"An issue we’ve been having is with professors setting up fake checkpoints outside of their classrooms at the request of Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights [SPHR] and forcing the students to go through these. We’ve been speaking to the university about this,”"

Ask the male students if they would be happy just to bugger goats and camels and that girls were off limits, otherwise, the staff and administration would be able to publicly chop off their gonads in the soccer stadium.
Oh yeah, and if you happen to be a gay student.....speaking of soccer stadiums.....
They had an excuse not to go to a "Gender and Diversity" class and they're bitching about it??
Absolutely disgusting, can't wait until our crown corp's astute intellect journalists/newscasters will be all over this!
I know.../
Think the head moma corp person is at work today?
How long before the merits and benefits of Palestinian children's tv shows of "kill the Jews" are promoted for 'fairness' studies and program grants?
Please don't wake me if its already true.
I've seen that in training CF for duty in afstan, they would have one guy dressed up in local civvies. Under his overclothes would be a device basically consisting of a loud speaker that would holler out a loud BOOM when 'detonated.' It would be kind of humourous to see the result of such a 'blast' on the fake checkpoints. not that i'm suggesting it, or anything ... i'm just saying ...
Kakola Said: "They had an excuse not to go to a "Gender and Diversity" class and they're bitching about it??"
Quoted for Truth! Had me rolling on the floor!
Wow! Do the students get to suicide bomb the faculty lounge first? Or kidnap, torture, and behead a few professors? I mean, if the teachers really want to go down this road I think we can make it win-win.
I suppose now the senior male students have the right to immolate any female students that were caught tantalizing the male students with their "Jewish Hair Rays" Right?
And Kakola and EvilRedScandi are tied...
Very nice and accurate Gaza & West Bank simulation (wink).
Now these students will know exactly the brutality that the Israelis impose on the innocent Palestinian children in THIER school hallways. The University should be eligible for a Golden Globe Award.
As with any dramatic license, we should be able to ignore the fact that the Israelis do not go into Palestinian schools. We should also imagine that the checkpoints into Israel itself are “not” the self preservation reality of decades of suicide bombers, kidnapping and murder by thugs, along with rockets fired indiscriminately into its sovereign territory. That would take away from the illusion.
Forget they even built a protective “peace” wall that boldly states you stay on your side and we’ll stay on ours…….of course none of that translates to a Canadian Universities educational process for our future leaders, and why should it, John Lennon would disapprove - strawberry fields forever.
What no missles to lob at the Joos who were in the hallways? No bombs to lob at children? Frankly this is the kind of stuff the left get away with that sickens me. Can you image if we pulled the self same stunts they do, like say mock Feminists?
Machiavelli That so appeals to my baser instincts of fairness. If you wanna play, we'll play. I suggest the football team evaluate the class.
Anyone who pulls that kind of brownshirt crap should be poked in the eye. See what a big man he is when his liberal fascist stunt backfires on his iris.
We've been through this type of topic before, which is not the validity of Israel vs Palestine but the function of a university.
I, as many people here already know, take the view that Israel's policies towards the Palestinians are profoundly incorrect; that Israel has never had and never will have, any intention of enabling a Palestinian state. I also think that If Israel were to enable a Palestinian state, a democracy, with an economy embedded within that of Israel, this would act as a powerful force against Islamic fascism in the ME. However, on this blog, very few agree with my view. So be it.
But that's, I feel, not the issue of this thread. The issue is, or possibly ought to be, that a university has no business engaging in the politicization of its students. That is, it has no business promoting one political view. It has only one function - to provide the basic tools of thought. These include critical thinking skills - and objective history, science, etc and etc.
For a professor or students, to instead, set up political issues - not even in a debate, but as one ideology confronting a captive audience, i.e., those students who must get to their classes - is a gross violation of the duty of a university.
Over at American Thinker, good comparison between BO and PET...

Did anyone deploy a mock-up of home made missiles (aimed at Isreal) at the checkpoint?
I guess "nope"
I'm thinking the "border guards" might end up with bloody noses.
Empathy Education at the post secondary level. Guess that's what they pay the big bucks for.
They might as well play games, after all the whole place is a mock university. They all are nowadays.
You guys are thinking about this all wrong. Somebody sets up fake security checkpoints for the frickin' "Gender and Equality" class, that is not a problem. That is an opportunity for fake terrorist attacks.
Hit-and-run super soaker raids by masked gunmen in PLO t-shirts. And water balloon attacks on the prof. Launched by trebuchets, if at all possible. Sniping the earnest dickweed pro-Palestine students from afar with deadly jello bombs. Red ones!
Hey, its school. If you take it seriously you'll get brain damage.
It's idiots like this that make me want to hide the fact that I work in the Post Secondary Educational system.
I can't help but picture a hit squad armed with paint ball equipment and guns.
What a field day that would be!
I was thinking paintballs too OMMAG. Then I thought it would be much harder to justify tasering a kid with a pink squirt gun than a black paintball gun.
Never forget, Campus Security is on -their- side.
Water balloon raid on campus security!!!
Say, this gives me an eeeevile idea. How about for next year's Israel Apartheid Week we all show up in the Queen's parking lot and randomly launch water balloons into the campus with those big frickin' slingshots? Launch and run away to launch again another day. And another. And another.
You know, add some authenticity to the proceedings.
Come on ET, you know you want to. ~:D
Folks, I think you are missing a point here. They set up a check point at a "Gender and Diveristy" class. Now, I know to make assumptions or generalizations is bad, but from my experience in school, this class sounds like one that would be mostly female. So, what we have here is likely a group of people trying to intimidate women. I really wonder if the Engineering faculty was targeted, or the Kinesiology faculty. I highly doubt they would be.
What is really disturbing is the original article. If a non-U of T person assaulted a person in front of U of T security, and nothing was done, I would say a lawsuit is appropiate (and rest assured, grabbing someone by the back of the neck and telling him to "shut the fk up" is certainly assualt). If the univsersity designated officals cannot stop this madness, do we as citizens not have a responsibility to stop it?
That is the ultimately sad part; where are the citizens to stand up to this madness when the authorities shirk their responsibilities?
It should be so easy for the professors to refute the scorn than they are receiving. They should just list the dates of every of every incident when Israeli authorities impaired Palestinian students access to Gaza’s Gender and Diversity classes.
They really should have some Fatah supporters having thier legs broken with baseball bats to show the diversity of Hamas. A stoning or two to get in the mood of the fantasy.
I would like to walk up to the "check point and punch a teacher in the face. then proclaim that is the same as my blowing myself up, and so the teacher just saved student lives on the other side by stopping me at the "checkpoint".
I wish I had had one of these classes. I would have just played by their game. Worn a vest with a bunch of water bottles painted red under my jacket and then seen the look on their face when they tried to inspect me.
It would certainly have been a more accurate depiction of the situation around checkpoints.
Blocking access TO the classes; no problem. Blocking them from leaving? Priceless.
ddt at 9:28PM: I'm thinking nobody who signs up for a "Gender and Diversity" class has it in them to inflict a bloody nose... well, maybe some of the butcher gals, if some little "male" nerd "border guard" tries to push them around...
We all know what would happen if someone tried blowin' themselves up for real...
Do they get to shoot rockets at the University's Jewish Students Association room?
Well its so understandable why they would want those checkpoints. I mean just look at the track record of the JOOOS when it comes to suicide bombings. And, what better opportunity than a big room filled with Arabs wanting to expand their capacity for accepting folks who are "different" like Gays and Lesbians and well you could include women in there.
Sarcasm off.
ET, Lorrie Goldstein of the Toronto Sun agrees with your position on Israel. So there's at least one.
Where is the line up to get your clitoris hacked off with the lid of a bean can?
For some more authenticity why not get the top half of a female mannequin, set it on the ground, drape it with a sheet and put a bit of dirt around the base, hang an 'Adulterer' sign on it, and set up a basket of rocks and a $5.00 a throw sign.
You'd make out like a bandit.
Clearly, its worked. People are getting pissed off. That was the probably the intention all along.
If you expect others to suck it up, at least have the decency to suck it up yourself.
