Given that the Oceans are alkaline it will allow AGWists to claim success as their grant money runs down.

Look the ocean isnt acidic, its alkaline (like it has been for a long time)

Maybe we will see concerns expressed soon about the alkaline nature of the ocean, clearly that was a result of West and globalization and industrialization and male driven societies

What they really want to say is that the oceans are being "neutralized" by the addition of CO2 (which as a commentor at the web site points out is actually a substrate used by the corals for growth). "Neutralized" however isn't as scary as "acidified" (acid -- bad, ooh, ooh, burns! eek, run away, run away). Now if only we can get the alarmists neutralized and/or even better yet, neutered, then we won't have to worry about their silly gibberish being propagated.

If only that were true. Perhaps cynical, but I doubt Obama will ever listen to anything credible on this front considering who he's placed as the Senior Science Advisor to his administration (John Holdren), a man who's made a career of alarmism from population explosions, peak oil, ice age doomsaying in the '70s to the cause du jour, AGW.

Frankly I don't think there's any way the Left will admit they're wrong. They seem content to continue eating whatever the MSM feeds them. Until the MSM actually begins to cover this issue in a balanced manner (pipe dream?) I cannot see the situation changing in any meaningful way, and you can count on the Left trucking along so long as the media continues to peddle this nonsense. People continuously say on this site on every one of these y2kyoto postings that we're "starting to turn the corner" and things are going to definitely start changing, people will begin to see the lack of credibility in these claims, etc...

All I can say is I'll believe it when I see it.

The warmists are losing on the climate front. Each year the temperatures are further down and the snow and ice just keep coming.

They have no choice but to ramp up the scare by tossing in the imminent demise of our life giving oceans. Something must be done before the whales start tripping on the acid.

While the skepticism towards AGW has become more prevalent, the politicians continue to earmark billions of dollars towards these fallacies, for example, $2 bil. in Alberta for research and development of carbon sequestration, and Obama's $400 mil. for further r&d with climate modeling. So long as the left continues to support this lunacy, our "leaders" will continue to throw our tax dollars towards these scams as an appeasement bid to remain relatively centrist and retain votes.

Actually, for that matter, in Alberta, I'm just blown away at that $2 billion for carbon sequestration r&d. You would think in this obviously conservative province that such statements, a priori, would be considered a joke in bad taste.

Oh for the good old days when scientists shut up if they had nothing to say. Before science was an agenda for public consumption. I remember eminent scientists being put under the bus at IPCC BEFORE Al of Gore. They were replaced by shiny new eco-grads that as one replaced scientist noted "I went to review his work and there isn't any in this field."
The reason they were quiet was because they were cautious. Most people do not understand science and will trust other sources such as newscasts put on by people that don't know science either.
