You know why Lawrence Welk was banned from television? Too much sax and violins.

Awesome.

Comments section rocks, don't it? :)

When I was a kid, there were plenty of guys who would punch you for saying that Hank Williams died of a drug overdose.

Not that long ago, there were people very angry at Bing Crosby's son, for revealing that his father brutally beat him, 'til he was 18.

Hell, there were people that couldn't believe Liberace was gay.

The entertainment business has always been full of very messed up people, but Lawrence Welk? Really? I'm disgusted, but not surprised.

dp... i think the comment was sarcastic in nature....

Lawrence Welk was GAY!?!? The next thing, you'll be telling me that Richard Simmons is gay too...

Richard Simmons GAY???? OMG....is Rock Hudson next?

Wun'erful, Wun'erful! for those too young to know about Stan Freberg, not to mention Lawrence Welk.

Richard Simmons GAY???? OMG....is Rock Hudson next?

Yes I've heard. Some friends, with connections, tell me that Scott B., George S., Real, Philboy. Ulianov and Iberia are as well. Who can you trust these days to be hard core? With this global meltdown going on everthing seems to be going soft.

Yes Dad, it was a Wurlitzer!

(haven't heard that line in 50 years)

Well, I heard a rumour that Tom Cruise was straight.

Hey foobert,

It's Gee, Dad. It was a Wurlizter.

But close to enough to know you remember and glad to help out with the memories.

Turn off the bubble machine...

Tinybubblesinmybrainmakemewhackymakemeinsane!!!?!!

They once published a study about 20 years ago in quebec, and it revealed that over 60 % of women who finally get out of a bad relationship were they were physically abused, end up with another man who also physically abuses them.

If you are honest and intelligent you have no choice but to conclude that part of the problem - at least for that 60 % of abused women - was the woman.

Either they were attracted to dominant agressive violent men and/or those women were violent themselves and were the cause of domestic violence.

Rhiana returned with her "abuser"; either she likes abusive violent men and/or is the cause of the abuse and violence.

I rest my case.

Larry Welk references...
What's next Tommy Hunter? Don Messer?

Liberace was gay, obviously, but I don't think Lawrence Welk was. He was married to the same woman for 61 years, and they had three kids.

Then again, according to Wiki, his early bands included "the Hotsy Totsy Boys and later the Honolulu Fruit Gum Orchestra"

Hotsy Totsy Boys? Hmmm ...

"He was married to the same woman for 61 years, and they had three kids"? - well that's awfully convenient, isn't it?

Jimbo; I remember when gay meant happy-go-lucky. I must be old, very old. Hotsy Totsy Boys; how about Merry Men, or Boy's Town, or Gay Caballeros?

Another study revealed that 80% of women will marry men with virtually the same characteristics as their fathers. That's why you see so many mothers crying at weddings.

Gord- Don Messer is off limits.
