Just posted on that Australian site:

As we freeze here in Canada in late March (extremely unusually cold temperatures this late into winter) it is with great gobsmacked incredulity that we STILL see nutbars pushing the Global Warming canard.

It truly gives me a renewed sense of sanity to learn that some of my cousins in Australia have finally woken up to the reality that Emperor Al Gore is not wearing any clothes. Though he's gotten damn rich from the ignorance of mindless sheeple!

Is this a new SDA feature, spot the differences puzzles?

btw, I spot 8

Nancy and Harry forgot to turn out the lights.....

I got a good laugh from the Green Car that runs on air.
This scam will rival the dept of the Am-Way fraud, seems that the STAR did a feature and not once did anyone ask how the compressed air gets into that reserve tank.

This invention works well in Europe for short trips and where there are lots of Electrical Compressor to fill up the tank.
The energy to build those special cylinders and drive the Compressors will eat up more power than the existing gas engines or the fuel to run it.
If only Jack and Olivia knew how much energy goes into making a bicycle along with the Oil and plastics and rubber, plus...the new bikes from China cause pollution from the diesel cargo ships that bring them from about a 3000 mile trip to Vancouver and then another 2500 miles to Toronto.

Wow....these eco-fascists are real morons .

The CBC forum is filled with absolute nuts; they lack the ability to apply a degree of critical thought to the claims made by unnamed others, or the opinions of unqualified pll like Gore or the fruit fly guy. That may be due to the CBC nonsense that is broadcast. The US Government has 3 Prongs.. Executive (president), Congress (legislative) and the US Supreme Court. You must pass all three to be constitutional. Oboma's Tax & Science cheats may dance & chant but they lack the power CBC contends. The political power is more like pushing on a string.

The Economy melt down was not due to just the lack of oversight, nor greedy Conservative capitalistic policies, but WAS due to the flawed Scientific Mathematical Model used to access risk

That flawed economic mathematical Model won a Nobel Prize.

The AGW model was created by a graduate student, who needed a job,...and that worthless group won a Nobel Prize

You would think people would make the connection.

Mathematical Models are not smarter than a 5th grader. Converting the world of analog to digital comes with data error (state of the Art). Yes! The world is still analog and wave theory rules

It was such a great success, I think the WWF is grossly underachieving. To be truly demonstrative, they need to go for Earth Week. I am sure Toronto will lead the way in results. It's only 1/52 of a year for cryin' out loud.

I like it . . . "Earth Week"

For added fun, we'll remove the voluntary bit and let everyone enjoy a week of no power by shutting down the whole grid.

Non-voluntary compliance is so Socialist Greenie.

Goreacle's EH hangover: death in the darkness.

Goreacle is a sob-lizzard.

Storms Sow Snow, Thunder From Plains to South

Storm bands sock Kansas with blizzards, South with damaging wind, rain and tornado warnings

Storms spread misery Saturday from the Great Plains to the Gulf Coast, dumping spring snow that cut power to thousands of Kansas utility customers"

""Snow, and lots of it," was Kyle Obert's laconic assessment of the weather conditions in Iowa City."

"A 72-year-old man shoveling snow died of a heart attack Saturday while waiting for an ambulance slowed by impassable roads in Arlington, in central Kansas, authorities told The Hutchinson News. On Friday, a 58-year-old woman was killed in a car accident on icy roadways in Marion County."

Damn, that's exactly what I was gonna say! You beat me to the punch! LOL

Sorry to be off topic here but I was just flipping channels and Prime Minister Harper was being interviewed on Fox News. Came across as intelligent and quick thinking. Had no notes (or teleprompter) in front of him. What I find impressive is that he can answer 4 or 5 questions in a minute with concise intelligent anwers. It would take Ignacia 2 minutes to answer 1 question and there would be not sustenance to the answer.

I'm thinking that when an election does arrive and there is a debate Harper will win hands down.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled program.

As the snow piles up here in southern Alberta, in minus 8 on the 29th of March, I woke my children early to ask what we all, as a family could do to save the planet from global warming. My wife made one suggestion that involved a white van taking me to a padded cell hopefully. It is so hard to believe, that in 2009, with supposed education, that there are still this many morons in the world. Why don't we sacrifice some virgins Algore and David, or maybe the great Mo could jump into a volcano to appease his Gaia, and all would be better in the little mind of an ecowhaco. This planet will be here long after we have totally ruined our economys and way of life. The media is the most destructive force on earth without firing a shot, because of their total stupidity in complying with this great hoax. I hope every media organization that spewed this bull...t goes broke.

Earth Hour? I thought it was happy hour... doh.

"...one of those holy causes in which journalists may freely lie"

What, another one? Perhaps it would be safer to ask, is there any cause in which journalists will -not- freely lie?

Other than conservative causes, I mean.

'School I was teaching in on Friday dimmed all lights. I wasn't going to bother, but my students insisted I turn out the lights.

So, while my personal carbon footprint is about the size of a fruit fly, Dr. Fruit Fly Himself and AlBore are probably jetting first class to their next speaking gig, where they'll be staying at a luxury hotel, before taking it easy on a Swiss ski slope or Bermuda beach.

Oh, now I get it: In order to assuage their gargantuan guilt about all the energy they consume, they shake their fingers at all of us plebs, asking US to use less energy so they don't have to feel so bad about their profligate waste. 'Only problem is, most of us aren't using that much energy -- we can't afford to -- while these jet-setters pig out and make million$ off the AGW scam.

Nice work if you can get it.

We used to have an "earth day" once a week, it was called Sunday, until it was destroyed by the same people that are bringing us earth hour(godless/commie/pinko/touchy-feely lefties).

Last night I watched the hockey game, my wife read her book, and at about 10:00o'clock we went to bed. Turned out the lights too. However, I think we did our duty the previous night when our power went off for about 5 hours. Everything shut down of course. But not to worry we were sleeping.

batb....I really hope you DID NOT give in to the little commies. Did you?

Calgary media seem to be proud as punch at the earth hour efforts. I wonder if the stats are in yet. Let the head scratching begin.

Personally I think that Earth Hour is like a Pagan Offering to eliminate the guilt complex most of these extravagant weirdos have for abusing the earth over the rest of the year.

They think 'Hey I turned my lites off for an hour, so I now I can lay waste to the earth resources for the rest of year with a free conscience.

Unlike so many of the rest of us who live mostly modest lives all year around, work in our gardens and see no need to pretend to be something we are not.

That's why I'm not surprized that the participation rate in it has declined in Aussyland.

Ya, something like confession.

Ya, something like confession.

"The Global Warming Heretic [Freeman Dyson]

"In The Civil Heretic, the NYT Magazine takes a look at how world-renowned scientist Freeman Dyson wound up opposing those who care most about global warming.

Since coming out of the closet on global warming, Dyson has found himself described as 'a pompous twit,' 'a blowhard,' and 'a mad scientist.' He argues that climate change has become an obsession for 'a worldwide secular religion' known as environmentalism. Dyson has been particularly dismissive of Al Gore, calling him climate change's chief propagandist and accusing him of relying too heavily on computer-generated climate models and promoting 'lousy science' that's distracting attention from more serious and more immediate dangers to the planet."

Dyson himself wrote about the need for heretics in science not long ago."

"My first heresy says that all the fuss about global warming is grossly exaggerated.

Here I am opposing the holy brotherhood of climate model experts and the crowd of deluded citizens who believe the numbers predicted by the computer models.

Of course, they say, I have no degree in meteorology and I am therefore not qualified to speak.

But I have studied the climate models and I know what they can do. The models solve the equations of fluid dynamics, and they do a very good job of describing the fluid motions of the atmosphere and the oceans. They do a very poor job of describing the clouds, the dust, the chemistry and the biology of fields and farms and forests. They do not begin to describe the real world that we live in. The real world is muddy and messy and full of things that we do not yet understand. It is much easier for a scientist to sit in an air-conditioned building and run computer models, than to put on winter clothes and measure what is really happening outside in the swamps and the clouds. That is why the climate model experts end up believing their own models."

HERETICAL THOUGHTS ABOUT SCIENCE AND SOCIETY

Lorrie Goldstein doesn't lie. In fact, he is really fired up this morning !!

[ Fact is, if you really believe global warming poses an existential threat to the planet, you should be cheering on the recession, as well as figuring out how to decrease the Earth's population by about, oh, 80%, over the next few years (not including Al Gore, of course) if the ... uh ... "science" is right.

Indeed, when it comes to saving the planet, who really cares about your pension plan, your RRSPs, your kids' education fund, your employer's solvency, your job, your house, or, heck, let's just say it: WHO REALLY GIVES A !@@%$# ABOUT YOU, YOU EVIL, DISGUSTING PLANET-KILLING, GRANDCHILDREN-HATING, DESTROYER OF GAIA!!! TIME FOR YOU TO MAKE LIKE EDWARD G. ROBINSON IN SOYLENT GREEN (IT'S PEOPLE!, IT'S PEOPLE!) AND TAKE A DIRT NAP, PAL! ] LG

Meanwhile, in California, the Academy of Science AGW displays are apparently not very popular.

[ The interactive display to save the polar bear cub, by creating more ice by reducing greenhouse gases was empty the three times I passed by the booth. [A carbon] “hockey stick” was is full view.] WUWT

[ For the most part these { AGW}displays were ignored, except for a few casual observers seeking refuge from the long lines at the real science displays. This lack of interest and participation seems to reflect the recent Gallup Polls indicating people are not really concerned about global warming, or ocean warming either. It could be our children have caught on to the scam, or they have reached global warming overload for the school lessons, and want some real science for change of pace.] WUWT

And so, when will the fraud suits against the Teachers begin ?

I drove around the SE shore of lake Huron last night. Lights were on in the houses.

I think the volcano blew up right on schedule. Talk about your carbon footprint. Wow. Was The Gorecal in Alaska last night?

I agree Ron, our Kids were shown an inconvenient truth in class, but by a teacher who taught them critical analysis of gore's claims.
These kids are now well aware of the dishonesty of the global warming cultists. There won't be fraud suites in our school district, they taught the kids to think.

Perhaps all our schools should have free and opened WiFi.

'Ahem, Teacher. It says here on my iPod - the "science" of AGW does not stand up to scrutiny. Not even close.'

'And besides, Gore's film cannot be shown in Britain's classrooms without a political opinion disclaimer. By court order. A long time ago. Of which Gore and his clowns apparently never even tried to appeal. So what gives ?'

Class dismissed. Johnny, go straight to indoctrination sessions now.

Just wondering how many of the feel-good-turn-off-the-lights crowd ALSO turned off their heating...

(!...let's move 'Earth Day' to the first week in January: Dark AND cold)

Justthinkin: "batb....I really hope you DID NOT give in to the little commies. Did you?"

Yeah, I did. My bad. And you're right. Kids and teachers are totally brainwashed. Dr. Fruit Fly is the Great Green Guru: all hail.

Don't confuse the Goreacles with facts.
Reality to the Goreacles is meaningless.

The only reality the Goreacles sense/feel is the pain of stubbing their toe on the bedpost as they rouse themselves to meet/face another day of darkness.

The Goreacle fanatics/cultists are prisoners, in the prison of Gaia.
...-

"Using AGW logic, it all makes perfect sense.

The models forecast a warm winter. The models were wrong, and instead it was extremely cold and snowy. All that late melting snow caused a flood, so the flood must be blamed on the global warming predicted by the models.

AGW Commandment #1 : Reality must never take precedence over computer models."

Global warming has predictably struck again.

White said climate change caused by global warming likely is changing ice conditions and adding to the unpredictability.

I think we can safely say...ZERO.
Like your idea, but it should be Earth MONTH!!! And it should be in the coldest time of the year...i.e January in the Northern Hemi....August in the South

DV, they can't move the date. It was determined by divine revelation. Some guy in Australia had a vision in which Gaia spoke to him through her burning bush and told him to worship her at that hour every year at the same time. It would take an intervention by the Goreacle to change it.
I expect further embellishments to follow, eg, people being forbidden to eat meat on that day; a sacramental service of tofu and granola, and other observances, as they are further revealed over time.

Bob @ 10.29. This is a good topic. I participated fully last hight. New stove with self-cleaning oven, weekly laundry, lots of lights etc. Why did you have to bring religion into the discussion?
It struck me that this is one of the hidden agenda that stops the CPC from power, I'm assuming your a CPC supporter.
Every one rags (pun intended) on the towell head religion of peace trying to force their beliefs on the general public and your saying that it is alright for christian's to do the same thing. How scary is that???

Calgary consumption was down 1% during earth hour. just think of all the overtime the city of calgary paid its workers to go turn off those lights. 4 hour minimum call out. They probably did it in two callouts once for on , once for off and 8 hrs totals.

a world without sense.

In Florida the lights burned brightly Saturday, but we had a power failure Sunday morning. It made me feel so earthy!

Is that brilliant hacienda Chez Sooooz on Quadra Island or Castle Goracle in Tennessee?

Ron, thanks for the Lorrie Goldstein link. He puts things in great perspective. I posted the link on my Facebook page and here's what a female friend wrote:

"The birthday party i went to last night participated in the earth hour. The group of people are all enviromentalist & vegetarians! All the food and wine was organic & they had a huge discussion about marshmallows and how they would never eat them as they are made from horses hooves! I had a very educating adventure last night! We partied by candlelight & ate humas and organic chocolate LOL :)"

You see, for her & her friends, it's all about "feeling good", not actually doing any real good. But such is the reality of our society today: Emotions have become more important than tangible actions.

Anyhow, I couldn't let her comment stand as-is so here's what I wrote back:

"Francie, Goldstein's point is that if you're not prepared to permanently give up your car, give up your refrigerator & freezer, never use your computer or TV, and never fly again then participating in these Earth events is pure hypocrisy."

cal2: "They probably did it in two callouts once for on , once for off and 8 hrs totals."

EXACTLY. More energy is consumed by turning off the lights in big operations, then having to turn them back on, than simply leaving them on.

DUH.

Our idiot overlords like to be SEEN as effective leaders and figure that stunts like Earth Day will make them look smart and will appease us drones. Unfortunately, a lot of drones fall for it.

Earth Hour here in Kelowna was observed with the usual apathy, about half the lights in my neighbourhood were off, but being Saturday night, most people were probably out doing SN things.

I call on professional sports to get on the bandwagon like their customers, and I demand the NHL play the second period of all its playoff games with the lights out.

It's maybe the ONLY way the Canucks have of winning.

Yes the Major League sports thing. Many, many Canadians are avid sports fans. How will they react when Suzuki tells them;

No more interlocking schedules, in fact most travel will cease.
No artificial ice plants with their 60 hp electric motors.
No more 'bright as day' arena lighting.
No more huffing n' puffing the CO2, heh !!

Why the silence, MSM !? Too big a cash cow ?

My husband and I had our lights blazing last night and then, guess what? Today we had a bona fide power outage for more than two hours.

I guess Gaia was mad at us and exercising Her divine retribution. The good news? All our PC neighbours were included;-) Yeah!

Al Gore Leaves The Light On For Ya
“Even during Earth Hour. President of the Tennessee Center For Policy Research Drew Johnson takes a Saturday drive by Al Gore’s during the time most environmentalists went dark:
The kicker, though, were the dozen or so floodlights grandly highlighting several trees and illuminating the driveway entrance of Gore’s mansion.
I [kid] you not, my friends, the savior of the environment couldn’t be bothered to turn off the gaudy lights that show off his goofy trees.”
http://politics.nashvillepost.com/2009/03/29/al-gore-will-leave-the-lights-on-for-ya/
When the AGW preachers start living like there is a problem perhaps I will start listening to them.

Gore got busted as well....some lights on in the house and landscape lighting left on also.

Well done Robert W.......however I am afraid your reply to her will just sail over whatever she uses for brains as she takes her hot shower and brews her herbal tea. Hypocrites very rarely see themselves as such.(Oh,and ask her how much energy is used to make tofu...tell her to google it...heh)

Did you guys catch the Toronto (Red) Star front page today? Picture of some old granola cruncher surrounded by candles, caption: "Seeing the light in darkness".

Hey Grandma. The 60's are over. They are dead like disco. Move on.

I turned my lights ON.

Amusingly, today's local papers (Ottawa) had pictures of people burning candles during their reverential Earth Hour (PBUH).

Isn't that kind of a) cheating and b) missing the point?

Currently, cylinders that store compressed gas are required to be inspected every year, and hyd-statically tested every 5 years.

These cylinders would require even greater levels of inspection as the more than daily pressurization cycles will create metal fatigue.

Mind you, I think it's a good idea, if one can find suitable materials for the pressure vessels.

However, the best energy saving scheme is the flywheel KERS system (see formula 1). And this is effective in cities where there is much stopping and starting. Nothing, not flywheels, electric batteries of hybrids will do much to improve energy conumption per mile on the highways. The laws of physics define it - cross sectional area, drag, rolling resistance (friction), etc.

...hydRO-statically tested ...
