when you really need one?

You mean nobody wonders why a video from a supposed NDP is upload to youtube and mere minutes later is posted on a SP supporter blog? Yeah, cause the SP is not involved at all.....
