I loved how Citizen Wilson had to do the reporter's research

Here's what I posted over at Akin's, I've bolded the fun part:

"Well the French CBC is widely said by many to have employees sympathetic to separatism, and have for years; perhaps Mr. Akin would like to see cuts to them too, for expressing separatist sentiment, when Quebec has been sending 50+ separatist MPs to Parliament for over a decade? No? OK, how about cutting public funding to separatist political parties? Have we tried that yet?

Self-determination is recognized by the UN, it is in fact the human right of separatist organizations and individuals to talk about separatism. Political belief was read into the Charter as grounds you cannot discriminate upon, Mr. Akin, your suggestion that Harper might withhold funding for separatist groups and individuals violates both the charter and international law. I think you were a little too eager to go after Harper on this one and didn't think this post through entirely."

Talk about a kneecapping gone wrong!

Poor David,
Jane Tabloid beat him to 'Iffy buys a cat'
He drew the 'Harper buys a magazine' from the story (cess)pool.

I hope Mr. Akin makes a big stink about this, forcing the government to remove funding to Report Magazine. It would give the Conservative cover to remove funding to all magazines with political opinions and the money can be used to eliminate the current account deficit.

You nailed it Wilson!!Poor David !!! At one time I felt sorry for him over the Nafta screw up but not any more.

heh I've been published! Mimi-me was mine! Thanks Wilson.

Great research btw.

Wilson...good work on the Aiken 'leak'.

Wonder why Aiken isn't focusing on Iggy's ignorance of the Afganistan mission that was clearly pointed out by Senator Pamela Wallin on CTV's Power Play?

'Anon'on Aiken's blog took the fizzle out of the anticipated indignation of the bored and boring PPG for the upcoming interviews on Fox and CNN. They really don't have much to do in the 'gallery', so perhaps they could watch the interviews and learn how it's done.

wilson, wilson, wilson, what shall we do with you and that smart, one-ups-man-ship of yours?
Brilliant and thanks Kate, for featuring a cool conservative, cat...whoops, catch!

Aiken is a huge disappointment, he's heading for mediocrity.

Based on that tres lame attempt at a journalismgotcha, looking up mediocrity in the dictionary would reveal the name David Aiken. He's getting mucho neuvo butt holes ripped into him in the comments.

Maybe the stress of seeing his career and reputation doing a Titanic has caused him to lose whatever he had.

Just another suicidal MSM journalist.

Goes to show in the Liberal-sphere, you make your own truth, and it becomes the truth. In the real world, the government has always funded big Liberal media ventures, organizations and arts and left the conservative ones to fend for themselves. Anyone know of a rod and gun club or one of their advocacy groups receiving government funding? Just the opposite for anti-gun, anti-hunting/fishing groups though.
There were something like 47,000 advocacy/arts organizations receiving government funding under Martin. Couldn't help but notice the outcry when Harper tried to reduce that number.

Thx guys,
naming Iffy's cat was a highlite.

Good point Vince.
I was actually surprised that the media quietly ignored the speech PMSH made at the Outdoorsman gathering last week. Could it be the MSM is aware of all the fed funding for the anti-gun lobbies and this would have been easily brought to the forefront?
Someone in the PPG forgot to send Aikin the shush memo.

What's so bad about treating "right-wing" magazines equally as compared to "left-wing" magazines, I'd ask Mr. Akin...

Anyone who sees a problem in being fair to both ideological types of print media either had a big, fat, crippling brainfart or has a long-term mental disorder called "political correctness submission syndrome".

Of course, it's also possible that someone who would write the odd stuff Mr. Akin wrote at the link was perhaps kidnapped and coerced under threat to say what the baddies wanted him to say... well, it's possible... after all, there are still "Human Rights" Commissions who will do whatever they want, even violating the law, the Charter and human rights, to get what they want...

Hey, Wilson at 6:30, you sounded like a LOLcat impersonating Maz2... funny... :b

Thanks, Akin, for letting me know that there is still a right-of-centre magazine out there. I will be getting a subscription and supporting them.

I vote that the runway lights at the airport where Al Gore keeps his Gulstream get unplugged. Preferably permanently.

I'm a little surprised that so much money is given out to so many magazines, most of them really pretty obscure. Another legacy of drunken liberals on shore leave syndrome. Except for the Western Standard and SBC Skateboard a complete waste of money.

here's what Mr. akin posted in defense of his post:

Wilson -- terrific research. Well done. But here's the point:
Here are all the press releases issued by the Minister of Heritage.
The release yesterday about REPORT was the first I can find in more than a year. In other words, by dint of issuing a press release, Minister Moore and Minister Ambrose were quite keen to draw this particular funding announcement to our attention.
No one -- recently, in any event --has apparently stood up to take credit for any of these other funding announcements.

And here's what it posted about that:

BS Mr. Akin.

The title of your post says "Conservatives give grant to conservative magazine", not 'Conservatives single out a conservative magazine in press release".

You have been caught trying to slag a federal party from the position of being a professional fair-minded journalist. That is an unethical act. To then try and obfuscate it adds to the decrepitude of your ethics.

I meant here's what I posted about that:

"wilson Says:

Just read Agent Smiths suggestion for a name: bbq or honey mustard
LOL
‘Name that cat’ deserves a post of it’s own."

Wilson's comment from Blue deserves consideration.
Any suggestions, CS?

Thanks, Akin, for letting me know that there is still a right-of-centre magazine out there. I will be getting a subscription and supporting them
