Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to SDA Late Nite Radio. Tonight, for your delectation and pursuant to our Thursday night wild-card show, here is a delightful animation of the assembly and operation of a Ford Duratech HE four-cylinder engine (2000, 5:43), out of their Cologne operation. As Ronnie Shakes once said: I like life, it's something to do. And then it occurred to me: that might not apply if one's not doing anything. Not you, of course, dear reader, yet as a general principle, would not it be a good idea to regularly and periodically ask oneself whether or not one was building for the future, or pining for failure? If one spends one's life only looking for trouble, will one not always find it, even if it's not there?

Your Reader Tips are, as always, welcome in the comments.

Talk of Bill Ayers always reminds me of the dreadful situation that now exists on so many college & university campuses. Today Dennis Prager interviews David Horowitz about his new book, "One-Party Classroom: How Radical Professors at America's Top Colleges Indoctrinate Students and Undermine Our Democracy". You can listen to the interview here.

Rush is having a lot of fun talking about what is the teleprompter telling Obama to say.

Like this “Here is a portion of what the teleprompter told him to say last night.”

Here is Obama teleprompter’s very own blog.

WOW Vit.

Thank you for scrounging that up for this old gearhead. Looks like a nice little engine. Hard to say Ford can't compete in the engine department. Ford dominated F1 for ages with the Cosworth V8 in the late 60's and 70's. When Cosworth left the F-1 series in 2006 after 43 years they were the second winningest engine in the series history. I dropped into their rebuild "lab" in Britain in the 1970's. It was cleaner than an operating theatre would be for then Prime Minister Edward Heath.

The Ford Cosworth DFV spun at 11,200 RPM and generated 500 hp from 182.7 cubic inches normally aspirated.

And guess what? The mainstay of Cosworth's aftermarket business is..... drum roll....the Ford inline-4 Duratec program

My thoughts on the foreign submarine invasion of Canada's Northern backyard

http://thecanadiansentinel.blogspot.com/2009/03/foreign-sub-invaded-canadian-north.html

Any bets on whose sub it was? Friend or foe? Hard to believe a friendly sub would be screwing (pun intended) around in our northern backyard making big booms and crap...

Hey, how about a Canadian submarine building industry? Why not restart the Canadian shipbuilding industry? How about resurrecting Avro? Why the hell not, indeed! I say let's do it; YES WE CAN! As Canadians, we must have the audacity to hope and resolve to advance, progress and prosper! (Hey, I can say cool-sounding stuff too- does this mean that I have what it takes to be Prime Minister?).

If Obama's radically "changed" America is going to be less friendly towards the Free World than we're used to, what with turning their back on Israel and embracing the Islamofascist and Russian tyrants with open arms, well, we ought to be there for Israel. If Obama says "no F-22s for Israel" and if the EU refuses to sell Israel any, say, EF-2000 Typhoons or French Dassault Rafales, then why not build our own air superiority fighter? Why the hell not, indeed!

Having a homegrown defence industry infrastructure will certainly stimulate the economy as well as enhance our national security and sovereignty as well as the Free World's security and defensive ability against the Axis of Evil.

"Obama Closes Press Award Ceremony... to the Press? Where's Outrage?

OK, this story has GOT to have been written by that satirical website The Onion! Barack Obama is about to be crowned "Newsmaker of the Year" by the National Newspaper Publishers Assn. The ceremony is to take place this afternoon,March 20, at the White House.

And here is the kicker... it's CLOSED to the press!

Seriously! This dude is getting an award from the press and he's closed the ceremony to the press. Where is the outrage? Where is the screaming about how Obama is the most "secretive president" since Bush? Where are comments about the lack of "transparency"? More to the point where are the guffaws about just how ridiculous this move is?"

Ted's favourite MP, Jason Kenney, does it again:

George Galloway to be kept out of Canada

Canadian rules say he will be allowed in only if he has a special permit from immigration minister Jason Kenney.

But Mr Kenney’s spokesman said: “George Galloway is not getting a permit — end of story.

He defends the very terrorists trying to kill Canadian forces in Afghanistan.”

"Obama cracks Special Olympics joke

BURBANK, Calif. -- President Barack Obama might have rolled a gutter ball on NBC's "The Tonight Show."

Toward the end of the interview on Thursday, Obama told host Jay Leno he's been practicing at the White House's bowling alley but wasn't happy with his score of 129.

Leno complimented Obama on the score, but the president quipped, "It was like the Special Olympics or something," which prompted laughter from the audience."

"Transcript of Obama's Interview on Leno 'The Tonight Show'

We all are aware of Obama joking about "special olympics"... but it's worse.

Leno asked him about the presidential dog (official transcript):

Q Wow. And it's, what, a Portuguese water head? (Laughter.) What is it, what kind of dog is it?

THE PRESIDENT: It's not that. (Laughter.)

Q It's not that.

THE PRESIDENT: It's not a "water head." (Laughter.)

Q Whatever they are, I don't know what they are.

THE PRESIDENT: That sounds like a scary dog. (Laughter.) Sort of dripping around the house. (Laughter.)

Perfunction blog reports:

Except it sure didn't sound like "dripping" --- Obama said "tripping." While making "stumbly" motions with his hands.

Canadian Energy Industry to Target Asian Trade, Avoid New U.S. Regulations

WASHINGTON, D.C. - In response to a Globe and Mail report that indicated that Canadian energy producers will increasingly look to Asia to sell their energy resources thanks to President Obama’s proposed new and costly regulations and taxes, IER President Thomas J. Pyle released the following statement:

“The Obama administration knows that Canada’s energy resources are among the most significant in the world, and with a population one-tenth the size of the United States, our neighbors to the north have always been ready and willing to share. In spite of that knowledge, the administration developed and proposed plans that will force Canada’s energy producers to send their products to Asia to avoid America’s regulatory and tax-related mess.

“If President Obama won’t let us import oil and natural gas from Canada, he will force us to buy higher-priced energy from highly unstable and largely unfriendly nations in the Middle East. The Obama administration may understand this reality and it may be concerned, but it is not fighting to keep Americans’ access to Canada’s affordable, reliable, and abundant energy resources intact. We hope the administration will take notice and see that their proposals have serious and detrimental consequences.”

Note: The Globe and Mail quoted the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers president David Collyer as saying, “We see potential constraints to access to the U.S. market…the only realistic option, as an alternative to the U.S. in the near term, would be exports off the West Coast to the Far East.”"

"Canadian January Retail Sales Rise Most Since July 2006 on Cars

March 20 (Bloomberg) -- Canadian retail sales rose almost twice as fast as expected in January and the most since July 2006, on increased purchases of cars and food and beverages.

Retail sales climbed 1.9 percent from December, the first gain in four months, to C$33.7 billion ($27.2 billion), Statistics Canada said today in Ottawa. Sales fell a revised 5.2 percent in December, after an original report of a 5.4 percent drop. Economists expected a 1 percent gain in January, based on the median of 18 estimates.

January's retail gain provides a rare reprieve from recent reports indicating the recession, Canada's first since 1992, is deeper than anticipated. The statistics agency said earlier this month that factory sales plunged to the lowest level since 1999 and wholesale sales fell to the lowest since 2006 in January."

Gov. Gul Agha Shirzai, a semiliterate former warlord, has an autocratic style, a reputation for doling out government contracts to family and friends, and a personal fortune allegedly amassed via corruption and the opium trade.

Many in Afghanistan think he might also be the country's best hope for stability...

"Obama: Alien Black African Communist
by David Yeagley · March 18, 2009 · 13 Comments ·

“Alien Black African Communist.” I’ve used the phrase since November. 2008. I see it as simply a statement of fact about who’s in the White House. This is not interpretation.

I haven’t written anything about it in a while. I have become so disenchanted, disappointed, and disgusted with American politics and government, and especially Congress and the White House, that I have refrained from commenting on the national news for weeks (since February 26). It is disheartening and unhealthy to simply comment on the blatant abandon and aggressive sins of our beloved country’s detestable leaders. I see no special insight or acuity in news commenters and talk show hosts and their analyses of current events. This is a waste of time, and insulting, actually. These people make a living off ideas any intelligent person has already thought through a hundred times already? And a good living!

The government is simply going from bad to worse. Immorality of every grade is on the increase, intensely. To talk about it is to make it seem less outrageous. Outrage without action dulls the whole response. In fact, outrage without action aggrandizes the sin. It familiarizes the public with it, and essentially, inevitably justifies it. So it appears. The wrongs have only increased, despite the ‘noise’ of conservative talk radio."

"Holodomor: The Secret Holocaust in Ukraine

When Ukraine resisted Soviet attempts at collectivization in the 1920s and '30s, the Soviet Union under Stalin used labor camps, executions, and starvation (Holodomor) to kill millions of Ukrainians.

In 1933, the recently elected administration of Franklin D. Roosevelt granted official U.S. recognition to the Soviet Union for the first time. Especially repugnant was that this recognition was granted even though Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin had just concluded a campaign of genocide against Ukraine that left over 10 million dead. This atrocity was known to the Roosevelt administration, but not to the American people at large, thanks to suppression of the story by the Western press — as we shall show.

Ukraine's Untold Tragedy

The Ukrainian genocide remains largely unknown. After 76 years, the blood of the victims still cries for truth, and the guilt of the perpetrators for exposure.

Many Americans are barely acquainted with Ukraine, even though it is Europe's second largest country after Russia, and has been a distinct land and people for centuries. One reason for this unfamiliarity is that Ukraine has rarely known political independence; it was under Russia's heel throughout much of its existence — under Soviet domination prior to 1991, and under Czarist Russia before that. Many American students heard little or nothing of Ukraine in their history classes because the nation had been relegated to the status of a Russian "province."

Stalin accomplished genocide against Ukraine by two means. One was massive executions and deportations to labor camps. But his second tool of murder was more unique: an artificial famine created by confiscation of all food. Ukrainians call this the Holodomor, translated by one modern Ukrainian dictionary as "artificial hunger, organized on a vast scale by the criminal regime against the country's population," but often simply translated as "murder by hunger.""

Idea for a cartoon:

Al, thank you for posting that. Most of the people on their are unfunny buffoons. To see Monica Crowley join the chorus was shocking. I've corresponded with her quite a bit over the years and just wrote her a very stern letter, explaining how her & her colleagues have alienated a very close ally.

robert w - or how about a charlie style cartoon, with Obama sucking his thumb and holding, not his blanket, but his teleprompter.

I see that the media has reports out over the Obama Special Olympics gaffe. All is forgiven & hunky dory. This since Obama got on the phone to call the chairman Shriver of Special Olympics & aplogize to the athletes before the tape even aired.
Shriver even said that Obama wants to invite himself & Special Olympians to the White House( feel good Photo-Op).
So ya see i said things would be ok in the days prior postings on this topic, But like i said if this had of been GW guaranteed they would be boiling the Tar & skinning the chickens as we speak.
