Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to SDA Late Nite Radio. Tonight, for your delectation and pursuant to our Friday night old-time radio crime-detective show, here is Gerald More as Raymond Chandler's most famous character, Philip Marlowe, in The Eager Witness episode of the Adventures Of Philip Marlowe (1949, 27:43).
Your Reader Tips are, as always, welcome in the comments.

This is too much:
“In 2006, News Corp. embarked upon a company wide initiative to reduce the size of its carbon footprint.”
The means by which this “initiative” was carried out is then made clear by a plethora of clips from Fox’s most popular shows - the Simpsons, King of the Hill, Family Guy, Prison Break - which are all loaded with messages about global warming and the need to do something about it.
“What could we do on a practical level to start making a difference,” asks one executive before another answers, “The biggest thing we’ve done is inserting messages about the environment into some of our content.”
In other words, Fox has embarked on a deliberate campaign, which could only have been done with the coordination of the script writers of each program, to force people to accept the pseudo-science of global warming by brainwashing them into accepting it as a reality. This has been achieved by weaving in messages about climate change and having popular characters in the TV shows embrace specific tenants of the global warming manifesto."

Fox is certainly not the only one LindaL, and it's not a surprise to this x-tv viewer.
"King of the Hill"! Giving in to hippies! My heart is breaking just a little. (Is propane good for the environment?)

Is he doing it on purpose?
While I've never been a conspiracy fan, I think there's a strong possibility. As Oz pointed out on another thread, "these aren't missteps".
Powerline doesn't think so:
It is, I admit, an intriguing theory, but I don't buy it. Obama can't possibly want to be a one-term failure. That's what happened to Jimmy Carter, and Obama must know that it will happen to him, too, if his policies are perceived as dragging down the economy.
Ya see, I suspect that O may have different terms of reference for what constitutes "failure". Maybe he doesn't care about a second term; maybe he feels that if he can cause a irreversible descent into socialism he will have been wildly successful. Obama is not a lib-leftist, a social democrat or liberal statist. Obama is a marxist (despite his never having given public seminars on the subject, and the very real possibility that he'd fail a test on Marxist doctrine). He says he read Adam Smith The Wealth of Nations but if so, he seems not to have quite understood it. Or he's lying.
The Amazing Story Behind the Global Warming Scam;
[ Back in the 1960s, this global warming research came to the attention of a Canadian born United Nation's bureaucrat named Maurice Strong. He was looking for issues he could use to fulfill his dream of one-world government. Strong organized a World Earth Day event in Stockholm, Sweden in 1970. From this he developed a committee of scientists, environmentalists and political operatives from the UN to continue a series of meetings.] Coleman

All that remains of Trump Baja is a highway billboard with a large photo of Donald Trump that advertises condos for sale. It hovers over a closed sales center and showroom, a paved parking lot, a big hole that cuts a wide swath, drainage pipes and construction equipment.

I have said that O'Reilly was in the "bag" he does what Murdock says, although Murdock & Soros are not good friends, business is business. He started to question Global Warming > a year ago but suddenly stopped. It takes a heavy hitter to silence O'Reilly. The AGW theory is a 99.99999% socialist fraud, but unfortunately they can't control the chaotic results.
The AGW group has played a foolish game, such that if Carbon trading becomes reality in the USA the price of energy & food will increase by an order of magnitude (10X). The blowback will be Stinger Missiles aimed at the planes of those responsible and a blood bath at NASA, Universities, and MSM facilities. Good luck A**holes

"But Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff is important, or wants to be. For him to countenance such associations is a troubling sign. Neither Malhi nor Lee have been disciplined. Not only does that show Ignatieff's unhealthy tolerance for criminal associations, but it casts into doubt his newfound support for Israel and his new criticism of its terrorist enemies.
Seriously: if Ignatieff won't bat an eyelash when his MPs promote and attend a rally in support of Tamil terrorists, how can we believe a word he says when he claims he's against Hamas and Hezbollah?"
...-
"Liberal MP invites entire caucus to Tamil terrorist rally
Yesterday I wrote about Gurbax Malhi, the Liberal MP who spoke at a rally in support of the Tamil Tigers, a terrorist group responsible for tens of thousands of murders in Sri Lanka. That's why the Tamil Tigers, more formally known as the "Liberal Tigers of the Tamil Eelam", or LTTE, have been banned as a criminal organization in Canada for three years.
After Malhi spoke at the rally, the Liberal Party issued a laughable non-apology in which Malhi did not express regret for attending the rally, nor did he express distaste for the Tamil Tigers, but rather expressed regret that people had misunderstood him.
The funny part, though, was that Malhi, while practically draped in Tamil Tiger flags, claimed he had no clue it was a Tamil Tiger rally. He even told reporters that he really didn't know anything about the rally -- he just happened to be walking by, saw a group of people, and came over to say a few words.
Really? Well, here's an e-mail that Malhi's colleague, Liberal MP Derek Lee, sent out to all of his fellow Liberal MPs, including Malhi. I've bolded my favourite lines:
From: Lee, Derek - M.P.
Sent: March 4, 2009 6:12 PM
To: - LIBERAL ASSISTANTS; - LIBERAL MEMBERS/DÉPUTÉS
Subject: INHCU rally tomorrow
The organizers of this Tamil community rally have asked our office to circulate this note as ways of a reminder for tomorrow's rally , due to be held between 12 and 3 tomorrow outside of Centre Block. I understand that they would welcome M.P.s to show their support at around 1:30.
As an aside the organizers of this rally have, in a large part, been known to Mr. Lee for a number of years. The group's object is to have Tamils come together, not under the alleged auspices of LTTE affiliates. Nor are they aligned with the LTTE and its affiliates. The group have concerns about the LTTE and primarily wish to highlight their identity as Tamil Canadians. In this respect, Mr. Lee feels that they are deserving of an indication of support."

So in a city with the Downtown East Side problems, flagrant gang crime and the impending Olympics, they can find time to debate the merits of chicken ownership.

David Warren, usually an intelligent columnist, chastizes Harper for Harper's statement that "they've probably had an insurgency forever, of some kind". Warren claims that before the Soviet 1970 invasion, such was not the case and that his personal trip long ago to Afghanistan showed him that they were not 'religious fanatics'.
But Harper is right and insurgency doesn't mean religious fanaticism but wars over control of the area. And it's been centuries of Mongol, Islamic, and other take-overs of the region. Each inserting their own government, each taking over by war, each lasting anywhere from a generation to a few generations. Each operating as a tribal rather than state power.
The Afghan state, as a state, didn't begin until the early 18th century - and even then, was a troubled period with various murders over power. It became a republic only in the 1970's - and with yet more violence and more internal tribal warfare. Then, of course, the Soviets moved in.
Very strange revisionist outline by David Warren, who essentially ignores the entire history of the area.

"Does Gurbax Singh Malhi take Michael Ignatieff for a fool?
When an MP who spent the almost the first thirty years of his life in India earning a degree in Politics and History suddenly claims to have no understanding of the significance of the flag of the Tamil Tigers, something just doesn't add up.
But that is what Liberal MP Gurbax Singh Malhi is claiming, having been caught on video supporting the "fight" at a Tamil demonstration, one that featured a heavy presence of Tamil Tiger sympathizers. The Tamil Tigers have been classified as a terrorist organization in Canada.
I have no doubt that Michael Ignatieff has asked for an explanation. If Gurbax Singh Malhi is spinning the same story behind closed doors as he is stating publicly, then he is treating his party's leader with as much disrespect as he has treated us.
It'll be interesting to see if Michael Ignatieff will tolerate it. Of course, Michael Ignatieff's track record is poor when it comes to demanding that MPs behave."

The government is being urged to re-examine all refugee cases heard by Khaled Mouammar, the current president of the Canadian Arab Federation, following the revelation that his acceptance rates were nearly twice the national average during a decade-long stint on the Immigration and Refugee Board.
Mr. Mouammar, an outspoken supporter of Hamas and Hezbollah, recorded an acceptance rate of 100% when it came to refugees from North Africa and the Middle East during his time with the IRB between 1995 and 2005, according to statistics obtained by the National Post. Although cases from the Middle East represented only a tiny fraction of his overall caseload, the 68-year-old orthodox Christian, who was born in Palestine, also accepted each claim he heard against Israel during the period, while the rest of the IRB accepted just 10% of Israel claims."

Finally, women's rights groups are standing up for women:
"Islamic honor killings take center stage"
Women's rights group warns of beatings, executions
© 2009 WorldNetDaily
A human rights organization says it's not enough for Americans to adopt "resolutions" opposing violence when Islamic girls are stoned for being victims of gang-rapes and warns that such violence already has moved into the United States, with beatings and murders – including a recent beheading – documented.
The result is a plan for a public rally on March 8, International Women's Day, at the Capitol Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., according to the organization Responsible for Equality and Liberty.
The organization cited the U.S. Senate response – a resolution – when not even a year ago a 13-year-old girl, Aisha Ibrahim Duhulow, was stoned in front of an African crowd of 1,000 as "punishment" for being the victim of a gang rape.
According to a BBC report, while she begged for mercy, those stoning her said they were doing the will of Allah.
The campaign also has been taken up by the United Nations, where its rapporteur, Yakin Etruk, has warned against the "growing crisis."
"Women must demand that their governments implement agreements on women's equality, rights and an end to violence against women, which have been signed but have yet to be carried out. In these countries, those who speak on behalf of Islam still justify things like stoning or killing a woman for this or that reason as being part of their religion," she said.
The organization is assembling a petition that calls upon both U.S. and U.N. officials "to recognize the global threat of oppression and violence to women from Islamic supremacism."
It demands national and international condemnation of Islamic supremacism as a threat to women everywhere, as well as measures to protect the women of the world.
..................
The UN warns against the "growing crisis" - is this a joke?. This year, the UN is introducing a law that member countries can't opt out of that makes it illegal to criticize or defame Islam. Cognitive dissonance du jour.
ET, Harper has intentionally raised this red flag, and I agree with you that most people have no idea of the situation on the ground in Afghanistan.
Harper is establishing himself as somewhat of a statesman and is using shock treatment to convince allies present resources have no hope of a permanent solution. Canada has done its part and thus has earned a place at the table.
Harper's remarks are an indication of our influence, not a mistake in judgement at all. But, we've done our part; it's time for someone else to take up the challenge.
Do we really want the US forces, with their 500 lb bomb negotiation technique, filling the void?
Afganistan, such as it is, will have to ensure its internal security and prevent transnational terrorist organizations from setting up headquarters. The defeatist rhetoric coming from the Afghani leadership right now is strong indication that Harper has it right.

The PM of Zimbabwe,Tsvangirai, a long time foe of the Eternal President Mugabe, was in a car accident a few days ago that injured him and killed his wife; he has left for Botswana.
Many are saying that the car crash was no accident; that Mugabe gets rid of his opponents by arranging car crashes. In this case, it was a truck that drove right at the PM's car - and, since he isn't Mugabe, there's no police escort or even another car on the road with him.
Isn't it interesting; we can have a corrupt and dangerous leader of a nation - and nothing can be done about it.
I found myself at Ace HQ, reading about the Obamas' gifts to PM Brown. (Ace and crew can't stand the Obamas.) My following post, with a Canadian take, was rejected: "Your message has been rejected because long strings of unbroken text are very annoying."
I believe that those "long strings of unbroken text" are called paragraphs. I've been to Ace before: great content, but I've noticed a certain condescension: very annoying!
Here's the post:
American DVDs don't even work in British DVD players! I'm a Canadian and, like Jack, can't bear the Obamas: (except for the nice clothes) what a no-class couple. I am utterly unimpressed.
On the other hand, Canada has a statesman, Stephen Harper, for our Prime Minister: he made Obama look like a rank amateur during ZerO's lousy, 5 hour visit to Iow . . . whoops, it was OTTAWA. (Minus his teleprompter, Obama seemed to be somewhat out of his depth and seemed to have forgotten where he was. He made up for it by looking smug and supercilious. WHAT an annoying man he is!)
Our good fortune at having a mature adult in charge is altogether lost on Canada's MSM, who are a disgusting, left-wing, Obama adoring lot. They either pillory or ignore Stephen Harper: really. Though Our PM's had some really good media coverage in the US—check out Larry Kudlow's interview with him—he’s treated like a no account by Canada’s MSM. And, unfortunately, most Canadians are ignorant sheeple: they believe the lies they’re told about both Harper and Obama, so . . . they think Harper’s “scary” and that Obama’s the new Messiah. What a topsy turvy world!
I’m a pro-American Canadian—despite Obama. (Because PM Harper has only a minority government, Canada's still very much a European style, socialist country—what Obama wants to do to your country—and our elites have been, until just now, very anti-American: one of Canada’s least appealing traits.)
Godspeed! With the big OWE now running your country—into the ground—you need all the help you can get!
The rejection also said, "Use the space bar or tinyurl.com as appropriate."
Translation? Can anyone explain this to me?

"The Obama Economy
This semi-opinion piece from the AP is to my mind, less about the economy than it is about the MSM’s changing view of Obama’s economy. The gist of it is that Obama’s ability to pin the current woes on his predecessor declines with each passing day. There’s a line that will be crossed at some time in the future. How far are we from it?"
http://pajamasmedia.com/richardfernandez/2009/03/07/the-obama-economy/#comments
lookout - in some blogs, even though you put in paragraphs, the system doesn't recognize them and your whole post comes out as one very difficult to read massive tome.
I agree with all your points about Obama and Harper. And yes, Obama can't answer questions without being prompted by someone; that's because he, himself, hasn't thought through, hasn't analyzed the policies and programs and can't provide you with either the reasons for them (other than superficial nonsense) or the results.
I recall how, when criticized that massive spending won't necessarily stimulate the economy to develop new infrastructures for job generation, he didn't understand this. He countered by saying that spending=stimulation - a nonsensical statement.
He's going to try to charm the Taliban now, by preaching to them. Heh.
By the way, the Rasmussen polls on presidentail approval index are showing a steady, steady rise in disappointment with Obama. The disapproval began at 10% and is now up to 30% and the slope is positive, i.e., the disapproval is steadily increasing.
However, the approval rating began about 40%; has gone up and down but the average is steady; that is, there is no slope. It remains steady.
That's the way it should be now; if the approval was going strongly up or down, you'd know that it was driven by emotion rather than reason. The steady but gradual rise in disapproval is driven by reason.
Eventually, that disapproval will confront the approval..and then we'll see what happens. Obama will try to reduce the disapproval with his campaign strategies of misinformation, manipulation and accusations of bias, but policies passed aren't the same as campaign rhetoric and the facts of reality have a way of intruding on campaign fiction.
ET, let's hope Obama gets clobbered by reality. But he and his covering fire MSM are weasels and will do everything possible to duck and cover up.
And, a large percentage of Americans are still enthusiastic about this phony. The brainwashing of the masses is truly scary.
