I maintain, and Mr. Def so eloquently makes my case, that rap "artists" and those who listen to them are devoid of any pretense of intellect. I'd have reached across the table at some point and just wrung his scrawny neck and told him the STFU and listen if he's going to go to the trouble of asking the question out loud.

Really, he asks questions and then talks over the answer. I remember my father telling me that God gave me two ears and one mouth, and I should use them in that proportion. Apparently, Mr. "Def" (laughed out loud at that) never got that message.

Maher had to know that Hitchens and Rushdie weren't going to say things that he'd agree with (and boy, did he sound like a midget when he tried to throw in the kind of boiler-plate comments that Larry King lets him get away with). But what the hell was he thinking in having that mental-defective on the show at the same time?

I've actually met people who argue like that guy about Bush, Obama, terror, Bin Laden etc.

For Maher to turn to Hitchens and tell him to stop, that was ridiculous, it was Def that was doing all the talking.

The composition of this panel seems a little weighted to the intellectual side. Well Bill is there to even things out... Strange choice of guests for a political discussion on terrorism.

Mos Def had no idea that the Taliban and Al-Qaeda were distinct organizations, he was probably not aware the Taliban were the "pre-invasion" government in Afghanistan either.

I am not at risk from Al-Qaeda and Bin Laden because "I don't speak no Arabic" and the media lies (except about how great Obama is). I love that, nothing to be concerned about from Korea then 'cause I do not speak Korean, wow Rap Foreign Policy is a breeze.

It would of been more intellectually honest if Mos Def had simply posed the question, then stuck his fingers in his ears, closed his eyes and kept repeating, "la, la, la, I can't hear you, la, la la,. . . ". But I suppose that would have made it so clear that even the simpletons who support him would have had to realize that the jig was up.

That's the longest I've ever watched Maher.

I think HBO will spin this off to a new edition of Crossfire. I can see it now, Def and Snoopdog debating Hitchens and Ann Coulter. The new twist will involve a real crossfire, where the audience and crew will be gunned down in a hail of 9mm slugs.

Dontcha just love the way Mos Def tried to get a quick education from Hitchens and Rushdie? He knew his goose was cooked from the very beginning, because he had NO IDEA what the Taliban's or Al Quaeda's agendas are: He just knew he was supposed to support the Muslim brotherhood.

Hitchens did a good job deflecting the asinine comments from Def and Maher, both idiots. I especially liked Hitchens' not backing down when Maher told him, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, to back down. Damned liberals do it all the time: When the going gets tough, they back down and ask everyone else with them to do the same. Hitchens essentially said, "F*** you." Bravo.

What's really scary, as Revnant Dream points out, is that it's the Mahers and Defs who are going to be running things: Just look at Obama.

Try to imagine how embarassing this is to your average, black, husband, father, hardworking employee. This is just one guy, making an ass of himself, and Bill Maher stuck him on TV to represent the black community.

Maher is the worst type of racist. He assumes that any black guy will suffice as a representative of the community. He's like the guy who thinks all women are the same, so doesn't notice he's dating a monster(some experience here).

My heavens, listening to Bush live a few weeks ago (yay Calgary, [the first,and self-admitted only place he could go on his lecture tour]), it was great to hear how he was a real leader.

The world these days is not a simple place loaded with Obama's false choices, where he says "we are often faced with choice A, and choice B, where in reality we must face choice C".

Bah, no. Your choice C, Obama, is a lousy choice, despite how you frame it, so count me out.

My friends and I grew up on self-learning, and knowledge - the 20 year olds who have elected Obama have relied and waited for television to tell them what to think, (which it certainly has) in the past twelve months leading up to the US election.

McCain was a person of substance. Think of what he survived, and what he has done, and the "working across the aisles" stuff.

What has Obama done, other than ascend to every top position because he was seemingly the right candidate for whichever job, despite massive deficiencies?

You make an assumption that Mr Def would have any idea who rushdie was, that he is under a death senence for writing a book. Because he hasn't "heard it for himself", and you know he is from a certain neighborhood therefore he knows certain things....although it sounds like he might be able to relate to rushdie because he as accused of something and probably was innocent, because those things happen.....

There is a firm difference between ignorance and stupidity. Stupidity is accidental, ignorance is purposeful.

Def is one of the most ignorant people I've had the misfortune of listening to while he talked over the only men in the studio who apparently had brains. He sounded and acted like a classic liberal, talk loud enough and often enough and soon the right (both politically and literally) voices will be drowned out. He'd be a perfect NDP candidate.
